Software to enable Always-On Display only when notifications are present ? - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hello,
Does anyone know a software that will enable Always-On Display only when at least a notification is present, and disable it when no notifications are present ?
Such a feature would save a ton of battery life !
Thanks !

I use instead of Alway on display an app called NoLed by madmak.
I think it's much more flexible, you can add custom notifications. Give it a try.

screen open when notifications come

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a way to make android screen open when notifications come
like iphone and blackberry priv
i try some apps but it's not good
We got that feature on our rom.
"Notification screen on" it is called. There's a whitelist too, so you can setup just certain apps.
Ambient Display is available too with black and whitelist.

Android Q double-tap-to-wake ambient display gone?

I upgraded to Android Q DP1 yesterday through OTA and noticed the double-tap-to-check-phone feature now always displays the full lockscreen including wallpaper. Same thing for lift-to-check-phone. In Pie, it used to show ambient display first when double tapped. I have the Always On Display disabled. Is this a bug?

Yes, the "Double-tap to check phone" and "Lift to check phone" options are still there, and when enabled those actions still wake the screen, but the wake behaviour has changed, which is what I'm wondering about. When woken, it now shows the full lock screen rather than the ambient display (black background and dark theme) that used to show up in Pie.

Ohhh...ok I know what you mean now. Personally, I like it the way it is now in Q.

It's down to personal preference for sure. I wish they would've made that wake behaviour configurable if it's not a bug.
I wish the same too even in full 10 release they didn't change this behaviour
It's better to wake the ambient display than to wale the whole phone in case you need to check nots.
:good:
Hey all!
I am glad too see somebody else also noticed it. I absolutely adore the clean design and funcionality of Pixel's AOD, but the changed funcionality of double-tap to wake (from waking AOD to waking the whole screen) annoys me. I even rolled back from Q beta to Pie hoping they would not implement this change in stable release. Now in order to see AOD you need to have it on constantly, which actually drains some 1% battery per hour (that actually makes it some 15-20 over a working day's period and is actually quite substantial.), also during the night. I also don't stare at the phone all the time to need AOD all that time - a gentle tap to peek the time, weather and notifications is just enough - I see some of you would agree.
Is there any way we can appeal to Google similar to OnePlus's feedback section?
Hey, has it also become iOS like?
I hate whole iOS lock screen turning on. What a shame
I spent time factory resetting my phone thinking that the missing ambient display settings were a bug, I never thought Google would remove that functionality. The language under the "Lock Screen Settings" sounds similar, but they don't do the same thing since now it just wakes the entire screen. Real bummer that Google keeps removing features.
Yeah, it seem they went almost full iOS on this And it was so good: tap twice - AOD shows, tap twice again on that AOD - the lock screen shows. Why Google, why! At least give us an option to schedule when the AOD can be turned off automatically (like at some hours at night).
And to think I bought the Pixel just a week ago to finally taste the stock Android. It is good, no doubt here (and the phone size and general style is very refreshing from thos behemoths I used from Sammy, OP or Huawei), but OnePlus seems much more thoughtful and practicality-oriented. And what is the more important the pledges from the OnePlus community actually work quite often which I don't expect with Google somehow.
I'm fine with it. Not a big deal.

