WLAN problems - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

Well hello there!
I really like the phone but I have a problem and I hope someone can help me with it. My problem is is it my honor 7x never Matches my WLAN speed. I only reach 25 mbit MAX. But I read 50 Mbit per second is possible. My router is relatively new and there shouldn't be a problem because other phones work with it very well.
Any ideas? I already restarted the phone, turned off Bluetooth and tried different other things...

did you try to restart the router?
I also had the problem often.
Then it worked for some time

Weird Annoying Wifi problem.

Anyone else had this problem:
If I connect my BT HTC S620 to the USB of my PC it powers the Wifi fine no loss of connection.
If I unplug it my Wifi keeps the dropping off every minute and reconnecting like its having a fit. So it cant be my routers fault as i first thought.
Is there any way to powerup the Wifi. I will try it on a full battery
and plugged into the mains. Its a new phone so not tested that yet.
My phone doesnt have the "Full performance" power options for Wifi far as I know.
If you have a Linksys make sure you change the Wifi Channel to 4 not 6
the default. I got that tip from another forum and it improves things.
People should be told about Linksys being wrongly configured by default
for HTC Excalibur phones which dont properly support channel 6.
Although it still cuts out occasionally, the battery is about half full
I must try it with a full charge.
its been driving me insane, and almost ruined what i thought was
the perfect phone for me.
This is the first I have heard of this. I will have to give it a try and report back when I get the chance.
I could be wrong about the USB after testing further sometimes it disconnected when on USB too. Im 100% sure the Linksys wifi channel change solved the problem mostly, seems stable now.
When I first got the phone a few days ago it literally disconnected from the net every minute and wifi was channel 6, making it useless for the internet and especially messaging.
If anyone has noticed Wifi connection being poorer when the battery is low let me know. I still dont know if thats the case.
It runs fine now it seems hmmmm.

Wifi dropouts

Is anyone else having sporadic issues with wifi on the One X?
I have two One X's, both running T-mob rom 1.26.110.5.
Wifi will work fine for some hours, then problems start. I usually notice this when returning to the browser - where the progress bar sticks at about 10% and goes no further in downloading a page.
This can happen to either of my One X's. At the same time, my other One X and both of my HTC Desires will continue to operate perfectly on Wifi. This situation can continue for quite some time, and usually I have to cycle the wifi power on the offending phone, whereupon that phone will connect fine again.
The good connection has lasted anywhere between 2 minutes to several hours.
This is intensely frustrating. When I got both phones home new the other day, I set one phone up first, and later in the evening first experienced this wifi problem. Thinking the phone had a fault, I continued and set up the second phone. But that also exhibited the same fault.
Note that all the time this is happening, I have 2 laptops, 3 other phones (included the other One X), and a media streamer, all connecting just fine to my same wifi access point. I doubt the access point is at fault - it has worked for years with the other equipment without issue.
Only the two One X's have intermittent problems connecting to it, and then not both at the same time.
So does anyone else experience this?

Might sound strange, but try rebooting the router. I was having problems with my One X, almost the same issue as you. My HTC Sensation would be fine and my Galaxy S and my laptop also fine, but my One X would have terrible WiFi performance, even tried deleting the wifi settings and re-connecting, and also a factory reset, to no avail. At this point i was ready to take it back as I thought it was faulty.
As a last desperate attempt i rebooted the router (unplugged it for 10 seconds then plugged it back in), and my One X has been perfect ever since. Doesn't quite make sense why one device but not others would have a problem, but worked for me anyway!
OK. Will certainly try that. Ta.
I posted a response to this same query in your other tread regarding streaming in mezzo.

I'm getting this with my new One X. I've tried rebooting the router, but it's no help.
same problem here, the solution until an update, is to take out the pasword from router, leave the wifi network without password

Are you serious? WiFi without password is an absolutely NoGo. I contacted today hTc with this problem. They said they know this problem, many users have reported it. They said to me I should let exchange my phone by my provider. That was not the the answer that I wanted to hear, but I hope they can fix it with a patch and it's not an hardware issue. But if you say deactivating the wifi password can temporaly fix this problem, it should be possible to fix it with an software patch.
I was having wifi problems as well and had lots of other devices which connected just fine. I reset the router and it seems to be going well...
Couldn't try it on another router to see if the router was the problem or it was the phone.
Otherwise love my new one x!!! YAYYY!
Got the same Problem. I just signed the device a fixed ip in the Router config and have no Problem since...
Maybe u should try some like that.
I have noticed WiFi drop outs. Have assigned a static ip, testing to see if it makes a difference

