I have the ZUK Z2 64gb version with Nougat ZUI 2.5.104 ST. I am here requestion confirmation about an issue.
Whenever I play music (Poweramp) in my phone the notification sounds are getting mute even after closing the music player. The player doesn't run in bg or in the background in pause or as a service. But the notification sounds are not back until I restart the phone. If I play music again then I have to restart the phone again. I am missing too many important messages becasue of this.
Please someone confirm if this is a known issue or if there is any way to clear it.
If only Nougat has this problem, is it feasible to rollback to Marshmallow stock rom?
On a side note I also have few more bugs. I receive two notifications from every app. Fingerprint doesn't unlock my phone sometimes.
The zui 2.5.104 is quite buggy to use... No user prefers to use it... This problem of yours could be a bug ... Change the rom... Try some other custom rom like jaguar or crdroid or aex.... You will experience very minimal bugs or none and boost in performance too... But if you still want a stock experience then there is a chinese version of zui 2.5.412 available with very few bugs... Flash it and enjoy... Good luck

hi, i have the same problem, hmm kinda, i just open a thread telling what my problem is about, could you test if your notification sound stops working when during a call while youre getting mesages

and zui 1.9.044 is the only fully working rom you can find (from zui versions)

I think I also have this problem... But I'm not sure if notifications sound disappeared after few messages in messenger fb , or is the music playback making that sounds disappear.
I uninstalled messenger today , listen also music, going back and fourth from silent to regular profile, and notifications sound didn't disappear. Maybe the culprit was Messenger. I will test more. I'm on franco86 v15 2.3 Chinese rom as a base.

yes, first chinese mm rom, im currently using it, its the only zui version which doesnt have tones during calls when receiving messages, so it doesnt mess with my notification sound, if you use zui 2.0.xxx + version, pls check this:way to reproduce problem: make a call and start sending lots of messages from another phone to zuk, during the call which zuk is making,put it on speaker so you can hear the tones, eventually the tones will get messy, then hang up, send another message, done, no more notification sound.

Maybe thats how it happend to me and also to OP of this thread. I will test today and report back. I'm staying on this MM for ZUK, Nougat is plagued with some bugs which i dont like . Hotspot being most imortant for me, than GPS and also double notifications...
Im waiting for stable Gizrom 3 from FRANCO86, he didnt fix those problems in last release, maybe they are hard to fix...
I was thinkig about Jaguar also...

jaguar works as good as aex 4.6 man and so do viperos and crdroid all the same, but fingerprint sensor wont unlock phone sometimes, and camera is dark when recording, i really wish a dev could take a look into this problem of notification sound, im so near to figure out, like i said im 92% sure its the tone during a call when receiving a message that mess with the notification sound, like it were desconnected from the system, zui 1.9.044 doesnt have those "tones" therefore no notification problem, but FS is not thta good in the pocket to prevent accidental dial, and facebook and messenger crash all the time, only facebook lite work normally

You are talking about custom ROMs and notifications sound or only Zui?
I tested and for now notifications stay on after listening of music and also during calls when notifications arrive. Sound can be heard but that doesn't affect notifications. I sent from other phone few notifications. Didn't bombard it though.
Yes camera is always drawback on custom ROMs. But I read camera blobs help a lot, you get almost same quality as on stock? Did you tried also camera blobs? If you were using aex 4.6 than they are built in.

only zui has that problem, you need to bombard it so the tones get messy just a few messages doesnt make it stop thou, and yes i tried everything, motorola moto g4 gen camera is the only one without the dark camera bug, but focus sucks badly, dude this notiofication problem gotta be general, cos on zui 1.9.044 it doesnt happen to me, only if i update zui to 2.0.xxx and above

Man now I bombarded my phone with 50 notifications during call and notifications sound stayed good. I think in my case I had problem with fb messenger.
Because I also have fb lite and they where coming up simultaneously.
Also I set manually sounds in every app ...
Did you try to use Google camera? Or the one from opo?
For now I'm staying with this rom 2.3 by Franco , beside one time loosing notifications sound this rom works perfectly

