[ROMs][Quarks][List for Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo and Droid Turbo] - Moto Maxx Android Development

EDIT: SEE THIS POST FOR MOST RECENT UPDATES. We have Oreo ROMs now.
_______________

TWO new Nougat ROMs in the past week, both being maintained by @P013onEr:
Mokee has returned to the Quark with another maintainer. @bhb27 previously had official Mokee back with Marshmallow; he dropped it and took up crDroid in addition to RR. This is now an "unofficial" Mokee for Nougat. But "unofficial" can be good. As with our other unofficial LOS ROM by @calsurferpunk, he's able to make changes not allowed for "official" ROMs.
Speaking of which -- the reason I said "other" LOS -- we now have a 2nd unofficial LOS ROM, by @P013onEr. This new ROM is based on the LOS OMS branch -- while @calsurferpunk's longtime unofficial LOS ROM comes from the official LOS branch, but with some added features @bhb27 puts in RR (thus why @calsurferpunk's ROM is still considered "unofficial"). Both devs own Droid Turbo and are on Verizon. (But the ROMs are compatible for all Quarks.) Android is all about choice and we welcome all dev work.
So, we have NINE Nougat ROMS supported by maintainers compatible with all Moto Quarks (XT1254, XT1225, XT1250). And with the Quark Multi-ROM tool by prolific dev @bhb27 , you can try out more than one.

Here's the Marshmallow (6.0.1) Quark ROMs to choose from. However, most development has stopped on this bulleted list below. If you install them, they will still work, but there will be no future development. @bhb27 last gave an update to RR 6.X in March 2017, but you can still run it fairly safely if you install his up-to-date standalone custom kernel along with it. I was on RR 6.X until recently, and my wife's XT1225 is still on it. However, if you want Blueborne protection you need a current Nougat ROM with at least September 2017 safety patch.
[ROM][All Quark][6.x.x]Resurrection Remix (last update was March 2017)
Bliss Rom 6.4 by Team Bliss
[ROM][6.0.1][OFFICIAL][QUARK] MoKee OpenSource Project
[Rom] NEXUS EXPERIENCE 10.4 [MotoMaxx]
AOKP - Android Open Kang Project[6.0.1][Marshmallow]
[Moto MAXX XT1225 / Droid Turbo XT1254][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 13.0[6.0.1]
[ROM][2016-09-17][Quarks][CM 13.0 Unofficial][6.0.1] (hybrid of CM13 and Resurrection Remix)
That list above is in no particular order, except 6.X RR has the most recent update.
_________________________
These two below are listed separately because they are mostly for the XT1254/XT1250, while the ones above are for ALL Quarks (XT1254, XT1225, XT1250). @iiWoodstocK's ROM will run on any Quark, but it's just stock Motorola Brazilian XT1225 Marshmallow ROM with CMDA build prop added and @bhb27 custom kernel so wi-fi worked... No other tweaks. So, the only advantage to XT1225 users is it can be installed via TWRP. For XT1254/XT1250 users however for MONTHS it was the ONLY stock Marshmallow ROM available which would run on their phones. There was no Verizon VoLTE, but it had everything else.
MARSHMALLOW - OTHER:
@computerfreek274 Marshmallow ROM for the Droid Turbo XT1254 (it will also work for the XT1250, of course) based on the Verizon's belated Marshmallow firmware. He has debloated it, tweaked it. It has Verizon voicemail app, Verizon VoLTE (only works on Verizon), Verizon Wi-Fi calling (only works on Verizon), some volume boost, and battery saving tweaks. It is still under development -- unlike those Marshmallow ROMs above.
There's also a "non-Verizon" version (without Verizon apps) of his ROM posted in that thread, but again it's just for the XT1254 (and XT1250) as it is based on Verizon's Droid Turbo stock firmware. Do NOT try to install it on an XT1225!

You can also install a Marshmallow stock ROM released by Motorola for the Brazilian Quark. @iiWoodstocK adapted it so it runs on ANY Quark, including the XT1254 Droid Turbo or XT1250 U.S. Moto Maxx (clone of the XT1254). It will use YOUR radio, whatever you have installed.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/rom-mpg24-107-70-2-brazilian-6-0-1-t3426234
I didn't include it in the Marshmallow list above, because while technically it is a custom ROM, the only "customization" was to allow it to be flashed via TWRP and to allow it to be used on ALL Quarks: XT1254/XT1250/XT1225. Otherwise, it's pure Motorola Marshmallow stock which was officially released for a Quark phone.

