- Start the bonding dialog until you get the password screen
- Now launch the explorer and start the executable (you will get a small message)
- Get back to the password screen (if you don't find it click on the BT icon in the today screen)
- Characters are now enabled

I have downloaded the file from
http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/EnableCharPin.zip
and looked for the exe file, to run in my xda2.
The exe is a PC installer (didn't work in my xda - not a valid win32 app...)
I finished the installtion process, and now in my add / remove programs i have "Bluetooth Character Password Enabler".
But when i'm trying to bond with my Navman,
still only numbers can be entered. :roll:
Any idea?
(maybe someone have the EXE to run on my ppc, not the installer?)

This is a bit unclear, I used towa´s patch like said earlier, followed exactly the instructions and could enable the charpin, and enable my navman
just download and COPY the patch to your xda true activ sync or whatever, and the start the bonding procedure, and when the screen for the pasword comes up, you lanch the explorer on your xda look for the charenable pin, click on it, it will give the message charpin now enabled, close the explorer and type in NAVMAN in big font, and it works perfect.

I tried to do the process as explained:
copyed the file EnableCharPin.exe into my ppc
(via active sync), turned on my navman,
start BT, look for devices, found the navman gps one, next,
and now when the password screen appears i went to "my documents", clicked on the file, and than the error message 'EnableCharPin' is not a valid Pocket PC application" appears.
Any idea?
I saw a post in the forum about registry key or hack, to enable it,
whithout further information.

Problem with EnableCharPin
The work that has gone into tying to solve the issue is impressive.
Unfortunately I have the same experience with the response 'EnableCharPin' is not a valid Pocket PC application'

I have NAVMAN GPS and have the same error. Can anyone explain how is it possible that one can run Windows installer on XDA??
I have just installed this WIDCOMM BT manager. This thing at least is not asking for any pincode so I can easily establish the connection but later on i am not getting any data on the port. I am using ArcPad application by ESRI and I am supposed to use port 8 for GPS.
Can anyone tell me why there is no data comming thru the port?
Another problem is that the connection is lost after few minutes...

I did hard reset (upgraded my os / radio to 1.66.00 , 1.10.00)
disabled multilingual support,
installed the exe (FROM MY PC, NOT FROM THE DEVICE ITSELF),
and it solved the problem.
In the pairing process I managed to write NAVMAN (capital letters!),
without any problem

Navman bonding
I dont have a problem getting the XDA II to bond with it, the problem I have is I can only select Com 7 in the Bluetooth tools menu and when I go to set up the GPS in Smartst it wont let me select Com 7.
Anyone have any ideas
I have a XDA and a Navmann 4100. A couple of weeks ago my Navmann dealer sent me the patch EnableCharPin & BTHTools1012 and I started the bond between the PPC and the 4100 and all went fine but a couple of days ago I suffered and full reset on the ppc and now I can not bond the ppc and the 4100 anymore.
Can someone tell what shall I do to bond once again the ppc and the 4100?
I have tried several times with the same process as before (EnableCharPin & BTHTools1012) but I had no succes, the ppc does not allow me to write Navmann, it only lets me write numbers.

I had this same problem when I had to do a hard reset with mine couldnt get it to rebond. The only way I managed it was to re install the character enable program. It seems to be specific on which order you do it unfortunately I cant remember what it was. I had to try it a few times myself for it to work.
The way I have managed to do it in the past is to make sure the PPC device is connected to your PC via active synch when you attempt to enter the characters (NAVMAN) That seems to in some way enable the enablecharaterpin software on the PPC. Let me know how you get on.

Installing from CD or from onine driver I get identical results. Working with Windows Mobile 5.
The PC shows this message:
Could not delete registry: SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\{FD32EBD5-A526-44C0-8464-5BC3F4136F60}\\WceIniFiles\\Install
while at the same time the PDA shows: Keyboard installed and ready to use.
Then after a PDA restart (automatic) I get this:
Keyboard Driver Error! The Keyboard driver StowawayXT.dll is not responding. Please reinstall.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times!!!
Then when I go into "Program Files" and press the Keyboard icon, I get this:
The Keyboard language file StowawayXTRes.dll has not been loaded on the system. Please use the correct installation process.
I can select the Stowaway as text input but nothing happens when I press keys.
I don't know anything about programming. I just hope to run the installation and everything works... so I'm in big trouble now!!! Anyone have a clue?

