Shield controller and android games - Shield Android TV Accessories

Searched and couldn't find anything specific to my question. Anyone having issues with the Shield TV Pro 2017 controller version with android games that have controller support? In particular Samurai Vengeance II. I have even seen video of the game being played on the shield but the shield controller won't control anything other than movement.
thanks

Same thing on my 2017 nonpro shield. Downloaded like 7 of the free games and only twd1 pacman and asphalt 8 worked.

Bluetooth Gamepad

Hey guys,
I'm searching for a bluetooth or wireless gamepad for my future nexus.
Do you have any ideeas? I was almost into buying Wii Wireless Retro Controller but I can't find it anywhere so I'm looking for something else. Ohhh, this was my first option because is so COOL!
Another option could be Phonejoy's Gamepad, wich is OUT OF STOCK too. I could go for a PS3 SIXAXIS Gamepad, but I dont know if I can use it for other games like Shadowgun, Backstab, Dungeon Defenders (mostly RPG and FPS), not only with PSX Emulator.
Anyone who used a PS3 controller played games like the one above with it?
Thanks!
Just a word of warning you need to make sure your device is compatible. Even if it is, it might work with some app and not another.
There are some bluetooth controller to consider though like: Zeemote, MSI Gamepad, Wii controller (which seems to be the safe bet.)
Sometime you need to run a background 'keyboard' app to make some of these controller work, such as Bluez IME.
I have the iControlPad, but it only work with apps that support keyboard input, through the use of Bluez IME. The most fullproof way for me is still wired controller.
I'm dealing with the issue right now.
I use sixaxis for my PS3 controller but it seems there is lack of supported games.
I think trying FPse for it.
I've also Logitech gamepad (F710) and like you I'd love to see supported games beside FPse.

Give me a few days and this should become a reality with the Sixaxis controller
Honeycomb and ICS have native support for gamepads so they should work throughout the OS and games.
I have a PS3 controller on my Transformer and I also have the Wii Retro controller. The Retro controller sucks horribly compared to the PS3 controller. Plus they all connect via Bluetooth so any controller will act the same unless it comes with a specific binding app.
I don't have a Nexus but I think the PS3 controller is the way to go. I picked up a new white one at Gamestop for $29.
Datel makes the Retro wireless controller.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
I've done it.
Sixaxis with PS3 controller plus MHL to see it on my LCD TV.
Works great! But only in emulators like FPse (the emulator I've test).
I'll wait to the OTG cable and see if I can play with the gamepad on any game (which is not related to FPse).
do i need ROOT for all of this that you guys are talking about? i want to use the original ps3 controller to play games in my galaxy nexus but i totally don't want to root, please help, i don't care if i have to use cable or Bluetooth.
Not sure if this would work on phones, http://steelseries.com/us/products/other/steelseries-ion-wireless-controller
it does mentions tablets. it's coming soon.

Want to root my AFTV. List of controller compatible games?

I may wanna root my AFTV, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a list of Android games know to work on an AFTV that have controller support? I use a Moga Pro controller.

You want to root so you can use your controller? My Fire Stick is not rooted, and I use a iPega controller. Just sideload a settings.apk and try to connect it from the BT settings.
Games with controller support i like: BombSquad, PAC-MAN 256, Reaper, Table Top Racing Free and Zen Pinball.
No, I wanna root it so I can use a different launcher (like Kodi), but wanted to know what Android games (ones not officially supported by an AFTV) work on am AFTV with controller.

Ah. I see. Unfortunately, I don't have a list for that. But I would also be interested in this.
I'm glad I am not the only one. With AFTV now supporting USB sticks for storage, and rooting, it has the potential to being a great game console (I have a Moga Pro, and it works great).
I downloaded an Android app called Gamepad Games, that lists gamepad compatible games, and while that is very helpful, I would also like a compatibility list of Android specific games that have been tested on an AFTV.
This is the closest thing i can think of. Its not specific to games but im not sure anyone has maintained a working games list fot aftv.

Moga Pro and touch emulation?

I have a Moga Pro, and Shield TV. I see in the Google Play store that there is an app called Moga Universal Driver, for mapping touch screen buttons to physical buttons on a Moga controller.
If I sideloaded this app to my Shield TV, could I use this with a Moga Pro with games that have touch only controls? Also, can I sideloaded and use games on my Shield TV that have Moga support?
I'd like to know this as well. Disabling the touchpad on the shield controller was a terrible idea. But apparently it's a Google TV thing, not Nvidia. Or so I've read over at the geforce forums.
Yea it's a Google thing, and they want you to buy Android TV compatible games. I started sideloading games that have controller support, but not all of them work.
I really want to play Hill Climb Racing and it's not Android TV compatible. I can sideload it and was wondering if the Moga controller would work for the on-screen gas and brake buttons.

Modern Combat 4 - Android TV natively.

So i play mc5 with a guy whos from canada who has mc4 available in his playstore, it has native controller support aswel for nvidia shield tv. I have already bought mc4 but its apparently not available on the uk servers for some unknown reason. Does anyone have the apk to this version at all? Im dying to try it out
MC4 don't work on the STV, it has graphic glitches that makes the game unplayable.
Oh really, what was the point of releasing it on atv then? Typical gameloft

Has anyone played the Nintendo Wii games on Nvidia Shield TV (Not Dolphin emulator)

I'd like to know what options are there for someone with a US version of the Nvidia Shield TV to play these games. I am interested in specifically playing the games that were emulated for the Tegra X1, not a standalone emulator like Dolphin. I have a PC for that if I want to use it.
Here are the games that were ported for the Nvidia Shield TV
Super Mario Galaxy
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Punch-Out!!
(Did I miss any other games?)
Anyways what are my options to make this possible? I watched an episode of Digital Foundry and they said they tried installing a Chinese rom of the Nvidia Shield TV firmware and using a VPN to connect to China and that didnt work out well. If the hardware is completely the same then what about installing an APK of those games to a US Nvidia Shield TV, has this been attempted?
Any information you guys have to share is appreciated.
Flash a china version ROM on your shield tv, but im afraid this is only applicable on shield tv 2017. And you will need additional account and VPN to access china version localized app store.

Why would you want to play Wii games on a Shield TV?

I can't believe no one has done this and extracted the APK for everyone else.
Odd no?

That's because they won't work. The Shield In China runs a different version of Android with different dependencies (a different App Store too I believe with its own backend), and there's no multi language support on them so there's not a whole lot of point.
