Jio sim not working with uk Honor 8 Pro - Honor 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi, I have a 64 GB Platinum Gold model Honor 8 Pro (from UK) which I am trying to get it to work in India now. It works fine on GSM networks but I cannot make calls from the Reliance JIO network. I understand that a update has been pushed out to fix the issue, but the problem I have is that the Honor customer support (and the local service center) have told me that the update is only for the Indian models and the international models will not be getting it. And they do not have a way of installing the update on my phone.
While I can live with a GSM connection, I feel that this is a bit of a let down. VoLTE networks are increasing globally and to restrict a phone to a specific 'region/country' is not good in my view, especially since a lot many people are travelling/ working across countries. I do believe Huawei should think on these lines and provide cross border updates for networks.
There may be technical issues regarding it but I also know that my 2+ years old iPhone 6 (again an international model) worked with the JIO sim right out of the box, without me having to change any setting. So I do feel that Honor 8 Pro which such high end specs should be able to do the same.
If anyone from the community knows how I can get it to work, then do let me know.
Thanks!

You need to rebrand your phone to Indian model, (flashing Indian firmware on your phone)
Go visit the guides section, there's a guide on how to do that

Thanks!
Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have found the guide on the forum. It is quite complicated and seems like it requires a lot of time and patience especially for someone new to doing such things. I will try to give it a shot in the near future. Lots to learn there!
Thanks again!

Thanks for the heads-up! I do realize it is a complicated process and a lot can go wrong. Don't worry, I am not going to jump into it immediately without understanding it completely. But thanks for the concern and the warning!

Dear Jun-Ho Cho,
We've started a petition yesterday on Change.org in an attempt to gain the attention of your company. We have gained over 250 signatures in less than 24 hours. There are many of us who feel it would be very beneficial to have the option to unlock the bootloaders on our G4 mobile devices. I understand you offer the option on one European model. We would like to respectfully request the option to unlock the bootloader on all models. This would benefit the development of your phone fiercely!
I am aware the results of your sales for the G4 are far below the projected sales volume. I can guarantee, the unlocking of the bootloaders would boost your sales significantly.
Please Mr. Cho, consider our request.
Respectfully Yours,

Rightfull efforts should not be taken as spams, no matter how much we have faith in the future of it..
The companies build their plans about what (not) to give their customers, not only over the demanding people but also the un-demanding people.
So, do demand. That won't kill your cat.
Just a suggestion, I would rename this topic to "Please sign the petition to LG, to unlock the bootloader for all G4 variants"
....and unlock bootloader for all but WITHOUT loose warranty !!! it's really possible ???!!!
And they can make this effort because it's daylight robbery ,scandalous, to buy a phone with a very big problem of hardware ("bootloop&dead" illness)
mine is still work but i sympathize with persons who have had this serious problem...

But good look and hello spam topic....(sorry)
I do know we are a minority here on XDA, compared to the whole mobile phone market. However I also know that many of us are asked when a friend or a relative tries to decide to a new device. So we actually have the power to influence enough amount of customers and shape the market. I, for one, have been doing this for many years. Now, there is no single person in my life with a Samsung device. I have talked them into other devices.
I know that this is a technical forum and needs to be well-organized. But in this case, just to show the power of us, customers, a few extra topic wouldn't hurt anyone.
I remember the times when companies backing off to "ok, we will honor the warranty because it is a manufacturing fault, so it has nothing to do with your device being rooted" and giving new phones to the rooted users couple years ago. And the reason behind it was the topics here, on XDA, about many people having the same problem.
So, long story short, showing how we are feeling about our devices and their companies (and also carriers sometimes) is necessary in the way I see things.
I think, more power to topics like these everywhere.
Whether you think it helps or not, switching off a light bulb that you are not using in your house, our sending a dollar somewhere in the world when you can spare it, makes a difference.
It's those people who start something that eventually save us all.
Onward.

