[Rom][15April]Ascend XT - CleanRom B160 - Huawei Ascend XT ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Othe

CleanRom
Version 2 is now Up !

Here's what I did, I removed all the AT&T bloatware and most of the Google Apps
while adding Root / Busybox / Nova Launcher / A custom EMUI 5 theme / and a couple of useful apps
We Fixed the IMEI problem and everything is stable Thanks @madvane20 for your help
~Download For B160.v2~
~Download for B160.v1~

Flashing instructions.. You Must already be on the Correct firmware. (If you need to get to B160 Click here)
CleanRom will Wipe your internal Data partition ...Make sure you have a Backup !
You must Mount - System / Cust and Data before you start the install. After install wipe cache / dalvik and reboot.
As Always Make a backup before you flash in case anything goes wrong
Important: After you setup your phone boot to TWRP and make a Backup - I found a bug where Play Store and FireFox just Stop working (won't open)
If this happens you can restore your backup and everything works again.
Thanks @skuly
This seems to fix the play store error
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71447841&postcount=52
So far this rom seems to have a lot better performance.
When I first installed the rom Play store wouldn't launch after my first reboot. So I installed play store from HERE and it didn't fix it but when I went to settings>Apps and disabled play store it asked to uninstall playstore and restore the default so I did that and then re-enabled play store and everything has been fine since then.
So far the phone hasn't been lagging like stock was but I think I might need to give it a few more days because stock was fine at first too but then was always eating ram.

Same folder is in the internal storage if you don't mind them taking space their

Thanks for the continued efforts.

IMEI Changed
Just flashed this and my IMEI changed. I flashed the B150 Backup and my number returned. I saw in the other thread this was happening but the issue still is still in this build at least. The rom looked good for the 10 minutes I was using it!

I had the exact same issue. Unfortunately and quite unusual of me, I didn't make a b150 backup, but my imei returned when restoring your b150 pre root backup from your other guide. The rom was pretty smooth for the five minutes I used it though.
Also thanks for the b130 to b150 update guide! I followed all the directions and went from b130 to b150 without a problem!

Sorry for the inconvenience I'm Pretty sure it's fixed now if you would like to try it again ...I appreciate the Feedback

Thanks! I found that site before you responded and was hoping there was something better. I had tried putting the .hwt file in the local/external SDs in both HWThemes and the .cache folder, and the theme just would not show up in the Theme app. I got it to show up by putting it in /system/themes . Tried again today and now it's working fine just putting the .hwt file in external HWThemes folder . Which theme file is shown in OP?

Sometimes a reboot is needed for the theme's to show in the Theme app.
The theme used in the ROM is called OTA_black.
@divineBliss
any of the Themes for the H5x should work fine also

If you flash this ROM on B130 your WiFi will be disabled.
The ROM is built on B150
I have a guide on updating to B150
Use it then this ROM works

@clsA,
Note: Please correct your first link - it's not the 5X thread.
Thanks! I'll have to check out the other two links. Didn't care for OTA black because it's doesn't display the text description of each category in the phone settings window, just a small icon. This black theme is what I finally settled on:

link fixed - check out VUi in the 5x forum
also the OTA black does have descriptions in the Settings screen just use nova to set the font to off white

Which font would that be? Seems like a theme that doesn't require me to do that additional step is the better implemented theme.

It's Nova that's overrides the Font
Not the Theme

Doesn't happen with other themes and AFAIK Nova Launcher does not affect fonts outside of itself, so I don't know where this comment comes from. Tell me the exact steps in Nova to change the font for OTA black then, as I don't see anything in Nova Settings . Been using Nova Launcher for years.

Man, there's multiple different places to set fonts in Nova Launcher, that why I said "Tell me the exact steps in Nova to change the font... " .
I'm not convinced Nova Launcher font color affects phone settings font color. Show me a screen shot after you change it to red. Besides, non of my Nova fonts are black anyway.
EDIT: WELL GOSH DARN .. I thought I figured it out, but no luck . Anyway, I'm good with the N theme I previously mentioned .

