Random Shut Downs & Boot Loops - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me with my current conundrum.
As of late, my phone seems to randomly shut down and will end up boot looping and will continue to do so until I plug it in to charge. My most recent one was when it shut down at 51% percent and just boot looped. When it powered on after I plugged it in the charger, it had 10% battery life left.
Is there any way I can fix this situation? It happens on every ROM I flash along with the kernel.

I have exactly the same problem on a locked unrooted HTC 10. I thought first this was a battery problem (my battery is dead and lasts less than an hour) but I think this is related to the last update to 2.41.708.31. The shut down also affects certain apps : settings and login information seem to be wiped out by the shutdown.

Same problem here (stock/unrooted). Started to get problems shortly after the July security patch update.
Phone often crashes when battery falls below 40% - it then bootloops or won't switch on until charger is plugged in.
Tried the old trick of holding volume up and down + power button for a few minutes, in an attempt to reset the battery. The battery fell from 100% to 70%, charged it back up to 100% but still experiencing the same problems. A
Next step will be to try a factory reset but I suspect it'll do nothing to help.

If factory reset does not work, you could S-0ff the phone and take it back one or two RUU versions to a stable one.

Same exact problem here.
Lately the battery life is awful, started to think that battery has deteriorated, however the phone suddenly boot loops and switches on only after plugged in, and same thing happens even in 30-40%. Battery percentage calibration seems WAY OFF lately.

Same issue here, I thought it was a defect in the charging circuit. Better stop my colleague now, before he tries to open my phone...

It was completely dead before.

I've had the same issue, battery running down in the space of 2-3 hours of light-moderate use, and bootlooping when attempting to power back on. I've found that if you go into recovery mode you can at least get it to boot up again without plugging into charger, but the last time I tried it my battery had said like 50% when the phone crashed and 15% when it booted again. I was starting to think maybe battery gone bad, too. Thinking about maybe going to a 3rd-party ROM to see if the behavior stays or if it gets any better.

Mine does the same. I tried wiping it and starting again - but given up on it and put it in drawer. Now using my wifes old S6.
Would like to know if this is hardware or software to see if it can be resurrected.

We have 2 HTC 10s at our house. Same issue. Sounds like software based on this thread.
GPS in Android auto is garbage now as well. This is all recent and it impacts both phones.
USA unlocked.

I hope guys you can help me, I've the same problem, and I want to convert my HTC 10 (stock international version) to US unlocked, it been years since I modified any android phone (I destroyed my last one) and I'm afraid to do the same to my HTC 10, so if there is Noop step by step of how to do that I would be grateful.

US versions software is jacked. Would not recommend it right now.

I call BS on this.
Tell me, what exactly is so "jacked" about it?
It's ahead of WWE with Google security updates. And I've always stayed up to date with US Unlocked firmware with no issues whatsoever.
EDIT: If you are basing this assumption on this thread:
post#2 is from someone with Hong Kong firmware
post#3 is from someone on GiffGaff which is in the UK and using the o2 network
post#4 is someone on Verizon, so probably Verizon firmware (although it could be US Unlocked)
post#5 is someone on Cosmote which is a Greek based carrier (and probably someone with the same WWE/European firmware as the person you replied to)
US Unlocked firmware is just fine, and it gets updated more frequently than WWE

First things first, you need S-Off for this.
After you've gained S-Off, change your CID to BS_US001 (in download mode: fastboot oem writecid BS_US001)
Then change your MID to 2PS650000 (in download mode: fastboot oem writemid 2PS650000)
Then run the latest US Unlocked RUU which you can download from here.
Scroll down to the "Manual System Upgrade Instructions" on that link and read them. The RUU download is after the instructions.

I am full stock on 2 phones with random reboots. It's jacked.
Battery only gets 1 hour of screen on time ate this point

Okay, but have you tried other firmwares; like WWE for instance; to see if there is a difference? If not, than you have nothing to base the claim not to use US Unlocked because it is "jacked", as you put it. And if you have, you should have provided the info on the best firmware to use.
Just sayin........
I have no random reboots, and I have no battery drain. I'm on US Unlocked. No issues ever with it. Always flashed the latest firmware as soon as it came out.
I would assume that this issue isn't firmware based, but is because of some other issue.

