I flashed my own profiles and it worked fine, but for one profile, I got a bootloop. I think the ones that Nikhil made should work

Is it only for AOSP Oreo or can be flashed on top of unofficial Lineage 15?

superb wrk bro thanks alot

OK, I installed this official version of Thunder Kernel, after having run the extracted .img thunder kernel from the r10 version of AOSP Oreo 8 for about a week now.
This official version seems to be running well. However, I noticed that there is a file in my init.d folder that is named UKM which was created with the install of this kernel. What is this file?? And is it supposed to run automatically each time I do a reboot? Nothing else I put in the init.d folder used to run automatically when I reboot, like my custom profile for kamod. I have to run that manually each time after a reboot.
There is also a new folder in my data/ that has the same name of UKM, and has many files in it. So, I'm thinking that this is some sort of kernel auditor, would I be correct? The reason I"d like to know is because I'm using kamod to apply a custom profile now, but I don't want to do that if this new official Thunder Kernel is somehow applying it's own custom profile...
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.
UPDATE: After some time on the 'ol interweb, I see that UKM is some sort of program that is supposed to be used with Synapse to adjust settings in a custom kernel. However, when I installed Synapse, it would not work on r11 Oreo 8.0, saying that "No UCI support detected". So, I'm still at a loss as to why UKM was installed, and what I'm supposed to do with it, and how I access it.
Anyone have any links, or pointers for me about this?

AFAIK,there are not much changes in los15 as of now,so it is more or less aosp.Hence, kernel should work on it.

Can I flash this kernel and do no modifications to it?
Will it then too give good battery?

Thank you for the work you've put in this kernel and gapps deadlyindian.
Small clarification needed for the not-so-knowledgeable: according to the thanks's given in the first post, is it safe to assume that this kernel supports Sultan's camera?

Thank you. I did some more digging, and found out that the AnyKernel2 wrapper you are using for your kernel does, in fact, install UKM ( Universal Kernel Manager ) as part of the flashing process. Why this is, I have no idea, but for me personally, I do not want UKM on my system unless there is a good reason for it. That's just the way I roll...
So, for the time being, I just used the boot.img file from r10 of the ASOP Oreo 8.0 rom (which does not have UKM contained in it) as a base for your new kernel. What I did was to unpack boot.img and remove the old kernel, and put your zImage into it instead. Then I rebuilt the boot.img file, and flashed it using TWRP-TugaPower.
Worked out great! Now I have your new Thunder Kernel running in the rom, without having UKM forced on me. Problem solved, until you can get things sorted out. Maybe you wanted UKM to be installed along with your kernel, and maybe you didn't... but for now, this works for me.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this kernel, I certainly appreciate it !!

It's already there. Using kamod I can set speaker gain, volume gain, and microphone gain.. Also can enable headset high performance mode.
Is that what you're looking for??

