Anyone with a blue pixel 2 + a google fabric case in coral? - Google Pixel 2 Accessories

I'm thinking about getting a coral fabric case from google, but I'm afraid it will look way bad and tacky if I put it on the blue pixel, what do you guys think? Do you happen to have that combination, could you plost post some pictures of the phone with the case on?

I think the coral fabric case is a bit too gaudy/tacky regardless of what color your phone is. I ended up going with the Cement one (I have the white phone).

Thanks, thats the one I got as well, I still feel bad for getting it, 45 euros for a case and google wanted to charge me 5 euros to have delivered in 3 days, since I refused I have to wait 10 days for it to arrive to my place

I have the kinda blue pixel and the cement one as well. I've received so many compliments. However, you have to clean it once a week with warm water and detergent to keep it looking nice. And it doesn't offer as much grip as the speck presidio case, which I ended up switching to and am very happy.

It just feels wrong for me to have a metal phone ( even if its coated ) and then slap a plastic case on it... so it ends up feeling plasticky :/ I'm gessing that the fabric still offers more grip than the phone without a case... right?

I just installed the Spigen glas.tr protector today and I feel confident enough that with a mnml/peel case + glass screen protector my phone will be protected enough.

Any pics to share?
I'm going for the darkest of the fabric cases on a kinda blue. I think it will look great with the blue bits peeking through and the dark case will show the least wear.

I have no pics at the moment, but I assure you the kinda blue looks great on a coral case. I was afraid when I ordered it, but after seeing the combination irl it totally works! I will try to get some pictures later.

In case anyone is still interested, I have the coral case on the none XL Pixel 2, but rarely use it. It certainly stands out, but isn't that comfy in the hand, and I don't like the lack of protection on the bottom of the phone.
I've ended up with the Burgundy caseology case, comfy, not to heavy, protects all round and looks a bit more interesting.

Sprint black silicon gel skin impressions

I just picked up the black silicone gel skin from the local Sprint store. They have about 4 different cases in stock, aside from this one they have the body glove case, a leather case, and a weird 2-piece plastic snap case 2-pack. Here are my impressions:
1. The fitment is perfect and all cutouts line up perfectly
2. The camera lens is recessed about 1mm from the edge
3. The texture is smooth as opposed to the leathery texture of Sprint Hero silicone skin (and it's thinner than the Hero skin)
4. The edges around the screen recess the screen a little over 1mm so the entire face is protected from a fall onto a flat surface
5. The edges around the screen overlap the screen seams by about .5mm
6. Overall the phone still feels thin and sleek in my opinion
7. As with any silicone skin, it's tough to get in/out of tight pockets
Edit: Photos by review site here: http://goo.gl/F9px
Can you post some pics?
i picked up this skin tonight as well. i wish it was more grippy on the back as its so smooth it seems like it will be slippery. well, i have the skin but no evo until the evening tomorrow

I was installing one on a customer's evo today and that was my main concern. Holding it I felt like I was going to drop it. It just felt too slippery. Personally I prefer our Body Glove case for the Evo. It had an over all better texture and I really like the appearance. Once I can finally take my evo home I will definitely be purchasing that case.
I don't think it's too slippery, but the case is too loose imho. It doesn't fit very snug on the phone. Hopefully with some sunlight/use it will shrink.
No pictures. Come on, this is the 21st century. Lets get some visuals.

I have mine on now and you're right, the back is kind of smooth. I don't know what wizardry they used, but the edges are grippy as hell. I'm happy with that since I don't think I'll ever pick this phone up by only grabbing the back of case and the display on the phone.
Here are two pics of this case. I used my webcam, so I apologize for it looking a bit blue, the bad angle, and the graininess.

