Anyone else get the "get excited about your new S8 Plus" text from TMobile? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I got a text earlier this evening that was all about how it releases the 21st but that they're shipping mine on the 19th "prior to its release". Not sure if that means that they're releasing it early or that they're shipping it then and I should get it by the 21st.

See, that's interesting, they are NOT supposed to charge until the product ships. I'd call and ask why your card was charged if they're not shipping for another week at least?

been here done this.
ALot of times tmobile will ship out a day early. When i got my note 7. I got it 2 days before release.
They ship it with next day air 2 days before release.
SO with it being a launch date of 20/21 they will probably ship out next day air on the 18 night or 19 morning. and most will get there phones.

I'll let it be for a couple days and see if there are any movements from UPS or T-Mob. I was part of the Note 7 pre-order parade and got my hopes up for nothing.

Well, considering your credit card has been charged a week early which means that you're accruing interest for a product you won't receive for at least a week, I think I'm very special since I'm not accruing that weeks' worth of interest on my credit card as mine hasn't been charged.
So, yup. I'm not that "kind" of special. I'm the special who won't be paying for fees for a week.

For the logic impaired...
YOU are paying fees for a product that was charged to a credit card that hasn't shipped yet that means 7 days of fees for I WILL NOT be paying fees as my credit card has NOT been charged as the product hasn't been shipped yet.
If anything, I'd suggest YOU contact the credit card because YOU will be paying fees for a product that hasn't shipped and will not ship FOR A WEEK.
I, on the other hand, WILL NOT be paying fees because I have NOT had my credit card charged.

Letstalk shipping status...

Just thought the Letstalk crowd could use one of these since the Wirefly folks have one and don't seem happy about sharing that thread.

I called cause I was getting Jealous of the shipping status on Wirefly. Rep said it says that because the phone is not technically out yet. She said it will probably ship Freaking Monday and I will get it Tuesday. Since overnight shipping does not work on the weekends
Ordered monday night, had to call in to verify CC info and was told phones should be in sometime Thursday and will ship Friday.
The rep said this was not concrete so things may change.
My order shows Ready for Fulfillment, and Carrier Approval on the second status.
I cancelled my order with them...I used a referall and got $25 off making my wirefly order $125. I then went on chat and requested free overnight and they did it. I placed the order at 1pm on Wednesday, 9/14 and 3 hours later at 4pm it showed shipped. They are actually going out tomm, so I'll have it by friday
you have to ask the chat reps to "expedite your order by forwarding your account to the activation team" they will do it and next thing you know, your status is literally changing through the steps every 15 mins....they are quick!
I have a corp account which doesn't have activation fees, so I'm good. In my entire history with sprint, i've never had a single activation fee. it all depends on which corp discount you have

the main thing is you have to keep pestering them every step of the way....their status updates are deadly accurate....
i had to call in twice since it said so and as soon as I hung up, it went back to normal. Something about a mismatch with my pin. and verify my address
so keep a look out on your status ...they are really quick about it seems....
i think the main ting is to get them to give u free overnight and it will bump you
i honestly had 3 orders placed....letstalk, amazon, and now wirefly. They don't activate your account or touch your upgrade till they actually open the box to program your phone and when one does it first, others can't do it. I still cancelled both orders though
with the $$, it only places a hold on your credit card, not actually charging it till shipping. so no mess to clean up.

you can still place orders with other companies....when one gets to activating it first, they'll get it...the 2nd one will be denied and order auto cancelled since u arn't eligible for an upgrade

I was about too until I realized it would be 150 upfront and like 30days later u get the 25back. Smh I would want to buy a converter right now with that 25bucks lol.

Just called about my order that was placed on monday. She said her supervisor told her they wouldn't be getting the phone in until friday and if they got them early enough, they would go out that day. Thus making the earliest I would see it, would be monday. I got nosey and asked how many orders they had so I could find out if it may go straight to backorder. She said at this point they only had about 100 orders for the phone and they had way more than that coming in. I know this may conflict with what others have been told, but that was the story that I got.

I hope this is the case. Some of their reps seem really dodgy to me, like they really hate their jobs.
Even if LetsTalk takes an extra week to ship, I don't mind, as I only payed $80 for this superphone. Sure I'd be disappointed, but still an amazing deal.

So when we purchase the phone at Bestbuy they give us a $50 gift card on top of the phone freedom gift card? I can't find anything on Bestbuy's website that says that. Already signed up for the phone freedom promotion. Would love 50 more dollars.
Think I'm going to jump on this deal.
I was trying to hold out for a 32gb phone over the 16 but I just got a 64 gb SD card as well. Considering at this point it would cost another $100 to get the extra 16 gb, it just doesn't make much sense to wait, IMO.
Also, I can find nothing strange about the Wirefly agreement other than you have 14 days to return it to them if you don't like it as opposed to taking it back to a Sprint store.

I don't see it on the website either, but it is the same promotion they've been offering on the Evo LTE. This is what they offered me in-store. Not sure about online sales.
When ahead and got this deal. I should get $50 cash back from my bank as well.
That puts me at $100 for the device. It's a blue 16GB version. But for $150 less than a white 32GB version, I can live with it.
Even at $50 difference between the 16 and 32 it's just not worth it when you consider I just got a brand new SanDisk 64GB card for $50.
Their web site says they are shipping tomorrow, but I highly doubt that.

