Oppo Find 7a lineage OS Android 7.1.2 unified storage - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Hi all!
Some one know if Lineage OS Android 7.1.2 for Find 7a support LVM or unified storage? If not, how can get it?
Many thanks!

From what i know lvm us not supported. It may support chinese unified partition. But i never tried. If u r looking for stable daily driver with unified, use omni. It is awesome.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

Omni support Android 7.1.2? Do you have the link?
Thanks

Look in xda itself. Thread is under find7. But rom supports both find7 and fnd7a.
Yes latest android version of rom is 7.1.2. I have installed it on my find7a. Running great since quite some time now.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

If I install omnirom 7.2.1,do I Need to install lvm patch? Can you tell me the exact procedure?

Use the unify storage option in coloros. Then install omni. This way lvm patch is not needed. To unify use coloros 2.1.x preferably.
What rom do u have now?
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

I have lineage. Could you tell me the procedure step by step?

1. Copy coloros rom to ur internal stirage or sd card.
2. Get into fastboot mode
3. Flash coloros kitkat recovery. You should find the link in oppo forums under download section for find7.
4. Reboot into recovery and Flash coloros
5. Boot into coloros and unify storage. Hope u can find ur way around coloros to do this.
6. Then flash latest twrp recovery
7. Finally flash omni.
I am assuming ur device is not modified to use chinese storage format or any other format. If yes, then additional steps or different procedure may be needed.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

Thanks! The most difficult point is no. 5..how to install unified storage? That's not so clear for me..
And then, after flash omnirom, unified storage will keep the same?

Once you boot into coloros you have the option. You gave to under settings and further down. Play with coloros settings and you will find it. It will show what ur current storage format is and what can be done.
There is no install needed once u r in coloros. If u choose to unify it will ask u to confirm, then it will boot into recovery an run the necessary scripts to unify and reboot back.

Are u on omni now? Or still in coloros? Coloros may not support mp3 ringtones.
Add a ogg file and see if is recognized. Mp3 on Omni definitely works.

LVM is not supported. I tried the latest nightly with chinese unified partition layout. It will install and boot up, but many apps (e.g. gallery, file manager, camera etc.) have problems because there is no "internal SD card" any more.
Not sure if the coldbird unified layout works though, anybody tried?

I'm using the LineageOS with Chinese unification and no issues at all. Just after each LineageOS update you need to apply patch. There was a guide on OPPO forums, which are unfortunately down, but I hope it can be found somewhere else. For start use the thread with LineageOS here on XDA.

Got it working. :good:
Official LineageOS 14.1 with unified partition layout, running smooth and without problems so far after 3 days of usage. Now this finally is the device Oppo should have shipped right from the beginning.
In case anybody is struggeling to collect the information how to do it (like me): The guide in this post is still valid and contains everything you need. In a nutshell, you have to perform the following steps:
- Download and run the tool linked in the post above. This will wipe your phone completely and install a beta of ColorOS with unified partition layout.
- Put your phone into fastboot mode and install the modded TWRP recovery with unified storage support.
- Boot into TWRP recovery, wipe data, system and cache and install LineageOS 14.1. Add OpenGapps and root addon if you like.
- Install "CM13.0 Unified parttion Patch". It still works with LineageOS. After every update of LineageOS, you will have to install this patch again.
- Boot LineageOS and check if you can access your internal storage mounted on /storage/emulated/0. If not, wipe useradata in TWRP (worked for me).
Thanks to everyone who made this possible. :highfive:

I can't unified storage, my oppo model is x9076, ant doesn't work with the tutorial

By the way i think the difference between X9076 and X9077 is only about software, the internal hardware is identical. But, i agree with you better be safe not to install X9077 ROM on X9076.

