Turn off app drawer - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi, just bought the S3. I was using the S2. On that with Nougat update i had the option to turn off the app drawer in the settings menu. Im sad to see, that on S3 its not an option? Is there any way to do this?

I went on a hunting expedition of my own on my Tab S3 (I have the international model) and I couldn't find it either. It wasn't on my Note 7 either (when I had that... Sigh)
My suspicion is that Samsung was play testing this feature, and put it on a few of their devices; but for whatever reason, decided it wasn't worth keeping.

I just picked up the Tab S3 and have been lokking for the same option, I know It's still an option on the S8+. Not sure why it's not on the Tab S3

First, long press the home screen then select home screen settings at the bottom right of screen. Next, select 'Apps Button' then select hide apps and hit apply.

Now the system will have auto brightness, but it will always go to high/bright when you are in the browser! -Zoidpilot

42.I have only tested this with Windows Media Player, but I assume any DLNA equipped TV/media device would work. This is great if you want to quickly show a slideshow of photos or play some media file on your tv/computer.1) Go Settings/More Settings/Nearby Devices 2) Turn on file sharing and change any options you'd like. Since I'm on my own my Wifi network, I just disabled access control, otherwise you have to approve every device.3) Start Windows Media Player. Make sure under Stream "Allow Remote Control" is checked. You should see your phone show up under "Other Libraries" in WMP. Mine shows up as [Mobile]SCH-135.4) Go into Gallery and select a picture. If connected properly, in the upper right hand corner there will be a new little icon with a monitor and some arrows. Touch this and it will allow you to select a playback device. 5) Now the picture should show up in a maximized screen in WMP. Sometimes it takes a good 10-20 seconds. Videos take much longer, but they work and what I got was the first frame, followed by a good 20 seconds of a "Processing" notification on the Galaxy S3. When I browsed from WMP to my phone videos, it buffered for a very long time, so this "processing" notification is the buffering taking place. I don't know why DLNA needs such a long time to buffer over a home Wifi network.6) Whenever you change folders you have to click the DLNA icon again and re-select your playback device. Not sure why this is, seems like a bug...Unfortunately I did a little research and there is no way to physically copy files to your computer through DLNA, you'll have to use other methods.Make sure you turn this stuff off when you connect to public Wifi .-sluzbenik
44.When viewing videos using the stock video player, you can lock the touchscreen by pressing the power button so that the video does not get interrupted by inadvertent touches. This is especially useful if you are using your phone to entertain your baby or toddler. Also works with mx player though haven't tried it with other players -limeaid
45.Do not know if it has been mentioned already, but you can also bring the phone up to your ear and it will call that contact.-ricky babalu
46. if you are in the apps drawer, and you pinch the screen, you will see all pages of your apps and can quickly choose the one you want.-moonfire711
47.Haven't noticed this being addressed but regarding S-Beam it appears that both phones are required to utilize the same app that is involved with the file being transferred. For example, I use "quickpic" as the default image viewer and when I used s-beam to test a pic transfer, the phones connected however my buddy's phone went to the play store and more specifically went to the "quickpic" downlad page. Obviously my buddy's phone required him to dl the app in order to finish the transfer. I then opened the same file via "gallery" and reinitiated the transfer. This time the phones connected and transferred the file without a hitch. -augustorm
48. lock screen shortcuts can be edited on the swipe lock screen go to settings/security/lock screen options/shortcuts click the word shortcuts and not the toggle it will bring up the 4 shortcuts and your allowed to change which app is accessed or what order there displayed in -ironlood

I heard that the GSII has a swipe status bar to turn up brightness? Does this follow over to the GSIII? Could anyone confirm or deny?

Nope. It's not on the GSIII. This is something I miss from the GSII.
Lock screen app settings are listed under security in settings (took me a while to find this)
you can swipe the screen with the side of your hand to take a screenshot, or hold home and power

Even on the GS2, it was only present in GB
Once the ICS update rolled out, it was gone. It's not a GS2 vs GS3 issue. It's an ICS issue.

Agreed. This is the feature I miss most about my S2. You'd think they'd have SOMETHING with all the random gesture/bump/close on eye stick out tongue gesture combinations they have on this device to control the brightness.
Guys, let's please get back on topic. This isn't the annoyances thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727052

You can also swipe away individual apps after holding down the home button. An HTC rep at an AT&T store told me that one today. She was trying to show off the One X. Everything that phone could do, my Galaxy could do. It was great. She even told me how the One X was made of polycarbonate and that the Galaxy was made of plastic. She learned a lot today...

You need to have a good portion of the screen covered with your hand (instructions say use your palm) and just swipe it across in an even motion.
Also make sure the function is turned on in the motion settings!
Same thing here with the screenshot, I feel dumb as hell as I still can't get it to work.
Also , is anyone using the stock ICS keyboard? I hate the Samsung keyboard.

