Upgrade Guide: This is the complete package, download a good decompression. , Is simply extract the files into the SD obtained dload root shutdown - then the power button and volume up and down keys with the press, three built strong brush, it can be upgraded to 118 from 117 online, update instructions from Huawei pollen club.
This update seems not many things, but it seems a lot of optimization, more importantly, to the glory of three updates after unlocking BL 118, the real REC out. Glory III and P6 did not much difference, as we all know, then this update to P6 118, is not it really a real REC it? Let us wait and slowly,

If someone tries and gets a failed update, they might have to unroot first. Some chatter on that on Chinese forums.
I installed this. Haven't had enough time to explore everything, but there are some things added. Antutu results are as usual.

Install via soft update and you will have GAPPS. I just did it and everything from B122 works here too.
ps - Asphalt 8 and Nova 3 are working without any lag /these games are lagging awful in B122/! First impressions are that the battery is optimized too! Great!
Apparently this ROM B118 China, finally we have fully unlocked the bootloader of the loader.

How did you update, and from which version of firmware are you updating?
@amonev, did you do a factory reset before, or after, doing the soft update?
I've been struggling to download this since last night already, otherwise I'd already have updated by now.

Yes, bootloader was always unlocked ! only agent loaders check signature for all partitions , and we can not install anything without Huawei signature !
When you check > fastboot oem get-bootinfo :
if you will see < waitng for device > : you should uninstall this driver with yellow triangle from Device Manager " android sooner single adb interface " and reconnect device in fastboot mode !

So basically the update did nothing? Appearantly the chinese already made a recovery that they call a "true recovery" probably overwrites the built-in recovery in the recovery.img, which I believe should be able to flash everything without the need for a signature from hw

To be able to flash recovery.img on /recovery partition you need a signed image ! ... so it seems that they managed to sign this recovery image ...
But the question is : can we rewrite this recovery images ? or maybe we will have access to the second partition recovery ....

That recovery was supposedly used for the unlocked Honor 3.
The following is the post by Riyou:
update from the official journal of view, B118 changes are not large, in fact, B118 has allowed unsigned mirror normal programming (ie our own modified boot. img, recovery.img, not after Huawei signed a special tool for image files), you can create a real civil society after the recovery or any modified boot.img, and for the sentence we are easy to understand, then it is already unlocked P6 B118 BL (actually no lock from the beginning, just to do a signature image file checksum)
Well, the first thing to "unlock BL" is produced after a third-party recovery, I have tested the glory of 3 recovery available (author ATX Team Dragon big stars), I tested the Unicom version, mobile and telecom version not yet measured, guess available
Note: Brush recovery on the premise that you must brush B118, best brush complete package

r1 - Custom ROM starter template - Mate 8 NXT-L29 B180

Ahead of my own MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Mate 8, which is coming soon, I've created a custom ROM starter template for anyone who wants to have a go. It's a bit different.
Basically, this ROM template will let you create your own custom ROM VERY easily. Easier than ever before. All you have to do is...
download my ROM template zip
make the changes to the system of your phone just as you'd like them for your custom ROM
run some commands on your device via ADB
add the resulting files to the template zip
That's it! No messaging around with install scripts, no rebuilding anything complex, just mod - and go!
Preparation
ONLY if you are completing the process for the first time, you need to set up a file on your microSD card - so launch and ADB shell and type the following commands...
Code:
touch /sdcard/exclude
echo app > /sdcard/exclude
echo priv-app >> /sdcard/exclude
ROM build
Once you have your system up and running how you want it, and you're ready to distribute it (just the system and cust dirs mind, it won't pull the data dir, so your personal data is safe), reboot to recovery, launch an ADB shell and type the following commands:
Code:
mount /system
tar -X /sdcard/exclude -zcvpf /sdcard/system.therest.tar.gz /system/
tar -zcvpf /sdcard/system.apps.tar.gz /system/app /system/priv-app
mount /cust
tar -zcvpf /sdcard/cust.tar.gz /cust
You'll then end up with 3 new files on your SD card - system.apps.tar.gz (which is apps and priv-apps from system), system.therest.tar.gz (which, as the name suggests, is the rest of the system partition!) and cust.tar.gz with is the cust partition contents.
Update the template zip with these 3 files and that's it. It's ready to distribute for people to flash via TWRP! If you have updated the boot image, you'll need to replace that too, the easiest way is to do a TWRP backup then pull that file from the SD card and drop it into the template zip as boot.img. That's really it!
I hope this inspires a few people to start playing around with custom ROMs for the Mate 8.. more cool things coming soon!
Oh and the all important template file...
DOWNLOAD - r1-customromtemplate-huawei-mate8-nxtl29-next-b180.zip [MEGA]
NOTE: You should not flash a template ROM onto a different version base ROM. You should always ensure you have a stock dload ROM to restore to if needed. Use at your own risk!

