Contacting LeEco after phone just died - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Phone just quit charging the other day. No water damage or anything, it just died. Holding the power down trying to boot it after letting it charge for a while doesn't do anything. The phone is cold to the touch and I think it just went kaput.
No biggie, right? I have a warranty.
The problem is when I try to email or call them, I get nowhere. There is no response to any communication with LeEco. Does anyone have any ability to initiate a warranty claim and an RMA? I just need a replacement and am not looking for a refund or anything. I'm in the US.
Please help - I feel like I just lost $200 if I can't reach anyone over at LeEco.
Purchased the phone at Best Buy and in calling them they gave me a number that doesn't exist for support at LeEco.
Do I have any recourse with Best Buy?
Thanks in advance.

I am in the same boat, was trying to call them multiple times, but no response. Send them email also.

I dont know if you guys live in a humid climate or not but for the hell of it , put it in bag of rice seal good and let it sit for 24 hours can't hurt. Maybe moisture got in there

Have you try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-hard-brick-fix-qualcomm-hs-usb-t3492949
Good luck

Maybe you could submit a ticket to Leeco, from here: http://www.leeco.com/us/user/cutTicket.html

Phones don't die just like that, in your case, it's either the battery, or a hard brick, or a defective screen. You should better change the battery and try to flash stock software afterwards if battery doesn't work, then you go for the screen, also the chargers that LeEco provides are crappy so it maybe went "out" and afterwards you went out of battery, try to charge with a different cable and charger. Can't post links till i get to 10 posts, if you don't mind and if i was helpful click the thanks button .

Well the phone is in with some rice and a silicone packet thing that absorbs moisture. It never got wet before it died, but figured what the heck, I have no other options.
LeEco won't pick up the phone, nor return my emails or voicemails. Nice company!
@filippos96 - phone is fully stock and I've tried several different chargers. The phone doesn't get warm at all - like its not even receiving power. If I open it up to replace the battery that might not fix it if the issue is with a component before the battery.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. If anyone knows a shortcut to open an RMA I would greatly appreciate it.

It doesn't respond to ANYTHING? Like if you press the power button for 10+ seconds does it vibrate? Like it doesn't even show boot screen or smth? Need more info for a better diagnosis. Also, doesn't matter if the phone is fully stock, anything could have been a factor leading to hard brick, which is most likely your case.. It's like most certainly the battery or a hard brick, may be a bad screen, one of those 3 for sure though. I vote for hard brick and dead battery . Happened to me on my 1+1.. I had no hope that the phone was ever gonna be usable, though that the cost would be higher than the ceiling, it turns out that it was just 8$, a new battery.. I have much much experience with smartphones, used to run my own repair and sell shop. It's up to you if you wanna follow my advise for free, or visit a fellow repairman . If this was any helpful to you please make sure you click the thanks button so i can get better and more helpful .

No screen on at all. No charge light. Imagine a brick. This is similar.

Did you purchase your phone with a credit card? Most have extended warranty programs. I'd go that route and see if you can get your money back. They generally don't kick in until the manufacturer warranty expires but it looks like the manufacturer is out to lunch. Doesn't hurt to try.

Hi well my charger burned in the Le Eco Le Pro 3 while charging and now the phone wouldn't charge. Mind you it's and excellent phone and while my warranty comes to an end in October I can't get in contact with the manufacturer. It's really annoying because I only want that part fixed.
Has anyone managed to get in contact with them please help.

LeEco did a bit of downsizing. Read the history section.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LeEco

Legally, Best Buy should honor the warranty and most suppliers would.
For example, Just a month ago, I have returned one of my LeEco phones (5 months old) that was damaged by a faulty cable. and I received a brand phone under warranty.
Unfortunately, Best Buy is notorious for not honoring factory warranties or even their own Geek Squad extended warranties.
https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit...fails-honor-geek-squad-plans-full-warranties/
You bought a phone with a published warranty from a company that is still in business. Most likely Best Buy received extra margin to service the warranty themselves.
Squeaky Wheel gets the grease
Since you cannot reach the manufacturer , you should keep contacting Best Buy, stay on the line and do not take no for an answer, keep asking for the next person up and record the phone call ( they are recording you) if you keep pressing they may give in. Important, remain polite and professional. If you are rude, they will do nothing for you.
Persistence works -read the solution on this page:
http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-B...pany-s-Promise-of-Quality-Service/m-p/1116017
Alternatively, get another cable and try unbricking your phone by following the unbrick guide. ( its works but only if you have a x727 or a x720) Its also possible that you have a hardware issue like I did. Worst case you can buy parts for these phones on Ebay and Alibaba

Sorry to hear about your phone
Which charger were you using?