One more ROM this week, another one being maintained by @P013onEr:
Flyme has returned to the Quark with another maintainer, and now in Marshmallow. (Based on cm-13.0-20161221-SNAPSHOT-ZNH5YAO3Y5-quark.zip) A little unusual, as most of the new ROMs are Nougat. The last time we saw Flyme it was Lollipop. It's now listed as "stable", was first posted as "beta" -- so you can ignore the first two pages of comments in that thread.
Here's the list of Nougat and Marshmallow ROMs below, all compatible with with all Moto Quarks (XT1254, XT1225, XT1250). And with the Quark Multi-ROM tool by prolific dev @bhb27 , you can try out more than one.

Two bits of news:
@Hlcpereira, who maintained two Nougat ROM -- AOSPExtended and Viper -- has discontinued those ROMs. You can read his announcement here. We will miss him but he seems to still be commenting in Quark threads, so we will still have his expertise.
As a going away present, @Hlcpereira has updated Viper ROM one last time.
You are still free to use those ROMs if you wish, they will just not be updated unless someone else takes them over. @Hlcpereira himself kept AOSPExtended alive, taking it over from another ROM maintainer.
I am also removing Cosmic ROM from the Nougat list, as I noticed the ROM maintainer has abandoned it, not releasing an update since April 2017? If he updates, I will add it back.
I am still keeping the Marshmallow list intact for now, as people KNOW those are older ROMs and if they install them they know what they are getting. But the Nougat ROMs should be fairly current. Once we start adding Oreo ROMs, I will probably cull the Marshmallow list considerably.
As for Oreo ROMs, here's the latest news on that from uber Quark developer @bhb27:

Nougat to Oreo will be way slower then Marshmallow to Nougat was...
I expect something close to stable in 3+ moths from now. Right now it boots, display and touchscreen work but noting else not even wifi works...
I share a test ROM the day I have some of the main functions working, probably at the end of next month I have something, but maybe not.

____
The screen shot i included in the post #4 was of @bhb27 working on Resurrection Remix Oreo ROM. Did you not see it? It's just not ready yet.
No Oreo ROMs yet, 2-3 months away. That's what @bhb27 says and he's the one who knows. If you read the post, maybe Google Translate, I even include links to a couple of posts explaining WHY dev @bhb27 is so important to this.

Duplicates. XDA was acting wonky when I submitted post #8. XDA posted the same thing three times, after not responding when I hit submit. Just hung there, frozen. So I hit submit again. Nothing.
Again, nothing.
THEN, suddenly it showed I'd now posted the same thing three times. So I edited the duplicate posts #9 and #10, to say "duplicate".
You can't delete posts on XDA. You can only edit them if mistakes are made.

Why don't you just read this thread you are in? I answer that question in posts #4, #6, #8.
And post #4 even explains why. #6 and #8 were basically repeating myself, because someone didn't want to actually read post #4.

You can read the latest update in this post, as well as see a screenshot of Quark Oreo 8.1 @bhb27 posted.

One update.
@Hlcpereira, who had said goodbye has returned to bring back AOSPExtended ROM.

Since AospExtended is updating Nougat sources for now (I know Nougat is deprecated as f*ck, but since it's the best option for Quarks for now let's keep it), I have decide revive AospExtended for Quarks. I don't have the device anymore as you know, but Official status for Nougat builds will be keep it. I'm gonna do an update as soon as possible.

