Any chance of a marshmallow ROM for E980? - LG Optimus G Pro

The lollipop roms are great but it'll be fantastic if there is a marshmallow ROM for the E980.
Anybody knows if there's any?

Well, if you make it, there will be. There is a long discussion about marshmallow on this device, and all ended with "it needs too much work".

Lolol well said. My device is just sitting in a box now and I occasionally use it as a universal remote as it is running the stock OS. I now have a nexus 6 and an Amazon Fire 7 (5th gen) that I use as my daily devices. I honestly haven't touched my G Pro in months now.

I got mine back today after family member brought it to repair center to get damn USB fixed... and guess what? repair center just made it worse They replaced only USB connector and messed up flat cables connecting that board to mainboard... So it's sitting on my desk now, charging slowly, waiting for me to order parts to finally repair it. It still looks great and feels great, but I miss fingerprint scanner now, lol.

Lol that sucks. Hopefully you fix it. I tried to get my e980 unlocked by AT&T, but they led me on a wild goose chase and I never ended up getting it to happen.

That's kind of ass-holish from them, TBH... our providers give you code after your contract for that device is over (usually after 2 years) after you request it. But still, had similar thing happening with work phone (provider didn't want to unlock it after contract, and later required 80€ fee) but just brought it to your neighbourhood mobile shop(tm) and guy cracked that lock with a box in like 5 minutes, for 1/10th of price provider requested.
I'm repairing this one, that board is 4$, and need to find a good battery and voila, great secondary phone, not some crappy Lenovo.

Good to see you again haha. In regards to fixing your device, last year I unbricked my Asus TF300T by swapping in a new motherboard, and it had been bricked for 2-3 years by then. Luckily the almighty @timduru is still developing a 7.x ROM for it (and doing a great job at it too) so that device works great despite Nvidia ceasing development of GPU blobs for it ?.

Eh, when I remember how much I've managed to do on marshmallow before device decided to stop collaborating with me... Gah. Had a quick fix few weeks after I bought new phone, but same problem occured few weeks ago and I decided to take it back and fix it. Part is ordered, probably will come in next 10-15 days. No plans for development, to be honest, I'm puting my prepaid SIM in that device and planning to use it as dash cam/navigation after I fix port, just to be able to charge it while in car... kiwi is there for messing around

Root it (jellybean or kikat root), use Freegee to flash original twrp, then use Flashify to flash updated one. That was my procedure last time I flashed, somewhere ~ august 2015

Synced Lineage 14.1 to build for my kiwi while I was at work this morning, and took a look at my e988 just sitting there... ugh, tempting. Got it a new LG certified battery yesterday, waiting for port to arrive... there will be some fun, lol.

Mine is still on stock. Did some investigating this morning, and got an idea to build a complete new tree based on kitkat (instead of jellybean) but I'm too lazy to experiment... it's much easier when you have unlocked bootloader.

I like Cantana tbh, it is actually stable and fast, like really fast.

A little squirrel I know has been working on digging up some Marshmallows for us. Hopefully he didn't misplace them ?

Lineage 13 - boots. Now to see will AOSP RIL work and fix some mess with LMK

No chance for a jump to Lineage 14.1 instead of 13 ? Don't get me wrong we all appreciate your work I'm just curious would it be the same amount of work to go on newest version of linage?

[Q] Tablet is getting extremely slow

I've had my Nexus 7 2013 for a year and a half, and two months ago I sarted noticing it sometimes gets really slow, and just today it couldn't even open some apps like Clean Master. I let some time pass and it's working more or less quickly right now, but it happens every day. Any idea what could be causing this?
I got a little bit scared it's a hardware problem ever since I saw this article: http://tinyurl.com/k2835rd

I'm using CleanROM 6.0 (Android 5.1.1) and stock kernel. I was previously using a kernel and the same still happened.
Anyways, if you didn't see it was on "My Devices" part in my signature
I'm also using TWRP if that's of any use.

Try using elementalX for Aosp and see if that helps.
If it doesnot, i suggest to try CM based rom.
Do report back if nothing helps and ill see into it in more details.