is you must first installed ColorOS with Unified Storage support. And it is also possible for X9076.
My friend's X9076 already manually update to latest ColorOS and enable it's built-in unified storage feature. I don't remember what ColorOS version he has, but if i look in the following thread, it is ColorOS 2.1.5i. Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-7/general/oppo-7-x9006-x9007-x9076-x9077-stock-t3671678
So, try to update to latest ColorOS manually. Better update it through Oppo stock recovery and wipe everything beforehand to be clean.
The remaining problem for me is do the X9076 need to be converted to Unified Storage before flashing LOS or no? Based on a post by DemonDroid_97 the answer is yes. Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71752026&postcount=2. and then simply do:
(Have a Unified Storage through ColorOS 2.1.5.i)
Flash latest TWRP (no need TWRPmod?)
nandroid backup (optional)
Wipe everything
Flash the LOS ROM. done!
I think it is safe to try it. If it failed, then do:
Flash TWRPmod by Wuxianlin https://cloud.mail.ru/public/LJQE/VaPJxmPt8
Wipe everything
Flash LOS
Flash the "CM13.0 Unified parttion Patch"
The last step is as written by

TWRP 3.3.1 for the Redmi Pro

Today I want to share with you the device tree I have made to compile TWRP for our Redmi Pro as well as the images of TWRP to install directly to the device.
What are the advantages of having the recovery compiled from source?
The main advantage of having the recovery compiled from source is the ease to get the recovery updated. Whenever TWRP updates their recovery we will have that version in our phones because we will only need to compile the recovery with the device tree that is already done and that should work perfectly and shouldn't take more than half an hour if everything goes well.
Then I will be updating the recovery when a new version is released

What I would recommend you is to format data from the recovery so that you will get a compatible data with the rest of recoveries. However you will lose everything you had in the phone
Did that, data was gone but still no partitions recognized...

Did you really choose format data? (Not wipe data or factory reset) if so try to do it with another recovery, for example with one of the incompatible ones

Repairing Partitions And Flashing Omni Rom

Hello guys, this will be my first post on XDA.
Over the past days I have been trying to flash Omni Rom (omni-7.1.2-2017xxxx-find7-WEEKLY.zip) on my Oppo Find 7a. I read that it only supports lvm-storage. Since I was coming from LineageOS, this was not the case for my device. I tried various recoveries and installing ColorOS first, but everything did not work out the way I had planned. In the process of setting up unified storage I somehow corrupted a part of my internal storage - at least that is what I think it is (I am left with about 95mb worth of Internal Storage when I connect my device to the computer).
What I am at right now is a non-bootable version of ColorOS 1.2.5 and also TWRP_2.7.1.0 recovery that I apparently can't enter. In that sense it is only soft bricked. I can still and without a problem enter fastboot. I am kind of fed up with not making any progress. Whenever I find a working recovery/os-version I can't seem to go further.
I am looking for a step-by-step-guide/tool to reset my device to a bare minimum. From there on it is about re-partitioning I guess.
Looking forward to any kind of help from you, many thanks in advance.
Hope you have a microsd card. If not put one.
1. Download and install the latest coloros recovery. This needs to be the kitkat version of the recovery. Only this allows you to select rom to install from microsd.
2. Once coloros recovery is installed install coloros 2.1.4 or 2.1.5.
3. If all goes well you can boot into coloros and unify storage.
If this does not work, try the unify option in the coloros recovery. I have not had much success with this.
I did these steps on my find7a when i migrated from mokee rom to omni nougat.
I have also done this partition change multiple times without issues. But i have never installed chinese partition on my phone. Always used coloros for changing partition.

Thank you for your willingness to help.
First of all yes, I do have a SD Card and I will be able to use it.
I found three options of ColorOS Recovery: First Try, Second Try was the latest published recovery afaik, Third Try was the stock recovery for Find7/7a. None of these seem to work. Whenever I try to boot into recovery mode, the OS Logo shortly appears and my screen stays slightly lighted from that point, but nothing else happens. Could you provide me with a link of the recovery image you refer to?

Thank you for your help. I am having the general problem, that I can't flash any other recovery than the one that I got from this repartition-tool [no links allowed; google: find 7 partition tool]. I think this might be a problem with the Internal Storage.
This is what it says when I look up storage on COS 1.2.5:
Total Storage: 16 GB
Available: 0 B
3,63 GB of the system is taken
Storage for App-Installation 12,27 GB (1,42 GB used)
Storage used 98,38 MB
Besides that I also have a 32 GB SD card inside. So when I plug the phone into my computer the sd card and approximately 98 MB of internal storage is shown. Can you interpret something from this? Sorry for the amateur listing. I can also enter TWRP 2.7 right now.
When i google for find7 partition tool i from hit this thread on oppo forums ...
https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&s...ggcMAA&usg=AFQjCNGjCAn7GfNrbKHx1b5HzWP29cyV7A
Maybe you should post ur query there. I have no ideas man.

