You're joking, right? Blueborne, man. Probably the worst Bluetooth security vulnerability in a while, if not ever. Basically every OS has had it patched across the board except - surprise! - Android.

There's an official thread about that issue here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-Z-Force/Moto-Z2-force-TMobile-not-updating/td-p/3833111 Are you rooted, unlocked, or anything like that?

All good, buddy. I only recently - as in, since the start of this year - started seriously following Android (lack of) security. It's pretty scary once you start keeping up with it. Basically the entire Android ecosystem is where Windows was pre-XP SP2.

no worries! yep, all good. i used to do source builds for my nexus 5, but sold that 2 years ago for an LG G4, that i traded in on my Z2F so i've been kinda out of the loop so to speak in following android myself. hoping that will change with this phone. kernel source is out, should only be a matter of time for twrp
but back on topic, im wondering if i will get the update since ive unlocked. i took the august patch before did it, so guess we will see

i'm a part of that thread as Mike-Mike

Yeah I'm the creator of the thread. Sure day was the first day it wasn't being sent. A user on our team used my flash all and got the update last Saturday and it's odd TMobile hasn't came out with a full stock updated rom like other carriers have.

Oct 17 security update has new camera app too

There was a new security update for the Verizon version of the Moto E4 this week. It may have been released across the whole Moto E4 product line.
Besides securing the phone from the Blueborne Bluetooth weakness, the update also updated the camera app.
I was pleasantly surprised with both.
Does anyone know if the camera is performing any better in low light? The camera has been one of the few big weaknesses of this great cheap phone.
My Boost Mobile Moto E4 has received a whopping ZERO updates. It's still sitting on the May security patch... Hopefully we actually receive the update at some point.

Yeah, me too. I was hoping for an update to come before I stary making stock rom zips but I think I might as well stop waiting. They Boost never gets updates very often.

Waiting and hoping... The story of Android.
The kicker, I have a LG Stylo 2, that was updated to the September security patch a couple of weeks ago, in fact LG has supported that phone consistently throughout the years. Sad to see Motorola, who builds basically a AOSP phone, unable to provide updates in any sort of consistent manner. I like Android, but that's way I switched over to iPhone... Timely Support.

Spend the same money on an Android that you did on that other thing and bingo, timely updates (well just get a pixel if you can afford it)

There is a huge difference between the two. $800+ on a Pixel and only 2 years of support, spend $800+ on an iPhone and 4+ years of support.
I can't afford to spend large amounts of money every couple of years to play catch up.

Pixel 2 gets 3yrs. Then security patches for a couple more. And if you use custom ROMs, then well, my S3 is running 7.1.2 and may get Oreo.

That's fine for a $50 phone, but I won't spend $800+ on a phone and need to flash custom ROMs to stay up-to-date.

Not here to debate Android vs iOS. If that's what you're looking for, ...
You'll find it somewhere. Just saying you were comparing this phone to big A's pride and joy. Not fair. Enough OT. Moving on.
P.S. I come TO flash ROMs, it's XDA.

Absolutely! IOS is quite bland, that's why I still buy Android devices to play with. But security and longevity is most important to me.
Security?? Everything that's on ANY Apple product they have a copy of on their servers.

No more updates, security or otherwise?

Since installing 8.0.0 there hasn't even been a security update. Are updates done for the HTC 10? 8.0.0 broke Bluetooth media info in my vehicle so I had fingers crossed for an 8.0.1 or 8.1. Battery life dropped a lot for me too. Time to downgrade or install Lineage?
I have the same question/problem.

I don't think anything is coming. We're past the two year update period htc usually promises. There were a couple updates for the Taiwan variant since Oreo came out, but if we haven't gotten those by now I would be surprised if we ever get them.

If I'm not mistaken it was just a security update. We will have to wait a few more months for Android 9.0 and the new One skin unfortunately.
November security update is the only thing that got updated.
Thanks gentlemen.
Yes it was just a security update, normally every month Verizon sends one out

[T-Mobile Variant] I guess were getting a security patch update every 2 months?

Just updated my phone at work for a security patch and went from September to November that's cool I guess, I was kinda hoping for December but I guess we will skip December get January's in February
I personally don't understand all the hoopla over a security patch.. No offense, but I never had any phone of mine compromised, even if I did not have the latest patch.. I always look forward to the new Android OS or other updates that actually make improvements to the phone.. My phone go the Nov updated 2 weeks ago.. I never did understand why they wait to actually get these things out.. If it is so critical, they need to push it out when it actually comes out.

I remember when I bought my Moto Z2 Force. Then first time I booted it up, I got 4 updates one right after the other April-August.. If these companies want to retain customers, then yes, they need to step up the game a bit...

Question July Update?

Anyone know when the July Update is coming (for P6P)?
I have issues with dropping signal, so was kinda hoping there might be a fix there.

Updates always release on the 1st Monday of each month. If that Monday falls on a holiday like it has this year -- the update will be out the following Monday.

The update will come when the update comes. Be patient.
And be grateful that Pixel devices enjoy monthly updates like this. Most OEMs can't be bothered to provide an update twice a year, much less once a month.

But all 3 giving a 404 error for the time being ... I guess they are being uploaded as we speak ...

Up to June update I didn't had any problems. Like you it, it ruined my Pixel experience... Updated to July, and will run it for a couple of days and see how it goes. Need to travel for work.
Downloading the update now. If you started to have cell problems with the June update then I suggest a FULL wipe for the July update. The full wipe for June solved my cell problems. I have not seen an "!" in over a week!
Has anyone seen the release notes for the July update?

Nah you won't brick anything with switching between Global/EMEA.
But it might cause some troubles. E.g. I always imagined the ppl with network connectivity issues might just be on the wrong build. But I have no idea so far.
