AOSP ROM for Walleye 1.0 [8.1] [OPM1.171019.014] - Google Pixel 2 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other

MODERATOR EDIT: THREAD CLOSED
OP, to have this thread re-opened, please see the PM I sent you and reply.
This is from the Latest AOSP code as of this post.
README:
I was bored and wanted to flash my Pixel 2 with a clean AOSP rom, but after searching XDA, Google and twitter I decided that no one cared to make one despite the phone being out for some time now. So I decided that I had to do it my self. This ROM is a flashable on a unlocked Pixel 2 via TWRP This is Pure AOSP except of course for the vendor partition. IF you like it I can keep teaching myself how this stuff works as I have a lot of free time and 2 days ago had no idea how to build a ROM. Im here to help if you want to build stuff too, I feel like this device deserves more custom software.
NOTE: GApps on 8.1 will only show up after MAgisk is applied so flash that first if you plan to Googleify this ROM
NOTE 2: AOSP dosent include Active Edge support or any Google apps out of the box, Yalp and F-Droid are a couple of good options for installing APKs as the Webview browser now included in AOSP is very limited and can not download APK files.
Basic install (You will lose all data, not erasing the data would cause problems anyway):
1. Unlock your Bootloader using fastboot (fastboot flashing unlock)
2. Download the latest TWRP and boot it (fastboot boot '/home/ahron/twrp-3.2.1-0-walleye.img')
3. Sideload the ROM after turning on sideload under advanced in TWRP, or push the APK to the device with (adb push /sdcard) and flash from there
OPTIONAL:
- After Booting the device install F-Droid by pushing it over adb or using the (adb install) command
-Flash the latest beta of Magisk NOTE: You need to do this before trying to flash OpenGApps or they will not show up.
-Flash the latest 8.1 beta of your prefered OpenGapps package
If you you cant figure anything out here try to look it up, I didnt understand any of this until I did and no one showed me the way. Do you know da way? But if all else fails send me your questions and ill do my best.
MOD EDIT: DOWNLOAD LINKS REMOVED
HELP REQUEST: Id like to update this in the future and have tested an ota a built but due to the A/B partitions im confused, can someone please explain how to avoid activating the seemless update partition switch from A to B for me, Id really appreciate a detailed explinations, reading the forums isnt making a lot of sense to me, seems like thered be a way to code it into your zip file like Magisk does.

Rom must be sideloaded or pushed correct? Curious as to why normal flashing didn't work.
I had someone else build omni and i couldn't get it to flash correctly so wondering if the issue is the same thanks.

Normal flashing works those are just two ways to get them to your device. If you download it to the device through a browser or somthing that should work fine too, sorry for any confusion. Just sharing how i got it on my device.

I think the OPs point of the ROM is to be non Google thus no gapps.

can I install the ROM normally in TWRP? ( install from zip)
just like any other ROM too.

Finally, first rom... I am so disappointed with lack of custom roms like lineage or RR....

Pretty sure you could make your own builds, if you are so disappointed.
And thank you to the OP for making this. It's awesome seeing progress.

Not sure what I am doing wrong but I get stuck on the Bootloader screen with "Error:LoadImageAndAuth Failed: Load Error". Here are the steps that I followed. Downloaded the zip from Google Drive. Bootloader was already unlocked so booted into the twrp through fastboot w/o flashing it and sideloaded the zip. Flash process completed successfully and booted into the boot loader screen

Thank you so much for a rom finally! ive been waiting for it for ages! can you point me in the right direction on how to build your own ?