Introduction
As of July 11th, 2018, this kernel has been discontinued as I have sold the device. Since I don't recommend using a kernel that is not constantly updating, I suggest looking at RenderZenith if you are on OxygenOS or Singularity if you are on a custom ROM.
Hello everyone, this is my personal kernel for the OnePlus 5. While I am not a super star kernel developer, I do know my way around it. My philosophy on kernels is pretty simple:
Follow stable Linux always. Updates will be delivered within 24 hours of their release to kernel.org.
Stable kernel rules work best (only add small things when possible).
Security and stability are paramount. Vulnerabilities are patched as soon as they are disclosed.
Features will be added only as needed (I have a list of things in the FAQ I will NOT add, even if requested).
Hopefully you enjoy
Important thread information!
I refuse to acknowledge/respond to bug reports that do not include clear steps to reproduce, a logcat, and a console ramoops (if random rebooting) or a dmesg (any other issues). Follow this guide to do this.
Keep things civil, I do NOT tolerate flaming of any kind.
OT is allowed.
Features
NOTE: This list fluctuates with versions, it will not always been 100% up to date
Here are the major features of the kernel (feel free to explore Github)
Up to date with OOS (5.1.3 and Open Beta 12)
Custom branch compatible with most 8.1.0 ROMs (see below)
Up to date with the latest stable Linux version (4.4.140)
Up to date with the latest CAF tag for Oreo (LA.UM.6.2.r1-09300-sdm660.0)
Mainline patches from Linux, focusing on bug fixes/security
Mainline CFQ scheduler improvements
Kernel hardening from CopperheadOS
Several subsystems converted to use power efficient workqueues
The following user facing features:
Accidental touch protection on hardware keys
Backlight dimmer
KCAL color control
Maple I/O scheduler
Sweep2sleep
Sound control
Wakelock control
Latest WireGuard snapshot (0.0.20180708)
Westwood as the default TCP algorithm
Built with a self compiled Clang 7.0 toolchain with a local initialization sanitizer (build script here, previously built with the latest Google Clang 6.0 toolchain here)
Hides bootloader unlock from SafetyNet (can still fail through other means)
Disables dm-verity
Does NOT modify decryption status
Flashed with AnyKernel2 (thanks to @osm0sis)
Downloads
Primary: https://github.com/nathanchance/op5/releases
NOTE: The newer builds of 3.x and 4.x are unified! The zip will dynamically detect if you are on OxygenOS or a custom ROM and flash the correct kernel image.
NOTE #2: 3.x is for OOS 5.x 8.0, 4.x is for OOS 5.x 8.1
Installation
Through TWRP:
If you are on stock:
If you are on the stock kernel: flash the kernel zip and reboot
If you are on a custom kernel: flash the stock boot image matching your build number, flash the kernel zip, and reboot. I would also recommend dirty flashing the latest OOS zip as well.
If you are on a custom ROM:
If you are on the kernel that came with your ROM: flash the kernel zip and reboot
If you are on a custom kernel: dirty flash your ROM zip, flash the kernel zip, and reboot
Upgrading from one Flash version to the other:
Just flash the kernel zip and reboot
Through Franco Kernel Manager (requires root):
Getting back to stock if necessary (only needed if coming from another kernel):
Grab the latest stock boot image from the OTA zip.
Click on "Manual flasher", select the boot image, and select "Just Flash".
Reinstall Magisk through Magisk Manager (Install -> Direct Install).
If on stock or upgrading from another Flash release:
Download the zip (and optionally, the md5) from the link above
Tap on "Manual flasher"
Navigate to Download
Tap on the zip, select Auto-flash, and choose one of the options.
Reboot and enjoy!

Frequently asked questions
1.1 Q: I am having an issue, can you help me?
1.1 A: I am not an amazing kernel developer but I will certainly try my best. First, start by reading the release posts, as I may make note of a particular issue. Also search the thread to see if I have discussed it before. If you see nothing, please provide me with a dmesg/last_kmsg and logcat, your ROM/kernel version, and a detailed description of the issue, following this guide. If I can't reproduce reliably, I'm not going to fix the issue.
1.2 Q: What ROMs are compatible with the custom builds?
1.2 A: As of March 14th, 2018, I have confirmed the following ROMs are 100% compatible with Flash:
LineageOS
Dirty Unicorns
Codename: Phoenix
GZOSP/Validus
OmniROM
AICP
If you are using a ROM with no issues, let me know and I'll add it here! If you are having issues, following the above steps and I'll attempt to fix whatever incompatibility there is. If I can't do it without breaking LineageOS/Dirty Unicorns, you're out of luck.
1.3 Q: Can you add xyz feature?
1.3 A: If you link me the commits or tell me what kernel you had the feature in, I can take a look at them. I will not go digging super hard for commits and I will ignore requests that don't include this information. I won't promise that I will merge every request but I will always take it into consideration. I will NOT add the following:
Overclocking or underclocking of CPU or GPU
Undervolting
Any governors other than interactive
Any schedulers other than cfq and maple
Anything that compromises performance
1.4 Q: How do I control the kernel?
1.4 A: I want to be very clear: the kernel does NOT need to be tuned to be useful. Most of the improvements are under the hood and don't require any user intervention to take advantage of them. In fact, if you don't know what you are doing, you could degrade the experience.
To control the user visible features of the kernel listed above, I recommend using either @franciscofranco's Kernel Manager for Franco Kernel (which has Flash Kernel support for downloading and automatically flashing the latest kernel zip along with some nice, user friendly ways for tuning the kernel) or @flar2's EX Kernel Manager.
1.5 Q: OMFG MY BATTERY SUXXXX PLS FIX!!!
1.5 A: The kernel doesn't drain any battery, use an app like BetterBatteryStats to figure out what app is screwing with your phone.
1.6 Q: I am not getting notifications on OOS, what is the cause?
1.6 A: This could be for a couple of reasons. If you haven't already, disable advanced optimizations in Settings > Battery > Battery optimization > Three menu dots. Another reason may be that I ship a compiled Wi-Fi module. I do this for two reasons: I want to have the latest fixes and I enable CONFIG_MODULE_SIG, which checks the signature of a module before loading it for security reasons. This could introduce some incompatibility with OOS, which is something I have no control over.
Thanks to:
The various other developers for their patches (specifically @zx2c4 for WireGuard and @joshuous for fixing the notification delay on Wi-Fi)
@osm0sis for AnyKernel2
@franciscofranco for adding Flash Kernel support to Kernel Manager for Franco Kernel
@adinkwok for being a bro
@phantom146 for the thread banner
All of you guys for viewing the thread
A note about donations
Quite a few people have asked to donate to me in the past and I have turned them down. I am not in this for the money, this is my hobby, something I truly enjoy. If you truly want to donate to something (it is not expected in the slightest), I recommend an entity like the Open Source Initiative, the Free Software Foundation, XDA, or any one of the people I have thanked in the OP. Additionally, you are free to copy any and all of my work; the only thing I request is that you not ask for donations as well (though I can't really enforce this lol). Thank you.