Here's my battery stats. They'd be better, but I often stream music over BT at work. No issues.

My average SOT was well over 4 hrs when new. Yours is average 3.
I have 2 fully stock phones. I should not have to mod them to make them work. Prior to September patches, both phones were stable.

Did rooting and installing a ROM (Viper10 ect) Work?,
I've had the same problem as everybody else with the random bootlooping (Stock WWE (UK) 2.41.401.41).
We really shouldn't have to root our phones to fix a problem HTC made with their Nougat update.

I haven't had a chance to put a different ROM on my phone yet but I've also started having issues with Bluetooth connecting but then within a couple seconds the device reverts back to playing audio from the phone speakers and the volume controls don't show that i'm connected to bluetooth audio, even though I've tried 2 different bluetooth speakers. Seriously considering installing PureFusion again this weekend.

I have the same issue with the lastest Tmobile US firmware/software, mine goes into a bootloop around the 40% mark. I've just experienced similar behavior on a Samsung Tablet, I replaced the battery in it and all was well again.

I agree with you. Some of the batteries that got put into the 10 probably snuck through quality control from whoever manufactures them.

[Q] Random rebooting, kernel panic - got my one x

Hello Guys,
so i got my new one x yesterday and im not very happy with it.
1. It does some random reboots, just lying around and reboots sometimes.
2. Phone "hangs up" with black screen and blinking buttons. As far as i know this is a "kernel panic"
This happened about 5 times now, last time as im writing this.
3. Battery drain is huge, seems like a result of the above problems. Android OS has about 90% battery usage and it dropped to 82% after 54mins without charging and just lying around.
On the both screens you can hopefully notice it, 26mins and it lost 10% battery.
After this kernel panic the battery drain changed and the Android OS stopped to drain so much battery.
This is the "out of the box" state of my phone. I changed nothing beside from charging the battery and installed some apps (normal stuff, angry birds and such).
Does someone have a idea about this? I hope or assume these a software related problems. But im not sure with the kernel panic thing can this be due to hardware issues? Should i ask for a replace?
You said you installed a few apps and games. Try going back to factory settings first, wait a while and see if the pattern repeats, if the phone behaves normally, then it must be something you installed, not all apps are optimised for ICS.
Good luck!

check your kernel version pls
Ok thanks for your first impressions and help. Im trying the factory reset now.
I have done a screenshot of the kernel version.
First of all, and probably most important is to leave your phone charging for 6-8 hours without turning it on.
Then its spend the battery time where you do whatever it takes to.empty the battery completely until the phone is ready to shut down. Shut it down. Repeat charge process from above with device off. Turn it on and then you can be ready to test it for real. As far as reboots, you really should let the system settle down a bit. Give it a day or 2 without some extra heavy usage and I'm sure it will be just fine.

i hope this isnt a joke
joke or not, normal stuff apps can cause problems. the whole Android OS battery usage is because of apps you installed. it's a brand new phone and i wouldn't be too worried about it. i switched from Samsung to HTC because Samsung releases broken source code and doesn't seem like they really know how to do anything but stick hardware together. if i'm not happy with HTC, then maybe Motorola is making the next Nexus phone and i'll give that a try.
Please do keep us updated on how's everything working out ? Did the factory reset solved the issue? Hope this ain't an April fool joke ! Anyways hope everything goes well for you mate. Kept my fingers crossed on mine one x
So ok, i tried the factory reset twice. Seems Not to work atm. Im going to try it again. I hope Arhd and s-off is working soon
Im curios, maybe there are more ppl with this Problem after monday / tomorrow.
Ill keep you up2date.

Return it.
There's no way a factory-reset device should be behaving that way. My guess would be hardware problems.
First wave of a new phone is always more risky, you can get a faulty device

Agreed, it sounds screwed to me.
I can't speak for the rest of the world - but I don't really know why people panic. If the phone ends up being unstable it's going back and they'll be refunding my contract - it's really that simple.
There was a similar problem on the original Desires. Linked to overheating especially with GPS.

