will Verizon visual voicemail app work? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

For me, VVM is a must.
Will we able to use the Verizon visual voicemail app on this phone? Or should I plan on switching over to Google Voice?
I pay 3 bucks a month for Verizon visual voicemail, and honestly it's been great on my moto x pure.

Why dont you ask Verizon ?

I was told by 2 Verizon employees that all features will work. Visual voicemail, wifi calling, tethering, etc is a function of your plan is what they said

Because they are useless?

On Pixel XL 1, built-in VVM works great and is free.
Is there some additional feature that makes the paid VVM a must for you?

The Verizon Visual Voicemail feature routes to the phone app on the current Pixel. You can't even download the VVM app separately as it automatically has a place to go. Same as the iPhone. I can almost guarantee that the same will be true of the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL.

I have Verizon. In the dialer app, the tab on the far right is for visual voicemail. It does not provide a text transcript though, in case that's the feature you needed.

Yeah, I definitely want text translation... I'm hoping the 2.99 a month I pay will get me that on pixel2

[Q] Stock-like Handcent alternative?

I've been using Handcent for quite a while now, but I've decided to go back to stock. I just like the look of stock a lot more than Handcent, and I don't need nearly all the features that Handcent offers. Unfortunately, stock SMS doesn't have a signature option. I'm on Verizon as well, so I have to have an app that has the "SMS Split" option as well. If it matters, I'm using CM9 RC2 for the R800x. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Looking for SMS Split and Signature features?
You should have slashed other choices and picked GO SMS Pro right from the beginning.

I've used it. I'm not a fan. I'm just looking for an edited/rewritten stock SMS app.

I'm speaking to somebody who made a version of stock that had the SMS splitting feature for Verizon. Well, not speaking, I just messaged them for the first time.

[APP] Sprint Visual Voicemail vT.5.3.4.42 5/5/14

Sorry for the lack of updates!
Here's the latest Sprint Visual Voicemail. I haven't played with it much, but this version has some premium features enabled if you don't mind some advertising. I have mine disabled
Enjoy!
Thank you
Did not work as I thought it would have, I used it for a week and then disabled the app, followed with uninstalling it.

Phone Call Recordings

Has this been achieved..attempted.. yet? I tried some of the apps in the PlayStore w/ no success. Would love to see this soon. I used this feature that was baked into KifKiatKiller by Josh Beach (sure miss that guy on Sprint) on the Note 3.
Wanam through xposed does it

I too was sad to see that Josh is skipping the Note 4 and done with Sprint anyway back to the topic at hand I use Call Recorder PRO always have and always will it records both incoming and outgoing calls and it can save to SD card or internal memory. Some have used Dr. Kevan auto call record. I am rooted it makes no difference with Call Recorder PRO the free version records up to 45 seconds or so Pro unlimited records FWIW

Any way to remove the "tips" that appears on the dialpad?

Same here, don't know how to remove it
I submitted a bug report to OnePlus at the same time I posted the thread here. Hopefully they will answer.
So, only one other person has this problem?
I have the tips as well

I'll try it. I've already replaced Contacts, Messenger and Gallery apps. So might as well replace this one as well.
But then again, I don't want to root or install TWRP just yet either.
It's on mine. It will not go.

I just installed the Google Dialer from the OnePlus 5 and after running the Play Store update and theming it with Swift Black it's so much better than the OnePlus dialer.
I also added Google Duo for video calls.

If you get a moment, can you please check some things for me ? Do you still have the visual voicemail tab in dialer? Also, when you get a call is the One Plus buttons or Google's.
Thanks

Yah vvm is a big gap unfortunately.. had to rollback to oneplus dialer.
Oddly enough sometimes I can get to GDialer VVM by hitting the notification, but only at random times.

I am on TMobile and have vvm in Google dialer. I had to install the Google dialer as a system app to get it to work. I also uninstalled the stock dialer. Not sure if that matters. And I changed the flags to true in the dialer_phenotype_flags.xml for voicemaill.

Are you sure you getting new vms? Initially it does show the tab and shows existing vms, but doesn't get new vms.
Also, what setting is this and where to change this? I am on Verizon and rooted too.

Here is the xml file. Unzip it and copy it to /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/shared_prefs
It has the flags set for vvm and call screening. Call screening doesn't work properly though. The caller can't hear the Google ai. Still trying to figure that out.
And yes, new voice mails show up and get transcribed. And I'm on T-Mobile, not Verizon.

Easiest way if you are using magisk is to download the app systemizer through magisk manager downloads and do it that way.

another HTC guy in the fold, you on verizon?
If Spam Caller ID doesn't work, what's the point in using this instead of stock dialer? It's an honest question, I'd like to understand what advantages I'm missing. My previous phone was a Nexus 6P and I used and appreciated Spam Caller ID.