Nope, wrong!
They released this one a year ago (aprox):
Mate 8 OpenSource %28 NXT Android 6.0%2Ckernel%2Coverseas%29 .tar
They have just released this one in 2017, around febraury:
NXT-MM_EMUI4.1_opensource.tar
And no, they are not the same! latest is still Marshmallow yes but it has been released recently. I know cuz I have been looking all over for this, like I said I have them both.
You are correct, its outdated since Mate 8 is already in Nougat but the fact of the matter is that emui 4.1 seems to work better on the mate 8, better than emui 5.0 (nougat) and seems like Huawei is never going to release a polished Emui 5.1 ROM for the Mate 8 and of course they are not going to release the Open Source, they dont want us upgrading the mate 8, they want us to buy the Mate 9.

My bad then, I was pretty sure it was the same. Still, it sucks that's only EMUI 4.1, newer software may make LOS 14 happen quicker (and easier, but still not easy).
I asked by mail with Contact Us form in huawei site to release an updated open source software, maybe if enough people do this we can make it happen ?
(I know we're a bit off topic here but it just went as is).
That's what they answered :
Dear Sir/Madame,
Thank you for contacting Huawei France Customer Care.
We are happy to see your interest in the Mate 8 and we will forward your feedback and request to the proper departments. We can assure you that at this point we are doing our best to improve user access to our software.

Theres a good chance that Lineage 14 could happen for our mate 8 because there already are 2 AOSP ROMs on Nougat 7.1.2 version that have been developed for the Honor 8, a device that happens to be almost identical to the Mate 8.
I have been thinking on starting a challenge for developers, all the Mate 8 owners that want AOSP ROM should chip in and raise certain amount of money then we should offer this money as a prize for the developer that delivers a stable AOSP ROM for our mate 8!
LAOS 14 is already on its way courtesy of @_skypol0 who already brought us LAOS 13 but without any 7.0 source is not the easiest thing and he is the only one on this project so far. Anyway he's working on it. And a lot of thanks to him for this.

I do not have the experience with ROM building, forking, ... etc. here.

Edit. Nevermind
Anyone with the LTE version of this can you upload to a cloud link so that I can download? I would rather not waste my time having to send an email to [email protected] just to get it. Thanks

Yeah it's a pain to unlock the bootloader. But since I need to install Google Workspace device policy I have no other option
@Crypto18 - There is a possibilty to unlock the bootloader by using dc-unlocker - amount about 4 Euro. I had success in doing so a year ago. It would be very nice to get an AOSP-ROM für the tablet.
I think, I unlocked it with dc-unlocker, too, four years ago or so.
I would be happy to have any clean/empty/fresh AOSP ROM for this tablet, as up to today it is still fast and really usable.
If you need any help, I would also be eager to learn how to do it (building a ROM). @Crypto18

I did the DC-unlocker thing today as described in the sticky, so it still works. Somebody in this thread mentioned that it worked for him without the OEM unlock option (it disappeared in EMUI 4), but to be on the safe side I had done a downgrade to EMUI 3 before (the oldest one I found didn't have a working dialer, I didn't try the landscape calculator trick to activate the manufacturere mode, but updated to a later EMUI 3 version that had a a working dialer: "Huawei MediaPad M2-801L Android 5.1.1 EMUI 3.1 B007.zip").
I am now looking for a working TWRP (see my post in the sticky thread a few minutes ago).
If you manage to unlock your bootloader, I would be willing to go the "build your own version from scratch" way with you. I have experience as embedded Linux developer one decade ago, but never did it for Android. Would be more fun to have a second person interested in this "classic" tablet.
@coocooc , @Crypto18 ,
Have you made any progress with developing a custom rom?
@coocooc - Please search for "TWRP-3.1.0-recovery-MediaPadM2-10.0-LISZT-A01L-A01W.img" in TWRP. That's the TWRP you're looking for.

