after flashing twrp and Dirty Unico by davidevinavil, can i now relock the bootloader? - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

after flashing twrp and Dirty Unicorns by davidevinavil
i flashed it for someone else and i want to be on the safe side. so...
can i now relock the bootloader?
will the phone will be able to receive rom updates OTA?

Don't it will brick your device and you'll probably just boot into 900e mode after that, so save yourself headache and don't. You can only relock it safely on an original rom (at least in my experience).
OTA Updates won't be received i had DU on, some time but don't know if they provide ota updates through it.

thanks for answering
i will take your advise.

whats the boot loader locking/unlocking process in z2 plus.
I have an experience with Sony Xperias , there we had to backup the TA partition before unlocking boot loader to relock it again later.
Is it just switching in developer tools in z2 plus?

so just flashing an official stock ROM with QFIL relocks the bootloader again?

Yes, that's right. If you want to flash a custom rom, there is no way to safely relock the bootloader as of now that i know of. Some have tried and couldn't recover their phone without taking off the back, unplugging the battery, connecting cables etc. that's just a mess to deal with. So don't - it doesn't give you anything.
I can't recall it exactly right now but maybe you'll have to use the relock command via fastboot. Other than that it should work easily with an original ROM, which is newly flashed via QFIL. You can check the current status by looking at the last line in the Bootloader, there should be a line with "Bootloader = locked/unlocked/relocked". Some People on the ZUK Forums wrote that flashing a certain original ROM via QFIL locked the Bootloader like it was "new", maybe the 1.9 ZUI but i can't confirm it, you'd have to look through the Forum.
The command to check it out is:
"adb fastboot bootloader"

how to unlock bootloader????

im getting the pixel 2xl tomorrow from google. .. i want unlock bootloader . could someone that has success unlocking boatloader, please make a quick step by step guide for windows.
i have latest ADB installed in windows.
Should be the same as the XL. Go into fastboot and type in:
fastboot flashing unlock
fastboot reboot
first go to developer settings and check oem unlocking
Same as the Pixel 1...
ok... i thought i read it was different somewhere. i been trying to find post.
in google site they have an extra line https://developers.google.com/android/images#taimen

If necessary, unlock the device's bootloader using one of the following methods:
If you are updating a Nexus or Pixel device that is manufactured in 2015 or later, run this command:
fastboot flashing unlock
For some devices, for example, Pixel 2 XL, the critical partitions may also need to be unlocked before flashing. The unlock can be performed with this command:
fastboot flashing unlock_critical

The critical unlock goes a step further and allows users to flash custom bootloaders, which are usually only necessary for removing certain security restrictions or occasionally for adding special features.

Can anyone confirm whether running fastboot flashing unlock_critical will wipe your device? I've already run fastboot flashing unlock, which of course does wipe the device, but now I need to know if this new command will do so as well. EDIT: After reading over that android police link, this appears to be nothing new so I doubt this will be required on the Pixel XL 2 now in order to have root since it wasn't required for the 6P or the OG Pixels. This could have changed with the new Pixels, so we'll have to figure out if the critical command is actually needed.
do you think the critical unlock would work against magisk in anyway? I just want to unlock so i can root and get adaway, but use magisk when available to still have android pay and netflix

the unlock_critical is not needed for now
you only need it is flashing a custom bootloader
but for anything else you don't need it
root- recovery -roms - oem update - original bootloader
at least that what the dev google site says
I'm still waiting for the TWRP boot loader to be ready for 2XL. Seeing that I'm probably getting the phone either the end of this week or next week, we still have time.
FYI...you don't have to unlock your bootloader to achieve root. You can still root a phone and have a locked bootloader. Unlocking the bootloader is to allow custom recovery flashing, such as TWRP. Personally, TWRP is a must for me and I always unlock my phone.

Yeah, I guess you're right. It depends on the phone and root method. If you're using SuperSU or magisk you'd have to unlock the bootloader. IDK. Just forget everything I said. LOL

it'd be pretty awesome if someone found a way to root with a locked bootloader. I believe the S8/Note 8 has been rooted with a locked bootloader, now only if this was somehow brought into the world of the pixel. lol.

Unlock_critical is needed to even flash stock bootloader's. To flash 8.1 preview I had to unlock_critical to update the boatloader to even get passed. It's a required check.

Bootloader Is Unlocked, but says "bad key"

Hi, i unlock the bootloader in my Moto G5. I tried root and TWRP from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/how-to-root-moto-g5-plus-t3579659
and fail. So i install stock rom with ADB. It works fine but when start phone i have this information:
"Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted. ID- Bad key"
Is that a problem with that ? I have unlock bootloader ? That " bad key" information is cinfused me

It will always say that on stock rom with unlocked bootloader
It will say n/a if you are using a custom rom
Nothing to worry about - obviously don't try to flash any stock rom otas until you fully reflash stock firmware
You can always flash a modded boot splash screen to get rid of the your phone is unlocked warning
So if I notify "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted. ID- Bad key"
I do not have anything to worry about ?

