Google Daydream? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

Anyone got Google Daydream working? I tried the guide https://www.vrheads.com/how-manually-enable-daydream-phones-google-has-not-approved but when it says put your phone in your daydream it crashes. It says "Locate Root Permissions" but i cant find that in my handheld_core_hardware.xml.

[Q] Rooted XS not working with Android Device Manager

I have an XS running 6.2.B.1.96, rooted with DoomLord's technique. It has latest Google Play Services.
I'm trying to get the phone to play ball with Google's Android Device Manager. It appears in the list of devices, but ADM gives "Location unavailable" when I try to locate it, and it does not respond to commands to lock or ring the device etc.
ADM is enabled as a Device Administrator in the security setttings, I've cleared the Google Play Services data as per the help pages, but no joy so far.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it?

Google Now/Now on Tap not working

So I am from one of those countries where Google Now/Now on Tap is not supported by Google. But I still want to enable it anyway...Need HELP.
It says 'This account is not eligible to use google now'. I have tried all the fix available on the internet but failed. Those are specially not working because they are for lollipop or for previous versions of Android; not for Marshmallow.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP??
BTW, I am looking for both Rooted/non-Rooted methods..
Have you tried xposed framework? I saw that it's available for Marshmallow. It's what I used on my N4 to activate some US-only features because I had my system set to German.

No, I haven't. But I guess that would be a worthy try.. Okay, let's just say it's an option but before Rooting, I wanna try any other possible way.. Thanks..
So it's functional for all of you guys living outside the 'supporting countries'?
I was hoping there must be a way without Rooting... I want to use Google Now, please HELP!!!

Thanks but nothing worked.. It says 'This account is not eligible to use google now'.
I have tried to access US google play store through VPN but it didn't work. And Market Unlocker may work but it requires Root, which I don't want to do this early..
I was searching for a way to get past this too. Finally stumbled upon one after hours of messing around. Worked for me, hope it works for you too.
1. First download hotspot shield or any other vpn app from the playstore.
2. Disable google play services and sign out from your google account.
3. In Settings, go to location and choose "device only".
4. Download google play services from your browser.
5. Start hotspot shield and change location to America or any place where google now is available.
6. Install google play services that you've downloaded via your web browser (Please note that you have to allow installation of apps from unknown sources which can be done in security)
7. Sign in to your google account. You should be able to activate google now under Settings > Now Cards.
8. Once activated, uninstall google play services update that you've installed or disable it again and re-enable it. (If you are able to download apps from the playstore, then you can skip steps 8 to 11)
9. Turn off hotspot shield.
10. Go to apps, search for google playstore and clear data and cache.
11. Now go to google now and select update google play services.
Google Now should work now.

No ROOT is required here in this method, right?

Nope. No root required
NOPE. It didn't work.. When turning on Now Cards, it is disabled and says 'not available in your country'.
Seems Hotspot Shield didn't work. Probably Rooting and trying would be only option..
FINALLY, this works for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-enable-google-cards-country-t3102472

Google Play on Gen 1 Fire TV

I had Google Play on my device when it was on version 3. Now that I'm on the latest version 5 software I went through the tutorial on AFTVnews and all seemed to work. My only problem is when I go to the app it gives "authentication required" error. I can see that it shows my account name in Play Accounts (or whatever it's called as I'm not in front of my machine at the moment), but I know since the version 3 days I have changed my password. So I'm assuming it's hung up. I can't find anywhere to reset it or a workaround. I see where someone asked here with no answer. Could use some help please. Thanks.

[Q] Downgrade Gmail and home button question

Got a new Redmi 7. Updated with latest OTA.
1: I want to install an older Gmail version. I used the Java application on the Reddit Xaiomi wiki to remove the Gmail that came with the phone, and it indeed is off the pone. But the old APK I have won't install. It asks me if I want to install the package, I tap install, it does it's thing, then says "App not installed". I even tried the "Stream" install method of "cat gmail.apk : pm install -S size", with USB installing turned on, and get the prompt on the phone to install the app, but it always fails. Anyway to downgrade gmail without root? Is there a temp su that can be run to remove the new APK?
2: I disabled the Google assistant everywhere I could find but the home button animation still happens. it had the circle around the dot, and when pressed you get the dumb little colored dots animation. It doesn't launch anything but is annoying. Any way to get rid of those?
Thanks for any help
Why not just install an older version of gmail, download it from Apkmirror or something

I did. It won't install. It goes through the process then says "App Not Installed". Another wonderful Google non informative error message.
You can't downgrade apps unless rooted.
Uninstall the Gmail app first with XiaomiADBFastbootTools,it only use ADB.I don't have the link rn,but you can easily search it.

Subway Surfers

Hi,
I have Firestick 4K 2019 version, would it be possible to run subway surfers.
KIndly help.
Note: I dont have google play store installed on firestick yet. I request a solution without google play store.
Thanks,
If you have it installed on your phone, you can sideload it using apps2fire. Go in the fire TV settings, select "my fire tv", then go in "developers option" and finally, enable both options there, allow ADB and installing apps from unknown sources. Go in the apps2fire app, go to the "install" tab (the last one) then search for your device. Go back to the first tab, find the app you want to install, select it, then tap install. I can't guarantee that the app will work, as I don't think it's even in the android tv play store, and the app is made for screens in portrait mode. If it works some menus will probably only accept touch input, though you can sidestep that by using a Bluetooth mouse.
Thanks, I will try this and let you know if it works.
I am able to install the application but it didnt launch, I can notice that it is trying to change orientation.
Then installed set orientation apk and but the firestick in portratit mode , still no luck.
Anything else you suggest ?
Thanks for your suggestion