Hi, I purchased 2 LeEco Le Pro 3 phones, and both have broken down completely manufacturer's fault. One, the battery inside the phone started to expand and push out the front screen glass out of its edges. The other one, which I purchased as a backup, the screen auto rotate does not work. I think the sensor is broken.
Now, I have no way to contact the manufacturer for the warranty repairs, none of the contact info are working. I purchased the phones directly from the manufacturer LeEco Mall (just as OnePlus sells directly to the consumer), so I can't even try to return it to the distributor or the seller.
PS: how long is the warranty period on these phones?
PPS: is there a reason that many distributors are still selling the Le S3, and other models except for the Le Eco Le Pro 3? I can't even buy the Le Pro 3 any more. Anyone else having the same problems mentioned above?

Guys give up, we are ALOT of LeEco Le Pro 3 users who got this problem. Everything started from nothing
@tsongming did you heard any news? I can see that one more user killed his phone Are there more or just him ? This is too strange, since 1 month alot of phones died .... hmm

we have exactly the same, try to search our thread on it. One user fixed his phone by "re-powering" his battery. I bought another battery and nothing happend for my phone sadly.

Stock
Unfortunately, all of these recent issues are likely due to manufacturing. If you take a look you will find that quite a few people who never used a custom rom are also having these issues on stock. Probably alot of the issues are the battery. Ideally the battery should not go over 100F / 38C
For these cases a battery will likely resolve the issue, of course there is also the issue with burned ports.
Custom Roms
But many of the Roms made within the last couple of months are based on Pie and there are too many unknown factors, such as permissions being reset for unknown reasons, edited thermal settings reverting to default etc.
Recently we have seen chip damage. But the cause of chip damage has been found and resolved.
If you are reading this post and your phone is fine. Take every precaution to ensure that your battery stays cool and if on Pie make sure that you have the very latest thermal patch installed.

I can’t power up my device. Please Help!!!

I can’t power up my device. I burned ROM with “htc hermes Customized V1” by faria about 1 week ago and it worked just fine since. Today it just went dead – no reaction to power or reset buttons, the screen stays black. When I connected the power supply to it, the red LED went on for 5 sec and then screen went on as well (very bright white, no text or anything on it) and it stayed on even when I disconnected a power plug. The only way to turn the screen off was removing the battery.
If anyone has an idea what is going on please let me know. The phone is just three weeks old. Will I have a problem to replace it under warranty?
Thanks.
Will it go into bootloader mode?
No, it will not.
here is the thread you need. First give it a read, and then post the requested information in the requested format and the experts will be more than willing to help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755
I’ve looked at this thread for a minute and it looks to me that my case is different. These postings are dedicated to cases when devices went dead during unsuccessful burning of ROM. My device was working perfectly well after I burned the ROM for at least a week. I could be wrong, but I think that I have a hardware failure. Nevertheless, thank you very much for your advice – I am going to read this post tomorrow and will try to follow the steps of procedure.
Regards
Going out on a limb here, but are you using the charger that came with the unit, or a different (i.e. 3rd party, Motorola, etc) charger? My Wizard (RIP) displayed the exact same behavior if the battery dropped below a certain level and I tried to charge it with my car charger. Only the charger that came with it would give it enough juice to boot.
i had the same problem a few month ago. I sent it to the support and got a new device.
regards
But, have you had any problems with warranty when exchanged the device? I understand that ROM modification can negate warranty.
Thanks
Yes, most of what we do to our phones here voids the warranty. It really just depends on how close they check when you send/take it in. Some folks have managed to exchange phones that they broke, others have not. I've read somewhere in here that someone got an exchange phone right away, and then sometime later, when the repair center saw that they had been flashing the phone, they billed the person for the cost of the replacement.
Others can maybe suggest ways to try to cheat the system, I just accept the fact that if I break my phone I have to buy a new one. I knowingly and intentionally voided my warranty so from that point on the vendor is not responsible.

Has anybody else has Oneplus 3 die (dead)?