App dock on the side of the screen

Im nit rooted, yet. Just got the phone last night and love it. Somehow I got a dock on the side of the screen. Its a little blue tab and if I pull it out it shows recient apps. And it shows up over the top of everything. Games, apps, videos, everything. It wasnt there at first, but I dont know what I did to start it and now cant make it go away. Anyone know how to turn the damn thing off?

It's the multi-view window. It lets you open multiple apps at the same time. Try dragging a couple of those apps into an open app. To make it go away all you have to do is long hold the back button or de-select the multi-view option in the quick toggles in the notification bar.
This community is the best. Long hold on the back button did it. I just upgraded from an Evo. Hopefully this community gets as strong as that one was.

Multi-view is a really cool feature. Play with it and you'll soon wonder how you lived without it.
Texting and Web View are great and the third window as a PopUp - EVEN BETTER ! lol

[Q] Hiding the multi-window tab on the OTA update

So I noticed that in our OTA update, the tab for multiwindow apps is always present on the screen. This is pretty annoying - I believe that on the stock Samsung version, the multi-window tab only pops up when you hold down the back button. Does anybody know how to make the OTA hide it by default?
1. Press and hold back button again
Or
2. Drop down notification and unhighlight multi Window
I would also like to know if there is a way to hide the tab but to still have it enabled. In the mean time, I just disable the toggle switch when I don't use multi-view. That way the tab is not present. And then just enable it again to use it.

The multi-window is triggered by long-pressing the back button.

baronsamedi was correct, you can hide the tab while multiwindow is enabled by long-pressing the back button. For some reason I thought that the long press was to get it to appear, but that it disappeared on its own. Turns out you also need to long-press to make it disappear, and you can do it while you're still using multiwindow.

How to disable single app from updating with no menu button?

Hi -
I have the need to disable just a single app from updating from Google Playstore. On my Galaxy S4 I pull up my apps in Google Playstore, select an app, then hit the lower left button (menu button) and an option comes up to select/unselect auto-update. But on my Galaxy Tab S 8.4, that button doesn't work the same way, and nothing comes up. I also tried using Xposed Additions to program that button to a single press button that triggers menu, but that doesn't seem to trigger it either (even though it does trigger menu for some apps like Chrome).
Is there another trick to unselect auto-update?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
Go to the play store, swipe right from the left side of your screen, hit settings and theres an option for auto update for all apps.
For a single app, just search the app and go to the app and hit the 3 dots on the top right.

Hit the 3 dots on the right top and uncheck auto update. It will disable auto update for that app only

Multi window is broken on my tablet. Please help me fix it.

So basically what is happening is that multi window no longer works on my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 SM-T320, with Android 4.4.2 KitKat and no root. When I press and hold the back button on my tablet, the multi window tray doesn't show up. It also doesn't show up when I swipe from the right of the screen. However, if I make another user account on the tablet, multi window works perfect with no errors. Keep in mind I do have multi window turned on in the settings. Also, if I go to multi window in the settings, and then enable "Open in Multi Window view", and then, for example, I go into the My Files app and open up an image, i can then use the Gallery and My Files app side by side. Another thing that happened is that when I press the button to expand the quick toggles in the notification panel, nothing happens. I have to swipe down with 2 fingers to make it work. I can also expand the quick toggles menu on another user account. But this didn't justs start happening for no reason. I know what I did to cause it. I am just looking for a way to reverse the effects of what I did.
So what I did was I got the app called QuickShortcutMaker. For whatever reason, I went to the app titled "Setup Wizard", and its icon was an Android guy with a cube shape in the middle. Then I launched the activity "com.google.android.setupwizard.SetupWizardTestActivity". That was a mistake. It opened up a setup screen that asked me to choose a language. Then I closed out of it, and some things started happening. Not only did the button to expand the quick toggles stop working, but so did the shortcut to the settings app in the notification panel. When I pressed and held the power button, it opened up the menu to restart the tablet, shut it down, toggle airplane mode, and mute the audio. This time, though, there was no option to toggle airplane mode. I restarted my tablet, and it led to my current situation.
I want to know if there is any way to make this go back to normal. I have tried a bunch of things. I have noticed that the Setup Wizard app now uses 20 KB of storage as oppose to 16 KB of storage, so I tried clearing its data in the Settings app, but that didn't work. I also tried turning off the Setup Wizard app in the Settings, but that didn't help either. I even tried clearing the data for the app titled com.sec.android.app.FlashBarService, which I found out is actually the service for multi window, but that did nothing. I hope I don't need to reset my tablet to fix this, because then I will lose all my data. Multi window is a really good feature Samsung has included, which I used to use a lot, and sometimes i really need to use it.
Sorry if this is hard to understand because of my bad grammar or because I went into too much detail. I was typing this on my tablet, which is the same one that I can't use multi window on anymore, so I was typing on sort of a small surface.