I'm not going to say your wrong but could you post some evidence? Ok the first part is per the user manual so I will agree with that one. However there should be no need to empty and re-charge the battery should there? According to this site: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_charge_when_to_charge_table Deep discharge wears the battery down. It also says no priming is needed.
Then the second point letting the system settle down? what? let what "settle down"? I don't even understand this statement. If you explain what you mean and again if you can provide some evidence that would be great. Thanks.
same problem
I experience the exact same problem. Random reboots and crashes.
What did you end up doing?
same problem too
Me too.
Get the phone for 2 days, and randoms reboots.
Get the same kernel that Dreist.
Try yesterday a factory reset, but no change.
I have the same problem. Constant reboots out of the blue. I'm back on my nexus which is super reliable. Probably gonna return it.
Got 3 reboots in a row yesterday but it was after flashing bricked kernel and battery under 23%, plugged the AC cable and no more reboots, perhaps the battery level is false with bricked kernel...
Just swapped mine out for a new one but now the new one has a yellowish screen. (sigh)

[Q] Xperia ZL C6502 keeps restarting

My xperia ZL keeps shutting down at random times, and when I try turning it on it usually turns off again at the Sony logo, or it turns on only to shutdown again.
BUT it works perfectly fine with the charger plugged in, and something I have noticed is that the charging light when the phone is turned off is yellowish now instead of purely orange like it usually is,
Plus i noticed that the phone without the charger runs fine for awhile, but as soon as I turn the camera on it shutsdown which it doesnt with the charger on.
What is the problem here?

Try holding down the reset button near the sdcard for a moment, this should fix the issue its not starting on charger.

