Google camera port with working HDR+ and portrait mode - HTC U11+ Themes, Apps, and Mods

You can download Google cam port here https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Examples
HTC HDR mode:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/7QNauujArMUcAJSF3
HDR+:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/FumJUnU0JfQ6UPRo2
Portrait mode:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/nuGIyFiUdlxlyIrg1

HDR+ looks better for sure. It is sharper and more detail.

I think it's a pretty close call. In general I prefer the it over the HTC camera, and I'm not too sad that the slow motion is force closing.
I had a big issue with blur in the HTC camera. Any motion in shot would result in blur. The port is better in this respect
I'm using GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.3.apk, any suggestions for settings?
Thanks

Best settings for me so far are;
Config camera HDR+
Pixel 2017 Zsl HDR+
Model
Pixel 2XL
HDR+ parameters
Super high
With those settings, night pictures had a green tint to them. In advanced settings I turned on the 'remove pinkish/ reddish' toggle, and that worked well to give accurate colours
Anyone care to share their settings?

I cannot use portrait mode with front camera. When turn it in front camera, i cannot take picture. When i turn this mode off in front camera, app is force closed.

Yes, portrait mode with front facing camera is a known bug
It's worth checking the thread in OP regularly to see if it's been fixed, and also there are new versions out
The Slow Motion is also not working with the version I am using (v1.3)

In the new version (1.5) I get black screen when setting HDR+. Any idea why?

Will there be any difference in quality when using the Pixel in the Config Camera HDR+, vs Nexus 6 Auto. As in, the Pixel 2XL camera is better than the Nexus 6, is that reflected in this app?
Same as for the 'Model' settings
i.e. would the settings exactly emulate the camera that you choose?
Also, mentioning @Arnova8G2 as per his request to mention him in device specific threads

I'm back to V1.3, having tried 1.5 and 1.6
I am getting much better low light colour accuracy, and sharpness with 1.3

My settings attached
I don't think I changed anything in the debugging section

All,
New version out, with no settings to tinker with
GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V1
I haven't compared photo quality to v1.3 yet
However, portrait in selfie mode works!!
Slow motion video still results in a force close

Latest version doesn't work. I tried the same settings in Developer Settings within the app, no joy
It doesn't take/ save the photo
But selfie works
Shame, because the ISO and focus settings are cool
Has/ will anyone be able to try out some settings? I have no idea what they all mean..... ><

V1.6 works on my device. But if I tick HDR+, main camera doesn't work.

Yeah, I need HDR+
I've got good results with V2 of the Google Camera Port, but occasional hue problems
V3 is out now, hue is fixed in changelog
Try those mate, less configuration needed, and still really good results

Camera Observation

So I have been messing around with the Camera and like everyone has said, it is quite underwhelming, and this is surprising because it has a quite good sensor. Iv used different apps and seems other apps take worse pictures even. I'm thinking the reason the Camera is performing poorly because LeEco is not Utilizing API 2 for the Camera, which would explain why Manual focus is not available on other camera apps. Just doesn't make sense why the Camera can't perform anywhere near the OP3's.

So the trick with phones is to use HDR to get better DR and low NR. Given that phones nowadays have tremendous SoC power, HDR processing should be a breeze. And set the Sharpness setting to lowest to prevent artifacts.
Have you tried Google Camera?
Here is a comparison... You can see that Google Camera photo has better detail despite having higher ISO. Noisier but resize it down to 50%, it will be infinitely better than LeEco's default camera output.

I also do think that the software has alot to do with its underwhelming performance. Also, the pro 3 is lacking OIS compared to the others phones using the same sensor such as the op3 and lg v20. OIS helps the camera use longer shutter speeds to take in more light because it makes the lens steady. Cameras w/o ois needs to take pictures at faster shutter speeds to minimize blur resulting to the camera taking less light in.
With BuildProp Editor it's possible to add this line :
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
and after reboot on x720 cinese version it's possible to use API 2 Camera.

