Help me select a custom rom - Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Questions & Answers

So I have an A6020 a46 phone and I decided to ask you guys about which one of the existing custom roms is the most stable and usable for daily use..

You have to be specific on criterias, I understand you need stability but do you prefer :
- having the latest version of Android
- being able to disable SIMs
- being able to use VoLTE
- playing at games
- having a long battery life...
You need to make priorities to these items, and then someone would be able to help you

Best ROM suggestion for XPERIA S...

Hey forum!
I'm looking for the best combination of some key functionality:
Stability
Camera (activate/snap with button as on stock ROM), is this possible out of stock ROM at all?
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) support but I guess that it is supported in newer ROM versions? Hardware should support it.
Most amount of memory/space available for apps, more than stock ROM possible?
Has to be Android 4.3 at least
Any suggestions of a good ROM which fulfills the above?
TIA!
If u want stability + camera + memory for apps and games then u need a ROM that is naosp 6.0 by mickybart's
but u need to reparation your device memory table to use this ROM

I have a couple of follow-up questions that I hope someone can answer quite quickly:
1. Should I choose version 5 or 6 (I just want the functions I listed and speed and stability are important)?
2. I understand that I need to re-partition the phone but does that apply to version 5 as well?
3. Is there a *complete* guide if you're on stock ROM and have done zilch/zero/nothing yet to the phone?
Thanks!

1. Choose version 6, it has more updates.
2. Nope, it doesn't apply to version 5.
3. You wouldn't find a complete guide in one place, but I can give You pointers here which will lead You to correct searches.
Rooting : use towelroot app. Not available on playstore, search for "towelroot by geohot". It will root Your phone.
Backup TA partition: backup Your TA partition using tool here.
Unlock bootloader : Link.
Then try following the guide from respective ROM thread to flash the ROM!
I am also in the exact same situation, before I start though I was wondering if there is a way to "easily" back up and restore sms messages & whatsapp messages (along with pictures, though I can copy all the pictures easily on the PC and restore them - but I am unsure if this places them back in the correct order etc) - the rest should be easy to backup and restore just not sure about these 2
thanks in advance
p.s. @verma.arun833 & @Mirhawk
as per the original post I am looking for the most STABLE rom out there to date that is android V4.3.1 or higher - I am also a complete noob too and the easier the better but priority is stability - is naosp 6.0 the best choice here still?
Yup naosp 6.0.1 is best and stable at the moment and updated tooo bro try that ?

You can backup Your sms using this app, I use it and it is the best so far. For WhatsApp, backup using the in app backup and copy the WhatsApp folder from internal storage of phone to PC. Then after flashing the new ROM, copy the WhatsApp folder back to internal storage, install WhatsApp and it will automatically restore it.
And yes, nAOSP 6.0 is still the preferred ROM as it is stable as of now and is receiving constant update. If You want extremely stable but above 4.3.1 ROM, then I would suggest last updated version of Carbon ROM(4.4.4). It is of KitKat version, but has many features and doesn't require re-partitioning of device.

Questions about CM14.1

Hello,
I have a few questions about CyanogenMod 14.1:
1. How is the overall battery life, better than Stock 7.0?
2. Is the blacklist for phone calls already available? (e.g. blocking unknown callers & blocking numbers that are not in my contacts.)
3. Are there any random reboots?
4. How is the performance?
5. Are some apps crashing (in the background)?
6. Is it stable enough for daily use?
Regards,
Rastan00b
C-Apps compatibility
Can someone also say if c-apps is compatible with latest nightly builds of CM-14 ?
Go to watchthis theard what's your favorite nougat Rom in help section
Since this is the first official release of cm14.1 battery life will need at least a few days of use to show any real stats. I am getting to flash it on my device and may report back here with some immediate findings.
It has just been released as an experimental nightly. What do you expect?
Sometimes I really wonder about the questions being asked here....

Is it worth installing CustomROM?