[APP / THEME] Inverted Jelly Bean Google Apps / Black & Blue

Hi everybody,
OP UPDATED :
I just wanted to share these beautifull Inverted Black and Blue Apps. I'm only a messenger here, and had the kind authorisation and support of NCANDIANO to post these here for everybody. Please thank him, and most important, go show your love on ROMDROIDHACKS Forum, which is really great !
I didn't made these, so I'll take no credits. Please thank NCandiano, and ROMDROIDHACKS :
Original Thread here : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-twistedx-theme/
The amazing TWISTED(X) Theme, made by NCANDIANO, will only work with KILLROMS , but as he's a real Gentleman, he made separate inverted apps only package, for us to use with all other Roms (should work on all J.B ROMS.)
What you'll find (Quoted from Twisted(X) Thread) :
Inverted (Black and Blue) GApps & Extras:
TwistedAppsOnly: http://db.tt/DX8nht1F (Contains for your pleasure: Updated Contacts, Calendar, Gmail, MMS, and Keyboard, Google Now, Email, Calculator, Google Talk, Phonesky(market))(This pack can be used with any 4.1.1 Roms. Google Now may have to be installed seperately, however.)
Flashable App-Zips: For your convenience. In the event you'd like to sample one or two flavors, this is the menu. Have at it.
Gmail: http://db.tt/1veBVDpY
Calendar: http://db.tt/nOxUy7b4
Contacts: http://db.tt/ezCjuaxC
MMS: http://db.tt/dXKhhsf2 (This is the Mms from KillRom, with QuickText)
Keyboard: http://db.tt/VbXsfbbI
GoogleNow: http://db.tt/jDLqcwM0 (You need to be on the updated Google Search from the market for this to work. See disclaimer above regarding if it doesn't take on the first flash!)
GoogleTalk: http://db.tt/waeB0yuJ
Email: http://db.tt/rJ4R5xbd
Calculator: http://db.tt/sYd5V5o6
Market(Phonesky): http://db.tt/H2T9fhVz
FOR BETTER AND NICER AND BIGGER SCREENSHOTS, WELL GO TO : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-twistedx-theme/
I particularly advise using these apps with the wonderful RASBEANJELLY ROM, which is already all Black and Blue : http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=rasbeanjelly&device=maguro
OR of course using the Original Theme with KILLROMS : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/
Instructions for flashable zip : wipe cache and dalvik, flash and reboot.
If you want to revert to stock apps...then you'll have to flash again your Rom after having performed a cache and dalvik wipe.
Usual Disclamer : I'm not responsible for the damages that these could eventually cause to you phone. I suppose you're grown-up people, so you don't need me to hold your hand...blah, blah,.......BUT these apps should not harm your phone if you follow instructions...
Yay... Looking good.
Thanks for sharing.
Would it be possible for me to edit the text (e.g in Gmail) to white?

Has anyone managed to install the quicksearch inverted app? I tried both installing it as a normal apk file and moving it to system/app/ after removing velvet.apk (which should be the normal app) but in the first case I get an error message saying it's not a valid apk file and in the second case it doesn't pop up anywhere in my installed apps list after rebooting the device. Thank you.

That's strange....
Try this one and report ; you don't need to delete first the old one, just put the new one in system/app folder, it will override it, and the phone will reboot.

Oh, that's must be why then. I had moved out of the /system/app folder the original velvet.apk in my attempts. Now even if I move it back to the app folder, the stock google search app won't appear in the apps list no matter what. I guess I have to flash gapps again and then follow your procedure.

Yes, i think deleting first the file must "disturb" the system somehow...
Try with the Quicksearchbox in OP, and if it doesn't work, then try the Velvet one.
Instead of deleting or moving the original files. Just rename them. Then it's easy to undo the changes.
Remember to check that permissions are set.

You are right, I should've just renamed it. That was my bad, I thought that following the rootzwiki inverted gmail client installation procedure would work with those apk as well (mount /system for W permissions as root, delete /system/app/gmail.apk and then install the custom gmail.apk as a normal apk file).
For the record's sake, I've tried flashing latest gapps but I couldn't manage to make google search pop again. Maybe I should just do a clean flash of the rom again and try with the correct procedure.
What's strange is that i'm using too Rasjellybean 9th Aug , and i installed this without any issue.
So volapyk is right , this could be a permission problem.
Vaalen , have you tried the velvet apk too ?
And before reflashing default gapps , have you wipe cache and dalvik ?
Flashable Zips- Black Velvet Forthcoming
I added the apks into flashable zips. They're generic zip flashers they'll work in any recovery. Just wipe cache/dalvik and flash. It's not always just the name with the QSB apk, so I'm going to put together a Velvet.apk when I get home later, in the meantime these should make for easier installs for those who don't want to be messing around in the system/app folder. I'm PMing you the links because XDA won't let me link (not enough posts,) If you would update the OP I'd appreciate it.
**Black and blue UI, Framework, and Inverted Notifications Shade are only supported at the HIVE for Axiom ROMs at the moment.
Enjoy your JellyBean!
OP is updated with your flashable zip NCandiano, again a huge thank to you. As i said i just wanted to use these apps on other roms, and pulled these from your beautiful PZ Theme, and with your permission posted here.
But i didn't think you'd come and offer us even better ! That's great mate ! You deserve your own thread for your own work buddy ! I'm just a user who appreciate and share your work.
Flashed MMS apk and gmail apk. MMS apk works great except when you click a thread on the main screen the area you click doesn't highlight. Is this how it should be? Also gmail apk only screen that is dark is the main home screen. When you click to read an email it is white. Normal as well? Thanks!