Crypto18 so far did not come back, and I didn't start the journey yet.
I am on the way to prepare a Linux laptop for building Android and SBC stuff, but family life does not allow to spend many hours on my pet projects.
I wrote a mail to Huawei to get the latest sources (EMUI 4), but the first level support shown on their GPL site couldn't fulfill the wish. They gave me a developer address to apply to; let's see how this ends.

Thanks for the hint! I will try this TWRP version tonight. Which EMUI version are you using with this TWRP (EMUI 3 or 4)? Is there something to check in the flash layout first, to succeed with this TWRP?
@coocooc - I'm using a Huawei Mediapad M2 10.W with Emui 3.1., Android 5.1.1.
If you're on Mediapad 801L, the above mentioned TWRP will not work for you!
I am using “TWRP-3.1.0-recovery-MediaPadM2-10.0-LISZT-A01L-A01W.img“ om my M2-A01W and it working without any problems.

@gelrav Oh that might be the reason for my problems as I do use the 801L version. What alternative TWRP ist available then?

Funny, the name of the TWRP file suggests that it is valid for both the L and the W versions of the M2-A01.
What is exactly the problem with this file?
I unlocked both the phone und FRP on my device before installing this file.
I am on EMUI 3.1. and Android 5.1.1.

Need some simple help

I've bricked my mate SE, I'm familiar with flashing but the name schemes from team MT is throwing me off. I bricked my phone when it was on EMUI 5.1.
From the Multi Tool it tells me I need 5 images. I can find 3 out of the 5, I'm missing the cust.img, and userdata.img(I assume this one is optional).
I've unpacked the UPDATE.APP files and can't find any that have a cust.img inside.
BND-L34CC567B330 (8.0.0.330) <--- Is this for EMUI8 ?
If so, where can I find one for EMUI5.1
I apologize if this are newby questions, Never worked with a Huawei before.

The full ota files are not really full. And you were on 5.1 so you should use nougat to unbrick, not Oreo. The version you mentioned you are pulling files from is Oreo.
You have two options as I see it.
Not sure how bricked you are so that makes it more difficult.
But search team mt for (bond-l34) you will find mate se nougat rom b130. And it should have all the images inside .
Other option is to use the images pulled from someone else's device. I have links to these backups. If you want

Thanks for the response. I'll give bond-l34b130 a try.
Can you provide link to the backups in case it doesn't work?
Oops, you updated your reply with the link. Thanks!

