How to get the google camera for Xiaomi A1 without rooting or flashing? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I found the A1's camera pretty good sometimes, but the stock camera is quite useless, and no other 3rd party app seemed to be able to make good use of the camera.
Is there any way to get a good camera app, perhaps the Google camera, or the Samsung note 8 camera app?

U can't, u have to edit the build prop to enable camera HAL either it would not work.

In that case, how would you suggest on improving the camera? The camera hardware is itself quite capable, but the software is not upto the mark.

The answer is root lol, why u don't want to root it?

There is actually no root required for editing build.prop. You unlock the bootloader, then you can boot (not flash) the TWRP and mount system with W permissions. Pull the build.prop file, edit it and push it back to its place. Then you need to set the permissions of the file through the shell. As the last thing you can relock the bootloader and have the edited build.prop file without having the root.
Google it and you will find the guide.
I tested it myself. It works.

Safer option is to use a Magisk module which does exactly the thing but without having to add the lines into build.prop manually and setting the permissions etc

Does not work. After downloading the proposed update I get installation error at the very beginning. Maybe after restoring the build.prop file the same way as I modified it, it might work.

Once you mount the system as read/write, you can't apply OTA. This is why it's better to use Magisk instead of altering system files directly.

Hey there!
I just joined XDA for the sole purpose of finding this tutorial that I have seen floating around the web lately. But unfortunately, every website has a different version of how exactly this should be done. Do you know where I can find the exact steps to take in order to edit the build.prop without having to root my phone and without losing the OTA updates?
Cheers!

If u edit build.prop means u will break OTA. 100%

just root guys using magisk safetynet pass through.
under magisk hide , chose the apps if you face issue against root, it will open

Hi,
Rajeev is right. You can edit the build.prop this way. And it is going to work. But you are gonna loose OTA, because you need to mount system with write privileges through TWRP in order to modify system file.

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader, root, make some minor modifications (activation of camera api, copying fm radio apk to system folder, etc), unroot, and finally relock (flashing stock boot.img before, of course) ?
I want to have it unrooted because of bank payments, banks apps and streaming TV apps, but I would like to have proper camera and fm radio... Is it possible??

no

How about rooting the phone with Magisk and use Magisk Hide to hide root from those apps?

Htf do you think miui camera is useless. I am a photographer. And find it quit usefull and makes full use dual lens. Have you even tried HHT? Never compare two different apps. HDR+ is google's algorithm. You won't get in miui camera. HHT is miui's thing. You won't get in Gcam. Anyways HDR+ is not mandatory, you can get it from any post processing app.

A1 camera is superb in Day light only. It can't beat Google Camera in very low light. Everyone trying Google Camera here for getting Selfie Portrait mods. That not available in A1 camera .. I am not a photographer. But i can tell as a normal user in low light Google Camera perform really better than A1 camera. May be some 3rd party apps can do that but someone loves Google Camera

Getting android pay to work while rooted

It did work for me too, is annoying now , now the phone has to have a lock screen set up. Google Wallet had better . It does look better to the eye though
For now, there is no guaranteed way to maintain both root & use Android Pay. XDA featured an explanation on the portal that was offered by one of Google's security engineers. It's fairly straightforward, if disappointing for anyone who wants both.
Mine stop working after a day ,
I just uninstall it , I was happy cuz it was annoying having the screen lock with a pin or pattern

has anyone tried dirty flashing a stock rom setting up android pay then dirty flashing back to the wanted rom?
Hello
any 6.0 versions out there with integreated Android PAY ?
I get it to add cards by:
chmod 751 /su/bin
then
renaming xbin_bind folder
As far as working haven't tried it yet
what do you rename to the xbin_bind folder to? doesn't seem to be working for me

Anything but xbin_bind.
I'm wondering about this too. I guess in the meantime I could always get a contactless credit card and superglue it to the back of the phone. To emulate the NFC effect, I could just turn on the torch.

Looking to be pointed in the direction of a root for Galaxy Tab A6 sm-t280

Hey guys,
Been searching for a few days now ive tried several root methods
the ones from playstore like
Kingroot
Kingoroot
Kingoroot desktop
Its a galaxy tab a6 running android 5.1.1
Build number LMY47V.T280XXU0APB6
All of the above say they can root it but they all failed
I have seen posts on forums such as this one offering custom roms for the device so I must assume there is a root somewhere and I just cant find it.
Any help would be extremely apreceated

Hello ashyx
I have the sm-T285m. Yes, I could not root it using the usual programs out there. Any way to inject root into the system image and then reflash it through odin? (as you mentioned you have managed to debloat it-maybe a dumb question as am sure you already looked into it) I recall trying to do such a thing on Huawei Mediapad x2 when there was no root but ran into issues after I accidentally overwrote my entire windows o/s and disk with linux and then gave up (had to extract files from image, add the su then recompile something like that?...from memory over a year back and was only my first and only foray into linux) The odin tar files are separate ones for modem, system, bootloader etc.
Thanks

I already tried prerooting the system image.
It wont boot because the boot.img needs to be patched and you can't patch the boot.img on a bootloader locked device.
I even asked Chainfire if there was any other way and he said no.