Unless I am missing something, you just need to click/tap on the area you would like to focus on right? Even the LeEco camera can do manual focus. I suggest you use Google camera app. I did a comparison of this phone with the Pixel and the result is surprisingly similar. In sheer performance, LePro3 ate the Pixel alive. =D

What is Google Camera (AKA GCam)?
Google Camera is the camera app for the Google Nexus and Google Pixel phones. It is not designed or intended to be run on other phones.
What is HDR+?
HDR+ is Google's proprietary image processing routine. HDR+ employs image stacking to control exposure, and also to preserve details, reduce noise, increase sharpness, etc. It is an all-in-one package.

ABOUT URNYX 6.4

- No EIS
- Video 60fps doesn't work
- Slow Motion Mode doesn't work
- Change to Main Lens to go to Settings or else will FC
- Lens Distortion in Ultrawide Lens
- Black Crush (it's actually exactly the same as on the Pixel 3 now)

FAQ GOOGLE CAM
I CAN'T INSTALL X VERSION, WHY?
Make sure you uninstall every other GCam Port on your phone. You can't have both versions installed.
HOW DO YOU SWITCH BETWEEN CAMERAS?
(6.2) Settings > Advanced > Auxiliary Camera and enable the Buttons
HOW DO YOU USE NIGHTSIGHT WITH THE DIFFERENT LENS ?
Select the lens in main mode, then switch to Night Mode
HOW DO YOU USE MANUAL FOCUS (SLIDER) ?
If you want to use it with enhanced HDR+, you need to disable focus tracking. Or else it will only work with regular HDR+.
Also the way it works is you set a focus distance, tap once into the viewfinder, then tap the shutter button.
WHY THE FRONT CAMERA IS 5MP AND BACK CAMERA 12MP ?
Selfie camera uses pixel binning, same as for the main sensor. Since camera2api implementation only delivers a 5MP raw stream (20MP/4 = 5MP because of pixel binning)
GCam can only work with what raw stream the API delivers.
HOW DO YOU TAKE PHOTOS FASTER ?
Enable HDR+ instead of HDR+ Enhanced
DOES GCAM WORK IN AOSP BASED ROMS ?
Yes

Does this phone have full support to camera2API including RAW support or does it share the same problem of MI9SE with camera raw buffer?
Honestly, for me, the best version is urnyx 5.3.015_Namok_urnyx05-1.0.
the selfie quality in night sight mode is the best I've seen. you can set Auto-correction hdr+ in Max speed so you shoot really fast and with night sight with some mindblowing results in low light conditions.
I use this version specifically for night time photos, really amazing result if you understand how to use its features.
The best result you can achieve with this one are selfies at night time with low light, you just activate night sight, flash on (lights a white screen) and hdr+ with max speed correction. Back camera night sight quality is also miles better than stock in low light condition.
Note: nigh sight is activated by touching on the square button (NS) on the bottom right corner of the viewfinder.
You can use my config XML file (attached) and place it in /sdcard/GCam/Configs. To import the config, double click on the black bottom area.

This one crashes for me a lot.
I got the latest GCam Arnova and it works with no crashes but it can only use 2 cameras at a time.
Why don't you fork the Arnova code and add an easy way to switch the 3 cameras?
The telecam is still pretty noisy in low light. I thought HDR+ would take care of that. Any settings I can try for that?

I just followed this guy's guide and punch in the settings manually.
It does show improvement from the default app in terms of contrast and focus.
BUT it does not contain options to use the 64MP and Macro settings etc.... there are things missing in terms of all the hardware you can use.
So for now I'm using GCam if I need to take pics in normal camera mode, video and wide-lense, panorama or the amazing 360 view feature.
And use the default app for 64MP, Makro lens and slow-mo features. This version of GCam does crash on some of the options like Lens Blur, so it is not perfect.
i am very happy with the stock camera , on the latest update the quality is just fine

Ans I agree.
I tried to take pictures on low light conditions with the stock camera and compared with Google and ended up preferring the stock camera versions.
To be honest, sometimes AI overdoes things, but overall camera quality isn't bad. Even for interior pictures.