My experience w/silicon cases in the past (Belkin ones on an iPod touch) has been the opposite, they either stay exactly the same or they loosen up and get floppier... Those that are multi-color tend to lose some of the dye over time too, around the edges. They do look cooler when they're new tho...
I think I'll get the black one from Sprint and I'll probably order that Amzer Argyle case when it's finally shipping... It's a different kinda rubber, seems stiffer than the silicon stuff but still flexible enough that you just slip the phone into it by stretching it (unlike any of the plastic cases), seems smoother too so it might be popular w/those that dislike the effect of the silicon skins on pockets. From what I've read on the reviews for the same type of case made for other phone models, it's actually a bit translucent and the argyle pattern doesn't stand out as much as it does in the photo. There's a Blackberry Amazon review that describes the material it's made of pretty well.
That Body Glove case might be grippy or rubbery on the back but it's still a plastic frame 2-piece case btw, there's one or two other threads on it. Probably slightly bulkier than the silicon ones.
I got the black one and the raspberry (hot pink) one for my wife. I did notice the case kind of put a small shadow on the front camera picture. I nipped off about 1/8" from it and it works fine now. Hope it doesn't cause it to come out easier now.
I found it interesting that it was HTC branded on the back.

Thinnest clear case?

Looking for the best case to show off the Moto X, so I'm trying to find the thinnest clear (not frost!) case out there. Not worried about drops, just want basic scratch and scuff protection.
For reference, I have the Diztronic TPU clear case and the Minisuit clear case, but am looking for something more minimalist that will LEAST change the look of a naked X. Has anyone seen such a case?
I have the clear power support air jacket case. It's kinda expensive but it's thin & it has some sort of self healing coating that heals scratches. The only downside is that it makes your phone slippery.
I bought the Griffin Reveal Case. It has the clear back and is pretty thin. It's hard plastic with a softer rubber around the edge. The back scratches fairly easy, but I do not see them unless I take the case off and look for them. I had read this in reviews, but I'll live with it for the $12.50 I paid from their ebay store (price is higher now on ebay, though cheaper than amazon with shipping).
Ebay link
or
Amazon
I originally had a clear diztronic tpu case, which added a lot of bulk IMO. The Reveal case keeps more of the original feel of the phone.

do the scratches actually "heal"? I'm getting this case tomorrow, I'm undecided if I want to keep it or get another one...
I haven't scratched it on purpose to see but I've used it for a couple of weeks now and there are no visible scratches.

Same here. Been using it 2-3 weeks and there are zero scratches.
I have found, like others have said, that it is very hard to get off. It's a breeze to get on though.
Are there any truly transparent TPU cases? The Diztronic is frosted
Rocketfish TPU Case from BestBuy
What you need is the Rocketfish TPU case from BestBuy. It's what I've been using from day 1 of owning my Moto X, and it's pretty fantastic. 100% clear all round, and great to the touch. Covers the buttons as well, and has a good lip around the edges so you can put it face down. Go for it, you won't be disappointed. I'm surprised this case doesn't get as much publicity around here as it should.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/soft-sh...&skuId=1645012&st=rocketfish moto x&cp=1&lp=1
I've been using the AirJacket for a while and really like it. As others have said, no visible scratches, good protection, and it doesn't feel particularly slippery to me. Also doesn't add much bulk. I don't like what it does to the feel of the buttons. Where before they were good and "clicky", now it's mushy, hard to press, and doesn't always respond. I've taken to pressing on them horizontally with my thumbnail instead. Could be I've had bad luck with mine, but I have been tempted to try modifying the buttons (scraping away some rubber to thin them out).
Hey guys!
Now I'm waiting for my walnut Moto X and trying to choose between Rocketfish TPU case and Air Jacket by Powersupport. Price doesn't matter on me. Understood from forums that air jacket has some self-healing coatin and dunno abt same issue in Rocketfish case.
What you guys think about it? What case might be your choise?
Thanks beforehand.
I think the two tone air jacket is not very appealing but it's all personal taste. If the rocket fish is like the diztronic but clear I'd go with that

You know I thought it was my eyes--mine seems to be looking a bit yellow too! Nice to see someone else has the problem and I am not seeing things. Dang it, I like this case too... Maybe I will try to soak it in something...like oxyclean or I don't know... something! If I am able to remove my yellowness I'll report back!
Please do
The rocket fish case looks great, the buttons are a bit stiff and it is relatively expensive from best buy. Still, it's the best truly clear case I've found.