My Oneplus 3 has died. I put it on charge last night and this morning it wouldn't start. Totally dead. No LEDs or sign of anything even when I reconnected the charger. Has anybody else had this experience? I'm very sad because I was extremely happy with my purchase, in every way. I just loved everything about the phone.
Oneplus at first said I would have to send the phone back under the warranty, for inspection, and then repair. After protest, they agreed to replace the phone, but only because it was less than 30 days old. I am pretty sure this limitation does not comply with the British Consumer Rights Act. I still have to wait for a further email to say how to send return the phone. I am sure they won't action the replacement phone until they get the old one back. The whole process sounds like it will mean being without a phone for some considerable time. I will post again, with details of the time it takes. In the meantime it seems to me that the phone is great, and not just great value, but there is a big customer service disadvantage in dealing with a Chinese supplier. - Mike

Are you pretty sure or totally sure?
It does not sound totally unreasonable to me that they want to try to repair the phone without giving you a replacement phone.
But yes it sucks.
Try holding the power button for around 60 seconds. See if it boots up.

Mi 6 seemingly bricked after 3 mths, won't turn on/recovery boot, no water damage

I have a 3-month-old Xiaomi Mi 6 that was working perfectly until Friday. I took it off the charger at around 9am, and by midday it had switched itself off. Now it's basically bricked; no amount of charging or holding power/volume button combos can wake it up. It's not detected by my PC over USB and display/notification light stays off. I'm currently leaving it off the charger for a few days in the hope it's a hard software lockup that needs the battery to drain before it will reset and power on again, but I'm not hopeful. I haven't had any water-related incidents with the phone, about the wettest it's gotten is in my shorts pocket at the gym, but I don't sweat much so pretty confident it's not water damage. Anyone got any advice aside from sending it back to Xiaomi for repair?

I was reflashing my mi6 through the TWRP recovery and the process was stuck at 99%. I waited some amount of time and decided to "reboot" it. So I held down the power button and turned it off. Since then my phone doesn't react on the power button anymore. I have exactly the same symptoms like you described. In my case, it is my fault but I thought it should only update some files in the internal storage, nothing more. I'm puzzled how could it turn into the brick because of that. I expected that at least the screen would turn on.
Also, as far as I can tell, a charged phone can stay in the off state for months. I think you need to find a better way to drain its battery. You may try to connect an external HDD through OTG cable.
So, I was able to unbrick my phone. It was unlocked, so if yours is locked you probably need to disassemble it and put to the EDL mode with help of the tweezers. Try to connect your phone to the Windows PC. Windows 10 detects and installs Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 driver automatically. After that, you need to download MIUI ROM Flashing Tool and a fastboot ROM for Mi6 from here h t t p : / / en.miui.com/a-234.html. Unpack ROM's archive to some directory, open the Flashing tool, click "Browse" button, navigate to that directory, then click "Update" and "Flash" buttons. It helped me.
Thank you very much for the extra information. In the end I decided to send it back to Xiaomi for repair, but I'll keep your tips in mind for next time in case it happens again. Honestly though, this is a pretty huge design flaw if the phone does need to be hard power-cycled every so often due to an OS crash. I've been very underwhelmed with MIUI too, so I may end up just selling the device once I get it back and switching to the most popular Lineage OS phone of the moment.
A riveting update for those on the edge of their seats, turns out this was a fault in the mainboard and they had to replace the part. Wowee, what a plot twist! Phone is back in working order now.

great to hear that you have your phone back, did it really took 1.5 months to get your phone back?
Regrettably so. It was a combination of factors: I live in Australia and bought the phone from a Hong Kong eBay seller (everything takes 3-4 weeks between asia/Australia unless you pay for express shipping), and they had to send it back to Xiaomi's repair centre there, and Xiaomi had it for a week or two, so it all took quite a while to get back. The joys of buying a phone on the grey market. This is the one area that Apple service shines.

I think defects are normal with these high tech smartphones. Quality control cant see the small issues that manifest themselves into mobile deaths over time.
You have just found other like minded people with the same problem here.
People without the issue are staying quiet haha.
Companies usually just build in these defects into their projections and swap out the device when needed.
I think most people who have warranty issues with Xioami are the ones like me who buy through third parties.
So you have to return the phone to seller. They then return it to their supplier who then passes it onto Xiaomi for warranty.
That's where the long wait times come from for international owners.
I had more issues with Sony and even with warranty directly with Sony my phone was returned bent from a warranty covered screen replacement.
They fix one problem and create another. At least with Xiaomi I'm seeing people get the phone repaired and that's the problem solved
Did you think about EDL Recovery ?

honor 8 pro dead.