It should, try it. Don't have this device on hands so can't test.
I have a question is that can I delete these files on the fox folder (it's 3GB) . Also I don't want the orange fox to install my miui updates, I just want my system updater to do it even if it means removing the orange fox, it's still ok.. can I do this?
The beta version of this recovery shows SD card and USB storage 0 mb and thus we can't access them from recovery nor we can mount them (this problem is in beta version only)
I flashed stable version of this recovery but touch was not responding, not even a bit..... then i installed beta version and touch worked, but whenever i tried to install lineage os 16.0 , it shows error 255 ..... i also tried twrp 3.2.1.0 earlier but touch was not responding there as well....nor was otg mouse.... i flashed twrp 3.3.1.0 as well and there otg was working fine but even after installing the rom amd booting up, touch was irresponsive help!!

For me it's working fine
i already mentioned , i had tried 3.3.1.0 ..... by the way my issue was resolved by the service centre and for free (under warranty ) i just cleared everything , installed original rom locked the bootloader and went straight in stating that touch became irresponsive after update .... also i would like to update that , i tried pitch black , orange fox stable plus beta , twrp 3.3.1.0,3.2.1.0 and at last flashed stock fastboot rom using mi flash tool as well but failed to solve the problem then ..... I'd 2 phones that made it easy for me
This is really nice, Thanks devs

Thanks for the answer, my friend. I really appreciate it. I've already solved this problem.
The thing was that after I format data and rebooted to system it kept encrypting it again. For some people rebooting to recovery again and flashing magisk from an SD card worked. For me it didn't. So I tried again but wiping data, cache, and system and flashing another ROM.
Hi,
I'm actually considering buying the Xiaomi Redmi S2 and I have some questions regarding the device and this recovery.
1. Would you recommend the S2 in 2019/2020
2. Is Treble TWRP required to use treble ROMs or can I install this directly and also use treble ROMs.
3. Any recommended tweaks for this device.
4. What configuration of RAM and Storage would you recommend? (I only found 3GB RAM and 32GB Storage versions)
5. Expandable Storage? (microSD)
6. Any bugs with treble in general or specific treble ROMs?
7. Anything to look for when buying this device used?
Kind Regards

https://drive.google.com/file/d/12ZY3y9pNaRJxqWHuCJSEmyl5Xmn3CtXq/view?usp=sharing
Now I am confused on what to do. I don't want to lose my old 4.4.2 build since this upgrade didn't work.
I could really use some serious help on what steps I should take. My preference would be to upgrade this tablet, but if I have to revert back then so be it (but don't even know how to do that). Wondering if I did something wrong or this .zip file is just outdated, not sure what else 'Error 7' refers to, other than Error installing .zip file.
Any help would be appreciated!

Most likely that is the case, rom file is two years older than the recovery. You can either:
1. Install newer version of Lineage with that recovery: https://www.los-legacy.de/v500
2. Flash older version of TWRP first and then install that older Lineage, or some other rom (for example I have TWRP version 3.3.1-0 and Resurrection Remix N 5.8.5 FINAL which works flawlessly https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/testing-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-3-oms-t3601456)
Thx Indie Zex for the options.
My dilemma now is, how would I install this new Lineage with the recovery file, since I am still in TWRP?
Need help on what steps I need to follow to either exit out of TWRP to get the newer Lineage file.
I assume you can't load anything from the link you provided while I'm in TWRP....am I correct?
If I exit out of TWRP now, will I completely lose my original 4.4.2 (KitKat) build?