Good luck, but don't be hopeful. I've had clear TPU yellow before. I think it's a chemical reaction from either light exposure or skin oils. I tried everything and it doesn't 'clean' up at all.

skin/wrap feedback

I've never used a skin/wrap before and bring averse to bulky cases I thought I might give them a try.
If you've used them before I'd like to know more about your experience: ease of application, residue after removal, durability/longevity, feel and overall satisfaction.
I returned my XZ1 compact and have pre-ordered a pixel 2 and would like to have my accessories in place when it arrives.
Thanks for the feedback!

I've used them. I like them but almost always wind up taking them off - don't really know why honestly. I didn't think anyone was shipping yet for the Pixel 2 but I could be wrong. My thoughts
Easy to apply, use a hair dryer and be patient
No residue after removal
No issues with longevity. They seem to stick around. Sometimes at the beginning you get a lot of dirt trapped along the edges but that goes away.
The biggest thing for me is grip and honestly none of the regular skins offer anything meaningful. Even the dragon one from Dbrand which was supposed to be super grippy didn't feel noticeably different to me than a regular skin. Dbrand has a narrow scoped, predictable, good product and great customer service. Meaning, they aren't offering crazy variety but just offering what they know works reliably. SlickWraps goes out of their way to make unique textures and materials such as natural wood and leather. Many people have had a ton of CS issues with them though. My favorite skin of all time is Alcantara from SlickWraps as it is soft touch and grippy but it does not go all the way around and also is rather thick.
I usually wind up with something like Peel as a case.

My first time trying a wrap. I'm not a fan of cases. But this just feels and looks like I have a sticker on my phone - especially on the curved backside corners.
It also collects fuzz like crazy. I'll be pulling mine off when my case gets here, out maybe just leave it on in my case.

Unless you go the natural selection, they are literally stickers lol. That fuzz collection will stop once the residual adhesive on edges fades

I just wanted to add my feedback on the dbrand dragon skin.
The dragon skin has a really nice leathery feel and definitely adds grippiness to the phone.
However, the one down side of using a full back + side skin is that because the physical power and volume buttons don't protrude very much from the phone, you kind of lose the tactile feel of them.
Kind of torn as to keep or peel it off. It is kind of weird not to be able to feel the power and volume buttons
Anyone get anything like Alcantara yet?

Do you get the sense that a case would fit over the skin? I'm considering one, but wouldn't necessarily want to remove and ruin it if I opted for a case afterward.

I used the spigen case over the dbrand skin for a couple days and it fit just fine. However, I decided I preferred no case - the dragon skin feels really nice with great grip.
One thing I do recommend from dbrand is to get a glass skin (or use the bonus one that's included) in addition to your normal full skin. The doubling up (or even tripling) of skins on the glass section make it just high enough to clear the stupid camera bump, and hopefully help prevent it from scratching when putting your phone on it's back.
I prefer clear TPU skins. They add significant grip on your hands and don't slide on flat surfaces. Plus, they are clear so you don't hide the phone's design.

Yikes. I've never seen anything like this. I believe I've had both Dbrand and SlickWraps, and both have been great, no fuzzies, and go on clean and tight. I had a nice light and dark wood (stickers only) for my Note5. I also have a real leather one that I never used, and may try to "mod" it for my Pixel 2 XL that's in the mail (so excited!!). I hate to see that nice leather go to waste. But it probably won't match up well and will probably look super-wanky. We'll see.
And the Pixel 2 looks like it may have the Nexus 5 soft matte back, am I wrong? Skins may not stick quite right, as opposed to the glass-back of the Note5.
(edit: just realized we have a Pixel 2 XL forum as well. I thought they'd just use one, but apparently dev is diff for each? Interesting...)

Durable clear case that doesn't stain or yellow?

