Lenovo Z2 Plus low speaker and earphone volume - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

Recently bought a new Z2 Plus. Updated from 2.0.093 to 2.0.133 to 2.5.104
No difference observed in volume levels.
Overall I am quite disappointed with the volume levels both in speaker and earphones. Very low compared to other mobiles. My Moto G 1st gen is approx 40% louder.
Even at the highest volume levels it is just OK and the lower volume levels are so insignificant that you can hardly hear anything.
Little bit of research showed that Indian roms have low volume. Saw some threads on zuk EU forum and also one patch was released to boost volume levels which never came to India. See this:
www.phonearena.com/news/ZUK-Z2-receives-a-small-update-that-improves-camera-volume-levels_id86995
Just a bit concerned if this issue is with my device only or it is a general problem of Z2 Plus?
Also, I eventually will go the custom ROM way after few more days of usage on stock ROM. Does the custom roms boost volume levels or is it same or even worse?
Not interested for the audio mod which makes the earpiece work as secondary speaker.
Plz suggest

Yes ... Custom roms perform well in almost every aspect than the stock... Zui 2.5.104 ( indian version ) is buggy that why you might be experiencing the problem... Change to a custom rom like crdroid ( recommended ) or aex ... You will experience good sound quality and there is a dolby atmos mod available... U can flash too if u want

use dolby atmos in custom rom, much better.

Yeah. The stock rom is really bad in terms of some needed features. GSMArena page has mentioned this phone supports 24bit/98khz audio but doesn't feel like it. I bought this phone for Snapdragon 820 but now I regret it because it lags & heats up like some low end old phone. Also audio is one of my priority & it sucks on stock.
As suggested by fellow members, flash custom rom with dolby atmos. My personal experience, audio is way better on AEX stock than ZUI. I didn't install any mods though.
Try for yourself what audio setup you like.

Dude just install AEX 4.6 with dolby atmos a7000 module from magisk. You will get the best and louder sounds than any other mobile.

SOUND QUALITY (when compared with devices equipped with the Wolfson DAC )

Just curiuous about the sound quality of the Oppo find 7 compared with those devices carrying the Wolfson DAC .
Regardin headset output
Anyone?
I don't know about headphones but all i know is this phone has the loudest and clearest speakers i have ever seen on a smartphone. I have owned all of the galaxy models, droid dna, xperia z2, optimus g pro, nexus 4, huawei mate; to name a few. Besides the HTC Boom sound i don't think many others come close. Most of the time it is literally too loud for general use at full volume.
Thanks
But I am really interested on the headset sound quality.
No external speaker can match my JBL portable ( for phones) ..
.
Actually, it would be interesting to know what is the it's the impact (if any)of the cooperation between Waves and Wolfson ( http://www.analog-eetimes.com/en/mo...-technologies.html?cmp_id=7&news_id=222905459 ) on the find 7, since the Snapdragon processor got its own DAC...

This is my second device with Snapdragon DAC(first was a Xiaomi Mi-2) and both has a very good sound output with well balance equalizer and 0 distortion. MaxxAudio and DiracHD(in ColorOS) it's DSP and as well they put they signature efects and equalizer, this things I don't like. Comparing to Wolfson DAC in my Galaxy devices ,my iPhone 1st gen and my iPod I can't complain about quality and power output, of course they have diferent signatures of sound but every DAC and headphone has too.

I am also not that impressed with this "award winning" maxxaudio thing and I wonder if it's any better than Viper4Android as a DSP manager.
I guess I just have to take my headsets to a showroom and run some tests on another device carrying probably the same Qualcomm built-in DAC such as the HTC 1 M8.
However it could be that the HTC got another amp implementation ......

As a DSP manager MaxxAudio has a good performance and serve for his purpose that is general public and even Viper has a profile that's similar to it. Equalizers and DSP are fairly wrong because they aren't correct anything but adding something that they don't need used and makes even a great DAC like Wolfson sounds bad.
I'll be able to give you subjective views soon enough
I own the SGS3 (with Boeffla sound) and have the Oppo Find 7 coming to me within a week.
I own the Modded D2Ks (essentailly D5Ks) and Audeo Phonak PFE232s

