I thought about it, and I am pretty sure they did this to achieve a better battery life. By disabling this and removing some stuff, like the notification led, by reducing the volume (at least compared to S7 it is lower overall)...and so on

this is my second day of using and all that i knew Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 :
1. There's no haptic feedback when you press recent & back button
2. There's no option to set the vibration intensity
3. so the keyboard (i think including all the third-party keyboard) can't have a vibration when we're typing it.
4. (Not a vibrating topic) samsung keyboard have a clipboard option, which i use it a lot and there's a dissapointing about the keyboard which can't lock the clipboard

1. True
2. True
3. On Swiftkey, I can set vibration while typing. And I can customise the vibration intensity in Swiftkey settings.
4. I don't use the samsung keyboard. But Swiftkey also has a clipboard option.

For nav buttons use button mapper pro app and you can set vibration strenght for back and reccent buttons also remap buttons... For keyboard I use gboard and work great...also have vibration feedback.

Can you share that file for me to use on Galaxy A7 2017? **no root**
If you can it would be the best for me as I have migrated from Z5 to A7 (2017) recently (3 days ago only) and I found samsung keyboard with out haptic feedback very disappointing..

Yup, works for me -- GBoard for vibrating keyboard ands Button Mapper Pro (approx. 4 bucks) to give me vibrating softkeys.
Very annoying of Samsung to take out this feature -- the hardware is there so this is deliberate 'punishment' for not buying a flagship device. Well guess what Samsung I *don't* want a curved screen so you have taken my choices away!
S8 with only curved screen, upcoming Note 8 almost certainly will be the same

I asked Samsung about this as i love Haptic Feedback and feel it a better interface when using the keyboard and touch screen. I read the posts further down and was able to purchase the Button Mapper Pro for the buttons which greatly improves the feel of the use and also that i can tell it has been registered. (cheers for this works great!, especially that i can control Media from the volume buttons rather than the ringtone all the time, which i felt was so annoying!)
Sometimes i touch the scren and dont think it recognised sometimes, maybe 1/10 times missing the exact button or
keypress.
Samsung said to me it was not available on this device but i did ask them to reinclude it in a future update. (we will see) A lot of people might not want it but it should at least be an option to turn on or off.
I had a Note 4 and loved this but was getting too old for new upgrades and wanted a recent model.
Anyway does anybody know how to stop the notifications bunching up when fast charge, device connected and Do Not Disturb etc. are on, the notifications all merge into System Device Status notifications, again this is soo annoying. i like to see all icons on that are active at the same time at the top of the screen...
Thanks all, happy to join XDA-Developers!

This option did not work for me. After installing the application and trying to enable the function it warns "to customize, go to your device settings and disable vibration feedback"...But I do not find this function. Can you help me? Tahnk you.

Wake phone up with trackpad?

I think the G2 guys could have taken this one cue from the iPhone and other phones. I'm really hoping this is something we can add after root is available.
Not a big fan of having to use the power button.
I have been using widget locker app and it allows to be waken from by trackpad.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
ya on my n1 it was so much more convenient to just press the trackball to wake ugh patience i guess...

i have this. But can't get it to do what you're saying
Yea it is kind of irritating having to press power to wake all the time
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
No legendary is right. Widget locker fixes this well enough.
Just disable the notification icon and in advanced settings check "wake up with any button press".
As far as I can tell the only draw back is having to slide the bar to unlock and then having to enter ur unlock pattern if u have one.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I'm glad you found your answer on your own. I really do like that app and when it worked it was a double bonus. Had it installed on my nexus one. Can't wait for ROMS to take advantage of it soon
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I used it on my Vibrant. It was kind of buggy at times. Though, I'm not sure if that was the app, or the phone.
No its the app. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't...
Another trick
If you are holding the phone in your left hand (as I mostly do), use the trick that someone posted in another thread-- Just snap the keyboard open about 1/4 of the way. It will wake and unlock in one super-quick step. It can be done in the right hand, too, just not quite as easily.

You really have to tweak settings to make it reliable... took me a bit. Hiding the notification makes it less reliable by their own admission. I have it working fine now though.

Can you share the settings you're using to make it stable on the G2? Sounds like a great app.

Widget Locker Enabled
Buttons > Allow Menu Button in Lock Mode
Behavior > Appear on boot
Behavior > HomeHelpers Launcher set to your preferred system home (I'm using Launcher Pro)
Advanced > Easy Wake Mode
and DO NOT hide notification icon if you can help it.
I'm also using the rotary slider instead of the standard one...
so now I press the trackpad to wake up... slide to unlick, and then use unlock pattern to get to home screen. I still prefer that to having to press the top power button.

