MY BUILDS - ROMs for the mi Mix 2 - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other

Hi guys,
These are my own builds of common ROM's.
They've been made for the mi Mix 2 and have been tested to boot.
They have SIM cards and Wi-Fi working, they have BT Audio working and they have the proximity sensor working (more or less... but I think it doesn't get better than this for now).
I take no credit for these ROMs except for the build part.
All credits go to Jorge, hondajohn88 and Mokee team for the specific device sources.
All credits go to the dev tema of the specified ROMs for the ROM.
So far I can offer
- Resurrection Remix
- AquariOS
- DU (but I think no BT audio on that one... have to sort it out)
I plan to do :
- AOSP Extended
- whatever ROM you can suggest.
Once they are proven to work nicely, I will create a separate thread for each ROM. But for now, this is purely experimental stuff...
All ROMS can be found here :
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bz7S7jFQDiz8TFpQeXZFU3lna3c
Please feel free to report what is working and what is not...
But please keep in mind that this is experimental, so please do not report something that is not working and that you're probably the only person on earth to use...
Of course if SIM cards, camera, BT... or such stuff isn't working, the report is welcome
Enjoy...
Regards.

Thanks! Downloading your RR build as we speak.

Wow! Thanks for this. It's exciting that you have put that much effort into the device. I hope we can expand on it from there.
Can anyone tell me what aquarius os is, briefly? LOS based?

RR still has proximity sensor broken it seems. I tried an app to check proximity and it just shows 'No input data'.

Wow, thank you very much for your effort!
Can you also provide a current build of XenonHD?

Thanks, I suggest you do Lineage OS as the current one seams to be dead or pure nexus

@hillolp - try Resurrection Remix. It's LOS + more features.

+1 Would be great to have a follow up of Lineage with working proximity and slowed down led notification. I too prefer it with less customizations and closer to AOSP stock.

AquariOS, no volte , proximity sensor broken

AquariOS and RR proximity sensor broken when calling

Hi guys,
OK, I'll build for LineageOS and maybe Pure Nexus.
I've also heard you saying that proximity sensor is broken on AquariOs.
This is weird as I flashed that ROM on my own device and it worked... more or less. It worked sometimes, and sometimes it did not
I think it was working when I was calling, but not when I was receiving a phone call.
I will provide newer builds if some changes are made to the source of the device tree that is supposed to improve the proximity sensor...
Best regards.

and double tap to wake does not work on RR:crying:

When disabling navbar there is a notification popping up that really rustles my jimmies. The notification can be tapped to reactivate the navigation bar.
Is there a way to disable this notification?
Edit: second screenshot should be showing the notification itself. I messed up, duh...

Great work! I would be very happy to see GZR Validus or Tesla coming to our beloved Mi Mix 2

I think you need to search immersive in settings or something to remove nav bars properly and not receive notification. It's immersive I believe.

Except the few bugs, how is battery life?
With Mokee android system consume too much power, i have 2 times better battery life on Miui 9.
So with those builds, the battery life is on par with MIUI 9 or like Mokee?

I remember you from my old z2 times. Now i have Samsung tab s3, but thinking about switching to mediapad m5 as development on my current tab is very little. happy to see you here. thanks for your effort
I installed your Resurrection Remix a couple of weeks ago. I am really enjoying it, and not running into many problems, aside from the aforementioned magnetic case not turning on and off the tablet. I do want to ask you though (and forgive me, I'm not super tech savvy in regards to this, so my questions might be a bit dumb), does the kernel you use allow for over and under clocking? I've tried setting this in "Kernel Adiutor" and the cpu speeds I set never stick.... however changing the governors does. And does your kernel allow for fast/quick charge?
Regardless, thanks a ton for bringing a bunch of ROMs to the M5, I really appreciate it!
*Edit*: I just wanted to add, that one problem I am running into is that sometimes my bluetooth crashes. Seems to be random, and only starts working again when I reboot the system.

Do these ROMs work on both LTE and Wi-Fi only variants of the tablet?
Likely a problem with ASOP, but WiFi only tablets have an annoying amount of phone like features that can be disabled (or detected and removed);
No SIM card icon
No SIM card message
Volume buttons control ringtone , should control media volume
I'm sure there are other annoyances

I also have an Wifi only Mediapad and long searched for a fix for this.
A few days ago I found an answer and added this line to my build.prop:
Code:
ro.radio.noril=yes
Especially the "No SIM card - No service" text in the notification tray bother me and after adding the line it was gone and also the Settings for mobile networks disappeared.
I could deactivated the Phone and Messenger App, I don't know if it was impossible before.
About the Volume buttons, I am not sure, cuz I use the App "Volume Pie" that's default controls media volume anywhere.
Hmm... Why exactly did they ban your work?

Thanks, that fixed the SIM card messages, just need a patch to get sensible tablet control of the volume buttons.
I would seriously avoid this, there is something very bad smelling about OpenKirin.
The developers want to remain anonymous, there is no source code for audit, and of you ask awkward questions along these lines on the telegram channel they suddenly get very abusive.
All signs that something is not entirely right and there is something to hide.. (included malware or data harvesting???).
Huawei is now a huge player, and therefore a prime candidate for mass day harvesting from anyone that flashes a closed source ROM like this.
Anyone knows how to root after installing LOS?
Usually I would use TWRP to get it, but the stock recovery does not support it.

