USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio - OnePlus 2 Accessories

Does anyone know if there is a USB type-C to 3.5mm headphone adaptor that works with the OPT? My headphone jack can be a little staticy at times and I was hoping for an easy solution to this issue. Most of the adaptors on Amazon are pretty poorly rated but I tried one from the link below, and not surprisingly, it didn't work.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0TNLNO/

I don't think it supports. My USB DAC is not recognized as a external USB audio device either. OP seems does't follow USB TYPE C SPEC.

nope it dosent work
I got one from aliexpress dosent seem to work on op2

I just connected regular USB soundchip from Realtek (SteelSeries knockoff I think), using USB-C to micro and then USB micro to OTG adapter. It works.
In Developer options there is a toggle called "Disable USB audio routing", so check that too.

Yes, The microUSB port at the bottom is used for both data connections and charging. Not only does it support USB host but it also comes with MHL enabling HDTV-out connectivity with the proper adapter.
MHL is a way of using both microUSB and HDMI through the same port. The downside is you need an adapter to use a regular HDMI cable with this one.

I've tried it several times in my car with my radio that has a usb and aux port. It will not play without the special dock attachment in the usb port but I have no way of knowing if a usb to aux cable would work because I do not have one to try.
I will be constructing and selling around 10 of these cables (Micro USB to audio out+charging). Please email me or PM me on [email protected] if interested.

I made one following the instructions on one of the threads, and although it is detected as a docking cable and the system claims to route the audio through it (the steering wheel logo appears in the status bar and I get a message "car audio dock detected"), it still plays through the internal speaker. I'm having the problem with Cyanogenmod 9 and now 10. I never tried with the stock ROM, I'm assuming it works...

mod notes on the XOOM (original) standard & speaker docks

plenty of people have modded the original XOOM docks for USB host, such as here.. and here...
i also dissected the standard and speaker docks this past week, just wanted to share my observations:
standard dock:
- uses a regular charger and just passes through the ~12v to the dock charging pins
- the micro USB connection uses 200k ohms between the ID pin and ground to signal the tablet that it's in a dock
- the audio adapter circuitry (which provides the line-out) connects via the micro USB port and is powered completely via that port (not via the external charger connection)
speaker dock:
- uses a separate charger that comes with the dock, rated at 19v and 1.58 amps. the extra power is likely needed to drive the amp for the speakers
- the internal circuitry steps the voltage down only to ~13.3 volts for the tablet charging pins. interesting that they didn't need to be more precise, i guess the tablet's own internal regulators can accept a bit of a range (not just 12v)
- the micro USB ID pin to ground connection is at 200k ohms just like in the standard dock
- the audio adapter is connected via the micro USB just like in the standard dock.
- the HDMI port is completely a pass-through to the external plug on the dock, it provides no functionality to the dock circuitry
i converted the standard dock's microUSB connector to a USB OTG cable for a carputer project. of course by doing this i lost the audio adapter functionality. so i then tried to convert the audio adapter into a regular USB accessory and hook it up via the OTG cable and a powered hub (to enable me to get USB host AND still use the audio adapter). this didn't work and i'm really not sure why. it just wasn't seen at all (nothing new in the dmesg output). i at least expected to see an unrecognized accessory from dmesg if nothing else.

One Plus 3T OTG and Micro USB to type C adaptors/ Oneplus3t OTG capabilities

I had some initial difficulty getting a micro usb OTG cable working, I ended up testing a few and thought I would share in case it saves anyone else some time or money.
if anyone else has adapters they've tried feel free to list them
I actually haven't tried a straight USB type C OTG cable yet, all have been micro USB OTG units with a micro USB to type C converter since I already had so many lying around.
First off I should mention not all micro usb to USB type C converters support OTG.
this Meenova one does and works with the oneplus 3t: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018G6IK7E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
with that converter pretty much any OTG adapter will work.
Charging also works.
This micro USB OTG adaptor is nice because its so low profile.
I tested it with a flash drive and it works fine with the Meenova adapter listed above.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0196FG4DG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This Samsung adapter also works well with the Meenova adapter, it has quite a few features which I tested on the Oneplus 3t, its expensive though so unless you have a Samsung tablet as well its not likely to be worth it for most people:
built in features:
two USB ports
Ethernet port
Charging port for simultaneous charging and OTG
On the Oneplus 3t both charging and OTG work fine but not at the same time.
whichever you plug in first is what it will use until you unplug and re-plug in the adapter.
That being said my understanding is that this is likely just a kernel limitation, it was the same way on the nexus 7 and a custom kernel enabled the simultaneous charging.
I'm not sure how useful that would be on a phone but I thought I would mention it.
Both USB ports work simultaneously, I connected two flash drives and both were picked up by the phone right away.
I wasn't able to get the Ethernet port working, or at least there was no indicator that it was working (My samsung tablet gives a notification that the Ethernet is plugged in but Samsung may have added that, I'm not sure) I'll play with it some more later.
Adaptor link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J2N0GB4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and lastly I tried this micro USB to type c adapter and charging works but OTG does not:

Thanks for your post about OTG adapters. Do you have any updates on this issue? I'm looking for possible adapters but cannot find any.
The Meenova adapter is not available in Europe and also seems not to be available from Amazon.com anymore. I can also disadvise from Anker USB adapter because it doesn't work.
What I'm looking for is an USB typ-C to microUSB adapter for audio output via USB.
Anker adapter supports dash charge (works with oppo vooc power bank). I am trying OTG now, but I have some cheap OTG dongle (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pc...G-adapter-for-HTC-for-Samsung/1734417126.html) and I am not sure if it works at all Anyway OTG via Anker is not working for me at this moment.

Type-c earphones with no audio

Hi, I picked up a pair of type-c earphones from AliExpress for my Mi A1 which is running Pie with the March update. However, my phone doesn't detect them and no audio is sent to them either. Any ideas?
Not all TypeC speaker/earphone devices are the same. I also tried that with a friend's TypeC earphones and it didnt work. I attached a USB DAC Dragonfly Red via an OTG adapter (Type C Malr to Type A Female) and I got audio out from it.
It seems you'll need a type C headphones that has a built in USB DAC or use a USB DAC in-between like I did.
Some type C earphone are just wired to take advantage of the additional wires in USB3 TypeC and so the phones output the analog audoo through these additional lines. This also makes them incompatible with other brands too. Meanwhile, the A1 has a USB2 TypeC and so also only has the 4-5 lines of microUSB B.
Bottomline: use the 3.5mm audio out of the phone or use a USB DAC to output audio thru USB TypeC.

Usb type c to jack adapter

Don't believe these support USB-C audio.