I dropped my honor 8 pro in water and it was been dead for some time, around 15 days. then one day I tried switching on and the power came on. I could make calls or receive messages but the camera and the fingerprint sensor were not responding. But when the phone goes into display off mode the display doesn't turn on again, unless I restart the phone. But the phone ringed if any call was made ,since the screen didn't display i couldn't receive the call.
So, gave it to a service center where they kept the phone for a month and then when I called them after a month they said the motherboard is dead and it will cost me 20k for a new one. i smell something fishy here. was my motherboard really dead? if so how come i could switch it on and even make calls? and why did they take 1 month to make the diagnosis? and does the honor 8 pro motherboard cost 20k?
please help.
Chances are high in motherboard damaged when drops in water . They will test in various aspects so it may took time nothing is fishy u purchase a new mobile rather giving 20k
Motherboard has all the parts attached one or the another way, they are may be right. Don't waste 20k on dead phone. Go for new one.

I had something similar happen to my phone it got water damage and went in lock mode 20 days later turned back on everything fine but a few days after wifi and booth stopped working in my case I would have to replace the wifi and Bluetooth module on the motherboard which is extremely hard to find for some reason, however, in your case, I think since u sead the phone still works, it just has calls problems u only have to change the communications board which tends to be a lot cheaper then the motherboard in most smartphones hower again this component is really hard to find and therefore can be quite expensive because there is a very low supply compared to the demand which is not huge. however, one thing that u can try which is not guaranteed to work but has a 50%chance is a chemical bath which the will provide in some phone repair centers

HTC 10 Battery Replacement by official service

Since the battery situation has reached a point of no return (under 1.5 hours of SOT, random restarts and bootloops under 50%) and since I won't have the opportunity to get a new device for the next year, I would really appreciate it if someone could share his/her experience with battery replacement via the official HTC service.
I can send my device to either UK or DE service points, so any specific experience with those would be ideal. Furthermore, I would really love to know if someone had any issues with sending their devices with an unlocked bootloader, or received them damaged or scratched, as this is the reason why I am still reluctant of sending my device (I have read some horror stories of devices returning scratched or with damaged screens).
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I would much appreciate the same info except that I'm in the US. Same exact battery difficulties. I've already bought a new device but I would love to keep this one operational as a backup if the battery can be replaced without ruining the device. All the DIY videos I've watched look like a nightmare.
Not in EU/US, so my experience might be different from yours (YMMV disclaimer)
Got my 10 in for battery replacement (last week of warranty left), and just got it back.
Don't try to replace the battery yourself, to be honest.
I send my phone in for only a battery exchange, and it came back with a new battery, and a new screen.
It's very likely to damage the ribbon cable while putting the phone back.
What I see from some other forums is, basically if you've had software mod, they won't warrant mainboard damage.
Haven't heard anyone had a damaged phone back from official repair though.
It costs around $40-50 for a battery exchange out of warranty IIRC.

Who did the battery replacement? In the US HTC won't replace the battery anymore. I contacted them last week and was told they no longer do it. I'm looking into third party solutions now.

Official HTC repairment center in Taiwan. However in my case my phone is still barely in warranty (a week or less). They covered all cost within warranty. Heard an out of warranty battery exchange is around $40-50.
Also, it seems that they also repair foreign htc phones, although at a additional cost of $35, plus whatever the replacement part costs.
If you're really desperate about your battery and don't want to risk it, maybe pay extra? Just sayin' , and not endorsing anything.
Maybe there's some 3rd party that will exchange 10's battery? Just make sure that they'll also change the screen if they damaged it.
Hey folks,
I live in Europe (France). I bought an OEM battery at a fair price from Ebay (I can find the link if anyone is interested) and had the repair done by a store nearby for ~40 euros (which is not so much considering the time it took them to remove the screen without any damage !).
Since the guys agreed to make the change for the same price, I also took the opportunity to replace the rear case, to a beautiful brand new red housing. Now my 10 seems like it just came out of the box, for less than 100 euros in total. I'm happy !
Exact same battery issues over here, but located in AUS. 3rd party repairer is having major issues locating a battery, so I'm going to try going through HTC. Wish me luck!
I just did replacement by myself with the battery that i bought from aliexpress.so far is the winner when i compare with My brother s 2 Yo Phone.i did HTCbattery test. Mine ended with 92% and his 80%
It's a very hard device to repair honestly. I sent my phone for a battery replacement and they accidentally messed up part of the screen(Im guessing they bent a part in the ribbon cable for the screen). I recommend you send it to HTC themselves or a very experienced shop with good reputation and don't try to do it yourself. I must say it does make a huge difference to have the battery replaced.
When i sent my phone in, it was completely stock afaik (it was unlocked and with a custom rom before); howerever, they installed a different version and relocked the bootloader as stated in the papers you sign. It just came back like it was out of the box except that the bootloader said *Tampered* and *RELOCKED* so they didnt restore the bootloader status.
I've got my HTC U12+ two days ago and when I got my 10 out of the case to swap sim cards I noticed a small bulge on the display (see photo). I guess my battery is a bit bulged or something, so I'd like to get it replaced. How should I go about it? I've already written the HTC support, since there doesn't seem to be a repair address or anything like that on the homepage. I am from Germany, so I could just return the phone to my provider, but they take 2-3 weeks longer to get it repaired...
Had battery issues with my HTC 10, it didn't last much, drained quickly and had random shutdowns above 30%.
Orderer a new battery from aliexpress, carefully removed the screen and replaced the battery.