P8000 unusual problem.

Hello.
11.11.2015 i recived a notification on phone that Elephone had released a new update to improve system functioning ect.
Keep in mind this is a stock p8000. nothing done with it.
I downloaded update, installed and it said phone will reboot.
After that phone is stuck in bootloader and simply wont boot.
Ive tried wiping cache and factory reset but PHONE WONT turn on.
So question is. What the hell do i do now?
There's like five threads about the same problem, so nothing really unusual about this excerpt for the lack of quality control from Elephone which apparently releases broken OTA:s and phones with old or modified base roms. ?
This thread should be merged with other ones.
Have anyone found a solution?

manually flash the stock rom .. i faced the same ****.. i followed the below steps and my elephone working fine
http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-9229-1-1.html
hope this will work...
Fixed
As it turns out i managed to fix the problem.
Manually flashed a new rom and now the phone works fine. Tho im not installing the new update again.
Have to be said that the people behind the update and responsible for keeping the phone updated and fresh should have been fired.
People without the necessary skills on this subject would have to return or get the money refunded because THE only way to fix this is flashing a new rom..
Thanks for the help people!!

LOL, fired for what? it worked on most devices.
you get what you pay for! how are elephone selling a phone with decent specification for that price? they cut corners everywhere.
quality being 1 and skilled staff is the other.
with the given resources, their staff did they best they could with the test hardware they had.

Also, most China phones don't even get updates, or even more exclusive, source code releases like this one. My guess is that there's likely only a one man show in charge of software development for this model, so give them some slack will you. [emoji1]
mine went off to after the OTA so i had to flash manually and like my friend said there trying, unlike most china phone company's so even though mine failed my father's and my friend's p8000 got there OTA np
It seems like the first 5000 batch delivered had no notification led, they seem to put in different hardware thats available. So end up with a hotch podge of slightly different devices.
So fingers crossed that a update works.Thankfully Elephone allows ,enables development.
It also looks like OTA update fails on rooted phones, which is not so different than what happens to most Android phones. When I used a Samsung phone long ago, OTA update notifications wouldn't even show up if you had rooted your phone, and on other phones I remember having a similar issue after I applied an OTA update with the phone rooted

Upgrading from rooted/rommed G3 to G4, but don't want to activate G4. Possible?

Advice Please:
I have a G3 with PacMan ROM and it's freaking sweet. However, my infrared/camera (which I use hundreds of times/day for work) is not working when I shoot certain types of materials (works on leather, blurs on cloth now). I was planning on just waiting to get the G4 when more ROMs were out. However, now I'm rushed to pull the trigger. So here's my question:
I want to not activate my new G4, but use it for work over wi-fi and continue to use my G3 for everything else (calls/texts). Since I had to order my G4 to get more GB, the Verizon rep is telling me that I can have the G4 and keep my service on the G3. However, they will need to 1) Activate the G4/Deactivate G3, 2) Deactivate G4/Reactivate G3. Will I have any problems reactivating my G3 since it's rooted and ROMmed? Will this cause any problems with Verizon? Will they even notice?
Also, If I'm able to do this... Can I go ahead and root/Rom the inactivated G4 and activate it once a satisfactory ROM is out (and installed on it)?
I know this is complex and doesn't do many people much good, so MANY THANKS to whoever lends a hand!!!!!
I hate being in this predicament... If only we lived in a world where all the ROMs were available to all carriers within the first month of release... if only... LOL

Yes, you can activate the G4 and go back to the G3, even with root. When you activate the G4 make sure you go through the setup process before you pull the Sim and install the Sim back into the g3. Wifi will work on the G4 without the Sim at that point. Done it many times.