Boost Mobile Galaxy S2 SPH-D710BST

Ok, I'm sincerely hoping the mods don't flame me for posting this thread, but I wanted to talk about the experience I had getting a Sprint ROM flashed over and working properly on a Boost Galaxy S2. I've looked and most of the threads regarding this phone are in the "EPIC 4G TOUCH" threads. And yes, while the Boost Galaxy S2 is identical to its Sprint twin, it has been a bit of a pain for me to get it rooted and running a custom ROM on Boost, as most of the ROM's out there are designed for Sprint. I wanted to start this thread to let anyone else know the steps I had to take to get this thing up and running 100% on Boost Mobile.
First, I used a root guide (the link to which I cannot post the link because I'm a new user) at AndoidForums posted by guyphs (much thanks to you) to get it rooted. This method uses an AGAT kernel and recovery, which I don't particularly care for. So the next step was to flash CWM, which wasn't difficult, it just took two tries to flash and work correctly. Once you're rooted and have your custom recovery running, **MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP*** (TRUST ME, this will come in handy later).
Once it was running, I got Paranoid Android 2.56 from you fine folks here on XDA. Once I flashed it, the problems began. The first thing was a MMS problem (which is common), but CM-based Paranoid Android doesn't like to let you use the dialer codes to edit the MMS proxy settings to fix this. You actually have to open the Voice Dialer then speak "Open APN's" to edit these thing. Once you delete all the old APN's, you can create a new one based on the original Boost Settings (which you should have written down before you started all this mess), After that the MMS started working.
Then I noticed that I wasn't getting a 3G or 4G Data connection. Come to find out, the Sprint ROM flashed a different modem version, so I had to find a different modem that was compatible. That turned out to be the FI27 Modem. Once I flashed this modem, the data connection was restored, but I noticed that the 3G/4G data speeds were HORRIBLE and the signal strength was very low. But the ROM and everything was working correctly so I made another Nandroid Backup (more on that in a minute)
Turns out, I had an old PRL. The newest Boost PRL is #61009 but the one I had was a Sprint PRL. Since I know jack-squat about CDMA workshop and editing/flashing PRL's, I wanted to find an easier way. Turns out there is a WAY easier way. Just use your aforementioned Nandroid Backup (the first one) to flash back to Stock ROM w/root. Once the phone reboots, your PRL will be updated to 61009 when the Network sees the new device connecting.
As soon as the PRL updated, I simply flashed back to my Paranoid Android image, and BANG! everything is working smooth as silk and super fast. I didn't lose the PRL or the FI27 modem during the flashing back to PA.
And I only pay $50 a month. no more getting the shaft from Verizon, and I was one of the "lucky ones" to have Unlimited Data.
**MODS. Sorry if I posted something that was posted before. I searched but couldn't find any post along these lines. Just wanted to let the folks know about how to get this sucker running like a champ.
I've done exactly everything you've done, and STILL I can only send mms messages, but I still can't receive them, I erased all the APNs and entered a new one with the following settings...

,,,,,,,,,,you can get all of these for our phone at [ it has them all. Btw if anyone can post in development. Please let me know. Our phone is not supported by mobile Odin. Its a shame. It would make life a lot easier for us. Ty Won't let me post link. So Google rwilco12 android repository. I don't understand why its so difficult here to help people. Anyway Google that and you should hit on his page. if not pm me. Hopefully I'll have some freedom there..good luck guy and post back
I like Rwilco12's repository. It's a great place to find individual files when you don't know where else to look.
I also understand how.you feel about posting links and such here.. I know why those rules exist, but I really can't see how posting helpful links is somehow a 'bad thing'. I could understand if I were posting links to garbage.. But when the intent of the post is purely beneficial, I think you should be allowed to post a link...even if it's the first post you've ever made in the forums.

Try this it worked for me ..flash in recovery...it should do the trick
I was noticing after some testing using the PA Rom that my 4G speeds were noticeably slower. I had never really tested them before while I was running the Stock Rom, so I didn't have a baseline to go off of, thus I didn't really know what kind of speeds to expect from Boost/Sprint.
So on the PA Rom with the FI27 modem, I would average between 500-800kbps download speeds over 3G. With 4G, the average was about 1.5-2mbps.
To test, I went back to the Stock Rom, unrooted, and was getting close to 1.5mbps down on 3G and 7-10mbps on 4G.
After rooting, the data speeds were painfully slow. About 50kbps down on 3G and 200kbps down on 4G! Ouch..
I read on here, that custom kernels will destroy Data speeds..I can confirm this.. lol
So I flashed this kernel from SexTape(much thanks) over at SXTP Developers: SXTP_Agat_BSTFI22-v0.1.0.zip WHICH, fixed all my borked data speeds.
This kernel comes with the custom recovery from Agat63(thanks for all your hard work Bro!) so if you're running the Stock FI22 Rom, all you have to do is flash this and SuperUser, and you're ROOTED.
Only thing is, my Baseband and Bulid Number now show up as FL24, not FI22. But don't really care, as long as my phone is stable and running as fast over the mobile data network as it is now.
Thanks to Sextape and Agat63 for their work on this phone.

