Copperhead brick phone / no sim card unlock - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
for two days I get a OTA update for copperhead. After the Installation I cannot unlock my sim card. I always get a error.
I changed the sim tested it with others phones there it works.
I tried to install lineage, but there it didn't works too.
So i installed the factory image from here
https://developers.google.com/android/images
But no chance, the phone could not unlock the sim card.
So my question what could I do to fix it?
Is there a special Firmware for that ?
Thanks

Requesting network unlock hang

Hi guys, I'm trying to network unlock my M8 to use in Germany. I've inserted the card and typed in the network unlock code that I bought. Unfortunately, it is hanging on "Requesting network unlock'
I have tried factory resetting the phone.
What can I do?
Thank you
Are you stock, which carrier?
AT&T Skydragon rom
Try stock rom if you can see if that helps. Do a backup of your current rom, flash stock then restore backup
I'd suggest go back to complete stock also.
thanks, going back to complete stock worked. However my SIM card is locked every time I turn on the phone.
What do you mean your SIM card is locked? Do you mean you have to enter a pin to unlock the screen?
Network unlock requested?

[SOLVED][Q] IMEI and Baseband unknown. I don't have a backup.

[SOLVED] I put my phone in airplane mode and my IMEI/Baseband came back, cheking the service menu I went to *#2263# and saw that "LTE Preference" was enabled. I clicked on Automatic and problem fixed. Probably a ROM bug? Who knows.
Hello there. I've been a reader of the XDA forums for some time but I never had any reason to create an account to post on the forums.
A few weeks ago I got a SGH-M919 as a gift, the phone only had a few months of use and I took it with me, everything worked fine except for the fact that I couldn't get 3G/4G (Not even EDGE), I was only able to connect to the GPRS network and I couldn't change the carrier (It always gave errors like "Unable to connect. Try later" and such). Although the phone is (apparently) quadband (I don't live in the US), it just didn't work but I lived with it.
Yesterday my phone was low on battery and I turned it off, a few hours later I turned it back on and it couldn't connect to the network, I went to the network options and once I pressed the screen to enter the Mobile Network options, I got an alert saying that I must have a SIM to access those option. At first I thought that the SIM got damaged somehow (This isn't the case since it works perfectly fine in another phone) but after a few minutes looking around, I checked the IMEI and instead of the usual number, I got a null/null message. My first reaction was to google what exactly happened and the answer I received was that the Baseband (Which is also Unknown) and IMEI are stored in a folder called EFS and that it got corrupted. Sweet. I looked for solutions but the main two I got (EFS Pro and ADB nvrestore) require a backup of the EFS (Which I don't have).
The other solution I got was to restore to the stock ROM (M919UVUFNH7) which I'm currently downloading from SamMobile (Sorry if this is considered spam). The phone is not rooted and has the stock ROM, it came with a CWM folder inside the internal memory with an .img file but it doesn't have CWM intalled. I've never upgraded it (Not sure if it came with that firmware from the store if it matters).
I live pretty much in what can be considered a "3rd world country". So I cannot send it to Samsung nor I have access to dollars.
Another question is, the phone was gifted to me already unlocked, I don't know if it came unlocked from the original carrier or if it was unlocked via a code or whatever. If I restore to the stock will it lock my phone to T-Mobile again? Would I be able to use it without a SIM card if it gets locked? It's impossible for me to get a T-Mobile SIM on my hands should I ever need one. In the worst case scenario that my phone gets locked, can I get it unlocked by flashing a custom ROM?
I have so many newbie questions that are already answered in other threads, but since it's a lot of information I want to get it as specific as possible to avoid breaking my phone.
If someone can help me with this issue, I'd really appreciate it.
i having same issue in M919
Do you guys get a message in notification bar about sim car removed or something about a sim card? Also, it doesn't matter if the sim card works in another phone. This device has a little issue with being picky with sim cards. If it's a cut sim card, get an original micro sim card

Hi, thanks for answering. I don't get a message about a removed SIM card. I'm also using an original micro SIM.
I already downloaded the Stock ROM but I haven't flashed it yet.

