I did a factory reset,as I was about to RMA mine for an apparent blown top speaker.
However,a reset ,I suppose, did the trick, equal sound levels are coming out of each speaker now.
Dolby still seems to be meh,any differences are negligible to me.
This is one area that after-market development is sorely needed.
If the Dolby Demo can sound rich,I would think music from Google Play/etc.... would sound better than what it does ATM,whether from the external speakers,or,earbuds............

Ya, I noticed with my first phone that after the update it quieted down, but peaks still resulted in crackle. So my guess is either a higher than average fail rate or the eq got stuck high, in the preview mode when your finger is still holding it, before it settles back down to the median area.

does anyone notice that dolby switches itself off randomly.
every time i wanna listen to anything i havew to keep going in to switch it back on...really annoying

SJ Headphone Equalizer

Im having problems getting the headphone equalizer to work. It works fine for one song but as soon as the next track starts or if i skip forwards or backwards to the next or previous track it resets to flat. This happens if I set the equalizer then click OK and go back to the audio manager or if i start the song going and then change the equalizer and leave the equalizer running.
Anyone know if im doing something wrong or is it a problem with the equalizer?

Try this instead.. Install on device and soft reset..
Thanks for the cab. It works well but I prefer the sound of the 5 band equalizer without SRS.I listen to a lot of drum and bass and SRS boosts the treble too much.
Anyone else had any sucess with the SJ Equalizer?

I don't realy like it either sounds strange, perhaps it works better with the crappy headphones that came with the device but with a nice pair of phones it just sounds strange no matter how I set it up.
After searching another forum then getting linked backed to this forum I found Pocketmusic. It works great, looks great and sounds amazing.

Power Beats by Dre mic not working with HTX One X

The HOX has Beats Audio inside but somehow I'm not able to fully use my Power Beats with my phone as the mic work work most of the time. I actually got it to work once after resetting the device with the headset plugged in, but since then, nothing.
The original headset works perfectly, but still I would love to be able to use my regular headset with my phone. Any fix

well it should work without any problems but if you are rooted then you can try this mod:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692233
its effect is system wide and
u can also goto your music and play any song and then click on the 3 dots on top right corner after that you will find an option for sound enhancer
there you can choose beats audio or other options{ may be this option is on stock ROM also} u can try checking it
on and off
Hello all,
After a few more tries, here what I picked up: While plugging my power beats to the One X, the "headset+mic" icon could be replaced by the "headset" icon. When it's the latter, the mic works flawlessly. Whenever the "headset+mic" icon is displayed, then the mic won't work.
Weird, especially when it should at least be the other way around. The question is, what can cause my phone to recognize the same headset as a regular headset or as a headset+mic?

What is your Rom code? I think you are using AT&T or Tegra 3 Chip?
Is everyone aware of most beats (except for HTC editions) are made for iPhone and iPods? That means volume.buttons on there will not work, the Mic might work but since its not native to android there will be some bugs

I can't seem to find the ROM code ... @ZeroInfinity, I understand that and that's why i'd like to pinpoint the bug causing this and hopefully find a fix for it. If it wasn't working altogether I wouldn't even bother. But when it works then don't, I guess there's a logic behind it

No actual "rom" section mentionned
I opened a thread about the same problem not so long ago as I searched for a solution and not seen this thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860611
It only occurred when I updated to 2.17.. On 1.28 before hand the beats worked flawless! Just hope it's fixed in next update (miss my daily music!).. Works sometimes just takes a good few times (unplugging headphone/plugging in headphone) and have give up as i don't want to damage my audio jack!

Related issue. . .
So I have an HTC One X+ and powerbeats. My issues/question is this--can I completely disable the inline remote? Because when I wear mine in the gym, after a while (clearly related to perspiration/moisture) the music player will start to randomly skip to the next track. I love the sound/fit of the headphones but it's unbelievably annoying to have it just start to skip 2-3-4 songs at a time while I'm running! I don't need/use the mic/controls so I'd be happy to just simply turn them off.
Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

About the boombox, resonance chamber, earpiece and stereo setup possibilities.

I consider buying this, but the mono speaker is a huge dealbrealer for me, even with that resonance chamber.
Now my question is... Is it possible to activate the earpiece speaker for media playback? Like on the Nexus 5X, Galaxy S6, etc.
Like, the loudness of the resonance chamber will compensate for the quietness of the earpiece, but will still have stereo sound. Or at least dual mono.

