Hello dear readers and great XDA members,
Last summer I unlocked the bootloader of my Xperia Play R800i with the testpoint method. Everything worked fine: I installed CWM and loaded a FreeXperia version of CyanogenMod 9.1.
A couple of days ago, I wanted to finally update my ROM to a newer version since there had been so many releases since last summer. I loaded the new ROM and everything worked fine. However, some of the problems I hoped would've been solved by the update, weren't solved at all, especially the video capturing and panorama pictures. So I decided it maybe would be better to flash a new kernel.
I searched for a kernel, but couldn't find anything I liked. Then, I can't remember where, someone posted the "boot.img" files included in the FreeXperia CM9 ROM zip packages were kernel releases. So I decided to use flashtool and flash the boot.img as a new kernel.
This obviously didn't work and I tried some others. By the way: I couldn't boot into ClockWorkMod anymore since I tried to flash a new kernel. Only fastboot and flashmode would work.
I couldn't remember which kernel I used last summer, so I wandered the internet and eventually found that an X10 kernel was included in Flashtool. I though I remembered something about X10 from last summer, so I decided to stupidly flash that kernel to my Xperia Play.
After this flash completed, my phone doesn't respond to anything anymore. Following a list of things I tried (everytime after I tried something, I removed the USB cable and the battery to make sure the Xperia Play was turned off):
- When I press and hold the power button, nothing happens, not even the small vibrate always felt when the phone starts.
- Getting into fastboot mode doesn't work anymore (I tried with holding the search button and connecting USB, as well as some other buttons, nothing worked.)
- Getting into flashmode doesn't work either.
- No matter what I do, the phone won't give me a sign it's still alive. (no LED, no vibrate, no screen, nothing.)
- I tried the Sony Update Service, but that obviously doesn't recognize the phone
- Flashtool doesn't recognize the phone either.
- ADB doesn't recognize the phone of course.
- s1tool (the tool I used for the TestPoint bootloader unlock) recognizes I plug something in, but then gives an error it can't get access to it.
- I charged the battery overnight and tried all of the above again... still nothing works...
- When I plug in the phone to the PC, my PC recognizes something plugged in, but with the name QHSUSB_DLOAD in Device Manager.
(by the way: I am using Windows 8 Pro x64)
Is this phone completely dead or is there any way it can be saved? I was planning on keeping this phone at least until the end of 2013 or begin of 2014 before upgrading... An immediate upgrade is not in my budget and for now I have returned to my Nokia 5530 on Symbian, but that's nothing compared to Android :'(
Thank you very much in advance... I really hope someone can save my poor phone. I know I have been stupid, but I think I somehow panicked when I couldn't get the phone back into CWM and stupidly flashed the X10... Stupid stupid me.
Well I always update to the latest working kernel when I flash a new rom. The one working currently for me is fxp152 kernel.
Have you tried with battery, holding the search button, plug it in, then hold the Power button while still holding search.

Thank you for the response! Where do you find these kernels? Are those boot.img files included with fxp zip files the kernel images?
I hadn't tried to hold the power button after holding search button + plugging it in, but it doesn't work either
I will probably contact Alejandrissimo in a couple of days if I can't solve it myself or if nobody else can help me solve it...

Hi, i have the exact same problem. Is there anything that can be done ... phone is totally dead, and everything is the exact same as you mentioned..

Pull the battery out put it in close the cover plug usb then hold power button and flashtool from androxide should detect it.

Can anyone help. Basically my phone is hard bricked. No logo, no flashmode or fastboot recovery. Totally dead. When i connect to pc - I get QSHUSB DLOAD error, the pc wont recognise my phone. I have tried flashtools but, I cant enter into flashmode ( holding down back while connecting usb...I know how to fix it if i can get my phone back into a softbrick.( getting the sony logo - being able to enter flashmode )..anybody have any ideas please. I have searched online for days with no answer. Xperia play 1 week old running 2.3.4. - i tried to install ics 4.0.4 gamer rom but pressed the flash x10 rom in flashtools by mistake ...

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. i have read you say this over and over again and yet it doesn't work. you need to press back not power.

