how hard would it be to make custom frimware for cca since chromecast v1 has it? - Chromecast Audio

Hi was wondering if someone could explain or tell me if its possible assuming it could be but probably not be able to make custom firmware for the chromecast audio since chromecast v1 has custom firmware. i love my cca its great device and hardware for the money, but with the constant disconnects with the device makes me keep switching back to my bluetooth adaptor to stream to my stereo kinda lacks the quality of sound and amp drive compared to cca. i was curious if someone has been trying to work on hacking the device or anything thanks

[REQ] Phone --> Bluetooth Speaker

Ive been searching around but cant seem to find any apps that would do this. seems to me like it would be quite simple to do. anyone know o something similar to able to quickly put something together?
Main reason at the moment is that i currently have a long wire diagonaly across my room to connect my laptop to my speakers. I just thorght it would be realy good if i could plug my phone into my speakers and then send music to it via bluetooth. Im sure other people have been in this situation where an audio cable has not quite been long enough.
Might be a bit harder but possibly this could work over wifi too and would be able to work from room to room. I expect this would require a pc client though..
any thorghts?
I would love to have something like this. The phone would behave like a bluetooth speaker or headphone (A2DP). This would be fantastic. I was looking for something like this a year ago, I thought I would find a software which helps me do this, but I was unable to find anything then. Maybe we can find something now.
I could try developing such a software if there is not anything of this sort already available. I would be glad if any experienced developer can provide us some starting points, keywords, etc., which would speed up the initial activities.
Use UPNP media server
the simpler solution is to use unpn media server over wifi networks
like twonkys media server. or xmbc
basically the computer where the files are stored will server the files to any network attached device including HTC through webbrowser.
I have my dish tv /Satellite decoder connected to home pc using vlc and watch the tv on my HTC HD using VLC
for sound files i directly load them over network disk

Bluetooth Audio Receiver
I've got a TV which supports bluetooth headphone. With such a software, I'd be able to use my HTC HD2 as a bluetooth headphone. This should turn the phone into a bluetooth audio reciver, rather than a transmitter.
I've been looking for this software for ages and appreciate any ideas.

yea this would have been good. was halfway through downloading xmbc when i realised it wont work in my case.. im at university and the wireless has some security issues that wont let it connect to my phone
also wireless drains quite a bit more battery than bluetooth and would probably have to plug in the phone each time you do this.
some great links though, now we need some bluetooth ones!!!
Is this what you need?

Let's see if I get that right:
You want to send BT stereo audio from your BT-enabled laptop to your phone, and plug your phone into speakers for audio output. Right?
Might be easier to get a bluetooth receiver for your speakers. There are some for your home audio system (e.g. at amazon).
What I did was get a stereo bluetooth headset receiver. You can use it as a bluetooth headset (in your car, on the bus, wherever) OR you can simply plug it into your speakers. Just be sure to find one with a 3,5mm plug (and not wired-on headphones) so that you can use your own headphones or plug in your speakers. There's a choice of fine receivers from
Nokia (BH-214, BH-500, ...)
SonyEricsson (HBH-DS205, HBH-DS980, ...)
Jabra (BT3030, ...)
or you can try and get a cheap but great one from the itech clip series.

no, I dont think so. thanks for the suggestion though!
we arnt trying to get sound from the phone to a bluetooth speaker but instead turn the phone itself into a speaker whcih can recieve audio from other bluetooth devices.
for example if watching a film on my laptop, i would like to plug my phone into my speakers, connect up the bluetooth, and watch rather than running a cable to the speakers which are a long way away.
Nik, you bet me by one...