For me this is great rom.
Of course I would like Zui 2.5 with latest security patches but this will be available in Gizrom I think (same developer, franco86), hope they will fix nougat bugs.

i wish any zui didnt have that notification issue im facing so sad man, im almost trading off for a mi note 3 with way lower specs, i cant find a solution to my problem , gonna test 2.3 by franco now, ill let you know

I tested last night with almost 50 notifications, sound for notifications didn't disappear.

when i use zui 1.9 notification works normally, 1.9 is the one which crashes from time to time, any other updated zui the problem show up, did you put your device on speaker so yu could hear the notification tones? i dont know what to do man, im so sad , i spent 800 buck(brazilian money)=270 dollars, the problem ios present in franco76 zui 2.3 and franco76 zui 2.5 i doubt this is a hardware problem, cos on custom roms it works perfectly, only zui screw me up :'( do the test send messages from messaging app, pls

do you have any idea to prevent messages from making sound(not sound tones) while im on a call? with root or any app that requires root?

I've been wanting to install CM for a while now, but after looking around it seems that the camera related stuff is very dependant on some proprietary stuff so it tends to freeze on CM and cause the phone to reboot - does that happen very often? I believe it should be stable on milestone versions, but I just want to double check.

Well I'm not sure what you have been reading but the camera issue does not force the phone to reboot. You do however have to rebooted yourself if it fails to connect.
However there is a fix/workaround on Google play, just remember to follow instructions or it wont work...

Am I right in thinking that CM based on Lollipop is several months away? I thought about waiting but if that's the case then I think I'll go with CM11.

Could be yes but you will likely see other nice AOSP based roms before then.

Try version 4 of this fix for cm. After flashing i had "can't connect" error completely gone.
Still i find photo quality much worse than stock rom.

I've just updated my z1c from 4.4 to 5.1.1 and everything is fine with it...
I just have few things to ask for:
1) it seems that app icons on home are bigger than in KK. Isn't it? If yes, is there a way to make them smaller, with gravity box or other mods?
2) while watching videos or photos in full screen mode on facebook, chrome and other apps, status and navigation bars don't disappear. I remember that before updating they did, but i don't remember if it was due to some function of GB or other mods. What do you think about it? Is there anything i could do to make it happen?
3) which sound mod could you advise for a volume increse with minimum quality loss?

1) Serajr Xperia Xposed has an icon size adjustment, (maybe GB too, not sure). See screenshot- I set it to 50.
2) Mess around with 'immersive mode' in GB > display.
3) not sure about sound mods...

Yes, it works, but for example in Facebook Just when i open a photo or a video, it stop working and status and Navigation bars appear again

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not perfect across all apps. Another option is called 'app settings'. It's similar, but has more options to set per app. I don't use FB, so I couldn't help w that...
Is it worth to update from KK to LP? I mean did you see some improvements in performance aside to UI and other LP's releated things? I need a suggestion bc I'm very attempted to update but I don't wanna end as a my friend who saw her G3s inexorably die after the update.

Stagefright fix, ultra stamina mode.
Probably other things, but this is what's new IMHO.
If you update, be ready to deal with less battery (but the gap isn't that huge).
Z1C is very snappy with this update, it won't die now for sure !

Stragefright doesn't scare me so much because I generally don't download any MMS that I receive LOL
So, in the end, I guess I'll stay with this wonderful KK.

I meant less battery life in normal mode of course
I guess it should be at least one week with USM enabled, this could be an interesting test btw !

But it's enough disabling "auto-retrieve MMS option" (that is in every reliable messaging app, like Google's Messenger) to make stragefright bug completely harmless
As regards USM... well, if it actually extends battery life to one week, maybe I have to revalue the update. Has anyone tested it? I guess there's no porting on KK because it relies on "Ultra power safe mode" introduced with LP, am I right?