Thanks for the hard work but:
We all have personal stuff on our phones and giving you the root or remote access to the phone means that you can have access to our personal items , plus having access to the IMEI, MEID, contacts, pictures, remotely wiping the device or conducting a factory reset, altering operating system settings and even remotely changing the PIN for the screen lock. Not a safe way man , can't you just post it here?
Don't worry about donations, if this really works then you will get donations from us.
Thanks.
Is this legit or what people this is exactly what I need it right at this moment anybody else experience and I'm not trying to insult you I'm just trying to discern whether or not this is phishing or not... That's correct.
Last year I had to travel for work so I unlocked the international sim support. I haven’t renewed my contract for more than 6 months and I don’t owe Sprint any money on the phone since I purchased it cash. I called Sprint customer service yesterday and asked them to unlock my phone for the domestic sim support since I own the handset. They checked my account and said since I own the device and I’m off the contract (month to month) then they will do it but it is going to take 4~5 days to generate the case and send the signal.
The support guy said he is going to send the domestic unlock signal to my phone. I believe if you don’t owe them money on the phone then they will unlock it for free.
Just wanted to share it with you guys.

With 5G you need to stand 5 feet from the cell tower to get it, they might as well add a plug on the cell tower so you can plug an extension cord in to your phone.

Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration..... but it doesn't matter. I don't need 5G on my phone for the foreseeable future, but my original point still stands, most people will wait for the new model to arrive now, and development efforts on this device will be stalled (already are, I think).

Check the fork. I think they are still trying to figure out how to fix the clock after google fucced it up. When Eric took the pie update he ask which moron put the clock on the left side. Larry has a home hub strapped to his back and asks his mechanical girl friend for the time so it never bothers him.

Seriously, that is not the feedback I am getting. T-mobile has it right running low bands for 5G but it will take time. The problem is most phones do not need that kind of speed. 50 Mb/s is fast enough for now to update apps/ROMs. Most are still buying and feel that 5G is more for home internet. I think 5G will take about 3 years to make any impact on the market place. Even then, most really don't care. It is a mistake to use 5G as a selling tool for phone because if the person does not get performace they will return the phone.
and yes low bands can become saturated.

I don't disagree. 5G is mostly useless for phones. Home internet and applications requiring extremely low latency and high bandwidth are where it will make an impact. That won't matter to most phone buyers though, as evidenced by the latest AT&T advertising campaign......
Before the mods come to clean and delete this thread, could we PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE know where we stand with lineageOS. @autoplus, you have contributed to the fork. What works and what does not ... and does lineage OS even boot on the Mix 3? If anyone has booted lineage, could you tell us does it look like lineage in N and O?
Just got the MIX 3. Currently waiting for the bootloader countdown, but don't know what ROM to flash.
Should I wait for the official Pixel Experience? Is there any ETA on that anyway?

I will not debate you on this but keep in mind that there are forum rules and everytime someone pushes things futher and futher it just sets a presidence for the next thing. More people will use this thread to post whatever they feel. Keep in mind ""Hi"" is not a topic. There is POT hi, hi how are you, hi. How high are you (altitude), etc. Again, this thread needs to be delete. If you feel different, I understand.

Successful flash of Android 10 on non rooted or unlocked vzw s10+

So I apologize if the title is a little too long but I just wanted to let everybody know if are like me and you wanted to get on the new beta for Android 10 but you don't have an unlocked or way to unlock your phone I am here to tell you that there is indeed a way.
the nice thing is that this does not trip Knox in anyway. It also does not void your warranty so if you are interested and you don't understand some of the posts in the flashing sections or you're too afraid because you don't want to mess anything up let me know.
I would post how to do it on here but I don't want to post something that people have already figured out I was just stating that for me as an autistic guy who had a little bit of trouble understanding the flashing guides I'm telling you that after about six hours of reading and messing with my phone and also having high anxiety because I did not want to screw it up in any sort of way...
The proof is in the screenshots like I said if you want to know how to do it, comments on this post and I will make a YouTube video showing how to do it that way it's easy for anybody to follow.
I also want to add that none of the bugs are present in the build I'm using now... My games seem a lot faster my speech-to-text seems a lot more correct and honestly I'm really glad I tried this...
im not sure i follow... can't anyone do this now without any kind of hacking? i literally just got the s10+ today (us unlocked version). it took me only minutes to register for the beta program and then download the update ota. im on ui2 and android 10 now.

Yes, your device can be bootloader unlocked (and therefore rooted). Unfortunately it's not a free solution. But if you're interested, PM me
My 960u is unlocked and rooted. Works great, but no support for aftermarket roms.
Well I am mostly concerned about just getting rid of all this Google junk.I want my freedom and privacy