awesome - thanks for this, i'll be giving it a whirl!
[EDIT] i just tried it out, tried many different settings (including those suggested) and couldn't get it to work more than a few times. alas, that's more frustrating than helpful, so til it's fixed i've uninstalled. thanks for trying to help out though - i really do want trackpad wake.
^ ditto. It was reliable for a while then became sporadic
This should be an app fixable thing as opposed to needing root though. I will wait I suppose.
I really want this feature too, but I don't want to have the phone wake when pressing the vol/camera keys. Is there somewhere we can request this in the next software update from T-mobile / HTC? I assume this is not remediable without rooting otherwise. I'd prefer not to root my phone just for this one feature.
i haven't tweaked any settings and my trackpad now wakes the phone up every time. I say now, as it didn't do it consistently until i un-installed a live wall paper i had (Thunderstorms) - a couple of other issues vaporized when i un-installed that app
neat wallpaper though - the developer is supposed to be working out the bugs for use on the G2

Hahhaha! Don't ask tmobile or htc for help. They'll just lock it down more. I have a headache from trying to get root access working. This nand lock really sucks! Sorry a bit off topic, I guess.
So now that we've got full root, is there a quick, simple and reliable way to wake the phone by pressing the trackpad button (i.e. wake to the unlock screen, not fully unlock).
[Edit: Found it, works perfectly on my Desire-Z, needs root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830806]

That being said, there is an app, Light Flow - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow
It lets you control all lights of your phone and you can select applications that will trigger that light for notifications.
Check this thread for a guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413620
Works for stock as well as CM
Thank you for your quick respond, nut i trid the Light Flow it does not work, as it is working or controlling the LED notification that already being a part of the phone as the S3, and it can not control the capacitive buttons, but i will try the second suggestion and return to u with the result

I just tried installing and setting up the app myself, and it's working great with the capacitive buttons. They are turning on with each notification with my screen off.
I'm attaching my settings backup with the current version 3.11.2 Pro
1. Install the app
2. Unzip the attached file. Place the "2013-10-10" file in "InternalSd/lightflow/"
3. Run the app. Go to Tools, Restore Settings. It will ask for root permission.
You can look over what I did. Please note that the buttons are referred to touchkey-led. All you have to do is Select an app you want giving you notifications, turn on the notification enable check box and the touchkey-led option (Step 4 and 5 below)
Side note : For apps like Hangout and Facebook Messenger, Light flow needs admin privileges and that has to be done manually on each phone
1. Go to notifications
2. Select an app like Facebook Messenger
3. Select Accessibility service required

With LighFlow, the buttons light up when there is a notification and stay on till you turn on the screen/check the notification (they don't blink in LightFlow). You can select if you want screen to turn on with the notification but by default it is turned off in the app.
I haven't tried using ButtonLED app yet so can't comment about what it does.

I couldn't get the app suggested by OP to work for whatever reason. But the second app you suggested (zone assistive touch) is incredible. Always thought quick ball was too big and not transparent enough, but this gives you options to change both. Also, additional functionality, especially quick switch between 2 recent apps, is a godsend. The only minus compared to quick ball is swipe to edge of screen to hide..But that's a small price to pay imo

Smart touch has gott all the features you mentioned. Transparency, size, extra functions, ability to place it everywhere, hide when keyboard is on(nonsense if you dont use nav bar), also it has got edge applications as a bonus.

Thanks mate, I tried the app out for about an hour or so. I found it to be quite useful and nifty, unfortunately the app contains too many adverts and I don't really like the idea of having a floating icon in the middle of the screen.
What I like about Pie control is the fact that the triggering method is hidden away from the screen. In my opinion, Pie control is a more intuitive design and offers a smoother user experience.
Nevertheless, thanks for recommending the app. :good:

Adds make me crazy but hey I don't enter into the app much lol. I don't like the persistent floating button on the screen too but it's way better than nav bar for me. I tried pie; using it is kinda harder than that button somehow. Side note i really liked the idea of GMD gestures app which has no button or pie but does the same job for me. Yet, returned to this button again lol. My 2 previous device has had this button natively which i liked it a lot, maybe this is the reason. Anyway, thanks for input. Everyone uses what they like, is the beauty of Android. [emoji38]

No LED Notifications

This is hands-down the best phone I have ever used, but I am quite disappointed that the LED notification light was omitted from the hardware.
I was hoping I could use the NoLED app to display notifications instead, on the always-on-display, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone know of any way to display notifications (i.e. text messages, emails, missed calls, etc.) on the always-on-display?

I contacted Huawei about this. I received a canned response, but if enough people request all notifications on always-on-display, maybe they will listen.

Disable messaging and install Google phone and Messages. Mark them as default apps and give them proper rights and you'll have all notifications (home and lock screen). Don't know for Gmail, I use email.

Thanks for the suggestion!
Looks like messages work - I see it displayed on my AOD now.
Not sure about Google phone. I don't see this app on the Play store...
Would also like notifications for WhatsApp, but that doesn't seem possible.

Not sure about whatsapp. Install this phone (the last beta) and give it all required permissions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218

Thanks - will give it a try.
Huawei always on display only for Huawei app, 3rd party apps won't display on the screen. I don't know why did they make this stupid always on display, make no sense. I just shut it off, I don't need to look at the clock and date.

LOL p20x
This site says - yes, it have?

I also missed the notification led on my EVR-AL00 coming from my Mi Mix. Its a pitty that Huawei does not show all notifications on the always on display.
In the last days I evaluated some of the available amoled always on apps in the play store.
Finally I now use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newgen.alwayson as daily driver.

