Info regarding its battery performance and youtube flickering - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

I'm planning to buy Honor 7x (India). Heard good reviews about this phone, also on youtube channels. But the Amazon (India) reviews say otherwise. They state problem regarding fast battery drainage and youtube flickering and auto-restart after sometime. Please help!

Battery is pretty good. similar to my OnePlus 3T.
No issues found in my week of usage.

I contacted the huawei customer care, who fowarded the call to their R&D centre. I was given an ota update which solved the youtube flickering problem.

I'm in the same boat and currently using Zenfone 2 Laser. I'm currently getting 2-3 days of uptime with daily use of around 1 hour of whatsapp/facebook, listening to music for couple of hours, wifi/data on for 1-2 hours. Can I expect around the same from Honor 7x? I really like the phone and would've bought it if it had 4000mah battery, but confused now.

I Understand You Would Like Guaranteed Sure Fire Answer..
But what you ask, is impossible to judge.
No one knows what type of possible battery draining apps you have running in the background. Or for that matter,
Live Wallpapers..
Bright Wallpapers..
Your Enviroment... Hot ? Cold? etc...
The answer is Impossible for anyone to give but yourself. Can you get more than a day? YES :good:
Two to Three days ?
You have 15 days to return the device in the United States through Huawei.
You have 30 days to return the item through Amazon.
Give it a whirl.. and see what you think.

Just checked Amazon India return policy for mobiles and sadly you cannot return mobiles anymore. They'll only replace defective ones, that too within 10 days.
Thanks man! What you suggest makes sense, I just hope it doesn't breaks my heart to return the phone after reading great reviews about it's screen!

Battery life on this phone is the best I've ever had... Better than my Samsung Note 5, Note 3 and Galaxy S4 active. On days of light use, I take off the charger at 7:30 AM and when I leave work around 5 PM I am on 89%...days with moderate use, I'm at 70% at the end of the day. All of my other phones would be at 40%-50% from day one. This phone is unbelievably customizable. I have most apps set to sleep when screen is closed and some other items to save battery life. Also, I have a ASUS smartwatch with Android wear connected all day. Amazing battery life...
The only concern is texting is a bit wonky even with 3rd party applications. Scrolling through group texts is not smooth and tends to loop at times. Other than that---great phone.

Usually 1.2 hours of Bluetooth connection on my round trip to work and lunch with streaming music and about 25-40 minutes of phone calls. Connection to my smartwatch all day, checking Notes traveler email every 15 minutes (refreshes). Also, I probably take 10-15 photos for work each day and email to customers (20 MB), probably 15-50 texts during that period, calendar, Outlook and about 30-40 minutes SOT.

The battery is quite nice in this phone. I've jumped ship from Redmi Note 4 which had a massive 4100 MaH battery which usually lasted for around 10-12 hours (screen on time) depending upon screen brightness.
This one doesn't disappoint too. It lasts me for about 7-8 hours (screen on time). I've about 44 apps installed including the battery enemy messenger and Facebook apps too. I do think this phone is well optimised.
Screen on time depends on usage and number of active apps with screen brightness.
In ultra power mode, I left the phone at 25% charge at 10 pm and it was 25% at 6 am. So that's a big advantage again.
Here's a screenshot for you.

Battery life is really good on this phone...actually too good for my taste, as I found it killing Tasker, even though I had it whitelisted on their list of apps to kill when then phone goes to sleep. This was quite frustrating but I think I've found a fix in Tasker settings. I unchecked "Run In Foreground" and now I haven't seen it killed since, but it's only been 1 day. This seems backward to me but it seems better so far.

Amazon no longer takes returns on phones, only exchanges
https://www.gadgetsnow.com/tech-new...cy-for-mobile-phones/articleshow/50901907.cms
"All mobile phones that are fulfilled by Amazon, purchased on or after 7th February 2016, will have a replacement only policy. Mobile phone items that are fulfilled by Amazon will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, you will be eligible for a free replacement,"
Granted, this is from 2016, and I cannot find info regarding it on Amazon's website. But this is the reason i chose to buy directly from Huawei.

Yeah Amazon India also has no return/refund policy for mobiles anymore. Unfortunately honor india also doesn't have return policy, only 10 days replacement.

