Has anyone tested any particular cables or adapters with this tablet.
Seems like all cables aren't created equal and some could be dangerous to the unit or adapter.
I'd like to have a spare apart from the one send with the tablet.

Someone reported here that they tested a fast charging setup, but didn't give details of the charger or the cable. The only danger is when trying to implement the Type C USB port charging functionality, such as charging in either direction and the higher optional current of 3A. Since the Type A to Type C cables fall back to USB 3.0 or USB 2.0, you don't have to worry about those types of cables or adaptors I think. The danger is the Type C to Type C cables, and I don't have an answer to that. Keep in mind we don't even know if the N1 itself is fully compliant with the Type C specs.
Review/Comparison between Choetech USB Car chargers QC3 USB (Tc002) & USB C (c0051)
(Note this is tested on HTC 10 with a choetech USB C cable)
USB QC 3 charger (Model tc002)
This is a nice little charger, small form and built well. It has a little led in the middle to let you know it has power/is charging. It also comes with usb c cable which is a nice addition.
It has 2 ports, one with a blue strip around it to let you know it’s the “main” QC 3 port. This port gives off 9.1v with 0.83a. The phone recognised this as QC3 and displayed the “charging rapidly” sign.
The 2nd port has no strip around it. It gives off 5v and 1.9a, so will charge slightly slower but still for an in charge charger will charge most phones well.
USB C QC 3 charger (Model c0051)
This is a nice little charger like the above, very similar build wise the only difference being the ports themselves. Please note no cable was provided with this charger. The led also changes from blue to green when charging.
It has 2 ports, 1 usb c and 1 normal USB (USB A). The normal usb port also looks reversible which is a nice added feature. The usb C port requires a USB C to USB C cable.
The normal USB port gives off 8.8v and 1.5a. The phone did recognize this as QC3 and displayed the “charging rapidly” sign.
The usb c port I was unable to read due to not having the right connector to read volts and amps, so I used an inbuilt amp to read the charging speed (Ampere). This read as 1800mA which as comparison is around the same as the official HTC charger that came with my HTC 10. The phone however did not display the “charging rapidly” sign
Conclusions
Both are very good chargers and both available at a reasonable price. If I were to pick one I would pick the 1st USB QC 3 charger (tc002) simply because I feel the double usb a ports give you more options when charging
So since Quick Charge 3 isn't technically spec for USB C, none of the Benson Leung cables will ~actually~ charge at full Quick Charge speed, correct? Is there a consensus on the best quality cable that will charge at full speed, preferably USB 3.0/3.1? It looks like a lot of the cables with the 56k ohm resistor in it don't hit QC3 speed and I just don't want to fry my phone.
What's wrong with the cable that comes with the phone?
The one for the nexus 6p is the best I've used. I've used the lg G5 one but not the one that it comes with

The problem with the one that comes with the phone is it's only USB 2.0 I believe, and they're $20 cables. There's got to be better cables out there than that that are USB 3.0.

I was a bit surprised to find out that the Pixel 2 doesn't come with a transfer cable, and the only adapter is USB-C to USB-A. Luckily I still had mine from the original Pixel XL, but it was odd that Google didn't include one. Just a heads up for those who haven't received there's yet
That adapter allows you to use your old charging cable to transfer. Adapter into the Pixel 2, old charging cable into adapter and into old phone

I was surprised as well to see no USB-C to USB-A cable included. I also used mine from my original Pixel XL, but Google's cables are of such high quality that I would have loved to have another.

Correct, but this post isn't really about the adapter. It's about Google including one less cable versus last year. The original Pixels included the adapter, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-A cable. The USB-C to USB-A cable is not included with the new Pixels.
And like the new Pixels, some phones these days only come with a USB-C to USB-C cable. The included adapter doesn't help in that situation. Very few devices fall into that scenario, but it still could happen.
The original came with the adapter too? I don't remember that

It did indeed. I've used it frequently for USB OTG.
FYI, you cannot use a normal USB-A cable and the C-to-A adapter and connect your Pixel to a PC. It will not allow you to charge or connect to transfer files.
Really sucks, because I used this at work a lot with my original Pixel XL. Something changed with the new hardware and it prevents you from doing it. Luckily, I also have the original C to A cable that came with my XL.
Definitely a bummer for someone going from iPhone to Pixel 2. Now I have zero cables I can use to charge my new phone in my car. I left Apple because I was tired of being forced to buy extra things to do basic stuff so a little irked that I need to buy a special connector for car charging. Anyone have recommendations on a good cable that will actually work for both charging and data transfer?

There are heaps of good USB C to USB A cables out there. If you need one you can buy the google one from their store. Would have been nice to get one in the box, but I still have 3 lying around that I've used for previous type C phones.

No USB A-C cable supports 3A charging unless it is out of spec. Google's A-C cable does not support 18W charging.

Well the cable that I linked does have a 56kΩ pullup resistor, so it should adhere to the USB spec to prevent any damage.

Has anyone tested it to make sure it does though? I've seen several reviews from Nathan/Benson for cables that claim to have a proper resistor but don't.

That cable used to work with first pixel for fast charging but, does not work with pixel 2 I own 2 of them and was disappointed

I literally just got the cable today and noticed it's only saying charging. It should say "rapid charging" if fast charging is work correct?
Anyone confirm of a A-C cable that actually can fast charge?

I did bring up Accubattery and it will only charge at 1a even with a 2.4a charger, which is disappointing.
I received my phone yesterday and found this to be very annoying. I have a few questions:
-Is the USB-C on this phone 3.0 or 3.1 spec or just 2.0? I just assumed all these new phones had 3.0+ speed
-According to google store, the cable that comes with this phone is 2.0 spec ($20 effin dollars?). Is there a 3.0 spec cable that will work?
-Are there any third party cables out there that will fast charge and have 3.0+ spec? (of course 3.0 is pointless if the phone itself maxes out at 2.0)

You can use any quality cable. The only other brand other than an OEM cable that I trust is Anker, although I've gotten lucky with some (now discontinued) random name brands.

It is the OnePlus cable isn't a standard USB cable it is a propitiatory standard, that said any good quality cable should still charge the OnePlus phone but only at 15W (if memory serves).
Anker all the way for me as well, i cannot remember the last time i used the cable that came with a phone.
As mentioned by @MrBelter it's the OnePlus cable that's the issue.
I've had this cable for about 4 years (see link), and used it on the Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 4 XL, and Samsung Galaxy S21 with no issues...still using the same came on my P6P.

OnePlus either uses firmware within the USB connector, or a specific resistance value to determine if the cable is an OP cable and it's likely they do so to limit legal liability from users who unintentionally try to push 3A - 5A through a cable not designed to handle current that high.
Folks have unintentionally used shoddy USB cables to charge a smartphone that resulted in the death of the user.
When folks speak about a "quality" cable, it's referring to the wire gauge of the cable, as it's the gauge of the wire that dictates how much current can safely pass through the wire without causing it to overheat from the high resistance caused by pushing more current through the cable than the cable is designed to carry.
A quality manufacturer will list the gauge of the wires within a USB cable and if a listing doesn't have the wire gauge listed, my rule of thumb is it can handle no more than 10W (5V @ 2A).
