Cannot enable tethering through quick access - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody.
I have a strange problem regarding the Nexus 5x with wifi tethering/access point mode.
I can turn on wifi hotspot by:
settings --> more --> Tethering & portable hotspot --> Portable wifi hotspot enable the slider.
After that I can disable it with the quick access panel.
However I cannot enable it by the quick access panel. This also prevents apps like tasker to automate this setting.
I would like to have hotspot turned on when I enter my car (bluetooth connected)
I live in the netherlands and have a Vodafone account.
Many thanks for your input.

How do you enable auto wifi on startup or auto-connect at hotspots?

How do you enable auto wifi on startup or auto search for hotspots?
Like to have the phone connect automatically ecah time its within network range.
What's needed to allow "auto" hotspot connections so the phone connects automatically when in hotspot range?
Thanks

think you would just have to add that hotspot...then leave your wifi on which will kill your battery...when it detects that hotspot it should auto connect

if you want to constantly search for hotspots with a wifi finder, you're going to eat thru battery like crazy. The constant searching and findin no signal will suck your juice.
Starting on startup is a matter of placing a link to start it in windows\startup . Depending on how the app starts, it may need a script to assist with the startup.

Wildfire S and Ipad 1

ok so today I bought an HTC wildfire S with an internet dataplan.
Presently have an IPAD 1 without the 3G option so needed to find a mobile phone that can tether with it. They recommended me this mobile as they said it needs to have the wifi hotspot option.
Can someone link me to some info on what is needed to be installed and setup to make it work with my IPAD.
Thanks to all.
Hi,
Your phone already have all it needs for tethering. Just go to setings>Wireless&networks > portable wi-fi hotspot setings and set all parameters you like (SSID name, security type -wep, wap, wap2 ans set a password). After go back to wireless & networks and activate portable wi-fi hotspot (before that you have to activate Mobile network, otherwise will be a wi-fi network without internet connexion) and voila... you should see the new created wi-fi netword with the SSID you chose on your Ipad wi-fi manager.
Good luck
Thanks....
felt stupid after I switched on for the first time my mobile and found the Wifi hotspot in the menu thought it was an app I had to download....

Wifi automatically connects to open AT&T hotspots... how do I stop this?

I frequently work at a location with an AT&T hotspot. The problem is that when you connect to it, this particular location directs you to a terms of service accept page before it will give access.
Problem is that my S3 connects to the hotspot automatically, and since I don't accept the terms of service, my email will not sync.
Is there a way to keep the phone from connecting automatically to an AT&T hotspot? I try to long click the wifi settings for AT&T, but I don't have the option to delete it. (I am fine with it never connecting automatically to this particular hotspot)
Better yet, is there a way to allow automatic connections to certain hotspots/wifi networks and not others? For instance I want to automatically connect to work and home networks, but not automatically connect to others (clinets and AT&T)
Thanks!

xperia connectivity settings

I have a question for everyone,
I just found out our xperia has a wifi transfer option and it works great.
it's under xperia connectivity, then usb connectivity. leave the usb connected and set up wifi settings.
here's my question, is there a way to add this to a shortcut or widget so we dont have to go through the menu to connect to other computers?
Thanks

A50 Hotspot Broadcast channel

Hello,
My device is A505F/DS
Mobile hotspot is generally weak in range.
To get less interference from other 2.4ghz signals, would be better if i had the ability to change the Broadcast channel.
Is it possible??
You probably figured this out already, but if you go to Mobile Hotspot under settings, you need to disable Wi-Fi sharing option. Then go to Configure Mobile Hotspot (from 3 dot menu) and click Show advanced options. You can set channel from tehre now.
You can set channel only if Wi-Fi sharing is DISABLED!!! If it's enabled, the option to change channel will not appear.
nb! Wi-Fi sharing has nothing to do with sharing internet over hotspot, so it doesn't need to be on.