I Don't Know About Other Countries..
And.. Topnomi's Info Is (I'm Sorry To Say.. Incorrect)
Here is the proof from my Own Personal Order that I placed in August for a Redmi Note 4.. (See Pic)
I had no hassle whatsoever returning the deivce for a full refund. I had to cutoff some of the pic because it contained my personal information..
But you can see enough to see that I recveived a Full Refund... No Questions Asked.
I hope this settles this issue for Amazon U.S.A.

LiveView App in the Market!

Hey guys, just checked: theres an app called "liveview application" in the market ;-)

Are you buying one? If yes could you share the points that you think matters for you to own one?
Thanks
I'm definitely considering buying one, or at least asking for it for Xmas if I don't get around to buying it. I've kind of been wanting to get a watch anyways and this brilliant little device would be a nice watch and great for seeing what messages friends are sending to me while I'm working. I'm also an accessory whore so theres that as well. Why buy a fancy watch when I can get something that connects right to my phone and does much more than tell me the time
If it isn't astronomically priced I would consider getting one. Sony made an older bluetooth watch that is still available on ebay for a fairly high amount though.
I amuse myself with the thought of kids in school being able to check their text messages / social networks from their watch. I would have.
I have one since yesterday but display wont work, battery wont load,so bad.
Send it back.

I'm actually thinking of buying this one too. regarding battery life, right now I have my x10 connected to my mbw-150 and IS800 and so far my phone lasts a day, granted I only wear them when I go out which is like 6 or 7 hours a day.
6 hours are the normal battery time for the liveview device!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
6 hours battery life is putting it a little low. Got mine since Friday 19th and have been using it since.
The battery holds for about 14 hours with on and off (regular) usage.
But as with all new devices, you'll probably drain that thing dry in about 5-6 hours, since you will be fumbling it all the time.
But as time goes and you'll use it normally, you should see a days worth of usage from the thing.
What concerns me, personally is the stability of the Software.
I don't know, how much is the apps fault (fixable), or that of the device (I've read no mention of it being update-able).
I already wrote SE for a statement on the matter.
As it is now, the device regularly quits working.
It wont go further then showing you the watch (time and date).
Nothing else.
After turning it off and on again, it automatically connects again and works though (taking about 10 seconds and two button presses).
With that behavior it's quite unreliable for notifications (it's main purpose).
I hope, SE can somehow fix that.
Got mine from ldlc.com
work nice.
But I'm a little bit disapointed with my mw600 now. I don't understand why the LiveView can display my contact name and my music title and the mw600 not ....
Dear All Thanks for the application
can anybody post the other 7 applications for live view since i dont have the android market in my x10 mini pro
apprecaite......
Can anybody please provide the updated version of liveview.apk?
Thanks, Sigi

A quick review after 48 hours use

I have had the phone, bought from phones 4U contract free for the past few days and i wanted to give my views for people who may be undecided if it is a sound purchase. Just for the record i still have my iPhone 4 & Desire HD, so i am not biased.....
I was unsure about the form factor when reading the specs, but the lack of hardware buttons means it is literally 95% screen real estate, the display is a thing of beauty. I know others have reported colour issues, but i have not had problems with yellow hue. Or any other display issues. It also feels light but sturdy, i'm sure you will have seen the scratch test video. I'm confident that the screen will stay scratch free unless i drop it (To be fair i will probably drop it)
ICS - It is a great update for android. People have commented about it not being intuitive or user friendly. I spent the first few hours setting things up and finding my way around the OS and while it takes some getting used to it is far better than gingerbread. It is of course biased to Google+ - people who have concerns about not being able to sync their facebook contact pictures should use "syncmypix" it has done a great job populating my phonebook pictures. I have had some force closes, and apps from the market do need an update due to some compatibility issues. As this is a software issue i am not concerned. I would like to add that the face unlock is actually very good. I set the "gimmick unlock" to test it, and it has proved to be more than adequate for day to day use. It does not work in low light, but again hardly a surprise.
GPS is also excellent on the phone seeing a connection established nearly instantly.
I must be missing something with the connecting to other hardware issue. I guess people use their smartphones differently, but from my point of view i connect my phone to my PC to transfer files back and forth and sometimes tether my laptop to use the internet. Both of these things work fine and quickly, so i am clearly missing the issue.
The camera: Ok, the camera isn't going to set the world on fire. In the right lighting it takes a pretty decent snap, but if you are looking for a phone with a heavy emphasis on photos it probably isnt for you. No software updates will change that. I do like the instant shutter speed and it comes with some nice effects.
The battery: Hmmmm the jury is out on the battery. I usually like to cycle the battery over a few days till it settles down, i can then make a valid comment. So far though the battery is giving me approx 12 hours of use, i would consider myself a heavy user (It's a new phone and i'm playing with it lots)
Overall - If you love tech, and are an early adopter it's a great phone. The OS is lightening fast and the display is great. If you want something that 'Just works' i would hold on.
I HAVE NOT HAD THE VOLUME PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS HAVE COMMENTED ON. LITERALLY NOT ONCE.
Please feel free to ask anything about the phone, or if you would like me to try something out just let me know.
Cheers

*sigh of relief* as I'm on Three I hope I won't develop these problems, as there's no 2G to switch to.