I am looking to find a nice, durable clear case for the XL. I've had a couple cheaper TPU cases in the past, but they were not very durable and after a while would get kind of gross and even begin to discolor. I am leaning towards picking up the Lifeproof Next and am wondering if anyone has it and like it or if there might be some other good options out there?
I prefer the ones with the PC back instead of tpu since they don't yellow. I've got the ringke and caseology ones which are both good. there are a ton of options on Amazon/eBay/AliExpress, a lot of times they'll come up under a search for bumper
Ringke Fusion but get the smoke black instead of the clear. It's still clear but with darkened edges so it hides any discoloration much better.
I've been using this one for a couple weeks and so far/so good...$10 on Amazon...

That looks just like my Caseology Waterfall Series case and one that I saw on AliExpress. I've been happy with mine so far and wireless charging is fine. We'll see how well it ages and resists yellowing or hardening.
The hard back on it is a total fingerprint magnet, like it gets downright greasy sometimes, which is actually pretty gross ?
But, I tend to just wipe the back across my jeans if it gets gross and it doesn't show a single scratch yet, and not a bit of discoloration that I can see, like 3 weeks in now. For $10 I'm very happy with it.
Don't know if you picked anthing up yet but I have had great success with the RINGKE CLear Fushion on every phone I have owned inlcuding the Pixel 3XL - excellent case. Good Luck

Not really? I was hoping for a middle ground between the ta and dark brown leather so my expectations were blown away. I was MORE impressed by how well it stuck. Just a little heat from the hair dryer and some patience and it went right on. Only had to realign the large piece once and the small piece I nailed my first try. Not too bad for someone who shakes! Worth the money though.

I hear ya on the shakiness when trying to perfectly align the skins.... the more you concentrate on it, the worse it gets, LOL.
About a month ago, I bought a magnifying LED lamp from Amazon. I think I spent about $15 USD on it, has a fixed 3x magnification.
Best $15 I've spent in a while,I've wrecked a few skins along the way..... used it to install a skin on my Z-Flip 3 & I nailed it on the 1st try on both pieces. That phone is very unforgiving for even the slightest of misalignments, lends itself to skin peeling on the contoured edges if not perfectly installed.
That's one thing I like about the camera spanning across the entire width of this phone, it's the perfect edge aligning "cheat", only really having to concentrating on alignment on one axis.
Installing the leather skin on this phone should be a breeze, especially when using the magnifying lamp (ETA on the skin 12/8-12/9),I'll post some pix of the finished product, hopefully by weeks end.......
So I learned that is DOES NOT like a case...it tries to pull off the top skin when coming out. That's kinda lame to discover. It sticks right back on but I was hoping it would have more hold like the other skins but I assume the added thickness just grabs the lip of the case naturally...it sucks...because I am a mechanic...and my hands get dirty...so I use a case at work...

Yeah, eventually, the adhesive is gonna lose it's effectiveness w/this issue.
I currently have a textured skin from SopiGuard installed that is thin enough to survive case removal w/o the edge peeling.
I have two minimal cases that I use,I'm hoping that they won't peel back the edges as you're experiencing. One has an open design on the top and bottom:

My leather skin will arrive on 12/09/21,will be posting pics over the weekend.
Also, I'll follow up in about a week or so with results, as to if I experience any peel-back with case removal.

So this is what tan looks like for those interested. Absolutely awesome! THE PHONE DOES NOT SLIP AND IS COMFORTABLE TO HOLD NOW!
Cannot wait to see how it ages! Took about 15 minutes to install. But once you warm it up and rub the corners it looks GREAT!

My experience is identical to yours, this skin is not going to play nice with using a case.
Two things are in play here:
1) The thickness of the material.
2) The curved edges.
I used the hair dryer trick to get the curved edges to adhere & it's just not happening.
The cut on the skin is too blunt, it should have been taper cut, or, a thinner skin that would be more pliable to adhere to the edges.
YMMV & I hope others have a better experience than mine, but, based on my use, I'd recommend sticking w/a traditional skin, or, if you really want leather protection, go with a leather case.

I bought a black leather skin from Gadgetshieldz and it looks better than this brown skin, this is also affordable than Dbrand so I bought it.
Here is mine after I messed up putting on the whitestone dome
I recently cancelled my order with Dbrand. They dinged me with a $5 cancellation charge for a product that was on back order.
After sales service is horrendous.