Hi Tommy,
I am very sorry for my late response. I haven't fixed my phone yet, but I fear only a hardware flash would work... I think I am going to try to get my phone back to the store where I bought it and I hope they'll fix it. If they don't, I will try to find someone who can hardware flash or ask Allejandrissimo (an Xperia bricked devices expert, it seems...)
I hope you will get your phone to work again! (And please let me know how you did it if you succeed). I will keep you updated if there is any progress. I am very busy at the moment though, so I don't know when I can get my phone back to the store. In the meantime, I have also bought a used Galaxy Nexus...

EDIT: I think I also accidentally flashed the X10 rom or kernel in the flashtool...
Could be easily fixed by flashtool, tried the same (flashing x10) and phone looked dead. The I toke the battery out and placed it back. Then I could enter flashmode and flash a stock ftf.

Well, the problem is we can't enter flashmode or fastboot... Really no life to it...

hi guys, ive rooted n unlock boot loader for my friend xperia PLAY with android 2.3.3 stok, after 2days he update his phone to 2.3.4..... now his phone did not reboot.. i can not set the phone to fastboot, only flashboot... then i try to falsh ftf.. when i try to reboot, only vibrate but no screen boot n green LED on the start button...can anybody help??.. sorry for my english..

Maybe you still have a chance! Bcoz I think you have completely damaged ta files+ semcboot which can only be repaired by se toolbox 3 which requires credits(money)( I m assuming it'll detect phone bcoz s1 tool recognized it with error ) if you have it than you can repair it or you can contact alejandressimo on gtalk.

When you phone was dead after you put the battery in did you hold the power button then it went in to fast boot instead of holding thback button CORRECT? ²

I am very sorry tot report that I wasn't able to fix my Xperia Play. I sent my phone back to the online store I bought it from and it arrived there 1 day before my guarantee expired. When I got my phone back, it was a brand new one with a different serial number, no screen protector, not a scratch. And it was for free thanks to my guarantee, even though I bricked it myself. (I just told them "it suddenly stopped working")
If you've got any guarantee left, you could try that, but if I understand correctly you already tried that... Then I think you should contact Allejandrissimo, I've heard many good things about him. I didn't contact him myself, though.

Hello all.
Yesterday i was using my XDA App on my XZL and somehow the xda app mislead me to some Samsung subforum instead of the ZL original Android Development Forum where i surely clicked on that. Then i thought there was a new rom... downloaded and flashed with no errors inside NUT's Recovery and then it turned into a brick. So no response from my ZL no charging LED, there is no way to go into Fastboot or Flashmode. It will be always recognized as QHSUSB_DLOAD in windows.
What i tried is a tool for linux from here http://unlimited.io/qhsusbdload.htm and at the end it says qdl reset but its still bricked. So i dont know what to do anymore. Oh and i never Unlocked my ZL i just had Exsistenz 5.0.0 Rom installed on it.
What happens when you connect it with your pc, does your computer still recognize it as a phone? Did you try to use pc companion repair function?
when i connect it will be seen as QHUSB_DLOAD, PC Companion and SEUS dont see the because of that.
have you tried the reset button? press it and hold it in and you should feel one vibration after a few seconds....keep holding it untill it vibrates 3 more times and it should turn it off/reset it.
then try using flashtool.
Yeah i tried the reset button but its not working anymore its not even vibrating. It seems its complete dead.
there is one thing i could do, to rewrite the phone through QPST from qualcomm but i dont have the files for my phone, so i would need a backup from an c6503 from QPST
just a thought...there was a time or two when just pressing the rest button did not work for me, what i had to do was hold in the power button at the same time as pressing the reset. hold them both till you feel one vibration, keep holding till you feel 3. sorry if thats no help.
i Tried that but dont works too. Now i startet again ubuntu and did try the QHSUSB fix, so the ZL will be recognized as qualcomm modem blabla QDL mode that means qualcomm download mode. So when i do the qhsusb fix it will exit the qdl mode and try to reboot, but there are no partitions anymore on the phone so the phone enters again in QDL mode. When it exits QDL mode it will be connected as Qualcomm inc. in Ubuntu. at this time the Red led flashes for a few seconds until it gets back to QDL mode.
When the phone is unplugged and i press Power button one single time then the Led flashes 3 times Red, when i plug it in at the charger it flashes 1 time for maybe 1 second in Red, but doesnt start to charge. Then it seems to hang up so i need to press the reset button and it goes to QDL mode again, thats all i found out now. And sorry for my bad english

