LineageOS developers wanted - Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe Questions & Answers

Seeing as this phone finally has bootloader unlock available, how do we go about getting some capable devs to begin supporting LineageOS for this phone?
Was the launch botched enough that there just isn't any dev interest?

I'm thinking so, It's been out a while now, no bootloader unlock and we're still (570KL) waiting for nougat.
I believe a lot of devs are waiting for the bigger better releases due out in a month or 3....
ASUS may very well have killed off dev interest before this great piece of hardware was fully recognised by our community....

Custom ROMs for Redmi Note 8 Pro

Hi. Are developers working on Custom ROM for RN8Pro. I know it is a time consuming process especially for a MediaTek device. I heard that Xiaomi had sent devices to dev for GCam and Custom ROM.
thanks good news we are waiting
They did that 2 months ago.
Nope, some of the dev have stopped their development (some aosp dev) because its new policy cause a brick issue and flash need authorized account. But hey, the miui pro currently support this device, you just have to pay a fee per month to subscribe.
Sorry to say development stopped

It just very simple the devlopers got device like months ago and yet also no roms (no beta nothing ) so what could be the reason think about it yourself:laugh:
That was months ago. Due to bricking and need to used authorised flash tool to fix it. Most of the Dev stopped working on this device. Don't expect any custom roms any time sooner if ever.
Its a great device but most probably you won't get custom rom any time sooner.

xiaomi.eu is a lot better and it's free, not supported for mediateks anymore.
MIUIPro release new versions to RN8P without problems, so I ask why xioami.eu has given up?

Check twrp by agent_fabulous. He is one of the recipients of the device(i heard only indian devs got their device). This device is prone to brick and needs xiaomi authorized account to unbock it. The dev got tired of going to xiaomi service center and paying to have his device fixed.

My source was developer himself

Any reason why devs aren't interested in ParanoidAndroid?

First off shoutouts to all the devs here who have worked hard on their own or preferred custom roms.
Just curious to know why no one hasnt or no longer interested in having ParanoidAndroid on the 7T?
I reached out to them myself as they released their Quartz 5 and preparing for Android 11 and was surprised they not only responded back, but their response itself.
I appreciate any insight from any devs and before I get the sarcastic "well why don't you do it"... I wish I was as talented and awesome as you guys with a speck of knowledge like yall.
Thanks everyone
I agree, it's a shame that Paranoid Android isn't able to get any developers or moderators to help port it over. PA is, next to stock Oxygen OS, my favorite ROM.
It doesn't help that the 7T partition system makes it difficult to even get an "official" TWP installed (there is an unofficial version you can install but from what I've read, there are still a few minor issues with it). If an official TWRP happened, you'd likely see much more development for the 7T. Mad props to mauronofrio for all of the work he's done for the 7T. His All-in-one tool is awesome.

Yes indeed but it's not the Android 10 partition system on the 7t which is causing the issue. It's the fact that OnePlus won't fix the broken decryption on the 7t. Oneplus need to fix the issue then twrp will come. But they don't seem to be interested in supporting devices just churning out new ones.

TWRP, Dev support ++ for the OP7T in future

Times are changing for oneplus. Seems like software support will be worse in the years coming.
I love my oneplus 7T. It's nearly the perfect phone for me. Right now I'm on the latest open beta, rooted with arter97 kernel. Amazing experience. Could easily keep this phone for many more years to come..
But.. If official updates is lacking, we need proper ROMs, and a functional twrp and good dev support. Is there any chance this will change in the future? Or is official twrp dead?
To the developer community out there, please correct me if I'm wrong.
The biggest obstacle to a "functional TWRP" is the decryption issue that OnePlus will hopefully address. If that gets resolved, we should see the ROM community take off. I agree that the 7T is a phenomenal phone and damned near perfect. That being said, I'd give almost anything to see Paranoid Android on this phone!
Twrp works to flash roms. Try looking into GSI for now since the twrp we have now does not support oos backup but we have a few roms guys.
What is a proper ROM according to you?
There are very stables ROM in the development section.
And you don't need TWRP at all. Convenient sure, but absolutely not needed.

You can push the zip to /cache and flash fine. TWRP is not the reason for 'lack' development. An *actual* dev would have been able to build a ROM without any need of TWRP.
There are already good ROMs here in XDA, and you can find more on Telegram.
That being said, TWRP has made lots of progress on Android 10 and 11. Dynamic partitions should be fully handled, and fastbootd tools should be working too.
Just sync the sources alongside mauronofrios tree and test away.
As said upper, twrp is not an issue for devs, neither for us to flash roms
Amount of roms simply relies on the amount of people having this device. As OP released several phones (7, 7T, 7 pro), it seems normal we have less roms.
As a counterpart, Android's updates make it more easy to port roms, and most devices now share bigger part of dev tree.
AFAIK Paranoid Android 11 was just released on 8 & 8T.
7 & 7T will follow pretty soon, just be patient. Not every dev team has all devices to build up roms.
By the way, such topic won't change anything, maybe try financially supporting devs or learning to port roms by yourself.

Future security update support

Hello, I'm new here and couldn't find an existing thread for this question. Is it likely there will be a way to continue to get Android security patches/updates after Xiaomi discontinues support for this model (which may only last for 2 years according to https://www.mi.com/global/service/support/security-update.html)? Thank you.
Custom roms would be your best bet, they tend to continue support way after official ends
Thanks, will look into that.
Xiaomi will eventually end support yeah. When that happens, you should be able to unlock the bootloader and install an AOSP based ROM. Development will be extremely mature by that time so it will probably be an even better experience than the stock firmware
Great, good to know, thanks.

I agree. Even now, with first few roms available experience is great!

Question Is anyone working on building/developing any custom ROMs for the OnePlus 9RT?

Creating this thread for devs to post if they are working towards building a ROM
Even I'm waiting for this
Bought the phone hoping that some ROM would be cooked up soon
I'm afraid we will have to longer period of time or some unofficial update only as this phone is not globally launched, dev is very slow.
Yes i feel it was a big mistake to buy this device. No TWRP, No unofficial ROM even No update from OnePlus (Android 12) as agreed.
