Did the Z5 Premium get a HDR firmware update? - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Watch this vĂdeo on your laptop (for example) and your Z5 Premium at the same time:

I'm sorry, but if that isn't HDR on the Z5 Premium I don't know what is. Either way, it looks amazing.

I don't think so, but maybe could be ported from XZ Premium

The video you linked isnt 4K HDR. Videos that appear 4K HDR have HDR written next to the quality and that video didnt. Theres a chance Sony couldve just increased the quality of the screen in an update. As you can see in my images you will notice HDR written next to all the qualities on my XZ Premium. Unfortunately for us any videos ran above 720 60 HDR stutter really bad and 30 fps videos only just about work at a high of 1080p. Amzon Prime HDR 30 fps videos at 4k run fine though.
The images below show 4k HDR on YouTube and the other image shows the difference between HDR from YouTube and non-HDR in the Album app. I downloaded Horizon Zero Dawn at 4k non-HDR and compared both side by side with the one in the YouTube app. The image on the left is HDR and the image on the right is SDR.
This is the link to the video also most of the videos on this channel are 4K HDR: https://youtu.be/pZvphjRu8bE
My Sony bravia X80c is capable of HDR but only over USB almost like its accidental as the picture mode goes to nothing. Sony arent issuing an HDR update for HDMI so I doubt they will for the Z5 Premium which also again annoys me because I would imagine both would be capable just like how the Z4 and Z5 series should get Oreo but they arent.

Photo Thread - Post your best shots here

I'll be receding my Asus Zenfone Zoom really really soon, so will be doing my usual camera comparison tests but will use this post to upload some photos from this little gem.
Okay first shot using super resolution mode, handheld -

Got a number of other photos here

It's snowing at the moment so that doesn't help in terms of taking lots of photos. More soon though.

Thanks for these shots. Unfortunately it has bad post processing in low light, possibly even day light shots. My G4 has much better quality. I was hoping for this to have a superb camera but to be honest, it doesn't beat the S4 Zoom that I once had (which took superb shots).

Front Camera resolution is 5MP?

I would like to know if all apps like AIDA64 report Nokia 8.1 has 5MP resolution? If yes then it means Nokia maybe fooling the user's.

Yes....even i checked in AIDA64 as well as another similar app and the front camera shows 5MP........however i read somewhere those details are basically read from specific properties file and probably Nokia didnt put the right information there
Same is with nokia 7 plus, it has a 16mp ffc as per nokia, but all benchmark score app or camera app shows only 4mp as ffc, don't know its properties file fault or nokia is actually fooling us by just upscaling the photos from 4mp/5mp ffc

Its using pixel binning technology afaik. So actual sensor is 20 mpx but output will be 5 mpx.

Don't know how they do this pixel binning, but I can see the Open Camera gives sharper selfie than the Nokia Camera App.
The photos of Open Camera front camera have more noise though.
Photos in good light are 20mp, in poor light pixel binning combines 4 pixels into 1 to give better results but outputs at 5mp.

LG video camera is overprocessed! Comparison with RAW video VS stock video

(BECAUSE IAM NEW I CANT POST LINKS YET, its my first post unless some admin will edit this and make links "clickable")
Here i found quite a nice video app that let you rec video without post-processing effects like color fix/denoiser/resizing (yeah, those 4K videos are cropped and resized from bigger picture)
the app called 4K cinema
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frozenvolcano.android.cinema4k
The "4k" in LG g6 is cropped from the bigger picture 3264x2448 (but you can't allow to rec in that resolution or rather save it)
4k cinema app let you rec in this resolution but as you can see its not 16:9 like 4k is but more like 4:3
heres comparison how videos looks
stock video (weather was very windy today)

Aspect Ratio Gone

I guess it is this update where they moved the aspect ratio
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...al-sharing-and-astrophotography-apk-download/
where it is
I still have 16:9 on version 7.2.016.279154257.

Pics I took yesterday are 4:3 ratio! Hate that sheit!
They removed the ability to change aspect ratio on both cameras. Now you get 2 choices: Medium Resolution, and Full Res. in 4:3 aspect ratio. STUPID FUX!!!
I guess it is this update:

Anyone know what the previous version was for Pixel 3a's XL. Going to grab from APK mirror or somewhere.

First off, the option to select 16:9 images is still available. However it is in the pull down menu and not in "settings" where the "Medium/Full Resolution" option is located.

Second off, 16:9 images is actually a crop of the 4:3 image and is not full resolution. This is not new to this version of the Pixel camera. It has always been like that on this phone. A image taken in 4:3 mode is actually 4032x3024 (12.2mp) while an image taken in the 16:9 mode is only 3840x2160 (8.3mp). So you really want to be taking images in the 4:3 mode to get the highest quality. You can always crop them to 16:9 if needed and not loose any pixels, but you can't add back the lost pixels if you take your shots in 16:9 mode and want 4:3.
Thanks @sic0048! I will have to check it again.
Yes I know that 16/9 is a cropped 4/3. I have a 65 inch 4K monitor and I just want them to fit. I take too many pics to crop manually.
O I C IT NOW. Going blind from all these lasers and fog machine

I wonder if there is a version to take pictures in fullscreen 18:9.
Samsung has that option to make full avantage of the screen.

Shaky 24fps stabilized VIDEO PRO mode bug

I have just bumped on a nasty bug on Galaxy S20 FE 5G.
I can reproduce it on two devices with January 2021 firmware.
When record video in PRO VIDEO mode in 24fps and video stabilization is turned on I got shaky useless video.
When video stabilization is turned off recorded video looks good.
I would be very thankful if anyone can try to reproduce the bug and report it here. Two conditions should be met: 24fps and video stabilization: ON
Thanks in advance for help

Thanks for your reply. This may give us a clue that it's a regression bug introduced with latest (January) update.
BTW did you turned on Video stabilization (EIS)? Jittering occurs only when it's being turned on.

Must be. Any idea why I can't get Android 11 yet? Unlocked on the Telstra network, Australia. I got the previous updates pretty fast, but the last update I received December 11.
What is your Fw version you have? UA4?
UA5