Now i found and Linux app called emmc_recovery which i can flash some .sin files some succesfull with no errors and some files abort. so i need an bootloader for my zl c6503 doesnt matter what file type it is. So how can i find one ?
Sorry, I can't help you. But there is a threat called Disaster Recovery. It's created by NUT, the dev who created the dual recovery for our phone. Since that threat covers ZL, Z and other Xperia-phones, many more people will read it. Maybe you can get help there:

Sorry, but your phone is hard bricked. I experienced the exact same issue on my Xperia T. The only fix is through JTAG, or send it back to Sony and hope they replace it.

Where i ever blamed sony for my fault ?? And where i am ignorant ? You seem a typical troll.
If the XDA App would lead me to to right forum this would never ever happen. I flashed thousand times and never had a brick with my HTC One X. You can say what you want but the quality of Sony is far behind.
In my case, I flashed a custom Xperia T kernel from a dev who modified S1_BOOT and the bad flash put my phone in the QHSUSB_DLOAD mode. I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked, the phone was completely bricked. Now, if this can happen with a bad flash from Sony, imagine the havoc cross flashing device manufacturer's causes! Samsung software on a Sony platform? It's deader than dead.

This is my first thread here, so I hope that it is in right place.
Yesterday I received my elephone p8000 but I noticed a problem which I tried to resolved by myself. When I tried to switch on the phone, there was only a dark screen with booting sound. Recovery mode doesn't work so I thought that sp flash tool help when I use format and root phone and go in some way to recovery mode. I put on memory of phone a supersu, a then I format my phone by sp flash tool. I want to upgrade it by sp flash tool but I can't because I have got some problems with usb drivers, I see some errors during processing upgrade.
I have read the topic bbs.elephone hk viewthread&tid=6616&page=5&authorid=12774#.VfDLzZfLJ6I ( I can't post a full link here as a new guy ) and I had a hope that when I install these drivers it will help me, but it doesn't work.
Probably I made a mistake because I don't know too much about android enviroment, but I have the feeling that I'm close to repair my phone by myself, I would like to try some mtk 6753 usb drivers and MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM (Android) but I can't find any on windows 7. Is there anybody who could help me? I'm sorry for my english, I tried to explain everything as good as I can.

so you basically flashed your phone even though you knew that your USB driver is unstable? Don't do that!
Does your phone still boot (in any mode)?
Check if you can at least get into the bootloader. Hold volume up and power at the same time. If you can't, you probably screwed your device. Oh, and fix your Windows setup! The driver needs to be stable in order to flash the phone again!

you have to instal the package you have download with the tool.
i tried it on my laptop and i had all errors with the drivers. i tried my desktop (win 10 ) and it worked very wel.

use PDAnet driver!!! And use spflash-tool to reinstall the stock rom!

Dead P8000 on my hands here, botched recovery flash, not even sure what happened there.
MTK phones are famous for being unbrickable but this case is a bit beyond me...
1. Phone is still detectable over USB on Windows, which is nice.
2. After pressing Download on SP Flash Tool, I connect the phone to the cable, but nothing happens.
3. This machine was previously able to flash the same phone without problems.
I've used SP Flash Tool to revive many phones before so I'm not exactly a noob with it but there's probably some hidden combination somewhere which I don't already know.
Any ideas? Thanks!
The problem is in all likelyhood caused by your drivers. Try uninstalling the mediatek drivers with USBDeview, then reinstall them.

I have a htc desire 320 and I rooted it then flash a not compatible recovery moded and got in bootloop.
after this said the cellphone keeps restarting so I cant use the adb fastboot because its always disconnecting from computer.
I have no recovery to restore from my backup.
I have no OS to boot on.
I never had a bootloader locked or unlocked. none.
I have connecting problem to computer as adb should help.
my brain hurts and my phone is dead I think.
what should I do to just put on a recovery or unlock a bootloader I never had to bring everything back to normal ?

