Absolute Bluetooth Volume? - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hi, I just recently acquired the Mi6 after 2 years with an iPhone and I'm just glad I went back to Android. But after trying the ROM that the phone came with and Xiaomi.eu ROM I can't control the volume of bluetooth devices like iPhones do. After a short search on google it seems it has to do with the AD2P bluetooth protocol and I can't seem to find a solution. I have come across several apps that set the volume level, like profiles for any given bluetooth device but it's not what I need, the thing is if I want to change the volume I would need to set the full volume on speaker everytime I use it, which is kind of annoying. I tried disbaling the "Absolute Volume" option in the Developer Setting on both ROMs but neither worked. So I came here looking for suggestions.

apparently we are the only 2 people on earth who care about this. unfortunately i have no answer for you and am still struggling with this on my s7edge. i do find it funny that there are far more threads about people having issues DISABLING absoulte volume control when it's already not working and is disabled lol.

I've been trying to find a solution for about 3 years now without any success on the MIUI ROM. Other custom ROMs do not have this issue and the media and Bluetooth volume is linked. So I guess the only solution right now is a custom ROM.

Connect, change device name to start with ABS-DO-ENABLE, don't play anything, reboot everything, connect, done

[Q] Wired Headset Mode not exiting, can you relate?

Ok so it's been a while I didn't use my phone with a wired headset, but some time ago I would always use it to listen to music on my daily commute. Lately I started using it again. I've always used it with some Soul SL99 for music and calls with no problems.
But since 2 days ago I noticed it stays on headset mode even after disconnecting the headphones. when I make a call the built in mic and speaker don't work and the proximity sensor disabled. I can use it on speaker with no problem, and if I connect the headset people don't here me clearly. I have to restart the phone to exit headset mode on it, but whenever I connect my headphones it'll stay in headset mode no matter what until I restart it again.
Only weird thing I've done is try out different audio mods, like AwesomeBeats, Ac1d audio and Noozxoide. So I can't tell if it's damaged hardware or software. I've tried full wiping my rom, I've tried 3 different Roms including going back to 4.1 and on every single rom it does the same thing.
So basically my question is, could it be software driver related? Or most likely hardware? If software, would there be a fix? And if hardware, what piece would it be, the loud speaker/headphone module, or the headphone flex cable?
Has anyone experienced this before?
I have no experience with it, but maybe this will fixed in the next update to fix Bluetooth streaming.
Can you try cm10 stable or another 4.2 rom and see if that helps

I did, I tried AOKP latest build, XenonHD, CNA 3.8.0, and some others. Still does the same thing. Hopefully it is software and I won't have to buy replacement parts.

Still no one can help?
I've bought a Nexus some days ago and it already came with 4.2.1. I have just added root and CWM.
Yesterday I tried for the first time to connect it to my car's bluetooth handsfree kit. I activated Btooth, but I've not found any way to make the phone visible. Tapping on the phrase "your phone is not visible" did nothing. It was searching for devices but found nothing. Later at home I've found on google forums many people that have problems with bluetooth on 4.2.1. I also found that in some situation it is impossible to turn it off, and it does not work correctly. I have found this advice:
Go in settings - applications. swipe to the right last page "ALL". Search for bluetooth pairing app. Click on it and terminate it. Maybe you have to tap twice. Now your BT is off. Now go in application again (or use your favorite widget, like widgetsoid) and turn BT on again. Now it should work (for some time, only !!) This way I was able to pair Nexus with handsfree and also I've made some calls.
From forums, it seems a software bug. Found in other phones also, not only on Nexus.
Cheers

[Q] KitKat bluetooth volume

OK so I used the search on here and googled this to no avail... I'm currently on slimkat 4.4 for the flo but I've also experienced this on 4.4 on my d2vzw... When I use my Bluetooth headphones to listen to music or watch a movie the volume is either extremely loud or too low... There seems to be no comfortable middle ground... I was wondering if there was a way to edit the build prop or a 3rd party apk I could use to fix this... I've tried to mess with DSP manager but I can't seem to aquire the volume level I desire... Maybe this will get ironed out with time... Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated...
I was having this same problem that I posted a few posts down from yours. The volume on the lowest setting was extremely loud. I put paranoid Android back on and now it's back to normal. I haven't found anything that fixes this yet so will stick with 4.3 til they fix it since I use my headphones often.

It is Kit Kat issue on all devices that use the default Google Bluedroid Bluetooth stack, meaning Nexus devices and Google Play versions (other devices running a modified stack may not be affected).
Supposedly, it is an extension to Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 that enables Bluetooth audio devices to directly control Android's system volume. It seems some genius thought two independent volume levels (headphone volume and handset bluetooth level) was too confusing for folks. Clearly they did not think about (or test) that some Bluetooth audio devices with their own volume controls might default to a very high or low level, and control of only the handset's bluetooth level would not provide sufficient range of adjustment.
So once again we have Goofle googing up bluetooth in Android. Please share your disappointment in the following threads so that we might see a fix ASAP. Guessing they are facing law suits for hearing damage if it is not addressed quickly.

Workaround for playing music is, Play Music > Options (3 dots thing on the top right) > Settings > Equalizer > On, then put everything to the bottom. Still kinda loud, but at least it won't bust my ears.
My issue was with movies not play music. I flashed a different rom and it works fine now anyways hehe

Problems With inline remote controls

Hey guys, have a very specific problem on my hands. I use my 1more triple drivers with this phone, sound is great, but unfortunately my "lower volume" button doesn't work. The center and "increase volume" button work just fine, and the headset should be compatible. The 1more controls work fine on other phones, and other headphone remotes work my HTC, so it isn't faulty hardware.
I browsed for a bit, and this seems to be a problem for everyone using this combination, although no one had a proper solution.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Perhaps change a value of some kind, flash a different kernel or something?
Same problem
I have a similar problem, I have these Samsung earbuds that have a volume rocker and play/pause button. I'm using and htc one a9 and when I press either the volume up or down, it turns down. The play/pause button works though, sorry I don't have a solution, but hopefully it makes this post a little more popular to gain support, if you find a solution for your problem, tell me, because the the solution is most likely related to my problem too. Good luck, I will be searching for a solution myself and will update you on a solution if I find one
This is a problem specifically with the gold ones. The only fix is to exchange it for the silver titanium ones.
Kinda forgot about this post, thought I'd give an update though. Contacted 1MORE, unfortunately they can't exchange my triple drivers due to the fact that i've owned them for almost a year(technically still within warranty, can't blame them though). As of now, I've been using an app named "Headset Button Controller" off the play store which allows you to assign certain actions to multiple presses of the headset buttons, allowing me to substitute the volume down button. Will get around to flashing a couple of roms in a while, might get lucky and it ends up working.

Question No way to sync bluetooth volume with headphones??

Am I going mad here? I have searched and searched and cannot see anywhere the option to sync the blutooth volume between the phone and headphones.
On Huawei/Honor phones previously it was in the settings for the attached headphones but is nowhere to be seen now, nor is there the bluetooth absolute option anymore in developer settings.
Seems a massive step back if this is no longer available.

Posted this elsewhere but in the wrong forum maybe.....
