Use speakerphone mic as main mic - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hi my main mic is broken and the one I'm talking to cant hear me if I'm using the main mic but when on speakerphone everything works fine. Is there a way to switch the main mic to speakerphone mic. I've been trying to edit the mixer_paths.xml file but can't achieve switching the mic. Thanks for your answers

is there a way to increase the pick up level of the inbuilt microphone during a call? headset mic works great but mic pick up on the phone is very low. I don't mind registry editing but I can't find any ways to do it.
I'd greatly appreciate any help on this.
Thanks

Mic gets low for other side?

Hello, When I put the phone on speaker and or use a headset it lowers the voice for the other people. I can hear them fine both ways. It is just during headset or speaker phone calls. It works perfectly fine when talking normally through the phone. Hardware problem? I just noticed it, can I exchange it through sprint? Please advice! I am on 4.2.2 d3rp rom still on ZV8!
When you put it on speaker phone, it uses the secondary mic at the top of the phone instead of the normal mic at the bottom. If you look at the top of the phone there is the infrared port on one side and then a small hole on the other side. That small hole is for the secondary mic. Try talking into the top of the phone when on speaker phone and that should solve the problem. Headset issue I can't help you with. Each headset normally has a built in mic usually near the volume controls. Its probably bad or you're just not directing your voice into that mic or something.
I've tried to do that but still the other person can't hear me thank you for your input tho!

Speakerphone only works on cm rom

My mic seems to mute when I use speaker phone or use a video.call with hangouts. When I flashed cm speakerphone works during calls but not during video calls. Nobody can hear anything. I'm thinking cm uses a different mic for speakerphone and that's why it works. I tried to put it on safe mode but it still doesn't work on TouchWiz roms. I also cleaned the speaker holes but it didn't help. Anybody else with this problem?

GA2114 - Malaysk's ROM : Microphone level too low

Hello,
I have a microphone issue. Many people don't ear me much when i do phone calls.
I have the problem with the built in mic and the external mic. I tried 2 different external mic and the built in mic alone.
The microphone level is too low. I did a test with a voice record app on the unit. The result is that i can ear myself but the sound is very very low.
So how i can do to boost the microphone level ?
Thank you for the help and sorry for my english

The answer to this question is in this forum, please use search and you'll find the solution to your problem.
Here's one, but you will find more when you search: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3246277
As you can see, the real solution is a physical change, and one you may not be equipped to do.
I am unaware of a setting you can change to at least have the microphone a bit louder.

help, main mic is broken. how to set up sub mic for calls?

Hello everyone, a while ago I dropped my phone and now the main mic is broken (the one near the charging port). So I can't record audios or make calls without using a headphone with a mic. BUT WHEN I RECORD VIDEOS THERE IS SOUND. I think that's because of the noise cancelation mic(the one on the upper right side of phone) For some reason it's activated during the video records and captures the sound.
How can I force my phone to use secondary microphone all the time? So that I can make calls and record sounds without changing the primary microphone.
well, I'm not a programmer but I have been trying to edit audio_policy. conf and audio_policy_configuration.xml files.
Apparently there are 2 input sources for microphones. built-in mic and built-in back mic. I have tried deleting these or somehow ' disabling' them. but nothing happened. I can still capture sounds while recording videos but the very same damn microphone wouldn't work while recording voices.
How hard is it to simply disable the main mic and use the noice cancelation mic as the main one? I'm sure you programmers can figure it out better than me ??
I'm facing the same issue, have you found any hack for that ?
Any luck bicho2015? My main microphone died on my Pixel 4 and I would like to reroute to the other 2 built-in mics.