Good to know about the battery. I've heard many bad things about the battery life, so it's good to know that yours is lasting as long as one would expect.
Please post what operator you're one so that we can determine if it's all handsets that are being plagued by the volume problems, or just some or most.
I'm with Optus in Australia and I'm fairly certain that they operate on the 900Mhz GSM frequency

I'm on T mobile for the majority of the time. But do use my O2 sim and have tested it with both. Over the next few days im sure a clearer picture will emerge regarding the problem.

Screen brightness auto. No live wallpapers. Two full charges. One gmail account on push and one Exchange on push. I browsed Reddit for about 10-15minutes after waking up and that saw the battery down about 6% or so.
Since then I listened to Spotify on the walk to work (15mins). I've replied to some texts, installed/used a network Speed Test app once, showed the camera to a friend and took a panorama. And played with a few settings. Nothing intensive.

Thanks for the review - I really appreciate the time you put into it. I wondered if you think it is worth paying £100 pounds + more for this handset or go for the tried and tested the GS2 which is due to get the ICS upgrade at some point....There seem to be a few p'd off people leaving comments all over this forum regarding this phone.

Actual screen on time was 1h9m for 6h1m49s on battery. The % was where the battery was going (as displayed in the battery part of Settings).
I guess it's okay, but I'm used to a lot higher from my previous iPhone 4 and HTC Radar. But I guess they also didn't have 4.65" 720p displays
I've turned off Exchange push for now, as I don't really care about getting work emails on it anyway. Will see if that improves things, as read some vague topics saying that Exchange is a battery hog.

If one is considering the total screen on time, its actually about 2 hrs 18 min. (Double of 1hr 9 min). The % isn't measured according to time.

No problem. I've posted a topic to get others' opinions/battery life experiences, so I can stop hijacking this review thread

Phone fixed

Hi,
I sent my phone to HTC for repair as the screen was yellow and had poor battery life
they changed the screen and the battery and its amazing now
there are no yellow spots and it works like a charm
the battery lasts 1.50 days dispite heavy use
for those having issues please send it to HTC.
If u send it back to your retailer for an exchange u are not guaranteed to get a phone without an issue, screen especially whereas sending the phone to HTC they make sure there are no issues after a repair they have done a good job and Im really happy with the phone now
8 years I buy HTC phones and have very good experience with them.
Only once I had a issue with my phone, they picked up and returned the machine fixed in 3 days.
htc will fix/replace your device if it has yellow spots?
100% its called Mura. Tell them and they will replace the lcd and u wont face the issue ever again as it s a known issue
Mine had this issue mainly and the new screen rocks
they are easier to deal with then apple... i will never buy another apple product mainly because of their customer service...

Thats odd, I had an ipod touch a few years back and my experience at the time was really positive. I had a problem and scheduled a visit online, went down to the local mall and gave it to them, they swapped it out for me. I've never had that good of an experience with anything else I own. Of course, that was the only new apple product I've ever had, so maybe regular apple users have a different experience, dunno.
I also have sent my HTC off for repairs (to some place in houston). It wasn't the screen, I had a problem with my mobile data that all but stopped working indoors and barely worked outdoors. I'll see how that goes. They did tell me that if they need any parts, it will cost me $20 because my One X is from france, whatever that means. Its really sad though, I don't really have any other usable android devices at the moment so I'm stuck using my work's blackberry while I wait. I hate that thing, I feel like i've gone back to the 90's.
That's very strange they ask $ 20 for it because HTC warrantee is worldwide.
The phone they fixed for me that time was a HTC Artemis P3300 from the US and I live in Holland. They didn't charge anything.

Screenshot of the usage and display time please. Otherwise I think you have the same battery everyone else has...
Also Stock unrooted phone I believe? If so can perfectly compare with my usage.