Exactly the same problem over here buddy...
Here's a little letter I've written to Sony Support and their Press people:
"I've purchased my Xperia ZL in the United States (online at the end of March 2013 at ATGSM.com) and started using it mid April, 2013. I currently live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
After using this phone normally for about 9 months, there was this one day back on the first week of January 2014, where I was taking lots of photos at the world famous "Serra da Capivara National Park" and could just feel the phone heating up like never before. Next thing I know, the screen went blank and phone would not respond when I pressed the power button.
I had to pres the reset button in the back of the phone in order to make it work again. But once I tried to load the camera app, the phone would automatically shut itself off. I thought it could be related to a faulty or corrupted External SD Card, so I went ahead and removed that as well before I attempted to turn my phone back on. After the system loaded up again I tried to oped the camera app and the phone turned itself off again. Any app that would require a significant amount of processing power would cause the phone to freeze and shut off.
So I decided to charge the phone all the way up until 100% (while powered off). When it reached 100% I turned it back on and used it normally (while it was still plugged to the wall charger), so I thought... Great, the phone is "OK again"! Then I went ahead and unplugged the phone off the charger, expecting it to function normally... In just a matter of minutes, with just a little bit of usage (checking emails or browsing the web) the phone simply shuts itself off on its own, yet again. I tried to turn the phone back on again and just as before, I was greeted by the Sony logo and - without any warnings or alerts - the screen simply goes blank again and that's it. This is all it does on the battery.
I've searched online for a solution for this problem and I got nowhere. My phone is all stock, bootloader locked, not rooted. I've formatted and updated it with the latest Firmware (10.4.B.0.569) a couple of times using Sony's Update Service application for Windows to no avail. Nothing seems to fix this battery/shut down on its own problem. There's tons of other Sony users complaining about similar issues with their Xperias. Just look up "xperia zl shuts off" on Google and you'll see what I mean.
My phone is one big dud...
So there you have it - one big useless US$650 piece of hardware. That only functions normally when it's plugged into a wall charger or your average computer USB port.
Not much of a "mobile" phone if you ask me.
I'm extremely unhappy with Sony's hardware and their inflexible technical support.
I've purchased this device in the United States and they can only grant me tech support under my 1 year manufacturer's warranty if I ship it over to their facility in Texas for repairs. That's no big deal for me. The one big problem is: They want me to have a US shipping address so they can ship if over to that address after they finish repairing/replacing/refurbishing my phone. And I've got a big problem with that.
I do not live in the United States. How am I supposed to pick my phone up over there?
After doing some digging through my phone's IMEI, Sony's tech support representatives brought to my attention that my device is a "Grey Market" phone (meant to be used in Singapore?) and that they don't even know how long it will take for them to service my phone. According to their supervisor, it could take anywhere from 1 month up to 4 months, maybe even more for them to repair and send it back to me.
See what I'm going through here?!?!?!
What good is it for a company as big as Sony to print and place a cute little warranty pamphlet inside the box of your brand new phone, containing the numbers of several different technical support worldwide if the 1 year warranty is not going to be covered in all of those different countries??????????????
I took the initiative to call Sony's specialized Xperia Mobile support telephone number from that pamphlet that came with my phone (not a free call, by the way) here in Brazil and shared with them my frustration regarding my Xperia ZL. They were sympathetic with me, and readily provided me with 3 different authorized service centers near my home, with their respective addresses and telephone numbers.
I managed to reach a couple of those authorized repair centers here in Brazil (over the phone) only to find out that they DO NOT have any of these Xperia ZL / ZQ batteries in stock. They also mentioned that several other customers called them and shared their bad experiences with their Xperia ZQ's battery life (defective batteries) and were greeted the same way: "I'm sorry, we can't help you. We do not carry that replacement battery in stock. We have already placed the order for those with Sony, but there's no estimate of when or even if these will ever arrive in our store anytime soon... I'm sorry about that..."
Yeah, I'm sorry about that too Sony.
I'm really sorry I bought a Sony smartphone.
I wish I could go back in time and buy a Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition instead.
But it's too late... I've already spent 650 bucks on your crappy smartphone, Sony.
Looking back, I can tell you that I've had problems with lots of other computer components that I've purchased in the States, from several different manufacturers. And I've RMA'd lots of these defective memory modules (RAM), defective SD Cards, etc. I've shipped it from Brazil straight to them in the States and in less than 1 month after they received my RMA, they went ahead and shipped a replacement back to me (in Brazil) FREE OF CHARGE! Most importantly, with NO HASSLE! That's right, NONE of these companies refused to ship it back to me at my Brazilian address like Sony is doing to me at this time.
This is the worst customer support from such a big and Global company that I've ever dealt with in my entire life.
Shame on you Sony!
After this horrible experience, here's a few things that I CAN and WILL DO for sure:
- I will NEVER buy another Sony device (camera, smartphone or laptop) ever again.
- I will never recommend a Sony product to any of my friends and family.
- I will never buy another phone with a built in, internal battery.
Sony has been continuously releasing and flooding the market with new phones that doesn't add a whole lot of improvements over their previous gen devices (Z - ZL - Z1 - Z1 - Z1 Ultra - Z1S and so on). All they do is depreciate the value of what they have already released just a few months for just a little more, sometimes even less money than what you paid for your current "last gen" Sony phone just 2 or 3 months ago.
The Xperia ZL was released with last gen Snapdragon S4 Pro and in just a couple of months after I purchased my ZL they released a new, better spec'd smartphone, the Xperia Z1. And now, Sony has just announced the Xperia Z1S...
I understand that in today's mobile market / segment it's "the norm" to have this ever evolving and improving trend of new technology on mobile devices, but this seems to be getting kind of out of hand. You buy something today for US$650, sometimes even more depending on where on earth you live, only to see it become seemingly obsolete in just a matter of 3 months.
Sighs...
I'm through with Sony."
Same problem here; already 2 days waiting for my Sony smartphone support Account email activation and still waiting ( done it twice from hotmail and gmail ).
A short-time solution is to open the device, disconnect battery for some minutes and build it up all again---> the phone will work form some days/weeks until it start crapping again...really a shame product for Sony...whould expect more from such an expensive product from one of the most expensive trademarks.
Hope I get some more luck from support.

A short-time solution is to open the device, disconnect battery for some minutes and build it up all again---> the phone will work form some days/weeks until it start crapping again...really a shame product for Sony...whould expect more from such an expensive product from one of the most expensive trademarks.
Hope I get some more luck from support.

No.
Change battery, problem solved.
They just can't accept the crappy battery they've used, still they know that's the issue.
It's funny that this phone is rated as having a 2370mah battery. But.....
Stock battery I had to replace:

I have same problem. This is big problem of all xperia ZL!!!