I juump from ZTE Moto E prepaid G3 and the G4. works fine with a good standing sim.
Thanks so much for the help!
To push it a step further... Could I Root/Rom the new G4, and then return it back to Verizon in my 2 week trial period without any alarms going off? Would I just need to un-root and flash stock Rom before returning?
The guys at the Verizon store are so oblivious to android development that I wouldn't be surprised if they took a rommed and rooted G4 back without realizing it!
Unfortunately I don't think we have any roms for our verizon g4 and most likely will never have more than stock based unless someone unlocks the boot loader or comes up with another bump and I think they've about given up trying which really sucks cuz I have 2 of then lol

Well I put it like this, I have 2 g4's and 2 days ago traded one for a g3 vs985 and I'm still in utter shock at how much this g3 blows those g4 outta the water in every single aspect and I've tested this thing balls out non stop and I hated lollipop and marshmallow until now that I'm running resurrection remix 6.0.1..rooting and custom recovery were a single click each and all I had to do was flash a 35b bootstack and modem to get mm running. I can't stress highly enough how much you'll regret getting rid of the g3 cuz there isn't very much to advance to with Verizon for a modder like us. The way they lock down their phones is just evil and the g3 is a rare miracle for a Verizon device. Have you done a lot of flashing yet on your g3?

That's what I was afraid of, thanks for confirming my suspicions! I have been using the PACMAN ROM for over a year now! Which ROMS do you recommend? Also note: I'm just good enough to root and flash. I've never messed with kernels or anything else.
I've run into a few quirks with my PACMAN ROM, nothing serious though (except for my camera not focusing as well anymore). Maybe a new ROM is just the change I need!
THANKS

Man on the g3 there's more Roms than I can begin to find a good start, hell I just started going down the list on Android File Host just search vs985 and there's over 400 files to start with. A good tip is to get a copy of each Android version's bootstack, modem, and kernal zips on XDA or you'll get updater script errors from the base band being off. Most likely you'll only have to stick with the latest version cuz most people go up in Android versions, not me I'm all over the place and still consider JB and kk the best and my personal favorite. But the Dirty Unicorns mm rom has really stepped up and cool as hell , especially the unique nav bar. If you run into problems finding the right bootstacks PM me and I'll hook you up

Zenfone 3 deluxe Custom rom + Encryption?

Are there/Will there be soon, any Custom rom + working encryption?
If not I think I will go with oneplus 3T, thanks.

Bootloader unlock only just came out less than a week ago. Root has been available for a few days. There should eventually be ROMs but there is basically nothing for the time being. If you are willing to wait a month or two or three for a good ROM, consider this phone.
I'd honestly recommend the 1+3T though. The dev community is much more existent.

This was a colossal failure on Asus' end, in my opinion. I'm glad those who have the ZF3 5.7" finally got their unlocker. I really had high hopes for this phone. After holding onto it as long as I could (in the box it shipped in) with Amazon's extended holiday return period & crossing my fingers for unlocking...I had to go with the 3T. I really wanted to go with the Zenfone 3 but Asus didn't even suggest an unlocked bootloader was coming, as far as I am aware, until very recently. That was after missing out on 2 rounds of in-stock 3T's due to overly sensitive fraud detection on both OnePlus and my bank's end. Finally ended up getting a 3T 128GB model, even though I bought a 128GB microSD card and nice USB-C cable for the Zenfone 3.
Asus really said something about their support/concern in regards to their mobile phone product line(s) with this - OnePlus Support has already given me trouble, no less. I kinda like Asus, too.
I finally have a phone after nearly 6 months of borrowing -- hijacking my mom's OP 2.

LG G7 thinq no operating system

Newbie here, I've got the G7 thinq that was rooted with majisk and had evolution X ROM. I'm not sure what edition or whst android version was on it but my girlfriends son got ahold of it and not sure what he did but it has no operating system on it now. IT cycles from the LG start up screen to the bootloader is unlocked screen constantly. I can not even turn it off. I have to push power and down then release power and push again to get into the factory reset screen. From there it goes into TWRP and when I try to restore and then reboot it says NO OS INSTALLED. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO REBOOT. What do I need to do to get the phone back up and going. I've had several rooted phones but I bought them that way and this is the first one I've had to dive into and before. From my understanding I can download a custom ROM from another phone into a SD card and then install it in the LG phone. Another problem I have is that my laptop is out of commission due to a fire ( long story) so I'm don't have thst option to use. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I loved thst phone and I absolutely hate this Moto G power I'm using now. Thanks
