Install via USB without signing into MI account? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

So, flashed multirom 7.10.12 (miui 9) today, and I'm a developer.
For some reason, "install via USB" option in developer options is requesting me to connect the phone to a MI account - which I don't want to do.
Is there something I can do to bypass this?
What the hell do they want and why is this a requirement to be able to install apps via USB

Can't unlock bootloader. Device no longer detected the moment I open Mi Unlock Tool.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread.
Hello guys, I have a Redmi Note 5 (Global Version) with Snapdragon 636, and this phone is really amazing. I'd like however to unlock its booloader so I can install Pixel Experience on it, as I'd like to use other roms than MIUI. The issue is, well, I can't.
Something really strange happens: if I connect my phone via USB 2.0 to my computer, it is recognized as usual. It appears in Device Manager, is recognized by ADB, no problem. Then I reboot in fastboot mode and the device is still there. However, the EXACT moment I open Mi Unlock Tool, without clicking anything (Agree or logging in to my mi account) the phone is instantly disconnected and the "Press any key to shutdown" message appears on the top-left of my phone's screen.
Stuff I've tried:
- made sure OEM unlocking and USB debugging are on
- installed Mi Unlock tool in C:
- installed the ADB drivers in C:/Program Files
- disabled integrity checks from CMD
- installed and checked the MiUSBDriver umpteen times
- used 4 different versions of Mi Unlock Tool (1.0, 2.2, 2.3, and 3.3 - 1.0 halts at 50%, the other 3 won't detect my phone at all)
- made sure the device is bound to my Mi Account
I've tried using Hexerus' guide here (post #18) and everything seems to work fine, until step 6 when my phone instantly disconnects when opening Mi Unlock Tool.
Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks.

Used USB 2.0, didn't work
Happened with me before, and I looked Google and found some solutions like installing the drivers again and using old miunlock tool and using different USB Socket however, none of theme worked,
Next day I opened the laptop to try again and suddenly it worked!
I didn't know what exactly fixed it
After the 720 hours period, I have spent literally weeks of trying to unlock my device's bootloader and what I would add is to switch between computers. I'm running Windows 10 on my room computer and all I had with MiUnlock were errors such as device disconnecting once in fastboot, "Couldn't unlock" messages, chinese characters... Until I decided to use my 2005 Windows 7 desktop and wow !, device unlocked at first try ! No need any other trick
just uninstall Previous drivers or use Windows 7 PC,with latest drivers of ADB ,i also faced same problem:angel:

Maybe something with Windows?
I wondered if the laptop could be indeed the problem... I do have another laptop (for now), should I try using it tomorrow?

Might be a good idea to add a step about checking the lock bootloader option.

Agreed, I got stung and had to spend another 30 mins to unlock again.
@Judyz add something around checking the following options with details:
clean all (pick this option to retain unlocked device)
save user data
clean all and lock (this is default option, be WARNED it will lock your device if unlocked)

scrcpy issues

Hello xda'ers
I have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, however I want to use the scrcpy github . com / Genymobile / scrcpy utility it says it cannot detect the phone.
ADB Setup and its drivers have been correctly installed.
USB debugging has been enabled in the phone.
But the ADB cannot detect the phone.
It still is not working, so I went into the phone, developer options and go to USB Debugging, Security settings, and toggle that on, but it asks for a Mi Account?, which I do not have.
Please help.
Might as well sign up for that Mi account, because you need the (security settings) toggle turned on if you want to control the device via scrcpy. What does it tell you when you enter the command adb devices ? Did you get the popup asking for confirmation on whether you want to allow the PC to access debugging when you connected the phone via USB? Also make sure MTP/PTP/whatever else isn't turned on.
It's odd, executing adb devices gave an unauthorized message on the computer console, but the security confirmation never appeared on the phone up until some hours ago. I authorized the connection and voila I can now see the phone's screen on desktop PC via scrcpy, however.....
The screen just freezes, I mean, I cannot interact with it on the computer. If I unblock the phone manually and interact with it, the screen refreshes properly on the desktop, alas this is an issue with scrcpy not with the phone or ADB. Maybe I should file a bug or search their site?
Again, you have to enable the (security settings) toggle in your developer options if you want to control your device from the computer. This is mentioned on the Readme on scrcpy GitHub already.
Found solution:
1. Enable USB debugging
2. Run any terminal as root
3. setprop persist.security.adbinput 1
. That's all, nothing else is required

Question Redmagic 6 pro - no factory\hard reset option

Hi there. I previously rooted (successfully) and then unrooted my Redmagic 6 pro device. I want to reflash the stock ROM but I can't see the device in fastboot (and yes I have updated usb drivers, adb etc etc). "ADB devices" returns "0123456789ABCDEF devices" rather than the correct serial number.
I have wiped\reset the Phone with the available options - from System and from Recovery, but there is still a problem.
There is no factory reset option in recovery mode or in System Settings, only wipe data.
Am I missing something or is there another way I can take it back to day 0, remembering I can't get fastboot to see my device. Is there an eload option or another way of loading the Stock ROM (not through the 3 dots in the System update, as I have already done this also).
Looking forward to some guidance. Thanks.
Try downloading the ZTE USB drivers if the fastboot device isn't recognized.
ZTE USB drivers: https://archive.org/download/ZteDriverSetup2018/Zte Driver Setup 2018.zip
Try enabling developer opinions also and enable usb debugging.
Oh by the way, "Wipe data" means Factor reset. It's not gone, it's just named like that.