Sorry but this is right now impossible. And it's still not know if the earpieces can handle this. Maybe in the future. But still the speaker is amazing if you can overlook the stereo feature missing.

Yeah, i've just tried it.
I clearly cant overlook the stereo speakers.
The one i tried was a demo unit and it had an extra feature, the abilitty to turn the boombox off.
Which makes me believe it's just a dynamic vibration system like on the XZ2. More than that, the bass vibrations felt artificial, just as on the XZ2. Like, the "bass" came from the exact same area as the keyboard's haptic feedback.
Kinda cool, but artificial nonetheless.
Not something i would buy, especially because the retail version doesnt have the toggle to disable the "boombox".

I agree. The vibration is from the sound resonating through the chamber. The DTS 3D surround when connected via Bluetooth to my Ford Fusion sounds awesome. I thought the S9 sounded great in my car but this blows it away. And when you connect it via wired connection, you get both the DTS 3D Surround and the Quad DAC. Excellent sound.

agreed. this has been by far the best audio experience i've had with any device, ever.
if you get a chance, find an empty plastic 5 gal bucket, turn it upside down and put your phone on top of it with music playing. make sure there is a little gap at the bottom for the sound to resonate outward. it literally sounds like a boombox. bass thumping. i couldn't believe it.

It was in the music app and i havent checked the settings app.
But it said that it was only available on the demo device and not on the retail one. (A notification bubble popped up saying that)
I cant promise but i will try to get the non-retail apps next time i go to the store.
Or i think there could be a flag in a customization file, like how HTC does. On my phone is located at /system/customize/aac/default.xml. Try looking for similar stuff.

Then again how come i can deactivate the "boombox" on the non-retail version. Is not like it fills up the resonance chamber with something.
When you turn it off it acts just like any other phone. The bass still vibrates the phone as it should, like on any other non-artificially enhanced phone's speaker(s).
If you have the possibility, hold both the G7 and the XZ2 on both hands (XZ2's vibration set to the minimum value).
Just see what im talking about.
I dont want to sound like a hater or anything, it sounds good, i cant deny that, but im very skeptical of it's resonance chamber and what actually goes under the hood.

It's the boombox show setting in the built in music app and it does have a Vibrate function but that has nothing to do with the sound, it's when you shake it to change the cor on the screen.

I believe that Boombox mode is just for the Demo unit - whereby the mode shows you the difference between Boombox being turned on or off. I think it's just merely for demonstration only. (Because on my G7, that toggle on the left is called Boombox Show)

What does that do? The BoomBox Show.
Also, does the apk i put in that zip fail to install on your G7?
Or if it installs, does it crash?
I tried it on a Huawei P10 Plus, it installed, but it crashed when i tried to open it.

BoomBox Show is just an onscreen show in the shape of a vortex or an atom that moves to the music and the color can be changed by shaking the phone and makes the camera flash light up in time to the music. It does not turn the BoomBox feature on or off and has no effect on the sound. BoomBox Show only works with the built-in LG Music app and that is the only place you can find the settings for it or turn it on.
Please see my post which is post #10 of this thread for pics and info.

Bluetooth Headphones Issue

I have an issue with a new pair of bluetooth headphones i have just purchased. Specifically media playback sound quality. It is utterly woeful, with distortion, hiss, and cackles/pops continually over any media player or videos. Sound quality on calls is fine. I know that the headphones work, as i have used them on other devices and they function fine. My S9 is currently up to date.
I initially though that it was something to do with volume limiter as the weird thing is occasionally when they immediately connect and i play some music they work fine, then the quality drops as soon as the limiter notice pops up. I have checked though and the limiter is actually turned off. Turning it back on doesn't solve the issue either. I've gone so far as to wipe the whole cache partition and nuke all the caches, but that hasn't helped either.
Is there a known issue that I am unaware of ? Hopefully with a resolution, or other obvious steps i could try that people could recommend, as I am out of ideas now.

i flip back and forth between a few different BT headsets and never have this issue and have also used the same headsets on several devices in my bag-o-tricks. The phone does use a DAC for music where its pretty raw for the phone convo, which could explain why calls are ok, but music isnt. Is this your only pair of BT headphones? Do you know anyone who will help you test them on another phone?