[APP] Arc Lighting - Notification Light for Galaxy Note 10

Arc Lighting adds a highly customizable ring of light around the camera cutout of your phone. You can use this light with various indicators such as audio visualization, notification lighting, critical or low battery warnings, as well as a charge indicator. The ring can also appear on your Always-On display. (to make aod work you need to make sure you have downloaded always on amoled and activated it, you also need to make sure samsung stock aod and samsung edge lighting is disabled under samsung display settings you also need to make sure that aod is enabled under arclighting with override set to off)
Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and Note 10. Select a variety of colors, animations, and styles.
- Always show ring with various gradient effects (add multiple colors and make them spin for a visual experience)
- An adjustable glow effect that can be turned on or off
- Notification lighting both when the display is on or off (update planned for only the lockscreen or only inapp)
- Music lighting that syncs the light to your music
- Battery indicator lighting for charging, low and critical battery states. (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear)
- Device overheating indicator for gamers and power users (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear)
- Arc Lighting can be configured to match the color of your wallpaper, the app you're currently in, or both!
This app requires certain permissions to function correctly.
Accessibility: This permission is used for the ring to appear over your lock screen, always-on display, and for accessing the color of the current app you're in. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Draw Over Other Apps: This permission allows the ring to show on top of other apps. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Microphone Access: This permission is used to analyze the internal device audio for the music lighting. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to enable the Audio Visualizer indicator for the ring.
Storage Access: This permission is used to get the color of your wallpaper. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to use the color of your wallpaper for the ring.
Notification access: This permission is used to change the color of the ring after notifications
Burn-in concerns: Some Android displays may suffer from mild burn-in if a single item is displayed on the screen for an extremely significant amount of time. If you are concerned about this, feel free to enable the rotation animation in ring settings. That will ensure the display is constantly changing. Alternately, you can disable the default effect to only show the ring while an indicator is being triggered. Note: Samsung Galaxy devices come with burn-in protection that moves the pixels a little each time.
Compatible Devices
- Galaxy S10+
- Galaxy S10
- Galaxy S10e
- Galaxy note 10 (not tested yet)

it is updated for the note 10 but i have only tested it on the s10+ please test it and let me know and send a message for the code
Been using the app for a few hours now and really like it. Works very very well.
Phone is on silent at work so these notifications are helpful.
Using this with the AOD notify. The latter is helpful when the screen is off or face down.
Keep up the good work [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

Downloaded and purchased. This app is exactly what I needed since the Note 10 doesn't have LED notification anymore.
Thanks!

thank you that means a lot, i still want to include more features but i owe the developer money and he won't do any more updates until i paid it off some things i want to implement
fix bugs like the landscape bug, glow and music turning off other indicators
add a connected or disconnected or both to the app and get rid of the charging indicator so you can choose what color you want, right now you can use a work around to see charge level for that by setting a custom zone for the battery indicator and then setting it to between 99 and 100 for it to turn green there but it will do it even when the phone is disconnected but it works to know when it's fully charged
inapp/homescreen/lockscreen/charging/discharging modes so you can choose a configuration for each like only notification lighting on the lockscreen and only the spinning visual effect on the homescreen
gradient and animations per app and toggle to enable or disable notifications for certain apps so for example when you are performing a call it can do a gradient animation specific for that.
i have plenty of ideas but no funding to do it so the app could be much much better.

Everything seems to be working well. Is there a setting that allows for incremental adjustments to the ring? It is just slightly off center with the actual hole. Do I PM you for the code or is feedback here good?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
how do i disable individual notifications: currently this is a planned update, you can go into custom colors and set each app you don't want notifying to 100% transparent
light is constantly flashing even if i cleared all notifications: sometimes theres forced notifications such as when you're charging it will force a notification that says you're fast charging, the light will pick up on these you need to hold on these notifications and turn them off to stop the light there should be nothing at all in the notificationpanel, if you still have a flashing light with nothing in the panel contact me.
frozen light: music lighting will disable all other indicators same with battery indicator or battery temp indicator, you need to set custom zones otherwise the light will be frozen, glow also tends to freeze the light so turn that off if it's frozen (this will be fixed in a coming update)

Glad I'm not the only one. I really should have posted about it with screenshots at the time, but honestly didn't think about it.
Interested ! May I have a code?

A simply way to show Ambient Display only on notification

No notifications waiting makes the screen off and AOD not showing.
Recieving or already having a notification shows AOD.
On top of that you can select which apps are important to you to behave this way for their notifications and ignore others, also can be set similary for charging = on / not charging = off.
Yet it has no impact on battery maybe it will use like additional 0.009%
1- Install Always On Edge App
2- in Main settings section -> enable With AOD invisible -> but show AOD on notifications.
3- Main settings -> optional permissions -> AOD lighting controller.
4- save.
And that is it no need to enable any other permission or feature. However, please note that if you enable edge lighting then timing will be applied.
It's a paid app tho (and an expensive one too I mean 5/6 USD when converting from my local currency it's a bit expensive IMHO), but thanks anyway
@TonyGzl92 it is 3$ for all feature including this except Animated wallpapers. If you do not want wallpaper no need to pay 5$
You can do that for free with aodNotify. No ads, no need to pay.
