K5, A6020l36, Lineage OS 14.1 unrooted, Can't access TWRP, Help! - Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Questions & Answers

*Noob*
Lenovo K5, A6020l36, running Lineage OS 14.1 unrooted, can no longer access TWRP boot loader, how do I root the phone and access TWRP without being able to access TWRP? Thanks in advance.
BTW... ADB sees the device via my Mac for what that's worth.

[DEVICE IN BOOTLOADER] [ADB VIA PROMPT IN PC]
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Inside TWRP, go to Install > Image File > twrp.img
DONE.
(twrp.img has to be in your PC, from where you are running ADB, and in your device too.)
You could also:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
and try to see if your recovery is fixed.

Reinstall your adb/fastboot and device drivers. If you can run it in a Linux PC, it would be better. This is a common issue.
(Oh, and don't forget to enable USB debugging in Developer settings on your device, that's super important).

I would suggest :
Shutdown your device
Reboot to fastboot mode via "Power" + "Volume -" for a few seconds until you reboot and see a Lenovo blank screen with "Power key long press can reboot the phone" at the bottom
Plug your device to your computer
Test fastboot via "fastboot devices" on your computer (you should see a number)
Flash TWRP via "fastboot flash recovery <the TWRP file on your computer>"
Reboot to TWRP by holding "Power" + "Volume +" and select "recovery" on the menu that will appear
Hope it will work for you

LG G4 H815 frozen on LG logo after attempting root/TWRP

Attempted to root phone use ADB and fastboot.
during process noticed difficulty in getting recovery mode open manually and had to use adb reboot recovery, whereupon android recovery picture was there but no menu options.
Could not install TWRP conventionally thus attempted the method shown here.
"NSTALL TWRP
Make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed.
I always put TWRP.img in the ADB folder - so if I want to boot into TWRP with out installing it this is what I do:
make sure you open a command prompt in the ADB folder "VERY IMPORTANT" and type:
adb reboot bootloader <enter>
fastboot boot TWRP.img <whatever your TWRP image is called in your ADB folder><enter> dont forget the .img at the end
That will re-start your phone straight into TWRP - You can transfer files to and from your computer while in recovery.
If you want to install TWRP permanently, copy your TWRP image to your mobile "while you are in TWRP RECOVERY mode" then press install, then select images, then select recovery NOT BOOT, then swipe to flash. This method does not install TWRP app on your phone, all you need is a reboot app from the play store that will re-boot you into recovery. "
Flashed both twrp image and super-su within the TWRP booted from pc through adb (as shown in the previously mentioned method).
Upon reboot phone has hung at LG symbol. LED is flashing. ADB recognises device as connected however won't respond to reboot requests.
How do i fix this?

Did you hold the volume down button + power button to get to recovery mode manually right after flashing?
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003 mit Tapatalk
If you have successfully unlocked the bootloader, you'll get a bootloader unlocked warning every time you boot. On the warning screen, click either of the volume buttons and you'll be redirected to a bootup menu. From there, you can select "boot to recovery" using the volume rocker and power button.
Alternatively, enable "advanced reboot" in developer options and reboot to recovery from the main OS power menu.
If these don't work, reflash TWRP using fastboot. Make sure that you're using at least version 3.0.3-1, best to use 3.0.4-1.
Tried manually reboot into recovery but it just reboots,
I can sucessfully unlock as i have the warning on boot, but there if i go to the menu and press for recovery it just reboots, tried several tipes of recovery TWRP imgs
Any help greatly wanted
Download this version of TWRP (jcadduono's 4.0.3-1). Rename the file to something like twrp.img.
1) Make sure adb/fastboot is working on your computer (if you've already unlocked the bootloader, then I am assuming it is).
2) Put your phone into fastboot mode and connect it to your computer. Open a command prompt where you can access fastboot.
3) Put the twrp.img file to the same folder where you opened your command prompt.
3) Enter
Code:
fastboot devices
in fastboot and make sure your phone shows up with its serial number.
4) Enter
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
to erase your current recovery
5) Enter
Code:
fastboot flash recovery [B]twrp.img[/B]
, where twrp.img is whatever you named your twrp file.
6) Enter
Code:
fastboot reboot
to reboot into your main system. You can either reboot then use advanced startup to enter recovery, or press a volume button at the bootloader warning page to boot directly to recovery.

Sometimes it helps to use fastboot to boot the image directly after you flash it. This ensures you get into recovery since it loads it off your computer.
It should then work normally afterwards

problem with fastboot twrp flashing

my device came with unlocked bootloader, so I tried to flash twrp but every time i type "fastboot flash recovery C:\adb\twrp-3.2.1-3-whyred.img" and hit enter, the device seems to disconnect from pc and there is "press any key to reboot" in fastboot on my phone.
How can I solve this issue?`
Phone gets detected by adb/fastboot tool so its not a driver problem. I tried different cables and usb ports aswell.
Firmware is latest global stable.