Hard to say... I don't see nothing really better.
Maybe i like layouts and some aspect of lp more then in kk, but for others is exactly the opposite.
The system seems faster, but it's still hard to say because i was on the same rom since One year and now i've a total wipe. Battery life is worst, but not too much. USM is fantastic, but I use it only if i have low battery without the possibility of charging for long time, because you can use only few functions with it.
Maybe i'd do the update again if i could come back (surely with root), but without any strong reason.

I really thought they fixed the notifications not showing up in 8.9.20, however - Hangouts Chat, Allo Chat, probably others... do NOT show notifications of ANY kind. The screen will just light up if you have ambient notifications turned on , but nothing in the notifications bar, no sound, no vibration, NADA. You have to open your apps to see anything. I guess they only fixed MMS and GMAIL notifications not showing up on the lock screen and didn't care about anything else. "OK GOOGLE" is STILL not able to activate, and SIM CARD ACTIVATION STILL has to be manually muted because it never activates -nor needs to. I realize this is 'Developer' Beta, however -we need the basics fixed before adding anything extra or fixing cosmetic issues. I'm beginning to think our phone will be obsoleted before we get a functioning ROM with the BASIC NECESSITIES for a PHONE.
any idea how to turn off the battery saver ?

Yes I agreed with you, they are not fixing the crucial bugs for daily drivers. And yet they are adding more bugs than ever. You can read my review on this update here. Pretty disappointing.

I fixed the Allo by unregistering my phone number and then readding this. However this will delete all your conversation history...
Edit: aaand it stopped again, back to stable it is.

The fact is that beta-tester in beta-team are really noobs. And i dont say it to flame but because i've read some post they made like this:
"my Mi8 now in Miui10 Global Beta and bootloader unlocked, How can I install miui10 stable and relock the bootloader?

I agree with you brother, some beta tester looks really dumb and didn't suit to be one. I've also tried helping Mi 8 community by posting reviews, reporting bugs over MIUI forum and already applied to be beta tester but till now no reply from them.

There is a strange issue, every time I make a call, the speaker seems to be enabled on default and clicking on it to disable speaker mode seems not to be working. In other words every call is on speaker mode. One more thing there seems to be no option for advanced reboot as root access is disabled also there is no oem unlocking option under developers options, so how can I get root access? My volume down key is broken so I can't use Power+V.up+V.down key, any suggestion would be appreciated. Other than that everything is smooth and fast a real pixel experience indeed. Thank you

Provide logs ... And to restart use USB debugging and use the command on the PC "adb reboot-recovery or bootloader".

The last build causes bootloop.
The sound is at the max volume always whenever I play something..even when I have set it to the lowest or also when it is disabled...please fix.. otherwise it's a smooth rom?

As of now , it's not good for daily use.
No any camera app working fine for me
Calls can only made via loud speaker.
But atleast try out once to taste the ultimate pie experience.
It's really awesome and cool. Best UI I've ever seen on g4 plus.
New Android Pie update came up, might be stable this time and hopefully not like the Max Pro M1
For Oreo users = 1.6GB
For Pie Beta users = 410MB

Getting error in installing the update ... I have rooted my phone before and for installing the update i have unrooted and installed stock recovery. Even i am getting the ota update but getting an error while installing the update.
Is this because of rooting my phone ?

Gcam is working perfectly fine even after update. No issues. Seems like camera2api is enabled.

I dont see a pill itself, my nav buttons are same like old.
I have updated. Looks a lot buggy. I cannot find Digital Wellbeing in my settings. There is a circle on the home button which looks ugly. Animations looks laggy at times.

Update done.
Home screen is a bit laggy, ASUS keyboard is also glitching. Its picking the letter below the one being pressed if clicked anywhere other than top most border.
edit : compatibility issue with asus keyboard app. key press is a bit messed up. no issue with stock google keyboard. sony album app compatibility issue. unable to delete images. nothing happens after pressing delete. sony music is working nicely though.

They didn't add digital wellbeing as a system app, but you can install it using apk. Install Pixel Shortcut from play store to open the app