Thanks mate. Just did some quick testing; seems to work flawlessly in photo mode. Will test others later.
Not sure if you're going to continue developing or not, but if so, would be awesome to see some changeable settings:
- Button to swap between f/1.5 and f/2.4 apertures
- Tone curve
- Wide front camera (not sure if this is even possible thanks to Samsung)
Appreciate it!

Works well, but on my G960U *stock* model the camera preview on both front and back camera is slow, very low frame rate. Other than that, this is the best gcam that has ever worked for me.
Edit- this also includes portrait mode. I also noticed the autofocus is a bit weird when I comes to focusing on the object, it kinda jumps back and forth with the adjustment. Autofocus still functional though.
Been using on my snapdragon canadian S9 for a little while and I've had no issues. Thanks so much.

does anyone know how to fix this?
thanks in advance for your comments.
Hey buddy,
On my S9 in the slow motion mode I can swap from 1/4x to 1/8x but I can't swap back to 1/4x and when it does the app fc.
All other features seems to work fine! Great job!
Thanks.

how to force the optical camera on GCam?
Thank you very much my dear, you have done an excellent job.
I have tried every way to understand the functioning of the camera with optical zoom in relation to the main sensor and discovered what determines the activation of camera 2x are the luminosity conditions, however did some tests to check a hypothesis.
The first test comprised obstructing the main sensor with applied zom 2x in the application of native camera and in an instant the optic sensor was triggered even with low luminosity.
The second test was to use the dynamic focus, therefore sensor 2x always remains worked without adding or decreasing the zoom.
My hypothesis is if it would be possible independent software hardware would be able to alternate from the main sensor for the sensor with optical zoom 2x, but esssa hypothesis is no logic, because the way dynamic focus force the use of optical sensor, then software yes can control the secondary sensor.
My question is; Is it possible that the Gcam forces the use of the sensor with optical zoom 2x, and that can be used it independently as an auxiliary camera?
The app says "No Storage Found" when clicking in the dark area to install the XML. Any ideas?

GCAM for Wing

Hi,
Just wanted to update that Urnyx's 7.3 v2.4: GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.4.apk works perfect on the LG Wing.
Just enable the second lens from the settings , enable HDR+ Enhanced etc..
Results are much better than stock.
Actually, pretty good camera with gcam.
Cheers!

Link?
Haven't tried it yet. But I think this is the link. Downloaded and will report back after install.
File on MEGA
mega.nz
Perfect. Thank you
Im using the BSG model from their telegram group. Just tested selfie. Damn my skin tone way better even compared to the selfie from my pixel 5. Pixel 5 somehow gave warmer result.
Pardon the file name. Thats the typical filename for files downloaded from Telegram
Heres the comparison of 1 single take https://photos.app.goo.gl/kk5Xjt7aMVaJ3yz2A
Using the GCam I've noticed a couple of nice things.
1. The camera app does not take over your music app like a stock camera app.
2. Some picture quality improvements. (i am looking forward to testing in dark environments)... Stock app was marginal.
A few questions.
1. Anyway to change save location to SD?
2. What are your settings?
I have:
HDR+ Control enabled
wide angle auxiliary lens enabled.
4k time-lapse (not tested)
4k video (not tested)
Cheers!
@fuadhdmini thanks!
download the BSG camera in fuadhdmini's post above. Seems to have more features available and a better GCam.

I don't know if we can ever really "expect" anything... These two gcams above are pretty good. I thibk stock is pretty good also. Each camera seems to do something a little better than the others.
For simplicity I'm back using the stock camera.

In addition to the five gcam models mentioned above, the Arnova is a popular choice. Furthermore, by releasing the most recent versions, namely 6.1, 6.2, 7.3, and 8.3, the Gcam Arnova has gained a large following.