Thanks Ashyx...you mentioned you managed to debloat it. I tried ext4unpacker (maybe archaic now though recall it worked on 5.0.2) to separate the system.img into components but could not. I am interested in editing system image
(A) change dpi (increase the lcd density to 380 or so to get things bigger),
(B) change system font (put in a preferred ttf font),
(C) remove many unneeded (for me) google apps from the system folder, and
(D) enable mobile data auto on off for mms via the features.xml or others.xml. Do you think these could be done (you already mentioned the debloat).
typically i managed to get all of the above done if rooted.
Any advice appreciated on how to do this unpacking and repacking.
Thanks
does this help? opensouce kernel?
(again maybe preaching to the choir but thought I'd ask-not knowledgeable here but posting if it helps in getting to a semi-rooted type state somehow)
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=sm-t285
btw i 'managed' to get oem unlock to show as checked permanently...does that mean the bootloader is unlocked now? (cross flashed through odin the 285 on my 285m the system CP file...and reverted back to 285m-no difference though in network as modem was still 285m as was partition and BL-reflashed the BL as well separately for 285m-after all this shows oem unlock checked-when i got the device new it was unchecked)
edit...from what it appears, it means it CAN be unlocked, yes? but not actually unlocked?

It wont make any difference. Enabling OEM unlock doesn't unlock the bootloader.
You still wont be able to flash unsigned boot or recovery images.
It will only allow you to flash an unsigned system image.
I use Ubuntu to mount and edit Ext4 images.
You can use the windows or Linux version of simg2img to convert the sparse image to raw then mount in Linux
Tbh Samsung need to provide an unlock for this device like they do for the Chinese devices as there is no reason why this device should have a locked bootloader.

No way to backup.
Xperifix works only in OREO at the moment, you need to downgrade your phone with my uploaded firmware.
But after taking one shot with the camera in Oreo, you can upgrade to PIE and still use the camera.
But then, without the drmfix, the noise reduction will be deactivated.
You will get the same camera quality like on AOSP without a GCam port.

As I suspected then. Unlocking the bootloader is easy on Xperia devices, keeping drm's (with the downsides of loosing them) are not ? I'll keep it locked until there's a way to back it up or drm-fix work for this device ?

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place, but I have a question...
What if I want to use TWRP purely for backup functionality on XZ2 compact? No intention to install any custom roms yet.. no need
Is it possible to simply have TWRP only for backups? I do not even plan to root it.. is something like that possible without breaking something? Like DRM for camera etc?
Thanks.

Hello
After unlocking bootloader and flashing twrp (starting from stock 163). Are we still able to receive ota updates from sony?
It seems there is a new(er) 202 version available but if a click ond device's update-check nothing happen.
Is is possible to update via another mechanism or as from now only custon roms?
With unlocked bootloader you need to update via newflasher. You can get the firmware with Xperifirm. You'll find both tools here on xda website.

Hello,
I own a XZ2 Compact (German version) and I want to root it. Is there a way to get root access with the latest build (52.0.A.8.25)???
After hours and hours of reading, trying, flashing etc. I com to the conclusion: This is quite difficult! Maybe anyone can help me with it.
At the moment I unlocked the bootloader and 52.0.A.3.84 is the build nr.
the code
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
leads to the following message
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery twrp-xz2c.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (34140 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.806s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: No such partition.)
finished. total time: 0.820s
After some looking/reading I found a thread that there is only one partition in pie, is that right?
So is there a way to have a second (recovery) partition?
Thx for any help!
It's not difficult at all, just follow the instructions in this thread (3. post). Downloads are also linked there.
Works like a charme.

Need to root an Android 8.1 mirror

Hello all,
I have an Android 8.1 based DVR mirror for my car and I need some assistance gaining root access into it. The mirror was bought on Amazon and has an ASN of B07QM1RHC6 and is described as TOOGOO 219865. In the software it says it is a QcTech HMSA5E. Here is what I know about the device:
- It is based on a Spreadtrum SC9832e
- The software version is QC_HMSA5E_A5_966_Media_Sleep_2019090919
- OTA update is provided by fota.redstone.net.cn
- when I open an adb shell my prompt is sp8541e_srvm
I also have the partition layout. Under the developer menu there is an option to enable root over adb, it is protected by a four digit pin.
I would appreciate any help gaining root access either via the pin via some hack door.