Some initial notes:
1. I have been working on this non-stop since I got the phone yesterday; it's been very stable as I have not made any drastic changes.
2. I have included a few normal features; I am open to additional suggestions (though please read the entire OP before doing so).
3. If you flash the custom version. please let me know if it works without issue so I can add it to the list. If it doesn't, please follow the bug reporting policy in the OP.
I have been up for almost 24 hours at this point so I hope I didn't miss anything but I plan on addressing any issues tomorrow/Sunday if any come up! I do also encourage you to participate in beta testing via Telegram, especially with all the custom ROMs.

What's not working?
I flashed just a while back on Carbon and it seems ok.
There seems to be some issue with the alert slider and pocket mode, but otherwise seems quite smooth.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!
Flashing Instructions:
- Flash Dirty Unicorns ROM zip
- Flash the audio fix zip
- Flash RIL fix zip if GT-I9300I (dual sim) user
- Flash magisk zip (You need root to tweak kernel settings)
Use micoG if you can. If you cant live without the whole Google fam try to stay with Pico GApps
- Done. Reboot. Wait for 10 mins or so and it will boot up. Finish the setup.
- Flash the camfix if camera is not working
ROM Setup:
After completing the first boot, download Kernel Adiutor and set the following (Needs root)
CPU Governor: ondemand
Hotplug: By default maybe MPDecision and MSMHotplug may be enabled, Use one of them.
If 2 Hotplugs are enabled simultaneously it may cause crashes or reboots.
Apply on boot.
And for file manager and music player, use any app you like from play market.

How To Make Sure Everything Will Work Smooth?
* Go to: Settings -> About phone and note down the Baseband version (eg: I9300IXXUBPF2)
* Now in your browser open https://samsung-firmware.org and search this baseband version in the keywords. It will show up your firmware in search results. Open it.
* There will be tab named 'Region' in the box (eg: XSG), click it. This will list all the firmware updates available for your region. See if you have the latest update available on your phone by verifying the Baseband version on your phone and the Modem/CP version of the firmware. If not download the latest update and update your stock rom by following the instructions given on the page. This is so that you will have the latest bootloader. Users have reported they had to flash the stock rom via odin 2-3 times to update the bootloader.
* Now lets flash twrp. Go to https://twrp.me/ and search for s3 neo in 'devices' tab. TWRP is same for i9300I and I9301I. Folow the instructions and install TWRP recovery on your device (odin method). Disable auto reboot in odin while flashing recovery and reboot to recovery manually after flashing recovery successfully (long press power button + vol up button). Go to twrp, grant the permissions and take a backup of your stock rom (system) and EFS partition.
Important: Always keep a backup of EFS safely.
Now you are all set to flash custom roms.
************************************************
Now to tweak the kernel settings, Dowload kernel auditor app from play store, open it and grant Root access (always)
This is my settings:
CPU: CPU Governor- ondemand , Multicore Power Saving- Enabled
CPU Hotplug: MPDecision
GPU: Maxm Freq: 320MHz , GPU Governor: simple ondemand
(enable all the settings to apply on Boot)