@Signor Rossi it's actually the same procedure as from this this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/root-root-guide-huawei-mediapad-m5-t3786157.
What's the difference between the ROMs?
Well, check the ROMs own development pages. Openkirin simply build them for us, that's all. They are not "making" them.

(Question) Active Edge/Squeeze gestures support for any rom.

The world of development on pixel 2 XL devices is huge, I have gotten used to turning on the flashlight by pressing the edges of my phone with AOISP rom, the problem is that I cannot change rom due to almost no developer includes the Active Edge code by Google licenses. Is there any way that I can install it through Magisk / Xposed, or anything on a rom that doesn't support it? I want to change to a rom that supports face unlock. From already thank you very much. And I thank with all my support to the developers, who do an amazing job, greetings from Argentina.

I think the only rom that still has faceunlock and active edge is pixeldust. It's a Motorola feature that is being pulled because they put up a stink over it.

fingerprint gestures (ginko)

It seems almost any current AOSP based ROM on almost any device includes the option to pull down the notification shade using the fingerprint scanner except for my redmi note 8..
Does anyone know why? Is it a limitation of the hardware?
Thank you.

Question Can you guys help me pick a stock android 12 rom to flash?

My Poco f3 is my daily driver and I can't test lots of rooms rn and I was wondering if you guys tested different roms and would be so kind as to recommend a rom. My most important feature is to be able to unlock just by fingerprint touch or press (as in without the need to double tap/wake up the screen first). Also a totally black (not gray) dark mode is important
Thank you in advance

Yeah features and customization without diminishing stability or battery life
I use Evolution X but it's Android 13.
It has a Black Mode and lots of customization. It's a Pixel ROM so it also has Pixel-exclusive system apps and features. I can recommend it It also receives frequent updates and has a big community on Telegram.
The question is, do you want a simple AOSP ROM or a Pixel ROM with more features and customization.

Yeah more features and customization as long as its stable and has a good battery life. I kind of disregarded A13 bc I assumed it won't be perfected yet but I'll check it out now. Can you unlock from a black screen just by taping the fingerprint scanner?

Yes, this is the default behaviour when having set-up a Fingerprint.
Doesn't every ROM do this by default? I think even MIUI. You can also configure to only scan for Fingerprint when Screen on, on Evolution-X too.

My experience - Resurrection Remix Q (A10) - GSI - Unofficial

hi everyone, I'm here to share my absolutely positive experience with Resurrection Remix Q compiled by @RobotHanzo, it's just (almost) perfect for me.
After a week of test, i can say: everything works properly.
~Ril
~Data
~GPS (perfectly, setting "only device")
~fingerprint sensor (even after each reboot), very quick response
~NFC
~face unlock
~LTE + (plus) is working (at least the indicator)
~perfect functionality of double SIM implementation
~incredibly there's a gcam reasonably working (only on perfect brightness condition, only back camera of course):
MGC_8.3.252_V0e_Arnova_V5.apk.
*the shot is more fast Of The stock installed android.camera2.
Just 2 little (for me) bugs:
A) a single SIM is not disabling.
B) the level on SIM indicator is stating at low value.
Rarely in my experience I've found a cusRom (even specifically, officially dedicated) more stable of this so, after a week of test my impressions is absolutely amazing, no lags, no app crashes, no reboot, at all!

On good light conditions, during daylight especially, the results Of The main camera (back camera only) only in HDR+ (killer feature of gCam), is reasonably better!
In low light conditions there are heavy problems of incorrect saturation:
On the left an example of stock (custom Rom) camera, on the right the gcam Cam I've found reasonably working.

Footej is absolutely better of stock camera present by default on custom rom ( com.android.camera2), just in terms of smoothness and quick response when you launch the app, the quality of picture in my opinion is moreless the same, unfortunately the HDR feature is incomparable with the one of gcam.
This is just my impressions, unfortunately I've not a great skills for set the single value (ISO, exposure...etc..), maybe this is the reason.

For me is absolutely incredible the smoothness, stability and solidity of this build...I've never tried a gsi romS (I'm a custom maniac since 2013), in my (wrong a this point) opinion the only solid solution was a official, specific release for each different device, snapdragon as usual...apart the gcam incompatibility, this little, old device, fly with this GSI version of RR! Even the battery backup is amazing, 3:40-4hours of SOT per day, I'm shocked!!

I've tried until now (last 15 days):
LosQ: very laggy, there's no NFC and, most important, the fingerprint sensor stop working after 1st reboot.
Lir: NFC is not present, fingerprint stop work after 1st reboot and, most important, there's no way to flash a gapps package (not works Bit, Nik, Flame, Open and Lite).
Crdrom: exactly the same problems of LosQ.
Lineage 16 (official and not) have a very big problem for me: the second SIM implementation don't exist (probably like every Pie build, GSI and not).
Havoc: official GSI have a fully working NFC but the fingerprint stop working after 1st reboot, (after 1st reboot the fingerprint sensor work only just for notification panel etc...), then I've tried to set a face unlock but, a this point, the system become unstable and starting several reboots.
These are the reasons why i consider this RR almost a masterpiece (just poweroff alarm don't work, but i think this is impossible on device with 2 recovery installed at the same time, or maybe is typical aspect of GSI roms).
*always pardon for my English!!