1. Unzip the theme to a folder in your sd card
2. Go to market and install the metamorph app.
3. Use View attachment UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk to root your phone if you are not root already, or my advice-if you have the time for it-is to install a custom rom.
4. Enable USB debugging in settings-applications-development.
5. Open the metamorph app that you installed earlier.
6. Tap "pick existing theme"
7. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the theme to, and then select the "ICS_theme_1.0.xml" file to let metamorph know how to use the theme.
8. Follow the prompts and when it reboots, just let it, as it needs to reboot to edit system files, much like chkdsk on windows.
9. Enjoy! This theme has a black statusbar and holo buttons much like the ones in ICS -correction- they are the original buttons, taken directly from the source! Give me feedback if you think there is anything missing
P.S. I am working on a video tutorial on how to install cyanogenmod, so if you are having trouble rooting your phone, then it will hopefully help.

Yeah bro, I tried it but nothing change, I used the metamorph.apk from market and followed what you have said, but I think its not suitable for the rom I'm using.
But thanks for the help you given me... :good:
you might need to adjust the reboot timeout in metamorph settings, so that it doesn't reboot in the middle of the operation.
You might try ninjamorph, but no promises. What ROM are you using? If you want, I can email you a copy of the one I know it works for.

hello bro, sorry for the late reply, recently I tried it on EzGingerBread but it failed when I apply it nothing happen but now I'm on CM 6.1stable (I don't want gingerbread builds I find them so slow on my phone) thanks in advance.
That's funny, I just moved to ezgingerbread. I'm not actually finding it that slow with the ram hack. I literally flashed it about 15 minutes ago, and this was sent using it. By the way, I found that It only really worked for the rom i had included the name of in the xml file. I'm working on bringing holo to gingerbread as we speak though....

Send me a link, that sounds awesome! However, is it compatible with the ezterry ram hack?
Yes it is, its themed by darinx (probably butchered his name) there are two ROMs actually, one based off froyo by Laszlo and one of dream team froyo, two of the better froyo builds for the dream
Check the dev threads and youll find it within the first few pages
Also andisa (probably butchered his name too) made a great ICS theamed version of ezgingerbread that all includes some additional tweeks, I don't believe he ever created an xda thread but I can find you the link if your interested

Just want to ask what was the things you did to make G1 still great even with live wallpapers under the gingerbread version?? heheh,,,thanks in advance,,,
what I did to speed it up was remove some apps that were running in the background, such as dialer, which was taking up a solid 7mb of ram all the time. I now have a pretty consistent 42mb of ram while at my launcher, adw ex. While it won't beat any phone at a benchmark, it will run quite smoothly while flipping between launcher pages. Try using swap and a task killer, I am using smart ram booster and have the widget situated over the clock on the statusbar for whenever I want a quick boost in speed.

All theme can't use anymore after latest update !!!

yup... Today I was disappointed to Asus, after update to ver os Z00A-2.20.40.156_20151218_8265, all themes that do not exist in playstore unusable anymore .. why ASUS did this?
Yes. I have same problem. Satisfying with Material theme and got rekt
Not the best way to do it but... The Asus Rom comes with 2 pre installed themes: fresh green and lovely pink. So what I did was I've replaced lovely pink apk with material theme apk from Google play. For that you need root permissions. The downloaded themes from Google play are in data/app and stock themes in system/priv-app.
how you root with new firmware os ? can u give me specifik link or tutor maybe... thnks bedman77
You can look in the general section of zenfone 2 the resource thread for methods to root your phone. But if you don't know what you are doing you can loose a lot more in the process and all this for a theme... Don't think it's worth it.

For that you need root permissions. The downloaded themes from Google play are in data/app and stock themes in system/priv-app.

My phone is rooted and have the same problem after the latest update. Themes not from ASUS cannot be loaded.
Only solution at the moment is to downgrade to previous version:

no problem with zen launcher...what i meant here is how to make all 3rd theme (sistem ui) like material light can work again @ latest update os/firmware ..... fyi i'm using zen 2 551ml 4/32 ... thnks
This phone is going backwards from good to bad. The more Asus updates it, the more I went from having a best phone ever attitude to wanting my POS Samsung Galaxy back, at least they didn't change their base design every firmware update. Also on the .156 update (I also did a full phone restore from fastboot level) the battery is going anywhere from 10-30% an hour at random.
I was angry today when I flashed the update as the theme I was using vanished. Asus needs to fix it........
Asus changed so many things on their theme store. After the commercialization of their launcher (available on most phones running 4.3+), all themes for ZenUI are now splitted into two:
• Free version, only themes desktop
• Paid version, also themes notification bar, and others (only for Asus devices running stock ZenUI)
But, who cares about Asus' changes? Somewhat irritating, but theming is still possible with RRO. I don't use their launcher because it's a memory killer