I have experimented a bit more, and think that this is a codec issue. If I enable the developer menu, and switch to another codec (not the SDC if defaults to) them restart the headset they work fine. Problem is that it always defaults back to SDC whenever the headphones are disconnected for a period of time. I can't see how to force the use of another codec, both AAC and LDAC for example work absolutely fine with the headset. Though this is quite a long process just to get the headphones to work each and every time i want to use them.

gotcha. i also understand youre probably at work like many of us poor schmucks such as myself, which would make it kinda hard to test things out right this moment. But do any of your coworkers have a BT speaker you can connect to to try to replicate the issue there as well? Im mainly trying to eliminate variables at this point. You might try flashing the most current Odin files with the "HOME_CSC" as to not erase your user data. Itll over-write the code for the OS and so forth and nuke any software issues that might be causing this
I've now tested another set of bluetooth headphones and they work absolutely fine, they default into the aptX codec. Is that determined by what the device primarily works with ?

yes, the codec is changed by the DAC within the phone to be the best suited to whatever device its connecting to. What kind of headphones are you using that get the garbage sound? I have a pair of Tozo T10's, which are the off-brand individual ear buds from amazon for $50 and they sound very good. I also have a pair of maxsonic bluetooth buds which cost $17 that are connected to each other by a wire and they sound equally as good.

Bluetooth audio quality question

Hello. I change phones alot and have noticed that some phones(all android) have better bluetooth playback than others.
I had a oneplus 7 pro before this phone and the bluetooth quality to my truck was great and had no issues but with this phone the highs sounds scratchy or like if the speaker is bad. But if i connect it with a wire connection it sounds great. Everything with the 2 phones is the same. On both i was using the galaxy watch and pretty much the same apps. On a previous phone the note 8 i had the same issue but it was a different car. Seems like its the way samsung handles bluetooth.
Has anyone had this issue? If so was there a fix?
Thanks

What do you mean?
The only two things I think about is the codec used that may be different across devices, and the Bluetooth settings that sync the phones volume with the headset (the differences are noticeable).
Since no DAC is used in Bluetooth, I don't think it can comes from them, for a same headset.
On Samsung phones you should run the adapt sound process. Try this.
I tried with the sync volume off too and no improvement.
I looked for the adapt sound and my phone doesn't have that setting. Or is it something different?
It's in Sounds and Vibration 》 Advanced Sound settings 》Sound Quality and effects 》 Adapt sound
You have to do this in a quiet place and ensure to answer honestly. If you can't hear the beeping press no.
After doing this the sound quality is night and day difference.
Ok found it. Ill play with it a bit. Thanks
I've had issues sometimes with audio being piped through the "Calls" Bluetooth channel versus the "Audio" channel so worth checking as the quality is obviously night and day.
I also like enabling Dolby Atmos on my Note 10+ for music so worth playing with too. Additionally, I recently found Samsung's Sound Assistant app which let's you customize a bunch of sound settings so worth checking out as well:

Easiest is probably just uncheck calls in your phones BT settings for your truck (and make sure audio is enabled). If the sound is still not great then this isn't the issue.
Sorry to respond to an old thread, but I was wondering if any of this fixed the OP's problem. I followed all the recommendations here and on other threads but have not been able to solve my recent Bluetooth audio problem. The sound has been terrible lately.
Same issue here on my s10+. When playing any audio in my car via BT i hear the distortion/hissing noise especially when the song has a higher treble frequency.
I have just about tried all fixes i could find on Google, and no luck.
When connecting to my ear buds (Jabra Elite 65t) it disappears and checked in developer mode that it supports to AAC for BT Codecs.
But when connecting to the car it reverts to SBC.
The issue clearly lies on Samsungs side, as my brother has a Huawei p30 Pro, also has bluetooth 5 and plays amazingly well in all aspects (Bass-Mids-Treble).
I know I'm posting this almost a year later, but i am desperately looking for a fix.
SN. I have recently updated my phone to Android 10, despite all the complaints to Samsung from many users... Sadly this issue has not being fixed on my side.
From what i see online, people have given up on Samsung and opted for Rooting their Samsungs and installing Viper4Andriod.
Has any one done this and can confirm that it fixed the issue?
