4 to 5 hours at best with auto brightness during day with 4G turned on. Not too bad for a budget phone but no where what I'd accept from a flagship phone that cost this much.

Almost 4 hours of screen time only using Chrome, Messenger, YT and Video Player. 50%-75% Brightness most of the time and Always Wifi On
Haven't tried a lot of mobile data so ill try later this month

I'm using OmniROM btw, for those who are curious

[Q] Optimus G Pro Screen Brightness vs. Battery Life

I've owned an iPhone 3GS for almost four years now, and it's time to upgrade to something new. I've decided upon the OGP as my new device, but I have some questions about battery life. I've read a few reviews that said although not as good as that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the battery life is still great. Then again, I've also read a few reviews that have said that the battery life is horrid and that LG phones in general seem to use more battery than most while just sitting idle in standby mode. So, it seems to go both ways, depending on which review one reads.
My typical usage is about 90% browsing and reading webpages, and about 10% watching YouTube video, with a bit of music listening thrown in. With the iPhone I had to keep the screen set at about 50% to get me through a day of the above usage. Sometimes, an hour long recharge during lunch would give me battery life until the early evening. I hated having to keep the screen dimmed to 50%, but that's the way it is with that particular phone's power-hungry LCD. For video watching, I max the brightness so as to get as crisp of a picture as the phone is capable of.
I had looked at getting the Note 2, but I didn't care for the AMOLED's lack of whites and lack of brightness (and low resolution) in comparison to my dinosaur iPhone. If I did get that particular phone, I'd have to leave the brightness at max 24/7 although I don't know how that would affect batt life. Either way, the Note 2 screen did not appeal to my eyes, and the one on the OGP along with that of the HTC One were the best I've found in the larger phones.
So, my questions are, what do most people keep their brightness set to on their Optimus G Pro for most of the time, and how much screen time do you really get at that particular brightness level? And, does it seem that a few people have possibly gotten defective batteries? I realize that the G Pro's screen is an LCD with a white backlight on all the time the screen is lit, and probably won't be as efficient as an AMOLED, but with my type of usage (with the screen set to max) what kind of daily battery life can I expect from the OGP?
Well, I don't know if I can give you an estimate based on your exact usage, but let me share with you mine. I have my brightness set to 65% with auto brightness turned on. For me, that is a nice, comfortable viewing level that is easy on the eyes. I love the colors at 100% brightness, but it's almost too bright for me to look at for long times. Anyway, I only use my phone to send text messages and check web sites during the day, but then I play games in the evening (like super stickman golf). I can get through the day easily with 25% remaining when I plug in at bed time. I get about 4 -5 hours of screen on time out of that, so in total I could get about 5-6 hours if I were to drain the battery all the way.
So that doesn't exactly answer your question, but each person's usage is going to be slightly different. It also heavily depends on what you have for apps that are running in the background.
hmm
I'll say this much, screen is responsible for about 50% of your phones battery drain across the board so if 100% brightness is more important than another hour or two of usage time then go for it. This thing should get you a full day even at 100% charge and relatively heavy usage but get comfy with seeing 20 or 30% by early evening. The hardest thing to get used to is remembering that 20% can still mean 2-3 hours of usage and is not an emergency. Another plus of this phone is you can charge about 50% with one hour of charging (or 25% on 15 mins) so as long as you are using a good charger you can juice up in a hurry.

Impressed with battery life

I have been impressed with the battery on this phone the last few days. Now that Im up and running with all my apps I gave it some good tests the other day.
On my note 3, while driving with nav and music streaming from google, I would lose about 8-10% an hour.
This weekend I did about 5 hours of total driving, with nav and music on the whole time. With a few phone calls, by the end the of the day, I was still at 46%.
Last night I tested just music. I had a 2 hour round trip. (Hour there, hour back, all highway and the same route, so cell signal would be the same)
Driving down, I started at 80℅ and arrived with 76℅. No music was playing. Phone was ideling.
On my drive back, I started at 75% and ended with 71℅. Music streaming from google the whole time.
I will be testing more, but that is pretty damn impressive in my book.
I will post my settings and turned off apps list later.
Attached is a screen shot of battery use from this weekends driving.
I agree completely. I didn't have the note 3 but I did have the note 2 and this battery dominated it. And the Fast Charge is amazing 50%in 30 mins. WOW

Extremely satisfied as well. Even with such a powerful display and CPU/GPU this phone still manages to maintain some of the best battery life I've seen in years. Samsung really poured there hearts into this device.