Mate 8 [Oreo Upgrade] unofficially NXT-AL10 8.0.0.829(C00) EMUI 8 + Kangvip Rom

Huawei Mate 8 [Oreo Upgrade] unofficially - NXT-AL10 8.0.0.829(C00)
EMUI 8 - Android 8 [optionally Kangvip System]
Test device:
Huawei Mate 8 (NEXT) - Model Number: Huawei NXT-L29 - Build Number: NXT-L29C432B583 OTA updated - free device - without branding - with root andTWRP recovery.
Since March no update has arrived on the Mate 8 (C432) and I expect it, Oreo will never arrive here either. So I've worked out a way to get Android 8 on the device.
It's really worth it, because the Mate 8 is still capable of easily keep up with the latest smartphones.
However, the "conversion" is quite complex and risky. This whole thing is also hard to undo. Consider participating well here. Knowledge of the subject is absolutely indispensable for the following actions. If you don't have an "overview" here, it's better to leave it alone, because the risk of this entirely up to the user. How to work with HiSuite, the Firmwarefinder and ADB, I will not go into more detaildescribe. I assume that you have a basic knowledge of this.
Requirements: - Firmware C432B582/83, - Root, - OEM and FRP unlocked, - USB Debugging on and HiSuite.
Copy the Firmwarefinder App to the SD.
Remove all codes. Sim, Unlock, Fingerprint.
Make sure the stock recovery is on the M8.
Then the SRK tool must be used to rebrand the M8 to AL-10.
Download:*https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242687273
Boot the rooted M8 and connect it to the PC via USB.
Grant access rights.
Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking.
Start SRK Tool and start with option 7.
Option 9 sets the OEM info to cn (AL10).
During the flash process, access rights are requested on the M8 which must be confirmed.
After completion, the system reboots automatically. If the recovery now appears and a factoryreset or a data reset is requested, execute it.
After rebooting (may take up to 20 minutes), perform setup.
Reject or skip everything for security and Google, but sign up for WLan.
The Sim doesn't work yet. Continue not to pay attention.
Install the Firmwarefinder App. Search for this firmware there:
NXT-AL10C00B596, FF-No.: 144931 - 2,332 GB -
now GET AN UPDATE THROUGH DNS / MANUALLY / REGISTER UPDATE
Switch off M8.
Now activate DNS in the router/ look screenshot.
Now boot the M8 into the eRecovery.
Press Vol.+ and Power together and hold them. Release when the Huawei logo appears.
After a few seconds the eRecovery starts.
There on "Download latest version and recovery." "Download and recovery."
The B596 is now installed.
This will take a while, of course. Afterwards, the device reboots again. If a reset is requested again, execute it.
After the same quick setup as before, check the system update to see if an update to the B598 is offered. If so, perform this.
After completion and reboot, install the Firmwarefinder App again and search for this firmware:*
NXT-AL10C17B828 (8.0.0.828), FF-No.: 152726 - 2,292 GB -
Now to GET AN UPDATE THROUGH DNS / AUTO / RUN VPN SERVICE,
In the settings under System Update now execute the Oreo Update.
If the update B828 is not displayed there: In the Firmwarefinder the update via
GET AN UPDATE THROUGH Select DNS / MANUALLY / REGISTER UPDATE
and execute it via eRecovery.
After the reboot, in the system update via OTA the update to the
B829 is offered. Please execute it.
Now Oreo is installed and it gets regular updates via OTA.
You can now also install all updates via HiSuite PC and
even downgrades.
Unlocking:
Activate in the developer options: Allow ADB debugging in "load only" mode and
USB debugging. !! The correct order is important. !!
OEM Unlock (FRP) is no longer available.
Now reboot into the bootloader with USB connection and unlock the device with the Huawei Unlockcode via ADB.
Unfortunately, there is another Factoryreset after that.
After the reboot, set the two USB switches to the right again and then flash and root in fast boot mode via ADB TWRP. (Magisk 16.4)
Install and reboot the included modules in the Magisk Manager App.
Now the Sim card must be activated:
2018-08-17--11-32-28.cust.B829.zip download and unzip.
This results in the TWRP backup "2018-08-17--11-32-28.cust.B829".
Copy it to the SD card in your current TWRP backup directory
and restore it using TWRP restoring.
If this does not work, download and unpack CUST.rar. Then flash with adb: fastboot flash cust cust.img **
After the reboot the sim works correctly.
Now we have to make sure that all Google services work.
Install the GooglePlayStore.apk and try to login/set up your Google Account.
If this is not possible, the following must be carried out:
Install the App System App Remover.
Uninstall all Google Apps and Services.
(The busybox module must be installed in magisk.)
Install and run the Google Installer App.
Then reboot and everything should work.
You're done now!
ADB Flash Commands:
EMUI 5:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery M8.TWRP.EMUI5.img
EMUI 8/ Oreo:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP.M8.OREO.img
Finally I created a Kangvip system for you.[font=Hind, sans-serif] In the download folder you will find the TWRP backup:
2018-08-18--KANG.SYSTEM. Just put it in your TWRP backup folder on the SD card and restore.
[/font][font=Hind, sans-serif]Note on TWRP:
There is currently no TWRP recovery available for the Mate 8 with OREO.
That's why I borrowed it from the P Smart. You cannot use it to create backups. However, it is suitable for installing Zip´s.
All other operations should be performed "with caution". TWRP starts in Chinese language and must be set to "English".
[/font]You can find everything you need with the download link in the attachment.
Again, think really hard about doing all this. If the terms mentioned are alien to you, look them up on the net.
Don't you get it? Let it go.That all this works on my device does not necessarily mean that it is works for you, too. A brick is quite possible in case of incorrect execution.
Excuse my bad English, please. I translated it with DeepL translator.
Thank you G. Man. For your hard work, and this steps really need to be very focused :good::good:

Sorry man i didn't see this post, it doesn't matter what build is, you'll got the update normally via system update, you want debrand to chinese version or what? If yes, it's ok any MM build.
Which build you are in now?
I debranded to AL10 from L29 . Updated all the way from B192 to B596, but it's not updating after that. There are many oreo firmwares on FF including the one OP mentioned, I tried the proxy and the dns methid, both of them. But no updates in the system update section. My bootloader is unlocked.
i m waiting Oreo updating for Huawei mate 8 .. does anyone have information about it ? When will it come ? I still have got Nougat 7.0