Yeah, they said because I live in the US and I purchased a phone from france and the repair place is in the US they would need to special order parts. Who knows. I'm actually a little concerned since they mistyped my email address (luckily I got the email anyway since I own the domain) on the rma info and even though they received the device on wednesday (according to the post office), there have been no updates to the website that they've received or are repairing it. So... I'll have to call them again and see what happened.
There is something to be said to buying devices directly from a local carrier.

I sent mine off to HTC too in the UK. They picked it up on Wednesday, Thursday evening it was showing as device received on their repair tracking.
Today afternoon it is showing as in repair.... :\ hopefully i get it middle of this week as i have no phone to use whatsoever. hopefully they will fix my yellow spot, i think the gorilla glass was not sitting properly on the LCD. as when i pressed it slightly it was gone.

Better luck than me... My phone was delivered on the 13th but never made it to 'received'. I now have an escalation ticket into HTC to find it. It took a few calls to them for them to even care that my phone was missing, they just kept saying that the repair place was probably behind. I then had to call them for an escalation ticket, then had to call a few days later to re-do the escalation ticket because the last guy didn't do it properly, then a call a few days later to get someone assigned to the escalation ticket. I'm now at the few days mark again, so I'll have to call again on monday and can hardly wait to hear the response this time.
I couldn't use the blackberry any longer, so I spent the other night screwing with my old captivate to at least get it working again so I'm not living in the dark ages anymore.
So, after a bunch more calls back and forth, they finally found my phone. At which point it sat for a couple more weeks while they ordered parts. Then they called back with the bad news. Apparently they can't order the parts because it's an international phone and due to copyright laws (supposedly) they can't ship the parts it needs overseas. The only options are to 1) return the phone, 2) send the phone to HTC France or 3) Replace the phone with an AT&T One-X. Obviously #1 is out. #3 isn't a great choice either, because the AT&T isn't as good as the International version, and so I discussed #2 with them. #2 apparently is only an option if I have a French shipping address, which obviously I don't. So, I'm pretty much out of options.
I think I may just take them up on replacing it with the AT&T one, and since it's new, I'll just ebay it and take the money to -mostly- pay for the S3. I really liked the One-x, but I don't want the limitations it already has (SD & Battery) combined with the more severe limitations of the AT&T version (dual core, 16gb storage - I can't use LTE so that's not a benefit).
Luckily my captivate has been holding up during this whole fiasco, but It's really on it's last legs.

This makes sense but not for the reasons given. The U.S. One X's have the "app picker" disabled; users have to pre-set an event in settings for a single action to occur when clicking on a link in an app. Those sold outside the U.S. present a list of apps to choose from each time you click on a link just as every other Android device. Making sure the U.S. versions didn't have this feature enabled therefore violating Apple's patent is what held them up at customs. HTC U.S. restoring that feature, even on an international device, would be in violation of the patent. So if they had to replace the motherboard they couldn't load the international s/w on it and they have no alternative ROM with the feature disabled that runs on Teg3.

Great, thanks for that explanation. I didn't really understand and I don't think the HTC guy knew or was able to explain it either.

[Q] Holy crap! Is this battery usage normal?

All I have running is Facebook in the background and chrome browsing XDA. My battery drops 1% every 3 minutes.
Is this normal for you guys too? I turned off sync to save battery but its still eating it up.
I really wish a root come out soon. My rooted HTC One last so much longer

What brightness? I got like 5 hours at 50% when I did Futuremarks Peacekeeper test, but that is pretty heavy test for browsing, so reading posts should result in better.
Did you just receive the phone? If so, it may take a day or two for the battery to become fully optimised.
I had this issue with my G3 - the first couple of days I had horrid battery life. But after a few days of use, I couldn't kill the battery.

Yeah, my G3 was getting atrocious battery life for about the first few days, then it got better a lot quicker. I can't say this is absolutely the case with the G4, but I'm guessing so.
If you live in the U.S., you can get free stuff from LG by simply showing them a picture of your IMEI# and receipt. Here's a link: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/g4/battery Follow the steps accordingly.
I've supplied a link from the main LG website rather than the direct page where you fill out your information, just in case anyone is a bit suspicious since the address changes in the URL when you get to the step where you fill in your info.
If you do not live in the U.S., you'll have to wait to get reasonably priced spare batteries/backs. Once the market gets flooded with them, the prices will drop. It's pretty atrocious how eBay sellers are currently asking for $60-$70 for the leather back right now. This will not be the case in a matter of a month or two.