Hello,
I'm thinking about installing some CustomROM last days, but I'm a little bit sceptical about it. Is it worth loosing the warranty? My device is circa 6 months old so I don't want to mess it up to home-unrecoverable state (CEDRIC XT1676, 3/16, DualSIM). What are the biggest advantages and disadvantages of installing CustomROM?
Also, I have some requirements (they're sorted by importance - first one is the most important, the last one is less important)
- it has to be faster and more stable than StockROM - it's the major reason I wanna install CustomROM
- I need Moto Actions (at least double shake to turn on the light) to be working
- I need DualSIM to be working too - if only one SIM would work on DualSIM phone, the phone would lost a part of its potential
- in-built camera app has to be working
- the more AOSP look (interface, launcher, font, animations etc.), the better it is for me
- it should be built on Oreo (8.0/8.1 - doesn't matter) - I think that putting a Nougat CustomROM is a step back these days when a lot of stable CustomROMs for G5 were already released
Is there any ROM that can fit my requirements? Thanks in advance.
Read the rom features and requirements on the first post of the rom thread
This will also include what is or is not working
There is also a thread answering your question about advantages/disadvantages & it was only on page 1 of this Q&A thread so please search before posting
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/help/rooting-flashing-advantages-t3781467
I know, I can find working/non-working list in every thread but I want an opinion by someone who changes or was changing ROM more often than socks I mean by someone, who can compare custom with custom (which fit my requirements) and stock with custom (again, with one that fit my requirements).
It's very rare for stock camera to be working on oreo, though footej works just fine.
When it comes to the speed, it depends more on the kernel and what tweaks you have applied rather than the rom itself, though of course, a less bloated rom will always be at least slightly faster.
If you want speed, I recommend installing l speed, you can choose between favouring battery life or performance.
no it's not worth it my moto g5 is hardbricked caz i flashed a stupid 64 bit rom and no one was able to return to stock rom after flashed these 64 bit roms becase if you returned to stock without losing imel like me you will eventually lose imel when you update you stock rom if motorola sends you an ota
so you want a custom rom ; flash a 32 bit one or don't flash one at all

Miui vs android versions

Hi guys I know android version matters but I had a doubt that . Does miui does the job or is android version very necessary cause I use custom ROM havoc os for now but I want a stable software and if I install miui 10 will I miss something and miui too has some features and I quite miss it on custom ROM .
But I wanted to know that weather custom ROM is safe to use for a longer time as I don't want to lose data and not interested in changing ROM frequently and as miui gets on updated every now and then is there any difference or it's just the same
I was a long time android user and if I found a rom that did what I needed and was stable I did not continuously update unless I had bugs.
Usually the new features or fixes are minimal unless going between android versions - marshmellow to oreo for instance..
I am now using Miui, other then the screen layout it is pretty much the same. not seeing anything different in my day today usage other then I have started using gestures and full screen (so no navigation bar at the bottom but still have the status bar at the top).
There ARE a couple of things I need to resolve - ads in the file manager (will look to stop that, or see if a 3rd party manager removes them). but give them a go and see what works for you..

Looking for Custom ROM focused on privacy

Hi all,
I'm new on this forum, so thanks for your help!
I'd like to install a custom ROM focused on privacy to avoid personal data leaks and spying. There seems to be plenty of options out there so I dont know which one to choose, and if it'll work on my phone.
I use:
- Lenovo vibe K5 plus A6020a46
- Android version 5.1.1
- Material version H201
Also I wonder if normally available apps will work on a custom ROM: I use quite a few apps for work and want to make sure I can keep them with me after I switch to a custom google-free spy-free ROM (xpl: spotify, nordvpn, tutanota, Mega, wordreference, Qwant...)
Any advice on ROMs and how to proceed (Can I just use TWERP?) is very welcome!
Thanks
Basically Stick to STOCK ROM and install privacy securing apps like NordVpn and Avast. I never saw any custom rom with focus on privacy. They're mainly made for either Battery Life increase or Performance.

It does work. If it doesn't let you install it, it's because you are on custom rom, but Magisk has a tweak to bypass it ( It modifies liboemcrypto.so) So it tricks Play Store into thinking you're on stock rom/without root. Else, if you still can't install an app it's either because your version of android does not support it ( you must be on a newer version, seek installing it through custom rom) or because it is made for a specific phone ( with another architecture, etc..) If the custom rom doesn't have play store, you'll need to reflash it and then flash also Gapps: https://opengapps.org/ . Also don't forget to factory reset after flashing a new ROM.
