System update location - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

I recently rooted my device, and after trying to install an update that arrived this morning, the phone got stuck in TWRP for obvious reasons. I tried to locate the update using the built-in file manager but couldn't find anything
Where does the update file go when it's downloaded?

You can find the update file in folder /data/data/com.motoroal.ccc.ota/ (after downloading it).

[Q] Help restoring Kindle Fire (sending it back to Amazon)

So I followed the steps in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452) in the second post. I downloaded the update and renamed it update.zip and proceeded to do the factory reset. After this I went to install the update and was unable to locate it. So I went back to my computer and actually converted the file into a zip folder and copied it onto my kindle. This time it showed up but when I went to install it almost immediately came up with an error message ( Error flashing zip '/sdcard/update.zip' ).
I'm not sure if I was supposed to follow the steps in the first part of the post mainly because I have no idea what this means (adb uninstall com.noshufou.android.su) and because I've seen similar steps on other sites without the first half of that post.
Appreciate any help that can be provided.
You are supposed to rename the update.bin to update.zip, not zip up the original update.bin

When I did that I was unable to even locate the file.
I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not (in fact I'm pretty sure it doesn't) but the icon next to it is the VLC icon.
I've also tried using the kindle update utility to download the latest stock update zip. Nothing. I see my update.zip when I go into the file explorer under advanced or if I mount my usb to my computer but as soon as I go to install it's not showing up
hahaha I feel so dumb right now. I found it on the file explorer and it was named update.zip.bin. I then renamed it while in twrp and was able to find and install it. For whatever reason when I renamed it on my computer it would always end up as update.zip.bin
Download the update-kindle-6.3.1.bin from the Amazon website.
Rename the update-kindle-6.3.1.bin to update-kindle-6.3.1.zip.
Transfer the update-kindle-6.3.1.zip to the sdcard.
After wiping system and factory reset in TWRP, use the navigation window in the install menu of TWRP to navigate to your sdcard.
Flash the update-kindle-6.3.1.zip

[Q] How do I stop phone downloading OTAs?

Hello guys,
I have this phone running ZVA, I don't want this phone to be updated to latest KitKat, every time I connect to internet it starts downloading 618 MB KitKat OTA.zip
I tried this 5689#*980# code and under wifi settings I disabled OTA download, but, it still it downloads the file.
I have even tried freezing/renaming some applications through Titanium Backup and Root Explorer, but none of them works, phone just downloads that file.
I have tried zeroing out some partitions but still no luck.
Does anyone know how do I disable downloading this updates and future updates too? I don't want phone to even check for the updates.
Please help!

Try this...Must be rooted ofcourse. Use a file manager like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer or Astro, etc.
Disable OTA Update Notification
Go to /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip
Rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak
Reboot phone.

Help deleting OTA Files.

I need help locating and deleting Verizon's OTA update file and stopping future OTA. The G3 is rooted and has twrp installed so I can get to recovery. I found the ota files in cache but they come right back after a while. Not sure what file to delte to stop the ota. I would put a new Rom on it but my wife likes it as it is.
Have you already tried this method?...
How to Disable OTA Update Notification on LG G3 without Root
http://www.droidviews.com/disable-ota-update-notification-on-lg-g3-without-root/
D850 the files are stored in root folder cache then fota also when the notifacation pops up long press it the click on the receive notifacation box
I can and have deleted the files, but it downloads them again and then the install notice comes up. Long press does nothing. Need to know what file to delete or rename in twrp file manager.
I will try the secret menu trick.
From there i dont know just long press the notifacation

That is easy. Download the ota file with the settings (check update), then reboot to TWRP.
The update *.bin file is probably stored at:
Code:
/sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.device.software.ota/files/
Check the size of the file (don't flash partial updates), a full update bin should take about 500mb. You have to rename the file from bin to zip, then flash it with twrp.

Thanks a lot.
It worked
For some reason, I can't find the new OTA in this folder anymore:
/sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.device.software.ota/files/
Does anyone know, where the new path is?
In case the download is complete, it should be in that folder...
However, the .bin file could be also placed in /cache
Don't forget to rename the file to .zip, or twrp install won't show/find the file.

Upgrade global Rom from 11.0.0 to 11.0.2

So I've got a converted T-Mobile 7T running the global Rom w/o root. I have OxygenOS 11.0.0 installed and I downloaded the OTA update to 11.0.2 via oxygen updater.
The file is in the root directory on my phone and named
OnePlus7TOxygen_14.O.26_OTA_0250-0260_patch_2104142319_8926.zip
I go to system update and click local upgrade and I just get this message.
Move installation file to root directory.
UPDATE: I found a post that suggested moving it to the .OTA folder, that didn't work either.
Any ideas? Does the file need to be renamed to something else?
i used oxygen updater and then just went to system update local, but at the moment Im at fc on com.android. phone.
update: all is good with the system data wipe, i didn't wanna but had too ..lol