Mine stays connected but gradually the net slows down to a crawl to the point I have to restart the phone
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I've noticed an improvement since creating a static ip and setting it up following these instructions
http://mhotspot.com/blog/themsk-fix-obtaining-ip-address-android-wifi-problem-2/
Also noticed that putting better battery performance ticked helps too
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6
Go to WIFi settings->Advanced->tick best WiFi performance
This fixed my issues
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Hmmm still getting problems with the WiFi may try and get my handset exchanged
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I assigned an ip for OX and ticked best wifi settings and have no problems
Mod or Die
Mine was showing the loop on connecting, authenticating, obtaining ip. That is a common problem in Android (and nowhere else), but I worked around it by connecting to a different router, then re-connecting to my own router. (In addition to all the other rebooting router, rebooting phone, rebooting refrigerator suggestions). Yup, static IP too. Still would get the problem.
Tracked it thru alogcat and can see the exact point of failure, but still cant fix it.
BUT IT GETS WORSE: My phone stopped scanning. It can't find ANY routers.
If you manually enter a hotspot it shows as not in range.
Mine is getting a little better with static ip and improved wifi performance ticked, but the issue is still here.
You lot should have posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586820 duplicate thread

UPDATE:
Rebooting the phone didn't help. (It would still not scan for routers)
In Power Settings, there is a checkbox called FAST BOOT.
It came from the factory checked.
I unchecked it and now wifi scanning works again.
I still get the connecting, authenticating, obtaining IP Loop, on some routers. Rebooting the router will solve that as a temporary fix.
There is also a setting called Best Wifi Performance, which some suggest keeps the wifi chip from entering a deep sleep mode, making wake up faster. I checked that too.
Still not happy with the wifi problems. (no, its not my router, 7 other android devices connect to it just fine. Laptops and printers also).

Thats exactly what I found out too. Therefore it would be necessary to give the One X a own IP but in its own config. Not only on the router.
Do you know if this cn be done?

Wifi ... hardware?

Hi,
I do have a problem with my Wifi and I think it's a hardware problem but I don't know if that's possible.
The problem is that my Wifi does have contact but after 1 minut / 5 minuts / 1 hour (every time different) I lose connection and it takes a long time before it connects again. But I found out that when I "drop" the mobile roughly on the desk the Wifi come back ....?
Does Wifi something have to do with hardware and can that be repaired or can you do that by yourself?
If its a hardware problem it cant be fixed by you. I suggest you take it back to your retailer
You can try changing your router too, though from your description i very much doubt its a router problem

[Q] Unable to connect with wifi on zenfone 2

I'm unable to connect through wifi on asus zenfone 2. I have tried the suggestions given in net but it didn't help me that much. It keeps on connecting and dropping then reconnecting. It's really frustrating me a lot. :crying: . But it worked fine for me before. Not sure it's because of latest firmware update or not. If anyone had this problem and rectified it means pls let me know the solutions. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for quick response
Hi Asus,
Yesterday night i just tried my luck to connect with wifi and it got connected . But after current went and came, i tried to connect again but this time it did not connect to me. I could not understood the reason for it. I restarted my phone & modem but still same. Pls tell me what could be the reasons for this wifi connecting issues.
See of your router/ modem has a firmware update. If it does take it. That usually sorts these type of problems.
Are you able to connect to other WiFi networks? If not there are several helpful tips regarding basic troubleshooting techniques in an app called ASUS Support: Please see Apps/ASUS Support/Assistance/3G-LTE-WIFI-GPS/Cant connect to WiFi.

Having the same problem
Hello, I'm from Paraguay.
Got the phone a week ago, and at first Wi-Fi connected okay, no problems at all.
Since yesterday, it hasn't been able to connect to Wi-Fi, it just keeps on disconnecting, saving, connecting again, disconnecting, and it never actually manages to just stay connected.
I have tried re-initiating the phone, putting it in airplane mode then turning it off again, forgetting all wi-fi connections and then connecting again, turning Wi-Fi on and off, turning the router off and then on again, and until now I haven't been able to solve the problem.
Right now I'm trying to check for updates to see if anything important's missing, but my phone provider is also being problematic by not letting me download updates using my network connection (though that's another problem I think I'll have to solve with my provider).
I was trying to avoid running a factory reset if possible, so I don't know what else to try.
Authentication Problem
I'm having a similar issue. Just like Blasterkat101, it was working fine for the first couple of weeks, but recently (possibly since the most recent OTA update), I'm getting "Authentication Problems" on any wifi I connect to. After I try to connect a couple of times, it finally works. If I walk out of range and come back, I get the "Authentication Problems" error again.
I already followed all of the troubleshooting on the support page, but those suggestions seem like temporary fixes rather than correcting the problem permanently.
In case it matters, I'm using the ZE551ML variant.
I hate to bump, but this is still a daily occurrence for me on multiple saved access points. I admit, I haven't done a factory reset yet since it can be such a pain, but is anyone else having this issue?
Any suggestions before I wipe my phone? I would really appreciate it!
Please try turning off 'WiFi Scanning always available.' To do this go to Apps/Settings/WiFi Settings/Advance Settings(menu in upper right corner)/Scanning always available/turn Off. If problem still exists, please see the following link for troubleshooting methods: http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1006657/