If I understand correctly, you are still in TWRP on your tablet right? If you performed full wipe of Dalvik Cache/Cache/System/Data (like you always should do before installing a new rom) then you can kiss your KitKat goodbye forever! If for some reason you didn't wipe anything, then in the main menu of TWRP you can select Reboot, then System and your tablet should (luckily) boot into KitKat. But lets say your tablet is wiped and you now have to install new rom:
1. On your computer download https://www.los-legacy.de/v500 and open gapps https://opengapps.org/ (ARM, 7.1, pico)
2. Connect your tablet with computer via usb cable and copy both rom and gapps to internal storage (Windows should see your tablet as a mass storage device no problem even if you're in TWRP and you have proper LG drivers installed)
3. Now on your tablet: from main menu go into Wipe, then Advanced Wipe, then on Select Partitions to Wipe page tick Dalvik Cache/Cache/System/Data and Swipe to Wipe
4. Back to main menu and select Install, then find rom from the internal storage, then Add more zips and find gapps and finally Swipe to confirm Flash
5. Once that's finished press Wipe Dalvik Cache/Cache and then Reboot
That should hopefully be it.
TY Indie Zex,
You understood correctly, and I did a full wipe of Dalvik Cache/Cache/System/Data. I was afraid you would say I lost my old 4.4.2., but I really just wanted some insurance to go back if things got messed up, which they did!
For the legacy OS, I assume I should be going with the very latest lineage file (2020-09-05 date)?
Question about Nougat vs Q or Pie - If I pick Nougat, is there a compatibility upgrade/update path via Nougat OS to get to Pie or Q, easily within the software just by selecting 'Update' option in the 'Settings'?
or if I ever want to add the latest Android OS like Pie or Q, I would have to again go thru the full swipe and re-load another ROM and the specific gapps for either Pie or Q.
I assume Q is still quite new and maybe buggy, but is Pie now very stable or still some unresolved issues? I know it might be difficult to answer, as there are always bugs in firmware version. Just trying to get a gauge for which would be safer to go with if I need to upgrade.
TY you again for being patient with a newbie

You always flash custom roms the same way in TWRP, you can not just update unfortunately. The next thing to pay attention to is to download correct version of gapps for Oreo or Pie roms (there are no Q roms for our tablet). You have probably seen this tutorial here for Pie https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/guide-tutorial-howto-lg-gpad-8-3-v500-t3967069. I have tried it as well as https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/rom-crdroid-android-t3772076 but they both have broken camera unfortunately. Everything else is basically fine, with Oreo having better performance.

Rhetorical questions.
What's wrong with pressing the THANKS icon under Indie Zex's answers instead of writing "TY"?
.
Besides, if you were advised to install a very stable Nougat, why don't you try it first, before thinking about P and Q?

Yes, I did see the Pie tutorial and did read through it, the non-working camera was certainly something I did not want. Good to know you have Oreo running on yours, and better performance.
So do you suggest I load Oreo vs Nougat?
For Oreo would I select v8 or v8.1? and what variant?
I found this info...I was thinking of Micro or Mini, thoughts? Can the V500 handle the memory requirements for these?
Variant:
Aroma: Graphical installer of the super package while in recovery menu, it allows user to select which applications to install.
Super: Includes all Google Apps that were ever shipped on a Google device.
Stock: Recommended package that contains all Google Apps that come standard on latest Nexus/Pixel phone.
Full : Very similar to Stock version.
Mini : Smaller set of popular Google Apps with extra functionality.
Micro: Limited set of Google Apps with Gmail, Calendar Google Now with extra functionality.
Nano : Minimal installation with extra functionality.
Pico : Minimum with Google Play functionality. (Each package varies with file sizes and included Google Apps)
TY again, much appreciated!

There is only one version of Oreo for our tablet: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/rom-crdroid-android-t3772076. I have tried it, it runs nicely but camera DOES NOT work just like in Pie version (which is a little bit choppy for my taste).

I wouldn't go above micro, 2GB of ram is a little bit tight. But hey, if you like Google so much try and see how it runs.

Since you already have latest TWRP version installed, I suggest you go with latest lineage rom (2020-09-05) with gapps of your choice. For Oreo and other older roms you need to flash older TWRP version, such as above mentioned 3.3.1-0 (and please do not ask how ).
And finally I wanna say this: don't worry if you mess something up, you already have and you certainly will again . There is a wonderful world of flashing roms (and wasting your precious time ) ahead of you, so go boldly into the unknown! :fingers-crossed:

I guess I misunderstood you earlier on which rom you where using, thought it was Oreo. Does the camera function with this Resurrection Remix N 5.8.5 FINAL? Based on the Variant list I posted, how would you categorize this rom?
I am intrigued, I thank you for the words of encouragement, just a bit intimidating this world, but I am willing to try!