I've taken a theme that I renamed, changed permissions and replaced the AsusLovelyPinkTheme.apk with in both the root system/priv-app AND the storage/emulated/0/system/priv-app but I still get the actual pink theme loading. I've tried to uninstall the Lovely Pink Theme but my phone reboots. I've also cleared data on the AsusThemes app beforehand and switched to it, but to no avail.
The phone has it stored somewhere else, I just can't figure out where...
I'm interested too in this solution. I have superzen installed, that does not come with lovely pink and flashgreen. So what I could do is: installing one theme from Asus theme shop, locating the folder of apk and replace it with material apk. The only problem is that I can't locate that folder!!!
Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00AD utilizzando Tapatalk
I"ll have to get back on you guys since I don't own the phone anymore but doing that switch between themes it made material theme appear in the theme store under the name of a pre installed theme.
PS: Not sure if it's okay to suggest this but I'm wondering if replacing for ex the res folder found in the lovely pink theme apk or in the default theme apk with the res folder from the theme of your choice would do any good and then sign back the apk. To find the res folder you need to unzip the apk.
Or simply downgrading the Asus Theme app to see if it does any good .
I found a previous versions of theme apk and and put it in system/privapp where the original apk is. After rebooting the phone theme app does not work anymore (crash).

It's not working.I even used Apk tool to change some elements,so I can at least I can use those two and by doing that, they stopped being visible!

the problem there is because asus when they got rid of the support they also pushed it as a minor update not just a playstore app update so reverting back is not that simple.
after update to WW_20.20.40.164 still no hope for theme ... asus seems not respond to its complaint

I use nova launcher, I wanted to remove the pre installed version of you because of the language (I can not find the option to change it), but in the end I decided to keep this also because I have seen that it is the premium version

There is a guide here. You can also find the similar tools on xda (sda2img and ext2explorer), but this guy made the python script to run directly as a .exe. It worked just fine for me.

BUGs so far.
1.
Whenever i tap my carriers icon in the drop down notification panel the DATA CONNECTION is always On.And if you toggle it back off anf check again its On again.
2.
Cannot toggle 2g only. It always switches back to LTE.
I dont really use DATA conn because service here is just horrible. So having it to 3g/LTE will just contribute to more battery drain.
But over all rom is working fine and no random reboots and no youtube lag so far.

In galaxy store you can find a lot of fonts, but most of them have a cost, I have seen that you can use substratum to change fonts, but, I think you have to pay for something, I dont know the exact details, but look here in xda about substratum and hex installer

Yes, the link I posted works fine for non rooted devices, you just need to follow the instructions, is not very complicated, a little tricky but if you read properly, you'll make it. Tell us where you got stuck.
Thank you so much ? i did it well
I extracted the apks to the folder names "monofonts" on my internal memory, when inside the folder and installed, got a prompt that said font have been installed, then head over to the display serttings to install the new fonts and it tells me "this font is not supported. Contact the font provider. Uninstall this font?"
I have Tmobile Note 10 plus One UI 2.1.
Any suggestions?

Don't install from the folder, use the #mono_ apk that will recognise the folder and install the desired font. Yes you can uninstall the one you have then use the, let's call it, app font manager.
The app in the playstore called 'zFont' also has a bunch of monofonts you can install for oneUI on Android 10.
I made a tutorial regarding this. Hope it helps!
1. Make sure you are signed into your Samsung Account.
2. Install zFont 3 from the Play Store.
3. Go to Dashboard and open Monotype fonts.
4. Find CirceRounded font (2066th font).
5. Tap it twice to download and then install it.
6. Change the device's font to the new one.
7. At your phone's Settings, go to "Accounts and backup" and then to "Back up data" under Samsung Cloud.
8. Select only "Settings" and back it up.
9. Change the device's font to the default one.
10. Back to zFont 3, go to Local and tap on the "Aa" button.
11. Select the font you have downloaded that you like.
12. Tap on "APPLY" twice to uninstall CirceRounded and install your own font.
13. Do not change the font in your phone's Settings!
14. At your phone's Settings, go to "Accounts and backup" and then to "Restore data" under Samsung Cloud.
15. Select only "Settings" and restore it. Don't delete the backup.
16. Android will be tricked into thinking that it's applying again CirceRounded but it will actually apply your custom font!
17. You may repeat this process from step 9, for every other font, now.
NOTE: If your font isn't a ".ttf" file, you may convert it online or use zFont Tool to convert ".otf" to ".ttf"!