Well if you already had adb in your pc, rename the twrp file to recovery, you don't have to move the twrp from download folder, open download folder press shift and right click then select open cmd here, on cmd type "adb device" to see if your device connected, then after that type this "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" press enter than after that type "fastboot boot recovery.img" TEAMWIN logo should appear on your device and then you can unplug your device. Hope this useful
i am trying to flash twrp there is no folder called adb i have installed the 15 second adb and all so i have got this minimal adb flashboot and i tried with that and got this ---- FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State). i have granted all usb and oem unlocking. please help with this
Phone shows unlocked during the boot?
I had the same Problem, after a Factory Reset works for me.
I am on Miglobe-Rom Miui10 8.6.28.
Minimal ADB is enough.
Or use this from Attachment.
Unpack with Win.zip and copy Twrp in this Folder.
Conect the Phone with your Pc ,boot into Bootloader and click "cmd-here.exe"
Use this Command
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-3-whyred.img
@Nazukii - Quick question - any chance you could try running GameBench on your device, and see if our background service dies when the device is disconnected from the PC? I don't have a Note 5 Pro to test, and I've got some user complaints. Any assistance would be awesome!

Can anyone please help me here not sure how to proceed further.
If you have made sure that you have all the drivers installed and still have not solved, you need to use an Intel-based PC / notebook and use a usb 2.0.

Insufficient info.
Are you able to boot up? Are you able to boot to bootloader? Do you have TWRP and are you able to boot to it?
Is your bootloader unlocked? Are you rooted? Is USB debugging enabled?
Does "adb devices" / "fastboot devices" command find your phone? What ROM?

sorry ,
I think I am able to boot to the bootloader (but I cannot see it since my screen is broken)
my bootloader is unlocked , device is rooted and USB debugging is enabled
while pressing Power+Vol UP I can get into fast boot and see my device on fastboot devices
anything else I need?
To clear things up, TWRP is recovery and not bootloader. Fastboot is bootloader.
So, if you can boot into TWRP, you should be able to use adb commands. Try booting into it, then try "adb devices" and see if it's properly detected (adb reports device's serial number and status "recovery"). You can then use "adb pull" command to get your data.

Ok, an alternative then:
- download latest TWRP .img file to your PC
- open command window in folder with the file (Shift + right click > open command window here)
- boot into fastboot (Power + Vol Down) - you said you managed that before - and connect the device to PC. If it's properly detected in fastboot, you can boot custom recovery with "fastboot boot <recovery-name>.img"
Phone should now restart and boot into previously downloaded recovery. Now you can try and see if adb works.
Easier option would be simply "fastboot reboot recovery", but that command is non-standard and doesn't work on OP3 if I remember correctly. You can try though, nothing to lose.

That worked for me , Thanks!!

No OS is installed. Moreover recovery cannot be accessed. Nor can flash it via adb.

Previously I was using Ressurection Remix treble rom which is based on android 9 pie. I went to TWRP and wiped the OS. Then I tried to install a new rom called Dot OS. But it showed error 7. So I flashed Vendortofactory zip within twrp and without rebooting again into TWRP I flashed a new TWRP image within TWRP by selecting Recovery mode. After that I cant boot into TWRP and as already my OS is gone I also cannot boot into any system. Moreover my device is not getting detected in my PC. I cannot install TWRP by writing commands in cmd, while the phone is in fastboot mode as the device is not getting detected in my pc. Really it is urgent. I will be glad if someone helps me. Thanks in advance.
What is the present booted state of your device? Are you in twrp, or bootloader. Most of the time you can keep on pressing the power button. When it boots into a message about unlocked bootloader, press volume button to select recovery and it will boot into twrp
You should be able to boot in fastboot mode without recovery nor os, maybe your drivers are not working on windows? Try different usb ports, check if the display says "bootloader" or something. If nothing works try the usb shunt, this device is literally 'unbrickable' if it's working properly.
Watch this video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DexLELi04XY) and then you will be able to detect your phone in your pc in qcom 9008 mode , then use qfil to flash ZUI firmware ,there are plenty of tutorials on the internet for that ,then follow the proper procedure mentioned in DotOs thread for flashing the new rom .
Hope it helped .
If you don't want to flash the firmware and all long process just follow the following steps
Enter in to the boot loader make sure you installed all the drivers in to pc then open cmd windows in adb fastboot folder and enters the following cmd into the cmd
Fastboot -i 0x2b4c devices this will detect your device
After that enter
Fastboot -i0x2b4c flash recovery recovery name.img
And boom you are good to go flash the rom of your choice and enjoy
For this process you need following files
Adb and fastboot devices
Drivers of zuk z2
Latest recovery and place revovery image file into the adb and fastboot folder if you are confused about anything pm me i am not the expert but i faced simillar problem and solved by this method

This assumes u have upgraded bootloader to 4.4 kernal.
U can still boot into twrp.. When the phone is booting up press vol up key and select recovery.. From there boot into twrp. There select f2v or v2f .. Then flash twrp which u want to flash.. Reboot to recovery.. U will get promp no os installed.. Ignore and reboot to recovery . Then again d9 f2v or v2f depending on what rom to install.. Again reboot to recovery... Then flash rom of ur choice.
This procedure is needed when changing from vendor to factory and vice versa.