6) Substratum and theming?
A: DU has full OMS support, so you can apply custom overlays and themes.
Note: Some incompatible themes can cause crashes and force closes, so know what you are doing.
7) Mobile Data in second sim?
A: It never worked properly for I9300I. So use your data sim in slot 1.
8) How to support the development of this project?
A: Read this and try to donate.

11) RIL is not working. what to do?
A: RIL is working fine. for I9300I, flash the RIL fix. If its still not working, follow the instructions above in 1st reserved post.
12) Can i flash any custom kernels?
A: I won't recommend that. If you do, remember it's your choice
13) What about battery life?
A: Its good. If you are a balanced user you should get a screen on time of 3.5 to 4 hrs. On conservative settings you will get upto 4.5 hrs+
14) This feature is not working. Help pls.
A: Report a bug with all the details. Your device model, all the packages flashed, kernel used, nature of bug, rom version, any custom mods flashed?, and attach a logcat if possible.
15) Edit quick tiles is not working.
A: Thats because you are lazy and didn't flash the camfix on a sony sensor device
16) Audio not working?

Use the rom, if you face performance issues, heating, reboots or stuff, do the kernel setup. But if you can, do it at the beginning.
Thanks, is it possible to solve my reboots in carbon also with this kernel settings?

Your choice. That was a suggestion to improve user experience.
Disabled screen hardware buttons bug was present after install without delete internal storage(caches and system was deleted before install (modell 9301 samsung cam))
THIS IS MY ROM!!!,at least up to oreo....,I think it's the best, thanks kikivivi.
I tried it, looks good but unfortunly reboots as like in carbon. Later i try it with the kernel settings.
I now set the kernel settings, looks gold at the Moment, but another problem. I've a widget called custom switches, when i reboot the phone the widget is deleted and i must set it again.
my phone is italian,(itv),but I installed the ksa firmware, maybe that's why everything works,no reboot,no lags, but I had to install the fix camera, because the ksa has sony sensors, I have samsung.
Have you set kernel settings ?

ABOUT:
This is my personal kernel project, which I looked to be a stable kernel for daily usage, with useful features only, and to have a half term under performance and battery life for Xiaomi msm8996 devices. Inspired by projects like Flash Kernel and ElementalX Kernel
"While I am not a super star kernel developer, I do know my way around it." (Chancellor, Nathan - 2017)
PROJECT GOALS:
Keep kernel up-to-date with lastest stable Linux Kernel version (3.18.123)
Offer the user the best balance between battery life and performance
Just useful features. Features may be included only as needed (Read FAQ section to know the features that I won't add in anyway)
FEATURES:
Here are the major features of the kernel (More details on the Github repo)
Up-to-date with the latest stable Linux Kernel version (3.18.133)
Mainline Linux patches for CFQ
Several subsystems converted to use power efficient workqueues
Hides bootloader unlock from SafetyNet (can still fail through other means)
Available to flash with AnyKernel2 (thanks to @osm0sis)
Users facing features:
KCAL color control
USB Fastcharge
Adreno Idler
Boeffla Wakelock Blocker

F.A.Q:
Q: Are you Planning to support MIUI?
1. A: No.
Q: Could you include feature x,y and z in your kernel please?
2. A: If you link me the commits or tell me what kernel you had the feature in, I can take a look at them. I won't promise that I will merge every request but I will always take it into consideration. I will NOT add:
Overclock or underclock of the CPU and GPU (Except for the cases that the device has a underclock on both or in just one, then it'll be considered)
Undervolt
Any other governors except the "kernel stock" ones
Any feature that just one or two people is going to use
Q: I'm having an issue, can you help me?
3. A: I'm not an amazing kernel developer but I will certainly try my best. First, start by reading the release posts, as I may make note of a particular issue. Also search the thread to see if I have discussed it before. If you see nothing, please provide me with a dmesg/last_kmsg and logcat, your ROM/kernel version, and a detailed description of the issue. If I can't reproduce reliably, I'm not going to fix the issue. (Extracted from Nathan Chancellor's Flash Kernel Thread)
Q: The kernel is f*cking up my battery! Plz...
4. A: Stop right there. The Kernel doesn't drain any battery, use an app like BetterBatteryStats to figure out what app is screwing with your phone. If verified the clocks are always online and on the max clock, then it'll checked out what's happen. Anyway logs are necessary.
THANKS TO:
@nathanchance