Random Switch-Offs

Sad face time. I've had numerous problems with my ZL - the mic cutting out, crackling quality on speakerphone, the proximity sensor being in the wrong place for left handed people.. but now, it's much worse.
My phone is randomly turning itself off. I am rooted and have CM running, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. It started a day or two after updating from CM10.2 to CM10.2.1, but I've downgraded to CM10.2 again and it's still happening. It was a complete wipe and reinstall - no luck. There doesn't seem to be any consistent cause for it.
The phone just switches off mid-use, and will only partially turn back on. It will either show the Sony logo, then die again. Or it will get halfway through booting the CM logo, and then switch off again, immediately to a black screen. It seems to boot back up again better if plugged in, but not always.
To be honest, I think this is a hardware fault and will have to go in for repair. The ZL never launched in the UK, so I think this is going to cause me even more problems. Sad face again.
Any help or advice appreciated, but I think my ZL is dying.

Thanks - I thought it might be the battery. Was it an easy process to deal with the service centre?
Try to calibrate the battery with Google play app "battery calibration" also try a fresh install of a stock firmware for your model. Do not send the phone to a service center with CM

Thanks for the advice.. I was going to reinstall stock and relock the bootloader etc. before sending it anywhere.
I'll give the battery calibration a try, although it'll die showing 75% of battery and having been charged for hours. So sad.

I just started getting the same problem as well about a week and a half ago. Was running liquidsmooth, and I changed from dalvik to ART, and when it was booting back up, it shut.off. I tried to turn it on again, and it.shut.off again. I went back to Romaur (stock based rom) and Gustavos 78kernel. And still the same problem. It will just shut off, and I can't boot without being plugged in. And when it boots, it doesn't boot properly. It skips the Sony logo and goes right to the Xperia logo. Also, half.the time I can't get any service on it after it boots. Or sometimes I just lose signal randomly, but it will always show 1 bar. And it I try to make a phone call when it's in this state, the phone call won't go thru, and the app freezes and I cannot.hang up the call. Something crazy is happening. I was hoping that maybe ordering a.replacement.battery would solve the issue, but I'm starting to seriously doubt it.

I sent it off to the repair centre - and while it was difficult getting a straight answer from their call centre, their engineers appear to have been fantastic.
The problem seemed to be with the battery. They replaced that, and also seem to have fixed a problem I had with the proximity sensor too.
If your phone is still in warranty and you're experiencing this issue, I would definitely recommend sending it off. I am usually pretty cynical about sending items off for repair, but I was SO impressed with what I've got back. It broke my heart to have my phone turn off unexpectedly and at the smallest action.. but now it works, and I'm in love with my ZL again.
It definitely wasn't a software problem either because I tried two versions of CM and one version of stock before they fixed it as a hardware fault. Send it off for repair!

I was advised by other (very helpful) members of this board that I should, so that's what I did. I sent it back without the Bravia engine and DRM keys because I didn't make a backup, but I still locked and stocked it
But either they didn't check, or didn't care - one XDA member told me that under EU law, Sony Mobile would have to prove that the rooting caused the fault to refuse fixing it under warranty so maybe that's true. They still fixed it and did an amazing job. I think they even gave me a new screen even though it was perfectly fine! It came back without any scratches on it!!
I'm so happy now. I was using my old Xperia Arc S in the meantime.. which was torture after using a 5" quad core for a year!

Sudden power off solved with new battery !!!

Finally tested it today and it really works!. The real fact is on web you always find that "it should" be the battery, and a battery change "whould" solve it, well I have to try it and it really does, so you should get a battery somewhere ( check out I found 2 places on www, dunno if I can put the links please say If I can do so ) and get your phone alive again! ( I'm so happy  )
Here are 2 dissasemble videos; one from our friend "danieldp1990" and one in russian HD. Whould reccomend use both of them since as nice as the russian video looks, they're missing some parts.
The most hard part is to remove the battery since it's glued and you don't wanna do much strenght since you have the display right below it, so make it slowly.

My Xperia ZL just started doing this sudden shutoff thing but it seams to be getting worse, it's gotten so bad that when you boot up the phone it shows the SONY logo then immediately shuts off. When I plug it into the wall charger the LED lights up RED and then the SONY logo then reboot over and over(Bootloop). But yet i'm able to get it into fastboot and flashmode fine and can flash ftf through Flashtools with no problems i'm wondering if this could be a simple battery problem or if it's a software error. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
There are loads of posts about this issue on Sony's official forum. Looks like you either have to send it to Sony or put a new battery in.