Hello!
I also flashed a recovery.img which put the phone into a boot loop. I am not able to flash my backup because in SP Flash Tool my HTC Desire 320 keeps disconnecting (error 2004).
How did you manage to flash your phone? Could you please help? Or is my phone dead?

I managed to flash it by doing checksum checked and usb high speed without battery inside press the volume down hold it and plug <-- important in the computer the usb cable...
you click download first then press button and plug the process will begin in SP flash tool my friend have a nice day....

I have Tried plugging mine in holding down the down button and still just kept disconnecting and reconnecting. Is there any other way you know of to flash back to stock? or installing cwm/twrp?
I have even tried on multiple computers...

Installed mediatek driver, uninstalled; you name it I tried it with the exception of opening it. Haven't got to that stage yet, I'm lazy.

if adb cant be able to be able to connect and stay connected ( bootloop or restarting problems )
then take SP Tool flasher to flash the Scatter MT6582 from stock KK by only remove battery first and let it out.
plug the universal usb port on cable but on the end of the cellphone dont plug it yet...
in SP Tool check the checkboxe in settings to checksum DL DA. and select usb high speed and W/O battery options.
then when the scatter is loaded then you ready to flash. the latest SF Tool is recommanded.
click on Download on SP tool when done the steps. it will hang on idle but at this moment press de volume down button first.
keeps holding that button until the end of flashing process and when hold it now plug the cable to your computer and bam you will be able to flash it to stock or custom your desire 320 without problems and its will not disconnect during process since you holding the volume down button.
that's how I did resolve my problem about months and find my own solution.

After searching and searching, seems someone actually had the same problem as I do. But for my part even when pressing the volume down before connecting to the computer doesn't keep the phone from connecting and disconnecting, even tried all the buttons combination you can imagine.
I'm wondering if it could be a driver issue, in your case was your device disconnecting every 5 seconds? And do you have any special driver that I should be aware of, personally I have Preloader USB VCOM port version 2.0.0.0...
I hope you got something in mind, I don't know where to look anymore haha.

even if you have mediatek usb vcom driver or adb drivers else original driver it works on all with the button press.
but set the setting like I said USB support normal without battery W/O and high speed.
don't set it to mediatek com ports on SP tool. but if you have mediatek com port change to port 20. that's what I did change the port com.

What version of SP Flashtool are you using?
Well I have tried everything everyone has said so far
No matter what I try I get
BROM ERROR: S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL (2004)
[H/W] Fail to download DA to baseband chip's internal SRAM!
Have tried using both
SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01
SP-Flash-Tool-v5.1532.00
Both do the exact same thing, tried checking the AD DL ALL with Checksum boxes, unchecked usb high speed and full speed. Pressing the down button before plugging it it, after. Nothing I do seems to work, in the device manager it just keeps appearing and disappearing over and over
I think a found the solution guys. After a sleepless night , I stumble into a russian forum who got the same problems as ours.
The correct version of the SP FlashTool we need for our device is the SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1348.01_SEC (http://mediafire.com/download/eaar07r2nm1v7t6/SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1348.01_SEC.rar). I read somewhere that it was because of the HTC Desire 320 has a security boot.
If you got a 4008 error, it's probably because you're using Win8-Win10. You need Win7. I'm installing Win7 on my PC right now, so I will tell you more about it later.

If you got a CID Error, it's probably because you have flash the wrong rom for your device. I didn't have to restore the NVRAM after this flash, but maybe you will have to.

Thanks for it, i've got that problem after trying to install custom recovery. I also got the error 2004 but i fixed myself by using DA_SWSEC.bin. Not sure if it work for ur guys or not.
I also learn that althrough HTC 320 is Mt6582 devices but we cant use the method they wrote in mtkrom site to install custom recovery. Now i can find the stock rom of my phone to check flashing custom rom via splashtool. I used telus rom above and i got problem wrong CID and the flash camera not work, if i have msg or phone call missing, it flashes like notice led! At least now my phone is working ok then. I'll try to contact HTC to get stock rom of my phone

Yeah I forgot to mention that, you need to use the DA_SWSEC on the SP Flashtool. What's your htc 320 model? Your probably have the wrong rom. The telus one is only for NA device.