Nothing at all to worry about just flash a modded boot IMG but do not apply any ota update as it will soft brick your device but I would go all out custom as it makes the phone works as it should and not buggy software lenovo put in it

You need to flash twrp through fastboot the flash custom ROM of your choice then flash root
---------- Post added at 04:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 PM ----------
Flash twrp through fastboot
Download a custom ROM with gapps and super su
Put custom ROM on to internal memory or SD card with gapps and root package
Boot into twrp format data cache art system
Then install ROM with gapps and root package through twrp
Once flashed reboot into custom ROM
Am unable to unlock bootloader of my moto g5 plus its showing unlock data unavailable
Please help me
you are in the wrong section, here is moto g5
Motorola decided it would be a good idea to warn the user they have unlocked their bootloader ever time they power on their device lmao
Nothing to worry about though, it's just an indicator. I suggest flashing one of these as they also hide the n/a: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/themes/motorola-boot-logo-n-removed-t3663735
sorry for noob question, but i recently bought moto g5s plus from a person he didn't inform me about the oem status of the phone, and as i can see right now it shows a unlocked oem and while rebooting is shows a infinity war background wallpaper before the moto "M" logo + bad key plain text and everything is okay with it.

Anyway
I'm guessing you are stock rom and you haven't swiped to allow modifications and disabled dm-verity (by for example flashing magisk)
Also make sure you are flashing the recovery and not just booting it
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I did the same command fastboot flash recovery and I did allowed allow modification
But still it got deleted
By the way I'm on stock ROM

Oh man, there should have been this kind of post a while ago. I wanted to go completely stock on emui 8 stable as I was stuck on emui 8 beta and I trusted the dload method so I locked everything up stock recovery, BL relock etc... Now, the dload fails at 5% and my phone is as good as bricked.
Can you tell me about this DC tool? How much did it cost? Even if I'm able to get rid of that frp lock, I can unlock bootloader again and flash any rom I want.

Hi, the guide never says "unlocked bootloader" so how does that Huawei tool installs twrp without Unlocked BL? Does it?
See, in my situation to unbrick my phone, all I need is to get that frp unlock. I can only do it by going into settings but my phone is all wiped out when I relocked the bootloader.
So, I saw your post in other thread about some command "fastboot frp-erase " "fastboot frp-unlcok unlock code" I know I don't remember the commands but my point is can we erase the frp with that command? or can we get frp unlock code from some service and unlock it? so I can simply Unlock BL by "fastboot oem unlock unlock code"?? I can get myself out of trouble by flashing any rom or twrp backup that I have. Now, my phone is as good as dead. Please reply!!

The DC tool is 15euros to use for 72 hours I still have it and you can use it if you want my bootloader was unlocked and frp locked but niether of those matter because the program does some back door fastboot trick to flash......... To restore your phone or at least get a working version of TWRP I recommend you install the DC tool configure the update app in the application for your device once all the files are extracted in the application it will try to flash and it will fail then it will say backdoor open and you have to have your CMD prompt ready to flash your TWRP so all you have to do is hit enter it will flash real quick then pull the cable from your phone and boot into TWRP and fix from there

Questions about carrier unlock and re-lock the bootloader

Deear All,
I just bought my z2 force (t-mobile) from internet. It is an unlocked version and i can use it with my own sim card. However, i found that it cannot update via OTA as the bootloader is unlocked. I have heard that after i re-flash the firmware, the bootloader will be relocked. I am wondering, will the flashing re-activate the carrier lock?
Also, is it correct that after I flash via Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant. the bootloader will be locked again?
Is there other method to allow the phone to get OTA again?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Unlocked bootloder won't stop an ota, but a custom logo.bin will. Chances are that the seller has also flashed a logo. When you boot you should see a warning about your bootloader being unlocked, if you don't and you just see a moto logo (or any stationary image really) then you have a custom logo which will fail otas. The easiest way to remedy this is to follow Uzephi's "How to Return to Stock' thread. Then you should get otas again. It is advised never to relock your bootloader. A good example of why would be that you have a custom logo, you relock, your phone fails to boot and you can't flash anything because you locked it. There is no real valid reason to relock your phone. As for losing carrier unlock, you shouldn't, those are usually permanent. Unless it was some hack which I doubt since I believe that is only for Spring variants. Just follow Uzephi's guide and you should be back to good.

Root method for Oppo A52

Hey everyone,
I have just purchased an oppo a52 and looking to find out if there is any root methods currently available. I have searched but unable to find any information about it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
The first thing to look for is unlocking the bootloader which is not currently doable
Regarding unlocking the bootloader in the developer options menu it has an option for OEM unlock. Forgive me as I am very very basic at this type of stuff but would that have anything to do with unlocking the bootloader?
Nope that is not enough.
There should be access to bootloader first (usually through "adb reboot bootloader"), then the command for unlocking bootloader (usually "fastboot oem unlock" or "fastboot flashing unlock") should work. But none of this is available yet
Even the full ROM is not available on Oppo website yet. So nothing to develop here!

I thought everyone said it's not able to be unlocked.
Although the setting is able to be changed in developer options. Has that only just been enabled due to an update?
So can we just enable the setting and run fastboot flashing unlock from fastboot. Backup before trying if someone does it.
it is not possible to unlock the bootloader.
The device is already over 6 months old, nothing else will happen.
With ColorOS11 many adjustments by Oppo disappear, it will be more like AOSP.
A first alpha of ColorOS11 went to the first 100 users last week.