A few days ago, he did post an update of that ROM.
________________
Here's the list of Nougat and Marshmallow ROMs below, all compatible with with all Moto Quarks (XT1254, XT1225, XT1250). And with the Quark Multi-ROM tool by prolific dev @bhb27 , you can try out more than one.
__________________
Here's the current custom Nougat (7.x) Quark ROMs to choose from.
[ROM][All Quark][7.x] Resurrection Remix
[ROM][Quarks][LOS 14.1 Unofficial][7.1.x] (While @calsurferpunk's ROM is from the OFFICIAL LOS branch with latest security patches, it's a hybrid of LOS with some Quark Resurrection Remix features added -- thus it's "unofficial" on purpose.)
[ROM][7.1.2_r36][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS with OMS patches for Quark (This ROM by @P013onEr is from a different LOS branch than the one above.)
[ROM][7.x][All quark] crDroid Android
[ROM][7.1.2_r36][OFFICIAL] AospExtended v4.6 [OMS/DUI][Quarks]
[ROM][7.1.2_r36][UNOFFICIAL][QUARK] MoKee OpenSource Project
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL]AOKP 7.x For All Quark
________________
Here's the Marshmallow (6.0.1) Quark ROMs to choose from. However, except for the new Flyme, most development has stopped on this bulleted list below. If you install them, they will still work, but there will be no future development . @bhb27 last gave an update to RR 6.X in March 2017, but you can still run it fairly safely if you install his up-to-date standalone custom kernel along with it.
[18-2-9][ROM][MM][Stable] Flyme 6.7.12.29IR for Quarks
[ROM][All Quark][6.x.x]Resurrection Remix (last update was March 2017)
Bliss Rom 6.4 by Team Bliss
[ROM][6.0.1][OFFICIAL][QUARK] MoKee OpenSource Project
[Rom] NEXUS EXPERIENCE 10.4 [MotoMaxx]
AOKP - Android Open Kang Project[6.0.1][Marshmallow]
[Moto MAXX XT1225 / Droid Turbo XT1254][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 13.0[6.0.1]
[ROM][2016-09-17][Quarks][CM 13.0 Unofficial][6.0.1] (hybrid of CM13 and Resurrection Remix)
That list above is in no particular order, except Flyme and 6.X RR which are the most recent.
* Computerfreek274_MM_1.0.4 Marshmallow 6.0.1 Stock rooted VoLTE Debloated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/computerfreek274mm1-0-android-6-0-1-t3503634
* [ROM][6.0.1][Stock][Odexed]MPG24.107-70.2 Brazilian 6.0.1 for XT1254[TWRP Flashable]
Stock 6.0.1 MPG24.107-70.2 (Brazil) for Verizon XT1254
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/rom-mpg24-107-70-2-brazilian-6-0-1-t3426234

DUPLICATE. XDA acting wonky again.

[ROMs][6.x][7.x][ALL QUARK] Location: Turbo Forum

Instead of trying to keep up with multiple threads on the same subject, I decided to just post this here:
I've managed to build some additional ROMs for the Motorola Quark, which include DROID Turbo, Moto MAXX, and Moto Turbo. However, since I'm a DROID Turbo owner, the threads for these ROMs are located in the Turbo Forum. These ROMs have been tested and will work on All Quark Devices, using stock kernel and most likely BHB27-Kernel. All the info can be found in the links below, so head on over and check it out!
ROM List
Marshmallow:
AOKP 6.0.1 (Unofficial)
BlissRoms 6.0.1 (Unofficial)
Nougat:
AOKP 7.x (Currently Unofficial)
Regards,
Nepo
PS, there's really no reason to reply to this thread about any of the above ROMs, use the relevant thread for each one.
i have used both the roms they are very good

[lt03lte] [Resurrection Remix 5.8.4 unofficial] vs. [lineage 14.1]

I am looking to upgrade my p607t from lollipop 5.1.1 to either {RR-N-v5.8.4-20170808-lt03lte-Unofficial} or {lineage-14.1-20170816-nightly-lt03lte-signed}.
I would like to get some opinions..... which one do you prefer? I like what i hear about the customization options from RR, but I am concerned about the unofficial version, and how easy/difficult it would be to update it as necessary. I was also wondering how the battery life and stability compare.
Thanks all
RR unofficial has the same few bugs as Lineage unofficial, as they are from the same dev, Lineage official is said to be in a hardly useable state.

Which Nougat ROM (for 815) with latest Android security patches?