Hey there!
Here's my impressions - I just got the phone today and have been playing around with it.
It's almost 3am here and I've got work tomorrow at 9 lol!
Sound impressions: extremely positive, it sounds great!
If I had to compare, I would say (and this is being EXTREMELY analytical of the sound, A/Bing and trying to listen out to certain parts of songs - difference isn't that obvious):
-S3 has a more meatier sound, little more bass emphasis
-S3 and Find 7 have the same output volume (or very close to it)
-Oppo Find 7 is more mid centric
-S3's soundstage is slightly wider/deeper
-Highs seem very similar
Notes:
-Tests conducted un-amped with my heavily modded D2Ks
-This was tested with the S3 using DeltaROM that has Boeflla kernel, but I made sure to disable Boeffla sound in the configurator, before stating the above results. (With Boeflla enabled, the S3 wins in every way, hands down)
-Oppo Find 7 is running stock ROM Colour OS 1.2.6i.
-Both are running Poweramp (unlocked) with flat EQs
-Both phones are on Android 4.3
End of the day, there's an extremely slight difference between the two. It isn't something like the S2's (yes numero dos) horrible chipset (as far as I'm, aware subjectively speaking), but nor is it better sounding than the S3 nor the beast the S1.
It lies between the S2 and S3's sound. Great but not as good I guess.
I listen to music a heck of a lot on my phone and I think I'll cope with with this initial listen - in other words, it's not something that will make me put it down, it's something I'll stick to and happily listen to
On a separate note: the Oppo Find 7 is an amazing phone, blistering fast, charging was ridiculously good, the camera is decent (especially the front facing one) and the Colour OS skin is the best Android skin I've ever come across (ie HTC's Sense and Samsung's TW).
However, I'm a little disappointed by its overall brightness levels , lack of pull-down notification customisation and little washed out colours.
other than those three points (which can all potentially be sorted out via a custom rom), the phone is so far flawless

No problem.
I am new at the Find 7 forums ( here and there) and I didint even get my Find 7 yet, but if I were you I would not compare the screen with a sAmoled device...and... just flash a CM or AOSP rom to check if the issue is softwarewise
If it's not the hardware, I guess a firmware upgrade will do ( if you want to stick with stock)

Dont forget to report back
Since it's a bit off-topic ( no big deal ) you could start a dedicated thread here at the XDA
My Find 7 is probably arriving tomorrow...
I hope it's from a new batch, even if it's coming from England and not China ....:fingers-crossed:

flashed nameless - seems like the same thing in terms of brightness - I'm just wondering if it's a device/glass thing, rather than anything else....I'#ms tarting to doubt myself.
But each time I see comparisons on YouTube, the S5 and Oppo look identical in brightness
Btw: Nameless is RIDICULOUSLY fast !

Very disappointed with audio. What are my options

Hey guys.
I have a Pixel 2 XL and have had it for about 6 months now.
Overall I am pretty disappointed with the audio out of the phone. I am using my Ultimate Ears TF10 through a Dragonfly Black and it sounds much worse than just the TF10s through my iPhone 6s (not using the dragonfly)
I can see a few options here and seeking some feedback.
1. Root the phone (I have read on here some custom ROMs will give better gains over USB C.
2. Get a pair of Bluetooth headphones (I don't really want to do this since I already have a good set of IEMs. Also are there any restrictions with Bluetooth such as compression etc.
3. Sell the phone and go get an LG v30 with its quad DAC.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the phone but the audio is very disappointing and I spend a few hours commuting today so it's a real let down.
Let me know what everyone thinks
Thanks guys

Root using Magisk and install the following modules.
Viper4Android FX Materialized
Ainur Sauron
Audio Compatibility Patch
Audio Modification Library
Those four modules should improve the sound quality.

I am surprised you are having such a bad expierience.
The USB only audio (no headset jack) advantage is that you can use better DAC/Amps than on a regular smartphone.
My measurements of the various ones out there all show pretty decent specs (with some exceptions).
The stock Google dongle is excellent (it's a custom Realtec chip), I am testing the new one this weekend. Sure, using my gain control app will get you a bit cleaner tracing but whether that's audible or not, hard to say.
Apt X bluetooth with the Mee BT adapter is also very good.
I wonder if perhaps your transducer(s) in the headphone/IEM aren't working properly. That happened to me a couple of years ago with my SE846 and it drove me nuts until I figured it out.
Another thing to check: What source are you listening to? Your own rips (and what player), Spotify, G music etc? Let me know and we can go from there, as the problems vary between each one. Do you use the on board equalizer or any equalizer? If so what gains, bands?
I just tested the new dongle and re evaluated the USB audio in Pie - the implementation is substantially better and the gains are now properly optimized.
So, I don't think your issue is a Dac dongle problem, unless it is defective.
Thanks for the help so far guys.
Source is Spotify 320 kbps.
I don't think it's the headphones as it sounds fine when I plug back into my iPhone.
I might do some more testing this afternoon when I get home as my wife has the same phone.
I also have a pair of MEE X7 Bluetooth earphones and I am more impressed with these via Bluetooth (yes they are boomy but I can tell that the Bluetooth dac isn't being restricted)
I'll fill in once I have tested on my wife's phone tonight

I don't exactly advertise it. ?
I'm running those same audio mods and have no complaints with sound... Are you sure you have everything enabled in magisk property? Is V4A showing "processing =yes" when you are playing music?
My P2XL is not rooted and on Pie.
The only thing I've really missed, so far, is Dolby Atmos.
Since it's not available for Pie, I've been holding off rooting.
While searching for an audio booster, I found this app. Believe it, or not, it sounds almost as good as Dolby Atmos. I'm still tweaking it.

Should I buy a SM-G9650 (Snapdragon) in Europe?