This is a known bug of the s4. It is a hardware problem and I have yet to find a solution. If you google it you will find many threads on different forums addressing this issue. Again, no known solution
Any answer/idea about my issue? . Sometimes I can access Mobile Network Options, sometimes I can't. I can't configure the APNs (They delete themselves after I click on save). Phone Serial Number didn't get deleted (Which is stored inside the EFS folder as far as I know). I also can't select a Network Mode. I click on GSM/WCDMA/LTE but it changes automatically to nothing.

That's what I said? One solution is to change sim cards if using a cut sim card to use an original micro sim. It's worked for a friend if someone I know and also for others on XDA. It's not the solution, but works for some

I would get a new sim anyway if I could. Flashing stock firmware wouldn't hurt as well

Before trying to flash it, is there any risk of getting simlocked again? I wouldn't want to get my IMEI fixed just to realize that my phone is locked to TMB again
UPDATE 1: My IMEI and Baseband randomly got back (My IMEISV was still missing) but after I restarted, they got deleted again.
UPDATE 2: Rooted, went to EFS, didn't find nv_data.

No SIM card inserted after unroot and upgrade

As above really. Not really sure if it's a hardware or a software error here. I've read that the sim card readers can be a little fragile but there was no fuss during the removal so I would be surprised if that was the issue. What I'm wondering is if I've missed something when un-rooting my phone.
I was using a custom ROM, all working fine, but I've got a new phone so I decided to unroot my old one to sell on. I flashed my original firmware using the LG Flash Tool. Firmware file is "UK Vodafone 16G D85510A_00.kdz". It all went great as far as I could tell and I started upgrading. The final upgrade was the install of Marshmallow 6.0.
In order to find out if my phone was locked or not I put my Wife's SIM in. Rather than coming up and asking for an unlock code it simply stated that there was no SIM inserted. I thought that was potentially down to the wrong SIM being in but when I tried mine I was met with the same error.
Have I missed something? Did I need to change the baseband or something during the process?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I've had kinda same problem since a couple of weeks ago...eventually SIM card gets read for a short while and get back to that No SIM card inserted state.
It has happened with any ROM as well as OG FW flashed through LG tool.
I haven't tried another SIM on my G3 but my SIM does work on other cell phones.

Invalid SIM card error

I got Moto z2 force from USA that was on sprint, it was working fine with my sim for some time but with last android update i got "Invalid SIM card" error and now I can't connect to my mobile network at all. I had some problems with SIM reading pins but it was fixed, i am worried that it got locked to Sprint again so my first guess is to unlock it, and I haven't been able to find any way to unlock it for all networks.
I am open to changing rom or installing custom one if that would fix my problem.
Ok, after much messing with a lot of stuff i found something that worked.
I had to remove my sim card, install clean system (I used NASH_SPRINT_OCX27.109-48) and after that insert SIM back in and it worked just fine.
Hope this will be helpful for someone else.

Unlocking vs Unlocked Device

I purchased an att gs9+ directly from samsung, after that, I installed the unlocked firmware. Up to this point, I have used an att sim. When I tried to use a tmobile sim recently, I got a message saying "Invalid SIM card inserted - This SIM card is not supported. I was surprised as I thought it was unlocked since I installed the firmware. I then tried to install a version of the ATT firmare thinking I perhaps still needed to unlock it? At any rate, I tried but ODIN gave me the following error: FAIL!(auth).
So, first question is - If I installed unlocked firmware on my att gs9+, is it truly unlocked?
Second question, can I install the att version back again? Or perhaps the tmobile?
Finally - what does the ODIN error mean?
Thanks for taking the time to read,
Ben

SIM unlock is a completely separate thing which you'd need to use an unlocking service for, nothing to do with the firmware
Check the bootloader version your phone is running now, vs the one you're trying to flash, you cannot downgrade the BL
Download mode will show BL:1 or BL:2)
Firmware shows it here
G960FXXU2BRGA
Flash an equal or higher BL

Ok, thanks for the response.
I can see that my bootloader version is 3. I dont see any ATT versions out there for 3 though. Am I correct in thinking that I would need an ATT firmware to even get the sim card unlock prompt? Thats really the issue for me.. I am unable to unlock the device despite trying to reinsert, and running those #XXX*# codes.