Frank

Not sure is this is helpful, but you could also try changing the Band to only 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, depending on your router. It might help with stability.
Thanks for the responses, but I'm still stuck.
I did turn off "WiFi Scanningalways available," and that did not help.
I tried changing the 2.4GHz channels (with 5GHz disabled) on my router, and that didn't help. I also tried leaving only 5GHz enabled. That also did not help. But I did not expect it to anyway because this is happening on any access point I use (work, home, friends).
I'll do some more troubleshooting, but I think a factory reset is in my future.

I hope you could fix the issue?
Mine stopped having problems on its own, but it still got authentication problems from time to time anyway. No idea what's wrong.
And yesterday the phone just stopped being able to charge and battery got to zero. Right now it's dead, but I guess that's a completely unrelated problem I'm trying to solve on my own.
I foresee that returning the phone is in my future -.-
Even I was having the same problem. Tried the Airplane on, Wifi on, Airplane off thing; didn't work. But what worked for me was changing the SSID and security key of the router. Now of course you can only do this if you are on you home router, but do give it a try.
I've just updated the firmware on my zf2 64g2g and now my Wi-Fi is causing major problems. I connect but within seconds it disconnects and then I have to forget network to regain access. I know its not my network as my old n5 is fine and all my other devices. This has only started since the last asus update. My phone is unusable. Wish I didn't buy it tbh. Too buggy.
[SOLVED} This fixed it for me

TRY THIS. IT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ME.
There is a reboot option in your router settings page. Do that and it should be connecting fine.
Have anyone fix this issue? I just bought a Zenfone2 ZE551ML and wifi is always connecting and disconneting over and over.
try with static IP Address (not DHCP)
I also have 32gb 4gb Asus ZE551ml and can not connect to wifi network.
Also sim 1 card signal is too low and other phones signal has the highest . Any solution please?

a5 2017 wifi problems

I am getting really bad wifi connections and the phone is very slow at browsing refusing to load pages fully. Running Speedtest by Okla says "network communication issues". I get this problem on wifi in public areas and at home. It does not seem consistent. I got so fed up I factory reset the phone. I connected to another wifi router at home and so far everything seems fine. All other devices work fine with public wifi and wifi router at home including Samsung J5 and S4. Any ideas?

I have sometimes wifi is reconnecting, but most of the time I have a good connection.
I'm having weak wifi reception with the A5. When placed side by side with S4 and S7, the A5 has the weakest wifi signals. Speedtest confirms this as well.
Yeah, definitley weaker reception, i compared to my Htc 820 and Sony m2 aqua and it was pretty weaker all of them are on stock roms.
Well, me too. Weak reception when just a littel away from the router. Randomly loses signal force, can't see any router, then, connect again... It seems to get worse when heavy using internet, like watching YouTube videos... But near the router, everything stays normal... My moto g 2014 never had the problem and I'm in stock rom too...
It strangely seems to be YouTube app who causes problems, because when I stop watching videos the signal force get actually more stable, even full in places it doesn't get full when watching YouTube...
But it still seems to suffer from some instability at its natural... When I tap play in youtube, the signal drops to almost zero...
I would like to know what is happening, because it isn't a cheap phone, and even moto g 2014 has got a better wifi
It also seems that demanding wifi in general causes signal to get weaker... I never saw something like that, signal strength doesn't get affected by use, only bandwidth...
Any other experience?
Similar issue with my A5
I recently bought an A5 2017 aswell and my phone also has HORRENDOUS wifi , not just that but for some reason it would randomly stop reconnecting and stop showing the wifi router or anything and the wifi connectivity doesnt turn on , and then if restart it but it would hang mid restart and then id have to hard reset it by holding the power and volume-down button , and this whole procedure happens like once or twice a day so ita really frustrating. Especially because this is a New phone btw, my wifi is perfe fly fine because i ha ve other technology and have previously used many huawei phones which have perfect connectivity and this was my first experience with Samsung, any help would be much appreciated thankyou !!
I am having the same issue as the person above. Pages will refuse to load until i turn off wifi or refresh the page. There are duplicate posts coming up on facebook. Like 4 or 5 posts repeated before new ones. Twitch constantly buffering. Tried on mine and parents wifi with same result. Both were always and still are fine on my note 4. I have 2 weeks to return it to o2 if its faulty or is it just a phone with bad wifi in general?
Edit: i think the facebook thing might be a facebook issue as its happening on my note 4 too but everything else is specific to my a5.