I finally replaced the battery in my zl, and it fixed the issues of not powering on. But the new battery appears to be having issues. Sometimes it went charge. It will fluctuate percentages, for ex it would go from 58 to 56 to 60 to 55 etc.. It's been acting crazy. Even on various roms. I restored an old backup of miui I had, and it seems more stable, but still won't charge full. The replacement battery was a Sony oem one so I'm not Sue what's up.

Sudden power off, Not powering on unless charger attached, missing signal/signal problems, ultimately not even powering on with charger is the whole same issue = Crappy Sony battery ( programmed obsolescence )
Now it's happening again to me. Will NEVER buy a Sony product again in life.

[Q] LG G3 Turning Off Problem

I have randomly started experiencing a problem where my device would turn off randomly which has gradually gotten worse to the point where it's stuck in a boot loop sort thing and will shut off randomly during boot then restart.
The problem started by every now and then (sometimes not happening for a day at a time) the phone would turn off then turn back on again gradually getting worse. The problem started when I installed the latest update during the update the screen froze (no it was not interrupted in anyway and done officially through the phone) so after leaving it overnight and it not progressing I took the chance and removed the battery. it then turned on and finished the update without an issue. The phone has since as I explained got into a 'boot loop' sort scenario where it will work if the charger is plugged in but couldn't be a battery issue as doesn't turn off if I put it into download mode. Things I've tried: Doing a complete reset- Still no fix. and now today I entered download mode and re-installed the firmware which was successful but still no prevail?! What the hell could this be?! Thanks

Maybe it's a hardware issue
hi, where did you get the firmware? it could be corrupted. if I were you I would download again the firmware and reflash it.
after that I'll do a hard reset.

Well i guess im not alone as i have the same exact problem as you do! WHich version do you have? I have the White T-Mobile version and i bought it the same week it was on sale i felt that i got a phone that was part of a bad batch because of some problems ive had with it but i didnt buy insurance for it. i was on LG's OS and it started to get worse and worse so i restored it and went to a lollipop rom. its still happening but it only reboots once. however, as soon as i start using apps it reboots on me. i want to unroot it but at the same time i dont want to go through the trouble of rooting it again. Any ideas of what it could be?
My problem just randomly started happening and i noticed this started happening strangely after my phone completely died on me and didnt want to turn on so i connected it to the charger and it started charging but had a yellow warning triangle somewhere on the screen.

Hey, nice to hear someone has the same issue, I however hvent had the yellow warning triangle come up yet, as an update all of a sudden it keeps turning off as soon as it boots even on charge!!!??? It just keeps getting gradually worse?! However I have noticed the battery % it shows when turned off is 100% and very randomly it displays 70% then when the phone boots it will show 2% for the 2 seconds it stays on before it dies?!

Wait now it reboots on you even if its charging? I too started noticing that with my battery . if I turn it off and charge it it and lets say it says its at 75% well I turn it on and its like at 40%? I really don't want to buy another battery but I actually hope the battery is the culprit. There's a guy with a G3 in my school I'm going to see if he let's me try his battery out on my phone I'll keep you posted

Hey sorry for taking so damn long on replying i've been busy studying for some exams.
I've got good news for you though, i took my phone in to T-Mobile and showed them my problem. Without me putting much effort into persuading them, they shipped me a new phone, and no i didn't pay for insurance on T-Mobile, this was covered by LG's 1 year Manufacturers warranty!
Anyways, I received the device but did not receive a battery. So i tried my battery on the new one and what do you know? SAME PROBLEM!
So yea you should either try to unroot the phone and take it to the store but don't mention that you think its the battery, they'll send you a new phone! Then just buy a battery online or call them after a few days and say your problem is still occurring with the new phone and see if they send you a replacement battery, im a little skeptical on this second option as id rather keep this new phone haha

Hi, even i am having this problem, my phone is a D855 and in my country (Mozambique) i am not using a contract so its different than US, we have a LG store here but in the LG website our country is not stated. So only way is to go to a trusted Store that repairs phone here. My question is that, when its not connected in the charger it just keeps reboting (the notification LED doesnt even blink) infinite times. At first i thought it was a software but after going from Stock to Cloudy to CandyRom the problem was still there. Then after i plugged in a charger the phone would succesfully boot up and i could use it normally but had to stay connected on a charger. So what have you done to fix this? Did you replace the battery with a new one and then it stopped rebooting?? Please help me as i want to buy a new battery but first want to confirm if its the battery at fault....