If everything else is showing FL24 - which is the current Boost build - you may want the FL24 kernel + repack. Has a few more tweaks than the stock FI22... not to mention the Exynos exploit patched:

Garwynn,
This is what I'm showing now under About Phone. Is this correct or do you think I need the FL24 repack.

I flashed the FL24 v2.0 you linked to.. My data speeds were WAY lower than what i was getting with the FI22 v1.0 kernel repack.
I flashed back this morning because I use my Nexus 7 tethered to my SGS2 at work and wouldn't be able to tolerate low data speeds.lol

I was never rooted before this. This is my first attempt at rooting my device will your link still work? And i cannot flash via ODIN because my windows will not recognize my phone, i am trying to figure out how to use Heimdall on my mac, do i just flash the same file in heimdall?
I think i figured out how to install via heimdall, i must extract the .tar and i end up with a zImage, then i use cli to flash heimdall: heimdall flash --kernel zImage
I will let you know my results, thanks garwynn.
edit: worked like a charm. device is rooted now thanks a bunch dude. that really helped out
Garwynn, has anyone had any luck getting Google Now working with this ROM? If it's deodexed, we should just be able to flash it over right?

[Solved!] - Harmon Kardon - Breaking Data with Viper Rom Issue

I have the latest Viper Rom 1.5.0.
I've tried flashing hk_enable_and_adsp_update_v3.zip, But it broke data.
I've also tried flashing lyapota's mod, but it also broke data.
I've then tried flasing the hk_enable, and then lyapota's mod after reboot (one after the other as I saw was suggested) but it still broke data. Any suggestions?

Hey,
That was one of the first things I tried, but I tried it again. Still no luck.
I noticed that the 4G icon changes in style. Maybe it was meant for a different phone other than Verizon? But I see that people with Verizon running Viper Rom got it to work as well so that can't be the case.
Anything with APN changes maybe?

Have a look at APN - APN type and Apn Roaming protocol - are they set to IPv4/IPv6 or just IP4?
Try setting to IPv4/IPv6
I'm also on viper rom and flashed two days ago Harman Kardon mod and everything works fine.

For whatever reason, I don't see APN Roaming Protocol.
APN Type is "default/hipri/dun/supl", I believe APN Roaming Protocol is supposed to be right under APN Type but it isn't.

Go into settings
Wireless and networks
Mobile networks
Access Point names
It should show your WAP - Mine says Vodafone Contract WAP
click on it
Scroll down until you see
APN Protocol
click on it
You should see 3 options
IPv4
IPv6
IPv4/IPv6
Click on IPv4/IPv6
At the top you will see three small horizontal dots - click on them - then click save
Test to see if you have data
If it works do the same for APN roaming protocol
EDIT - if that doesn't work I'd consider flashing your backup to get back to how it was.
Here's what I have: Attached.
I see options that are VodaFone related in the Network Preference List. But I believe those are unrelated and when I click them, they don't do anything.
Under Access Point Names, I have VZWINTERNET, as in the screen shot. And the rest are the options when I click that APN.

The two options I have are under APN type - it is either sense or your carrier that makes it different.
Can you find the APN protocol option elsewhere in settings?

I've checked and googled it. It looks like the GSM phones have that option but my CDMA/Verizon is a little more locked down.
I got it !
I had to start fresh with the files. Somewhere along the way, the files might have gotten corrupt because they weren't working like the fresh download did.
I redownloaded the files and went through the steps again. Instead of the H/K Showing up in the setting like it did the first time (And broke date the first time), it didn't show up at all.
I followed step 2 and edited the XML. In which case it still didn't show up, but data was still working.
I followed the last step and downloaded the verizon_hk_settings_fix.zip because my phone apparently uses a different settings .apk, rebooted and now all is working.
Thank you guys so much for the suggestions!