I filled out the free 128gb promo and the free battery with 32gb sd. Entered imei and screenshot of online receipt. Hope they take the screenshot as "proof of purchase". Anybody else know if the screenshot of receipt is good?
Exact same problem here. I turned off smart settings and my places location and it helped a lot. Still could be better but it's not falling like that anymore. I want to use those features though and shouldn't have to compromise new features to save battery on a $600 phone. I really hope root becomes available faster than I anticipate..
Oh I also uninstalled greenify til root too.

Users from India – do Flipkart sell the real P2a42 version?

Hey, as I consider getting this phone but don't have many reasonable options for purchasing the non-Chinese model from where I'm at, I thought to try ordering the 4gb/32gb one from Flipkart in India and have it sent to me internationally through a forwarding service.
I simply saw some comment on GSMArena from a person claiming he bought it on Flipkart yet received a "made in China" model. I don't know whether the P2a42 is actually manufactured outside of China, so maybe he misunderstood?
I just don't want to go through all this hassle and end up with the same model they sell and readily ship on AliExpress and other Chinese websites. Thanks in advance.

Hello, and how can you check in comparison to a P2c72 that had its ROM replaced? Is the model variety written on the phone somewhere?
Also, did you experience any bugs with your phone like some people reported? In addition to the more common reports of audio-video desynchronization and a couple of other issues, I also found a thread on the official Lenovo forum where a bunch of people said parts of their touchscreen stopped responding to touch.
It wasn't sure whether it's software or hardware issue, and I don't think the model versions where declared by the users (no official comment was issued by Lenovo).

yes,on the back of the phone below the lenovo logo,it is written model p2a42 .I the moment i recieved my phone my upgraded it to nougat so i dont know about the audio sync issue, but there is a video lag issue in nougat which occurs every 3-5 mins which can be irritating , other than that this phone is very nice and the batter is phenomenal, its will easily last you a day if you are a heavy user and the quick charge can charge from 0 to 100 in 2.3 hrs. its a very good phone but you should try to avoid it if you are going to be watchin a lot of vids.

What kind of lag, exactly? I read a few say their videos skip frames, but if that happens only once every few minutes it doesn't sound too bad. I also saw people who claim they experience no such bugs, but I think many also used the official ROM, so I wonder why is there a difference. I hope it's not a hardware issue with some of the phones, thus in case it happens with the stock ROM, perhaps a custom one would solve the issue.
Did you check the temperatures it's running at under load? I've seen some that claim it stays in the 30s range while others shown their's reaches ~45°, with one YouTuber strangely getting to 60+ after playing a particular one of the games he had.

yea it skips frames ever few minutes, sorry i haven't really noticed the temps but i would say it would reach around 38-41 under max load. and due to quick charge it also goes to 38 while charging.

OK, that doesn't sound too bad. But you checked with a monitoring app like CPU-Z, right?
I actually also saw a bunch of people say their quick charging turns to regular charging moments after beginning to charge. Someone claimed that it happens automatically when the temperatures are getting too hot, so you should AC the room when charging on a hot day. Did you encounter something like that?
(I hope you're OK with all of these questions, I just want to be more certain about the purchase before going through all of this effort to import it from India)

Oh, I'm doing my research. It's just these inconsistent reports about issues from users that make me worry whether there are some manufacturing defects going on with some of the units. At least you told me that your P2a42 unit is working pretty much as intended, and I believe many (if not most) of the bugs came from people who bought a "Global Chinese" unit as sold on Chinese websites, so perhaps it's less likely to happen on the Indian version, but who knows.

By the way, I should ask. The Indian forwarding service I consider using claims that mobile phones in India can't be shipped without having their battery completely discharged first. Thus, they said they will need to unbox the new phone and turn it on until whatever charge it came with runs out (good luck with that...).
That sounds quite strange and not something I'd like to have done to a new item I order, which I expect to receive sealed as it had left the shop. I found several people on a BlackBerry forum say they ordered using this company. They have all received their phones as far as I can tell and they were all told the phones need to be discharged first.
Do you know about this as a resident of India? Shouldn't internally-shipped phones also go through this process then? Do you always received air-mailed gadgets opened and discharged? I found a UPS file explaining lithium ion batteries outside of equipment (so I think it doesn't even apply to mobile phones) should hold no more than 30% charge, not necessarily be drained to 0%. I couldn't find anything about this on any Indian website, though.