Hello buddy, sorry for taking so long to reply. Im usually not on XDA too much. Yes i solved my issue with a new battery. I tried my bad battery on 2 lg g3s and it rebooted both. I also unrooted my phone and flashed a completely stock update and was still having that issue.
I hope my response isnt too late for you!
No problem bro! Got a new battery and do far my phone doesnt reboot, but the only problem i am having is that my phone shutsdown at 30% battery and when trying to turn on it says it has 0%

Im having the same problem gotba new battery and no different so annoying
Best thing just happened. I had the G3 for a while and my first one had an issue and had to get a warranty replacement. Long story short... I got two more G3s from T-Mobile that were defective and most carries have a policy where if you get 3 warranty replacements you can chose a different phone. To wrap it up, you can ask for a phone of equal or lesser value when purchased from the carrier (I bought mine off eBay and they didn't even notice, I spoke to several reps and no one caught on.) So they can either send you a whole new phone, a new battery, or in my case: I received a new LG G4 since I had gone through three which pretty much anyone can do with a bad battery.
Guys. Im having this same exact problem on my LGG3!!!
Expired Battery or Faulty Power Button could be the culprit
This issue just started happening to my LG G3 over the last 2 weeks. I've had my LG G3 for exactly 15 months and all of a sudden it started cycling endlessly and if it did get to my locked screen and i tried to unlock it it would just restart again.
I found that when I plugged in the device to a wall charger or high power power brick, it would halt the reboots but otherwise it would get stuck in an endless cycle of partial reboots (when it did stop after plugging in, I would find all my apps still open and waiting for me, so they weren't real power cycles).
One of my coworkers has a newer LG G3, so we swapped batteries and immediately he had the cycling issue on his phone and with his battery in my phone the issue vanished.
On closer inspection, my battery was a few months past its expiration (FYI to anyone with a LG G3 - your battery will expire more or less exactly as its warranty protection does!), so went and bought a new battery and everything is fine now.
For those of you who have tried replacing the battery and find it still occurs, another coworker said his wife had a similar issue on a different device and it was resolved by having the power button replaced, so it is possible that this could be a factor also and you should have your phone sent in for inspection/repair.
Hope this is helpful for some of you.

I've had the same issue since February, when my phone was about 17 months old. It kept turning off saying SIM card not detected. I tried replacing the SIM card and washing that area with alcohol with no luck. Then I replaced the battery with a second one that came with the phone which I'd never used, but I noticed no difference. It also has no phone service for several hours without my knowledge. LG just told me to reset the phone, but it looks like that doesn't work from what I've read. T-Mobile said they'd give me a new phone but there are no G3s in stock and offered me a Samsung 3, which is three years old, so I am worried that it won't be able to handle the software updates. It's ridiculous that a phone that costs this much won't even last long enough for me to pay it off. My last phone was an Iphone, which I had for more than four years.
I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago, posted a detailed explanation of the problem and got 0 replies and a few hundred views (thanks guys!)
Easy answer:
Replace your battery
Thats what I did, and the problem is now gone. When you do get a new battery make sure you drain it completely first, then charge it for 4 hours without exceptions.
I tried factory resetting, installing a new firmware, going to stock and going to custom but nothing worked.
The girl in the shop where i bought the battery surprised me, i just asked her if they had one available and her immediate reply way "why, is your g3 stuck in a boot loop?", apparently EVERY SINGLE PERSON that bought a g3 battery from them had the exact same issue.
Now the problem is gone, and my phone actually lasts longer than before.

Hey, I am having the EXACT same issue. LG G3 was stuck in an endless loop, replaced the battery, now it works down to about 30% and shuts off. When I try to restart it says 0%. I even tried a third different battery, and still getting that 30% shutdown. Did you ever figure out what it was? I am wondering is it something to do with how the phone reads the battery charge i.e. does it think the battery is dead when it gets to 30%? It has e stumped!! Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.
wtf, actually same with my LG G3,after when I bought a new battery. Shutsdown at 30% and it says has 0%.
same problem