Nice one, Glad you got it sorted.
Just a note for the future (you probably already know this)
Re the music enhancements that these zips can give you - to me there is no replacement for good quality audio files and playing around with EQ settings to you get what sounds good for you (after all it is subjective_
They take up more space admittedly but lossless audio (FLAC) files are much higher quality and will do more for your ears than a piece of what is after all really tweaked EQ settings. (Which you can do yourself with the right software)

[Q] No Mobile Data at all? -- 4.4.3 Shiny

I really, really hope this hasn't been asked before and I apologize in advance...
I have a GNex (MAGURO)
and today I CLEAN flashed 4.4.3 Shiny Rom and flashed the region appropriate maguro radio as well.
After booting up and all the setting up was done, I was not able to connect to my mobile data at all. Wifi works excellent but as soon
as I turn on my Mobile Data, I get absolutely no connection whatsoever. I've rebooted several times and nothing has changed.
I've never experienced a complete data drop like this on all the other roms i have flashed for previous builds.
HELP is needed ASAP because i rely heavily on my Mobile Data and my phone is basically useless without it.
Thanks
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are you sure you flashed the shiny rom for maguro? This sounds like exactly what would happen if you flashed Toro instead.

this is the thread i got the rom from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-6-4-14-shiny-rom-ota-stock-android-t2642375
and im 100% sure its maguro
Hmmm. I was hoping for an easy solution..... If it were me and I had a backup where data worked, I'd go back to that and see if it still works. Then maybe try a different 4.4.3 rom like cyanogenmod or paranoid to see if it's other roms that also have this problem. After all that, if you still want shiny, try deleting your file and download it again. Hope this helps! Good luck. Let me know if it works out.

just to make things clear, Galaxy Nexus (GSM) is maguro...right?
I was hoping for an easy one too lol..
I actually have a backup already and the data works perfectly on it (AOKP 4.2.2)
I've flashed Shiny 4.4.3 before today and had the same problem. I posted this same question on the thread that i got the download from (rootzwiki)
but got no response so i just reverted back to my AOKP 4.4.2 backup. I really want 4.4.3 so thats why I came back to Shiny.
i will definitely look into other 4.4.3 roms and retry downloading the Shiny file. I will let you know if things work out.
Thanks for your help
UPDATE...
I have flashed LiquidSmooth 4.4.3 and it has sat in my phone for over 12 hours and the data works normal again...
Although the data works, im not too keen on some of the features included like the boot animation, fonts and the liquid blue themed icons.
yes i understand its because its THEIR rom and they can put what they want. But, my original goal was to get a 4.4.3 rom as close to stock as possible while awaiting AOKP's 4.4.3 rom release (because im very familiar with aokp roms) and it's the only alternative i have for a 4.4.3 rom with working data. so i guess im going to have to make do with what i have and wait.
thanks to whoever helped
HOWEVER
i am still open to suggestions on how to get 4.4.3 Shiny Rom working on my Gnex

Why did you flash a new baseband? Not a necessary step...so in the end you did have the same radio before and after flashing ShinyRom?
You need to change your APN from IPv4/IPv6 to just IPv4.
Settings -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> Internet -> APN protocol: Switch from IPv4/IPv6 to just IPv4 option.

I didn't think it was a necessary step but the reason why i flashed a new baseband was because i thought my previous baseband was outdated(?) for some reason that i cannot explain.
and yes, in the end, i had the same radio before and after flashing ShinyRom (radio: UGLH1)
_____________________
i dont know much about radios due to the fact that i ran AOKP for numerous builds and never had a problem with my mobile data before, and so going into ShinyRom and having problems with my data, i was not exactly sure what i was doing "trying" to fix the problem.