...
I live in Brazil and i have this exact model. I use mostly Claro`s LTE and no VOLTE, wifi calling, etc... just ~normal~ calls
What i can tell you about it is it`s an amazing phone as you have probably seen in the reviews but it`s better now because of ONE UI.
In my case i`ve never been really up to samsung software and thats why i`ve never had one prior to this one, it had always been about choosing a phone with good hardware and installing LOS
But with ONE UI and a launcher of choice you can get a pretty clean and functional stock android experience. IT is also the first phone that i didn`t root because i haven`t really needed it so far, the only thing i miss about it is adaway at the moment but DNS66 does the job.
What i mentioned above stands for sd and exynos versions.
The benefits of getting the snapdragon version are. better performance, better battery life and since sd 845 is a common chip on high end devices, it is easier to find a good gcam port to take advantage of this phone`s great camera
...
I`ve never used call recording (didn`t even know this feature existed lol) but it appears a lot of people are running it within ONE UI so that should work if you need it.
About the audio, i don`t know much about other flagship models, but what i can say from my experience with the s9+ is.
First of all, it supports normal(P2) headphones lol
But seriously, the audio quality through the headphone jack is really good and so is the volume output, i should say it`s the best one i`ve had so far. I tested it using the akg buds that come with the phone. They are awesome btw
Also, wireless audio is good too but i guess that shouldn`t be surprising in any phone
About software, samsung offers a really good equalizer and some effects like tube amp but the best part about it is dolby atmos and it`s presets. It offers good enough customization so that you don`t actually need viper4android or any third party apps, the presets are pretty good too if you want to save time.
There are other 2 unique features, bixby and a bixby button (a real button on the side) and they are by far the worst part of this phone. but samsung acknowledged it so you can remap the button to another function and almost disable bixby

New Note 5 Dual AI Owner, Looking for Advice

Hello dear XDA peeps xD
I was a proud owner of Sony Z3C, but it's touchscreen and audio jack died, so after some research I switched to Note 5 Whyred.
I enjoy amateur photography - I read that the sensors in this phone are good, and I think they are yet I can't control shutter speed?
I plan on unlocking the bootloader in about 7 days, so I wanted to prepare in the meantime.
So my main question(s) would be : Is there a good rom for light use that benefits multimedia such as photography/video recording, while retaining or improving battery life? I am not a gamer anymore xD And is there any app/rom/anything that can help me with advanced camera controls (I plan on enabling Camera2API, but I would like shutter speed control and exposure time).
Thanks in advance.

Stock miui example xiaomi eu is enough..i am new too using this device..kind of flashaholic trying roms and kernel..in the end, i get back to miui which is as always xiaomi eu to me..should try havoc os though..the roms rocks if you like aosp based roms..
You made a good choise for the price.First of all you have to install sa2ration to change screen colours,as they are soo washed out.Camera on this phone makes wonder with Gcam.there are so many good working versions. Also there are mods for manual camera shutter. But in my opinion nothing can compete Gcam with night sight.I also suggest you latest stock based miui Pie dev roms. They are pretty stable snd best Gcam compatibility.Or you can install Greek Miui XTRV rom.(is stock rom but much more optimized)Also you have to install xposed framework and custoMIUIzer mod.You will definitely loose your mind on how this mod transforms miui rom to best rom ever!
Thanks for the recommendations - so MIUI is a beast after all I will check out what you mentioned in these next few days, as I can't do anything anyway until I can unlock the bootloader xD
Yeah bro.But hurry up because from the time you will decide to unlock BL,you will have to wait maybe 10-15 days.
Yeah, did that ~ 160 hours remaining, so in about a week I'll be able to do all of it

Pie Update Better or worse

Hi
I just ordered a LG G7 plus thinq in India.
I want to ask how's the audio quality, volume level and brightness levels after pie Update?
Somewhere in YouTube mentioned that volume levels and brightness levels have reduced.
And, I also wish to know how's the audio quality experience in general in this phone?
Thanks
Haven't notice any difference after update
But the phone audio and brighttnes is good. But I live in Sweden and don't experience bright sunlight as often as in India ?
Thanks maydayind.

I don't see any difference here, UI is smoother with better battery backup. I don't see any other improvements. RAM management is better in pie.:fingers-crossed:
Thanks coolrevi
Yeh, I am also facing the same problem
Sound quality is reduced after update..
And the photos are like video
RAM management and battery life is better post update for sure... The photo quality has improved and is usable as compared to the painting like results earlier due to over sharpening.
I updated and the volume is definitely reduced. Kindly tell me how to downgrade.
Kindly tell me what files do i need like drivers, lg flash software, and which kdz file for android oreo and India region.?
Kindly guide me.

Got mine a week ago ...
I bought mine a week ago through t-mobile, it came with android 8.0 but it updated to android 9.0 a few days later. I haven't had any issues with it so far. I've read reviews about the camera not being so good but i think they are pretty decent. Overall I'm very pleased with the phone. Android 9 definitely better.