to be honest ive actualy already ordered this:
http://shoponspot.com/bluetooth-20-a2dp-avrcp-stereo-music-receiver-and-handsfree-black/
I still would like to see this app developed as i can imagine future situations where this happens and i dont want to have to carry this around everywhere.
also people with bluetooth tvs im sure would prefure not to have to use another device all the time and occasionaly you get bluetooth headset transmitters in public places where this might be useful.
hope it is possible!
ooo wow! im a senior member now!!
well i received my bluetooth headset but unfortunatly it charges through the 3.5mm headphone jack so i am unable to leave it there to just work
Ive also tried plugging in a headphone splitter but it realy dosnt like that!! so that means every time i leave my room i will have to put the reciever on charge and every time i return i will have to turn it on and plug it in.
does anyone know if it would be possible to get the phone to work as a bluetooth audio reciever? seems like something it should be able to do
I'd like to bump this because I've been searching for ages for exactly this. I'd personally like to go one step further and have a client that would support A2DP and the handsfree protocol. The latter I would like to allow me to answer and initiate calls to my work mobile using my HD2 as though it was a bluetooth handsfree kit. Then I could use one phone for all my calls.
I can imagine a wide range of useful applications that other solutions like wifi audio streaming or a dedicated bluetooth audio receiver wouldn't match.
I wish I knew how to write software... Maybe if I ever have a few hundred hours of spare time on my hands I'll learn and write an app to do this.
i also want this.
please anyone help.
This would be great.. i currently have an nvidia shield tv and I can plug my normal wired headphones into the nvidia shield's bluetooth remote. The problem is the remote's battery life only lasts a few days when used like this. I would love to be able to use my mobile phone as a back up for when the nvidia remote battery dies. For some reason the nvidia remote won't charge unless my head phones are unplugged.

[Q] USB DAC with Mate

Hi there!
Recently, the 3.5mm jack of my Mate broke, but since I'm not really looking for a replacement yet, I decided to give the FiiO E18 Kunlun a try.
My thought was that if I could pass my audio through the usb port and then plug my headphones into the E18, my problem would be solved.
That was the case, but only partly.
The problem is that my Mate does not recognize the E18. I've now gotten it to work on only specifically this rom (downgraded from 4.4.4 to 4.2.2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p6/ascend-mate/dev-alpha-ver-3-t2858354, and I can only play music through it with this one app specifically: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudioplayerpro&hl=en
Being able to play some mp3 files through it is already more than I could hope for, but it could ofc still be better.
Is there any way for me to get it to work on my entire phone, or mostly specific apps like Spotify or Google Play Music?
Being able to play mp3 files and all is great, but for less I could just have bought a seperate MP3 player as well + my spotify subscription is kinda collecting dust like this
I've seen that Lollipop implemented USB DAC support, however I've found no roms for the original Mate that are based on Lollipop. Do these even exist?
Many thanks!

Wired and Bluetooth audio simultaneously?

I was hoping this was a newer Android feature but it seems to only work on my LG G4. The reason I want this is because I have my Nexus sitting at the bar between my kitchen and dining area plugged into a pair of speakers but I also want to play the audio to my soundbar in my living room over bluetooth at the same time.
Is it possible to get this feature on our Nexi somehow?
You can wait for a half-baked kernel hack which may work sometimes or get this hardware solution:
splitter
transmitter

My Car has an HDMI port hooked up to the screen. What's my best option?

Hey all,
I have a 2012 Acura TL, it has a 720p screen from the factory. There's a mod called NavTool which adds an HDMI port to the stock screen. I just finished installing the module and I now have the new input. However, what's my best option to make a "smart car" type interface? So far I bought a chromecast and set that up, but I'm having major trouble screencasting my M8's screen using a hotspot on my phone. I have a ATT Hotspot which I used to test screen mirroring with, but it's not ideal.
The car has Bluetooth for audio and calls, and normally my phone would connect to this. I'm able to change songs using the wheel controls (forward/reverse/play/pause). With the NavTool addon, the HDMI audio gets routed through my car's AUX input, so when screen casting I need to switch inputs to AUX instead of BT. As far as I know there's no way to keep audio streamed via phone's bluetooth while screen casting.
So right now, what can I do? I have an HTC M8, but I'm thinking of upgrading to either the HTC 10, or the next larger variant of the Nexus. I don't have to stick with chromecast. I can switch to any system at all, I just need ideas as to what would be the best thing to do. I don't mind spending ~$100 to get this system working. I already spend $200 on the HDMI input. Please tell me your ideas, or if you've seen something which I can do, let me know! Thanks!

LineageOS 18.1[UNOFFICIAL ROM] SM-G920F Bluetooth audio not working

Hi,
So I've been using this ROM for a while as a daily driver, but for all this time I've been forced to use the mighty headphone jack, which i don't mind using, but on the bus it would be very convenient to not have a cable in the way. The problem is that the headphones connect but the audio always plays through the normal speaker. I THINK I've tried everything but the entire reasoning behind this post is because I most definetely haven't. Hopefully there's a way to maybe reinstall the bluetooth driver/module?
To be fair, I can and have only tested LDAC headphones, as i only have those to try at the moment, if that's the main problem I don't even know how to switch them to SBC or another basic codec.
Thank you in advance for all the suggestions.