Camera (and everything else) works on all Nougat (and earlier) roms. Differences between them come down to customization: for example Resurrection Remix N 5.8.5 FINAL and crDroid Android 4.7 offer more customization options compared to LineageOs, but are two years old. Latest Lineage, on the other hand, has literally last month security patches. And I suggest you install them all, one at a time

I went with the GAPPS file (ARM, 7.1, micro)
Does this mean I cannot use the micro variant?

Hm, the error suggests that you have 6.0.1 rom which you tried to flash with 7.1 gapps. Just in case, download older version twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img and flash it in TWRP:
1. Copy twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img from computer to internal storage of a tablet
2. In main menu of TWRP select Install, then Install Image
3. Choose twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img and flash it (IMPORTANT: do not reboot right away!)
4. Go back to main menu then press Reboot and select Recovery
5. You will boot to recovery again, now the older version
6. Now flash rom ONLY (whichever Nougat variant you want) with standard described procedure (with wipe and everything) and reboot
7. Once you are in system, check it out and come back later into TWRP to install correct gapps (yes, you can use micro)

Hi Indie Zex,
I read your above instructions, but somewhat confused.
I looked for twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img but can't seem to find it, has the file name changed?
I went to the link page you provided (below) for your Resurrection Remix build, and the Rom available there was RR-N-v5.8.5-20171001-v500-Final.zip

If you don't need it anymore, you can delete it via computer. It doesn't really matter when you install .img file. When you select install image in main menu of TWRP you won't see any other files except for .img ones. Just make sure to reboot to recovery instead of reboot to system to continue with installing rom.

Great TY.
So from yesterday when my install failed, I just need some direction on what do I do to get out of this screen, please.
I have the option button to Wipe Cache/Dalvik or Reboot System.
Do I need to hit the Wipe button to remove the lineage-14.1-20200905-UNOFFICIAL-v500.zip? Or Wipe anything else?
Or do I just go back to the main menu for TWRP and install the twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img and follow the rest of your instructions?
TY again.

i found this recovery in msm extended telegram chat.
the installation did not format my data since i have all my apps working and i can see the entire internal storage when i connect the phone to pc.
I have this recovery on my device for a later time in case I decide to move away from OOS so I can't speak to experience...BUT:
My understanding is due to decryption/recovery on this device the chinese recovery will work BUT the limitations are that if you are on OOS currently you cannot decrypt storage, HENCE you will not see anything in TWRP (again that is my understanding). After backing up the device and wiping the data partition at minimum (most custom roms seem to require us to fastboot wipe our partitions from instructions ive read)... then we can use this version of recovery for custom roms.
I think the major difference between this one and the official version here is of course the unofficial nature of this twrp but also the chinese twrp will let you flash (not boot) the recovery image without issue so we can still USE OOS OR flash custom roms without things going...wrong?...I plan to wait until the A11 OOS upgrade before I make a decision. After learning about how 1P botched the recovery keys + partition issues with the A10 launch I think its just better to see how development goes AFTER the new year maybe
Hmm l was of the understanding that if you format using the chinese recovery all will work on oos will see what's what and report back as soon as l find it and flash it
So flashed Chinese twrp couldn't mount data until l formatted data using it then l could see everything in storage but it reverted after a reboot and would need formatting again to see storage also it seems much more functional that the mauronofrio twrp but the decryption issue is still an issue for me at least. It's ashame nobody is working on this to give us a better twrp.

What's "this"? And what do you mean nobody?
Check twrp gerrit and github and you'll see lots of progress. Fastbootd has been implemented, and dynamic partitions are pretty much handled now. Only significant thing would be decryption, but let's hope Android 11 fixes this as Google once again has changed things regarding to keystore.

Ok l stand corrected just wondering why mauronofrio hasn't released an update or updated his thread. So OnePlus have to implement changes to keystore with Android 11 so they might fix it ?