@franciscofranco
@LuK1337 and Mi5Devs
@xNombre
Any other developer that I might forgot
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
ABOUT KERNEL USAGE IN OTHER ROMS THAT ARE NOT MINE:
You are free to use the kernel if you want. The only thing that I'll request to do it's to keep the kernel name. If you have modified something, just add a "-Mod" in the final of the kernel name or anything that states that the kernel has been modified, not by me, but by ROM maintainer.

Hello everyone, this is my personal kernel for the OnePlus 5. While I am not a super star kernel developer, I do know my way around it. Hopefully you enjoy :highfive:
NOTE: This list fluctuates with versions, it will not always been 100% up to date
Here are the major features of the kernel (feel free to explore Github)
Based on GzR kernel
Up to date with the latest stable Linux version (4.4.159)
Up to date with the latest CAF branch (kernel.lnx.4.4.r27-rel)
Mainline patches from Linux, focusing on bug fixes/security
Mainline CFQ scheduler improvements
Several subsystems converted to use power efficient workqueues
Backlight dimmer
KCAL color control
CPU Input Boost driver
Devfreq Boost driver
Sound control
Wakelock control
Westwood as the default TCP algorithm
Built with the latest Google Clang 7.0.2 toolchain
Hides bootloader unlock from SafetyNet (can still fail through other means)
Disables dm-verity
Does NOT modify decryption status
Flashed with AnyKernel2 (thanks to @osm0sis)
Primary: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=283181
Through TWRP:
If you are on a custom ROM:
If you are on the kernel that came with your ROM: flash the kernel zip and reboot
If you are on a custom kernel: dirty flash your ROM zip, flash the kernel zip, and reboot
Upgrading from one Reaper version to the other:
Just flash the kernel zip and reboot
1.1 Q: I am having an issue, can you help me?
1.1 A: I am not an amazing kernel developer but I will certainly try my best. First, start by reading the release posts, as I may make note of a particular issue. Also search the thread to see if I have discussed it before. If you see nothing, please provide me with a dmesg/last_kmsg and logcat, your ROM/kernel version, and a detailed description of the issue, following this guide. If I can't reproduce reliably, I'm not going to fix the issue.
1.2 Q: What ROMs are compatible with the custom builds?
1.2 A: My daily driver is GZOSP so I test all the builds on this ROM but this kernel should work on other pie ROMs. If you are using a ROM with no issues, let me know and I'll add it here! If you are having issues, following the above steps and I'll attempt to fix whatever incompatibility there is. If I can't do it without breaking GZOSP compatibility, you're out of luck.
To control the user visible features of the kernel listed above, I recommend using @flar2's EX Kernel Manager.
1.5 Q: OMFG MY BATTERY SUXXXX PLS FIX!!!
1.5 A: The kernel doesn't drain any battery, use an app like BetterBatteryStats to figure out what app is screwing with your phone.

Tried... Not much of different... But this is fast smooth and very battery friendly... Exactly for battery this is a monster... All kernels are good... Tried even arter97, radioactiv, smurf, ex... Etc... Now staying with this
If I'm on oos 9.0.5 with xXx and Renovation rom with stock kernel all I have to do is flash this kernel zip right? No need to flash the boot image?

Yes... BUT FLASH MAGISK AND THEN KERNEL... THAT IS CRITICAL TO FLASH MAGISK BEFORE KERNEL... AND ALWAYS

Oh... Maybe this is exactly for stable oos? Idk... What version of magisk did you flashed?and what kind of error did you get? Bootloop or maybe Qualcomm crashdump? Or it is rebooting to recovery?
Kernel is pretty smooth but on the balanced profile the big core is at least 25%-30% on the top frequency just when browsing net or chatting WhatsApp. Normally smurf and holydragon doesn't act like this on balanced profile