Hi!
Thanks for a great forum!
I am going to go MM->N on my G4 but I would like to have current security patches, or at least have one that is as late as possible.
What ROM would you suggest?
Thanks in advance
AOSCP N unofficial. Check out the OP in the official 6.0.0 thread and from the unofficial link there you can get the 4.2 nougat version too
Hmmm
Thanks,
I wonder why the official build isn't N, given that there are N-compatible blobs for everything...
Or is AOSCP a blobfree OS?

No. Every ROM has blobs. AOSCP has moved to O for its official releases and discontinued N as it is old.
However for the G4 there are a few deal bugs (no bt hands free calls and no flashlight tile) that aren't in N (although encryption works on O unlike N)
Hi,
I am using AOSCP Oreo, but do not like that bluetooth is not working properly. Therefore I want to downgrade to Nougat..
Is there any Nougat ROM with the latest security patches from December 2018? The latest AOSCP Nougat version is from April 2018.
Thanks in advance!

Which ROM do you recommend? (NOUGAT)

I've been using Oreo for quite a while now but I want to switch back to Nougat.
I'm looking for a bugless (or quasi) rom
Nougat moto G5 users, i'm asking you, what do you recommend?
AOESPExtended or LOS

Confused: Why 32bit only OS on Moto G5 64bit hardware?

Hi!
If I understand things correctly, my Moto G5 phone is born with an Android OS version that only accepts 32bit code, although the hardware is 64bit?
Why did Moto do that? It sounds like selling a car with a 6 or 8 cylinders engine, and only use 4 of them...?!
And on top of that, I discovered they stopped updating that (primitive 32bit) Android 8.1.0 OS in February 2019...
Should I switch to a custom 64bit ROM? NB!: Stability and robustness is more important to me than fancy new features...!
I found 2 lists of 'Best ROMs for Moto G5'. The shortest recommends 8 here:
https://romsx.com/best-custom-roms-for-moto-g5/
So which should I choose?
NB: Moto G5 only has 16 GB.

You will have to ask Motorola for the answer to the first part
As for custom 64bit roms:
Lineage 17.1
Lineage mint (based on lineage 17.1)
ASOP android 10
Are the latest custom roms for this device (see dev section)
All will have the same issue with regards to camera/video recording not working fully

Thank you for your reply!
But what about ROMs that have been more tested in real life, where camera and video etc. work?
Yes - it is Motorola that should answer my first questions. I don't expect any answer from them... But others might have a comment...

All 64bit roms will have the camera issue as Motorola have not released updated camera libs
The roms I listed above are the latest roms which will have the camera bug minimised but you will still experience issues in some apps like only being able to take a certain amount of photos before the app freezes, camera not working in low light, green tint, video not recording/saving and so on. You can use various other apps but nothing is perfect and you may still experience issues
The only fully functioning custom rom with no bugs will be the 32bit lineage 14.1

That is the most useful information I have yet seen about custom ROMs - thank you!
But according to https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/7-1-x-lineageos-14-1-moto-g5-t3611973 LineageOS 14.1 for Moto G5 is:
ROM OS Version: 7.1.x Nougat
Last Updated 2018-03-18
And the 'stock' OS on my Moto G5 is Android 8.1.0 updated in February 2019.
My intention was to UPgrade my OS, not DOWNgrade it... !
So THAT LineageOS 14.1 doesn't really seem relevant.
And on https://download.lineageos.org/ there doesn't seem to be a version for Moto G5(?) There are versions for G4 and G6, but not G5. (Neither under Lenovo - the actual producer.)
But thanks anyway!

Only official versions will be on the lineageos website
There is no difference between an official and unofficial version except the official versions are built on the lineage servers every week with any lineage side changes (not device side unless merged by maintainer)
However official versions have to meet certain criteria in terms of everything that works in stock rom must work in the unofficial lineage build submitted to become official.
As the camera doesn't work as it does in stock in lineage 17.1 it will never become official in its current state
They are listed under Motorola because that is the company that makes the phones
Lenovo is the parent company that owns Motorola

That's sad.
So when I want to buy a phone in the future:
Which other smart phone brands will probably not leave their customers with 'a choice between plague or cholera'...?

Samsung will have the most community support as they are the most popular phones
Google pixel will obviously have longevity
Xiaomi might be the best budget choice other than later Motorola models