As am I
I am VERY impressed and HAPPY. Coming from an S3 that would be at 50% by the time I got to my office at 9:30am. Granted I am up early and our work starts the same. I am handling everything first thing before my trek in. Anyway, yesterday I awoke to a full battery and decided to try it out. GPS, calls, email, normal business day type stuff. I had 12% left by the time I fell asleep. NIIIICE
Its 2:20pm here and I'm at 62%. My Note 3 would be about 30-40% at this point.

It seems the more I use the phone, the better battery life gets... The only time I have seen a considerable drain is when the screen is above 40-50%.

I'm not that impressed. Don't get me wrong, it's way better than the 4 hours I got on my S4, but I am a seriously heavy user, and I only get about 9 hours before I need to charge. It's largely because my brightness is at 100% but I expected a full day of usage between charges lol
I agree. The more I use the Note 4 the better the battery life "seems" to get. I don't know if it's just settling down or what but it does seem to have improved over the last couple of days.

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy Note 7's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

Had a 22 hours usage with phone calls, WhatsApp, wechat, sms, games, audio streaming and uber orders. whole day the gps was turn on. SM-N930FD
Not sure why anyone would rate this poorly. The endurance of heavy use on this phone is phenomenal. With WiFi, Always On Display, High Accuracy GPS, 85-100% brightness, and constant heavy use, you could use this phone for easily 8-9 hours.
Not a fan of how fast this thing dies under use. Just using for maps, emails,, texts and surfing the web with low brightness, it died 20 percent in an hour.
6-7hours on Pokemon Go with brightness 70+ most of the time is good enough for me.
I m getting impressive battery timing with heavy usage, such as synching emails, facebook, whatsapp, messenger, wechat and about 40mins of fifa15 games. Listening music and watch videos with mx player also. But i turned off the always on display. And i only select cpu power saving mode in bettery setting. I m using N930FD
how did you get this good SOT on 4G
Endurance test from my side is continuous use with Gear VR. Battery delivers but the heat is too much. I used to watch videos over VR for that cinema and 360 degrees experience.

6-7 hours is impressive.

There are apps in the play store to hide root which have worked for me in the past so I am not too worried about it.

I was able to watch 1pm, 4pm and evening NFL games where i am live tweeting and checking my Fantasy Football team.
Also I am a political junkie so on 9/11 Granny Cankles got loaded in a van like a sack of potatoes. So I was Checking news reports.
I by the time my phone hit 50%, I dropped the resolution to the mid point, dropped the screen brightness to 80%.
By 10:30pm when I was at hone in bed and put it on my wireless dock it was down to 18%
So I was impressed.

Yesterday I was able to get 9 hours 15 minutes, over 3 hours of YouTube watching, some gaming and using it to take notes for class. I keep going back and forth between keeping this tablet and getting the iPad 10.5. I'm just not a fan of having to charge the pen, and paying over $250 more for it. I'm happy with my Tab S3.

9-12 hours depending on the workload and brightness. I easily get a day of use out of the device despite SOT. On top of that, %90 of the time I get 2 days without any issues.

Are you all sure that SOT isn't calculated also while displaying fingerprint area? I didn't test it yet, but it probably also counts sot, so the displayed parameter may show bs.
hmm I don't know, could be.
I used chrome a lot but not sure if it adds up to 7h. I mainly used the phone in bed with lights turned off so the brightness was at lowest setting the most of the time...
I might disable the fingerprint display if thats possible an post another screenshot.
I disabled some sensors with an xposed module and have the feeling that the battery lasts a bit longer since that.
Can give u a list of disabled sensors if you are interested.