I bought a Bluetooth Mini Keyboard from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200545467378) as it said its compatible with Android 1.6+.
After it finally arrived, it took me 9 hours to get it to work!
I tried everything to get it to work, I followed the steps on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715913
AND http://i-miss-erin.blogspot.com/2009/09/connect-bluetooth-keyboard-in-android.html on the Roms 071110-1651-r9-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom & oxygen-1.0.4.
My last attempt was to try the OpenDesire-4.0.36 and then following the steps from the xda-dev link above, and to my surprise, it JUST WORKED!
All I did was use the blue_sign.zip with Clockworks Recovery as soon as I flashed the device, then paired the keyboard with the phone. No hassel following the other steps of hciconfig, hcitool or hidd.
Does anyone know why this is? What does one have that the other doesn't?
Oxygen rom did not pair with the device at all but did respond to the hcitool, hciconfig and hidd commands from gscript lite.
Modaco did pair, but did not respond to the hidd, hciconfig or hcitool commands from gscript.
Any help with this will be VERY appreciated.

Is there a way I can add back the Google play so i can add a few apps to the system? The system has a USB port.

I was going to say - put a file manager app on to the usb - I would have provided you with a file manager app
wait for usb files to show up and install app but
a file manager would be needed to show the USB and install an app manually anyway
I mod android and I have my own rom but I can't think of anyway other than....

Installing APK
Hi,
Did you manage to install an APK?? Or did you get any answers regarding this issue?
Just an idea because I don't have this in my car:
connect it to a laptop, and use "adb" tool to install the APK files you wish.
Question is, how would you root it after that, and whether converting apps into system apps would work in order to install play-services and play-store.

Does this android work properly with the 2016 mitsubishi outlander can you use your original gps antenna, rear & side view camera are you able to get your cars A/c settings etc on the screen? If not can anyone recommend a proper android system?
I managed to activate developer options
Today I managed to activate developer options in my car (Mitsubishi Outlander) by going to input devices -> Voice input, I played a bit with it, I set the default to English and downloaded offline recognition, afterwards I pressed the small question mark in the upper corner and there it tells you that you don't have google services, there's a button there that suggest to install it, I pressed it and later I noticed that I have developer options (not sure which step actually enabled it, If someone can repeat it step-by-step and tell it will be great).
Anyhow now i'm stuck again since I can't connect usb and push apk, I tried with male-male usb but it didn't worked.
If anyone got any idea please share.
Details I have on the device:
When you reboot it and long press the screen it takes you to fastboot mode, when you hold volume up in the steering wheel it takes you to recovery .
The model I have is Flyaudio G8508

Today I managed to fetch the latest fup update file, it seems like the vendor update utility fetch it from some dropbox account but I didn't managed to get the url just to get the downloaded file.

The unit is "Pickey" when it comes to the use of different DOK's
please make sure you format the DOK to FAT32 first
than if not working please try another DOK it should identify and work.

I got my system on my Mitsubishi updated - unfortunately i payed for it...
Still if I could help in this forum I will.
I can install any app and have full access to google play.
However some option are still missing.
e.g. when i connect my PC to the system it is not show at all.
i was thinking i could somehow create a full system backup (image) and then turn the backup to an update file.
If anyone can offer a way to enable the use option, that is that my system would appear on my pc i could try it.
I have developer option and usb debugging on via an app i downloaded.
If i can do it in any other way I can try.
Another thing i was thinking of is to create a full backup and later restore, from the recovery mode but there are only option for update in the recovery mode.
Is it possible to allow/add the restore/backup option ?
Does anyone know of any Mi MIX 2 kernels that support using the device as an HID keyboard? Looking to get an app like Authorizer working to send a password to a device, but it looks like the most recent details for Android Keyboard Gadget are about a year old, & for kernel versions 3.x.
Pretty much just looking to use my phone as a keyboard without needing any software on the device I'd like to use it on.
Longer version of why I'm trying to do this:
I have Xubuntu running on my Surface Laptop, with the modified kernel to get the keyboard working. Unfortunately, the keyboard only starts working once the OS is booted, so I cannot use it to type in my Disk Encryption password. If I could get my phone working as an HID keyboard, send the password when I connect, I could then continue to use my laptop as normal until I needed to restart.
Had you any luck with it? A first look into the LineageOS kernel for the msm8998 revealed, that you probably don't need to patch the kernel as it integrates FunctionFS/ConfigFS. You would need to get root on the device and then configure HID over it.