Hello all,
I have an Android 8.1 based DVR mirror for my car and I need some assistance gaining root access into it.

Hi, did you have any luck rooting your mirror? It sounds like I have basically the same mirror although mine is sold under the name Bluavido. I've tried several apps and adb to root mine and all have failed so far. My guess is its the same four digit adb root privileges pin that is locking out the root process. In my case I'm just wanting to replace the awful bootanimation.zip with my own images.
Cheers Rich
Hi, Have you managed to make any progress regarding root? I tried several apps (Kingoroot etc) with no luck and was unable to guess the pin code using the usual codes (1111, 5555, 0000). Mine is similar in specs to yours except mine has a Spreadtrum SL8541E processor. I purchased mine off wish and would like to change the KM/H to MPH along with remove some default apps.
I've tried hooking it up to my PC but even that has been a pain (Driver issues) and the device refuses to switch from charging to PTP.
Cheers Nick
Post Update
Unfortunately I have not yet gained root access to the device. I was able to grab an "OTA" update, and it looks like the full system but I have not had much time to dig into it.

Could you post a link to a copy of the update? I was able to access fastboot mode using a terminal emulator which should allow me to flash the image onto my device

There is firmware from Bluavido 12 QC_DMSA5E_A5_116_Media_Sleep_2019102419__2019102419
Hello, I am also interested in root on this device.
I have yet to purchase it however, how is your experience with it? is the display quality any good? There are a lot of random sellers with 0 reviews trying to dump these.
Thanks.

Root no, it's problematic to do. Apparently lock the bootloader. I tried to patch boot using Magisk, the firmware then does not flash.
* The display is good, the cameras are shot at 4, CarKeeper works. GPS does not work stably when 4g Internet is turned on. Telephone communication does not work, it is disconnected. In short, you need to do custom recovery and ROOT

ADB root pin is: 2846
I also try to root my device. Any clue how to get the device sucessfully rooted?
I try to replace some ADAS sounds from the Zqcamera app, but its a /system/app/ZqcCamera/ZqcCamera.apk which is signed and I could not get it replaced with a customized apk with replaced mp3/wav/ogg files.
Has anyone an idea how I can edit a system app and replace the resources? Over ADB root shell I could not get it to work to patch the system adas camera app.
Any help or hint would be great!

[Updated] [Realme UI] 90 FPS Enabler for Third Party Apps

Changelog V1.3: Added support for BGMI.
Hey Friend,
This is a magisk module which can be used to enbale 90fps for Third Party Apps in Realme UI. After flashing this module you don't need to run that adb command on every reboot. Flash this and forget.
Note: This is used to remove the restriction put by oppo in lastest updates. This does not change the normal behaviour of the apps..
Great. Hope there is a solution for rootless devices too.

not at all it will never come , i made worst for waiting ota updates which are not unstable some time for the phone
but im trying some other way to force 90hz via terminal
For some reason it doesn't work 100% for me. Apps like Poweramp and 9gag for example are 60fps, which is weird cause Poweramp used to run in 90 for me even without the mod.
I need to know supported magisk module link?

yes magisk needs unlocking
I tried multiple methods to force 90hz without root. but those dicksuckers have black listed package names and activities in system. so it seems impossible to force 90htz without root as of now.

Hi, I have raised bug report about natively supported games which were not able to reach 90fps!!. They completely capped all the games to 60fps whether they will support like Odyssey altos, adventure or not supporting games natively by game developers like cod and pub... They didn't gave any kind of reply till now: they said today that they will revert within 24 hours and I am waiting...

Hi, one small doubt: after unlocking bootloader: do I need to change to custom for 90fps in gaming or i can get 90fps gaming in original Realme UI after unlocking bootloader with magisk.
Another doubt: if I unlock bootloader all my goign to be deleted or just only app data. I have done earlier on my previous phone long back (2 years ago) but forgot about this thing..
What about wide vine l1 supported, am I able get through process. As l1 changes to l3: any process get back after unlocking!!

1. after unlocking you can get 90fps out of the box in custom roms. But in RUI you need this module or a terminal command.
2.. after unklocking you are going to loose every data including files on internal storage and apps.
3. L1 is gone straight after unlocking bootloader. only way to get back is lock it again. ( risky process)

How to check 90Hz
Hi, guys. Just wanna check if module works for me and gives me 90Hz instead of 60Hz. Do you know any app solutions to check it out?
hi thanks for the mod!
I wanted to ask you one thing: does this mod also work in "smart" mode, or does it work only when you put 90hz from screen settings?
I hope I have explained myself well