Had battery issues with my HTC 10, it didn't last much, drained quickly and had random shutdowns above 30%.
Orderer a new battery from aliexpress, carefully removed the screen and replaced the battery.
It made a real difference!

Hi, I have the same issue with the battery. You say you removed the screen and replaced the battery. Do you have any tutorial or step-by-step description for this?
Thanks

I've got my HTC U12+ two days ago and when I got my 10 out of the case to swap sim cards I noticed a small bulge on the display (see photo). I guess my battery is a bit bulged or something, so I'd like to get it replaced. How should I go about it? I've already written the HTC support, since there doesn't seem to be a repair address or anything like that on the homepage. I am from Germany, so I could just return the phone to my provider, but they take 2-3 weeks longer to get it repaired...

To give a conclusion to this:
- I wrote the support and got a return label for a local repair shop (3rd party, but authorized by HTC)
- After I sent the device off, I got NO email confirmation that the device arrived, got repaired or got sent back
- Since Hermes is a piece of **** where I live, they never bothered to try to deliver the package.
- By pure luck I was at the Hermes packet pickup store for a different package from Amazon when I learned that I hat not only one, but two packages waiting for me.
- I assume total repair and delivery time was less than a week, but I have no idea how long the package was at the pickup store.
- The battery was replaced, but the glue around the screen was applied quite poorly, but since the device works again I don't really care.
- They didn't touch the OS. Bootloader was unlocked and a custom ROM was installed - no changes after the repair.

I watched a few of those tutorials. Just nope. I'm a bit clumsy by nature, and precision works like that are just a no-no for me. I'd end up having to replace nearly everything, because of accidentally damaged electronic parts.
My HTC 10 is about 1 year old, bought it brand new from aliexpress, so no warranty. Well ... They claim that they give 2 years warranty, but the hurdles that I'd have to go through to send it to them (took 2 months to arrive to me), with no guarantee that I'd get the same phone back when/if they repair it ... Let's just say that it has no warranty.
Luckily, it still has no major issues, apart from an echo problem. Whenever I call someone or someone calls me, whoever is on the other side hears a feedback of his/her own voice for about 30 seconds, then the echo disappears. I hear no echoes, only whoever is on the other side hears it, and only during the first 30 seconds or so of the call. There are no echoes/feedbacks if I turn on the loud speaker or use the earphones. I've been researching about this strange echo issue, and found no solutions. But I digress.
Long story short: I'm too clumsy to attempt a disassembly myself.
Also, it seems that the HTC support here is linked to a company called Regenersis, which I've read very bad reviews about. Since my phone has no warranty, I could search for a third party shop and supply them with the new parts. Although, if it becomes too much of a hassle or if they ask for too much money, I could always buy a new phone.

Sorry for the late reply, i used the tutorial in : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmL0mMmNBUM&t=566s&list=PLqrAW732T3e_8qLGBDX8YoCI2XWTDCQKW&index=2
Bare in mind that you have great chances of damaging your LCD during the operation, so do it at your own risk and responsability

Just one more question. I've watched this and several other videos repeatedly but there's one thing that's not clear to me. Did you have to use some kind of glue or adhesive tape when reassembling the screen?
In some videos they don't mention it and in another one they uses industrial mp glue (B7000?). I have read a lot about people using tape.
What worked well for you? Are there any pitfalls?
Thanks in advance.