I think you are talking about the fact that the phone needs to be connected on the same line for at least 6 months:

yes you can...you use the$50 you used to reserve it for, and it will print out the freedom card for $50, so you'll play about $118 after tax

I remember at checkout there was a message to be sure the card had enough balance for the charge on the ship date, or the order would be canceled. That contradicts with the idea of them putting a hold.

Yes, when checking out, it said a hold would be placed for the amount of the purchase. The phones will ship out starting on Nov 6 and the charge will go through and show up on your statement..

It depends what kind of card - Usually debit cards get charged or a hold for full amount. Credit cards get a different deal, varies from bank to bank. If you don't have the funds. and its a check card or debit card, don't pre-order - it will not go through. Usually it drops back off in a 3-6 day period, then re-charged, over and over until it ships ( at least that's Best Buys MO. )

They gave me a $25 discount, but I don't know why. So the $297.xx was what was left after adding sales tax and subtracting $25.

They'll let you put in your order without issue; there's no wait list at this point other than first-come-first-serve order fulfillment. You may still want to order online to get free overnight shipping; if that's not available, call.

I would recommend placing your order online and just play the waiting game. One, when I ordered mine at 6am on April 29th, it gave me a message stating that my item was backordered and wasn't expected to ship until May 1st, when it actually ended up shipping that night and I got it the next day. And secondly, you want to place the order online to get the next day delivery, even if it is out of stock. But I can't say that you won't get the overnight shipping if you call, not sure how that would work since I ordered mine online.
Also, just as a side note for those who are iffy about T-mobile's service, I've had my wifi turned on ever since I got my phone and the service is top notch... wayyyyyyyy better than Sprint, speaking from experience. Cheers mates!

And secondly, you want to place the order online to get the next day delivery, even if it is out of stock. But I can't say that you won't get the overnight shipping if you call, not sure how that would work since I ordered mine online.
Also, just as a side note for those who are iffy about T-mobile's service, I've had my wifi turned on ever since I got my phone and the service is top notch... wayyyyyyyy better than Sprint, speaking from experience. Cheers mates!

same thing happened to me, i was told on MONDAY (29th) by a CS representative that they were back-ordered, however i took a leap of faith and order online on TUESDAY (30th) with next day shipping and it said it would be delivered on the May 8th, however they mailed it and i got it WEDNESDAY May 1st . i guess the trick is to order online with next day shipping, and as of right now they are offering free next day shipping. So the trick is ORDER ONLINE and then play the waiting game, if it doesn't ship by the 5th/6th just call back and cancel and get it in store on the 8th. U have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If they charge u for next day shipping when ordering online just call the TMO CS representative and mention to the the free next day shipping promotion and they will adjust the price. (call AFTER you make sure your UPS package has shipped using the tracking #, calling prior to shipping may lead to CS representative pushing back your order...you've been WARNED) From there GOOD LUCK and Enjoy your S4 whenever u get it.

I ordered over the phone during the day of April 29th that same day later on found out about the free overnight shipping called them up and got my credit.. And still received it the next day..

Do you have to pay tax on the $149 down AND taxed on the $20 a month? Or do you get taxed just on the $149?

You get taxed on the entire $630. You pay the whole amount of the tax with your downpayment (about $45 in my case). After that, it's only $20 a month (no additional tax).

i was/am and existing customer too. And the offer promotion didnt say existing customers excluded therefore it was valid for exisiting and non existing customers as long as u ordered on or before the 2nd of may they HAVE TO refund shipping, i would ask for corporate as it clearly stated on their website free next day overnight shipping if u order online valid until the 2nd of May. Anything less than a refund would be false advertising. Its really up to u how much effort u want to put into getting your money back and how well u explain it to them, but it really shouldn't be much explaining as the website clearly stated it was free next day shipping and its not your fault they didn't adjust their online ordering system to reflect the "promotion"

When they were out of stock yesterday I called them and got one ordered, said I was on a first come first serve list.
Called them at 10PM on the 2nd
2nd at 11PM said it was processed
10AM this morning the 3rd says shipped.
WOOOO
I ordered yesterday around noon and can't look up the order number... Called and they told me out of stock. But they have my money already

You should be able to. When you log-in to my.t-mobile.com, under Support on the top links, there is 'Order Status' on the very right. Put your order number and zip there. I have to do that since my new orders aren't showing up automatically on the Manage page.

Samsung's return policy?

Wondering what their return policy is? Also how long can I hold on to my trade in? If Samsung can't fix the supposedly sht camera during the return period, I will be doing a return.
15 days to ship the trade in.
30 days for returns of you bought with credit/debit card.
14 days for returns if you bought with Samsung credit/upgrade programs.
Either case 15% restock fee.

Exactly! If Samsung charges me a 15% restock fee, I will be contacting my credit card for a dispute. If the camera really does suck, they should refund me 100%.

Your fine man.. if the camera is having issues they can't charge you a restocking fee. Just stick to your guns! Then like you said, you have your CC company for backup. If Samsung gives you a hard time I'd even say your CC company will back you up. I'm hoping they fix the issues and we don't need to worry about returning.
I've returned phone to them before and was not charged a restocking fee. It usually applies to opened accessories.

Same, I returned two Note10 +'s about a month apart for the camera with no fees. As long as it's in like new condition with all the accessories it should be fine.
Not sure why people are claiming 15% restocking fees, I also returned my note 10 without any fees

That's good, I want trying to post inaccurate info, but instead what I found from Samsung's own sure.
Good to know they don't have a restocking fee though, since I have 2 Ultras on the way and only really want 1 lol.