[Q] APNs not visible with Cyanogenmod 12.1

When I navigate to the APN settings, no APNs are visible.
The following message displays:
Access Point Name settings are not available for this user.
Question: What type of user do I need to activate so I can see the APN settings?
(Or is this the wrong question to be asking? Need to see APN settings.)
My hardware, software and network:

Software: cm-12.1-20150619-NIGHTLY-d2spr.zip

I am having this same exact issue! I been looking all over Google and XDA the last week or two without any luck.
Most sources say install APN Backup and Restore app, but it still doesn't work. It gives some other permission error. Then when using /system/mover app to move APN Backup and Restore to system, it fails and gives some other error in turn breaking the app, which then has to be reinstalled to be back in the same situation as before.
Some say install a flashable APN fix, if you are lucky to find one for your carrier. I am using this Sprint S3 flashed to Pageplus, and I can not find a Pageplus or Verizon APN file to flash anywhere. Perhaps you will get lucky and find one Ting? or a custom rom with a Ting variant? I have not seen any of these yet, but not sure if they exist somewhere. If not I think we are screwed? There has to be a way...
I have experienced this on all 5.x and some 4.4.x roms for this device, and I have not found a solution anywhere yet. I highly believe it is related to this: link If anyone is able to shed some light on this issue (or the solution) would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see the system folder or the file you mention (system>etc>apn-config.xml) Saafir.
I have created two APNs needed for Ting, but I need to remove any APNs that may cause any problems. Right now I don't see any APNs, even tho I have created and saved two APNs (which helped bring data to my phone).
So back to my original question, what type of user do I need to activate so I can see the APN settings? Thanks for your time and help.

The settings are only there if you already have apn installed. That setting doesn't allow you to create apn there, it only allows you to choose between installed APNs. If you have none, then it will say unavailable for this user.

I have them listed in system>etc>apn-config.xml, but it still not viewable in the APN section of settings. MMS definitely isnt working and mobile data isnt always working. Im using the 0714 nightly for on my Sprint GS3 that im using with boost.

I thought someone said it wasn't required. I have flashed the universal boost fix r2 that I used with the nightly from about 2 months ago. Doesn't make a. Difference. Even re flashed it. I'm assuming that's e only way that setting xml got there in the first place. Is there another fix that I'm unaware of?

Full wipe, flash rom, gapps and boost apn fix. Boot up fully once, then back to recovery and flash rom and gapps again (no wipe, no apn fix this time).

I understand your concerns, but you can check the source I provided. It's the same thread where the DP was released. The OEM image is even the exact same. You don't have to believe me, I just saw that this wasn't posted here yet, so I figured I'll link it for english speaking audiences, who don't want to use Google Translate or simply don't know that it's out there.
Greetings!
EDIT: Goddamn, I just wanted to share some screenshots to confirm it's indeed legit, but unfortunately I can't even post pictures because of my low post count.

I didn't edit anything, I installed the OEM images and the DP5 system & boot images and then dirty flashed the full release. I don't know if that makes a difference. In build.prop my device is listed as "seed"(GM 4G) but anyway it's still showing "Wileyfox Swift" in Settings

No, everything works. It's an official OTA from Google for an Android One device.
Followed the instructions in first post...installed fine but I'd recommend a wipe of cache, data otherwise first boot hangs.
Everything seems to work but you can see its an initial build...jerky animations for example. After a brief play I restored my CM 13 backup. There's a world of difference in polish and options between the two at the moment.
is it purely stock android? or is it as customizable as cyanogenmod/os?

Question..
There is no wifi eap sim auth in this rom.
Where can I enable/tweak/mod wifi eap sim auth on Android 7.0 ?
On 6.0.1 There was an option in wifi options to select.
Thanks
Can anyone confirm that cellular works? I thought Android One used a different modem to the Swift.

Edit: Found new bug with Bluetooth, I can't turn it on, in settings it says Bluetooth disabled and WiFi EAP SIM support is not available in settings...
Otherwise ROM is stable, battery performance is superb (better than marshmallow or cm), no problems with lagging, network etc... I've tested only one SIM, I don't know if dual sim works , othervise in settings second sim slot is listed.
I've successfully rooted rom with lastest chainfire supersu, waiting for xposed framework nougat support.
FOR INSTALLING I've used the SIMPLE twrp method:
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Flashed lastest TWRP
3. Cleaned everything
4. downloaded this zip
https:// docs.google.com /uc?id=0B6yu5JrPyY9maUJfMGNKai03VEk&export=download
5. Flashed it in TWRP recovery, first boot takes more time, google apps are included.