Compared to other available amoled always on apps it has several advantages:
Shows weather
Displays notification icons
Has optional a simulated notification led
Notifications can be previewed directly
It works for me with direct fingerprint unlock (others close the always on and you have to rescan again in the normal lock screen)
It also has some disadvantages:
Notification Led color and size cannot be customized
It offers a flashing edge, but this cannot be configured a lot and does not use the whole screen, which looks like bad
Weather only shows one configured location, no tracking based on GPS (it cat be set by GPS manually)
To get it work...
Disable Huawei always on
Set all rights for Autostart manually for this app
Exclude it from battery optimization
Give it all rights (I dont use the Cutted Edge feature, so it is not necessary to give draw over other apps right)
Configure the app without Open Camera on slide to left, it does not work
There is another app which has the best looking edge lightning https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe But I did not manage to see edge lighting + notification icons in this app and I always had to scan fingerprint twice.
I Have chines version AL00 and no problem with notification without led. Apk NoLed working perfect and I no longer miss the diode I was used to in Note 10. It was only possible to play in the settings and I'm happy. So i solved the problem with Nova launcher when I installed apk Fluid N.G. All I miss is a double tap on display on the Note 8, but I've already used to unlock my face or connect Xiaomi Stratos watch.
Yes works well for those that use always on display, but not if you don't.

Yes but I can not see why it is not used when it is the only way to display a no LED diode notification. The app has no effect on the battery life and I have a SOT over 13h and I usually spend over 2 days! Who has trouble with Always on display?
Good point. But led blinker is nice.

Yes, led blink is nice, but Mate 20X does not have it, which is a shame and I do not understand it because the Mate 20 diode is right over the camera in the tear ...
Just check out a YouTube video, the honor view 20 has a led notification light on the top. Mate 20 and pro also has it. Only mate 20x doesn't, that's sad!
NoLED is cool but the fingerprint sensor doesn't work properly, you have to press the power button first to be able to unlock with fingerprint.
Anyone knows a workaround or similar app? I've seen several for the OP6 but they don't seem to work with our phone.

How To Guide Using Gestures on any ROM. YES YOU CAN

I had a friend today explaining me and insisting with confidence that you can't properly use Gestures with Android 11 outside of default Launcher because you can't disable the navigation buttons.Even after I gave him my Poco F3 with Arrow OS and Nova Launcher to prove he was mistaken, he was still skeptical. So I decided to educate the "flat earthers" of No Gesture Control with other launchers on Android 11.
Some clarifications before we begin.
1. It doesn't matter what launcher you use or what phone brand you use. It works with any brand and any launcher.
2. You need a gesture navigation app. I did not tested all apps, I only use VNG, I have saved my own gesture profiles, I am used to it, I don't care about other apps, test for yourself.
3. IMPORTANT! IF YOU UNINSTALL your preferred gesture app for good, I recommend you to re-enable Navigation Buttons before. Otherwise you will have limited navigation capability until you do.
4. This will ONLY Disable/Enable navigation buttons.
Here is how it is done. I takes 1 minute. 1. You need to have root acces and Magisk installed.
2. Search for "Navigation Bar Remover" by SageDroid module and install it. If you cannot find it, I also attached the module file here. To manually install it, after you download the file to your phone, in Magisk go to install module from local storage and select this file. After the install you will restart the phone. After restart the navigation bar will be disabled. When youdecide to Uninstall this extension, the navigation bar will be re-enabled.
Good luck
I'm using Arrow OS and Nova Launcher. Didn't install any additional apps. Never come across this gesture issue that I read a lot about.
People complain about MIUI not allowing third party launchers to have their gestures in motion. Nobody mentioned gestures not working on other roms. Flat earthers are those who didn't, don't root their phones and like to settle on MEMEUI until they die.
So, I'm pretty sure other roms will welcome any third party launcher app along with their gestures since there's the power juice of root.
There are custom ROMs witch allows to hide navigation bar without root. For example AICP and crdroid.
Then gestures apps and Nova works fine.
It's about Xiaomi having removed Gestures for Users of Third-Party Launchers in MIUI 12.
This is not about Android 11 in general.
Thanks! It worked on xiaomi.eu rom.
on miui you can use setedit n change value to 1 force_fsg_nav_bar n do it again if you reboot your device

FNG or Fluid Navigation Gestures
Fluid Navigation Gestures - Apps on Google Play
Get the fluid navigation gestures of the future!
play.google.com
This is what people recommended to me. I tried it and it is really well written, but I uninstalled it and I just use Buttons for now. I'll wait for Xiaomi to re-implement Gestures. I'm ok with buttons for now.

I've tried both apps in the past, and they are unstable AF, sometimes they just stop working till you manually open them again (even if you set it to ignore the battery consumption setting and locking the app on memory).

I am talking about hiding the Navigation Buttons and use only gestures to navigate the phone.

VNG Gestures (Vivid Navigation Gestures) is available in Playstore and the top three results on Google are about this apk.
