gapps 8.1 - Moto G5 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

I compiled gapps 8.1 unofficial. Thought I'd share. They are for any arm64 device. I've only tested picp and nano and as long as u flash while flashing ROM before first boot they work fine. If u boot first then try and flash they just keep giving errors and I'm not sure how to fix. But if u flash right after ROM they work fine. Anyway I'll continue to maintain every few days until they become official which by that time android p 9.0 will probably be out as from the look of things I've found on gerrit as I own a pixel device also.

Apologies. Saw the last post, and missed the first.
I recommend installing the smallest GApps package and adding what you need, and nothing more.

Hello all
I went back to the p900, but only for a short time. My friend from the neighboring country gave me P900 for a few weeks. After 10 days of hard work, I made the first 6.0.1
Thanks

Gapps - if you get "Unfortunaly, Setup Wizard has stopped" on first cm load. This is common problem.
Try find older version: 22 March or early (my link). Or you can delete Start Setup app: go back to twrp - Mount -> system, then Advanced -> File Manager -> system\priv-app\SetupWizard - select current folder and delete. Then reboot in system.

That's fantastic news @Valera1978 ! Was thinking of trading this machine in because lack of development. But in the same time I love it. It's a brilliant device and it's a pity so few people has found that out. So THANKS A MILLION Valera!

The p900 will be available till end of the weekend, may be the next week also.
My plan simple - push another developers to continue work with cm13. In this limited time I want:
- make stable cm13 - building right now, hope today evening will be the first results
- clean-up my device/kernel/vendor (almost done)
- try fix camera - look like this is big issue for all exynos cm13 devices, but need at least try fix
And then I really hope thompatry will continue work with cm13.
And hope my sources will help make cm for related note pro 12.1 p901 and tab pro t900/t520. At least t900/t520 use the same kernel and very similar hardware.
Buggy Setup Wizard
How can I skip the buggy Wizard? It keeps popping up error messages.
My tablet was always diferent. I wasnt able to update to official lollipop (stuck on boot animation or every proces crashed) Cm12 is laging. And now, the android 6.0.1 is stack at boot screan animation. I also bricked it with official lollipop (from cm11 to official lollipop) and unbricked it with official kitkat. I really dont understand it. I need to do more with my little android development skills (i have successfully ported cm11 to friends phone, but only thanks it have little difrences from the official cm11 for the supported device) i dont know if u understand it but it doesnt matter
No way!! I wasn't expecting this.
I don't like posting this kind of useless message but I had to write a big THANK YOU. The thank you button doesn't cover how grateful I am for bringing a 6.0 ROM to our big guy.
Does the s-pen work? I can't flash it right now.

I had the same problem. Couldn't get past it. So I did a new clean install and this time without Gapps. The rom runs fantastic. Went to apk mirror and downloaded the latest GMS and installed it. Then I went to settings to add my G account. And couldn't go thru with it cause GMS keeps crashing. Don't know why. Gonna uninstall it now and install an older GMS

Edit: Tried an older variant of GMS and no success. Well just have to wait. Meantime its awesome running MM on what I thought was a dead device.
Thank you for this Valeria. Really appreciate you doing this. I've encountered most of the problems previously mentioned. Installed with Gapps. No joy. Did another install without. Running OK. One thing nobody else has mentioned is I can't see my external sdcard. Tried 3 different ones. 32, 15 and 4 GB. No luck with any. As for ROM. Nice. Fast. Smooth. Cheers
Cm 13.0 build is ready. Please see first post how to solve gapps problem. Tomorrow I'll check what is wrong with gapps. And then I'll start fix small problems. Still a lot of work, but now with working cm.
Wanted to first say I'm extremely grateful for your work; I've been keeping an eye on the CM threads here for weeks because this upgrade could make the P900 work like a new tablet.
I rely on it daily for college, so I'm kind of hesitant to flash just yet. But for those of you who try this ROM, I'd be very interested to know:
1) S-Pen -- For a separate S-Pen (the one with a separate eraser in addition side button), do the extra buttons work natively in LectureNotes or similar apps or does something else (e..g, "CM S Pen Add-on") need to be installed?
2) Encryption -- Does encryption/decryption work with TWRP 3.0.0.0 (or an earlier version)? Haven't had much luck getting TWRP to decrypt 5.0.2 stock, but as long as the OS can decrypt -- and I've been able to make backups -- I haven't worried about it.
3) Multi-Window -- In CM13, how adjustable are the windows? Can you achieve a setup where 2/3 of the screen is for one app while another app gets 1/3?
4) Camera -- Is it just the stock camera app that's having trouble? Would another app (e.g., Open Camera) work?
5) Microphone -- Is the mic working okay (e.g., for an app like LectureRecordings)?
6) Screenshots -- Is there a good solution for editing screenshots? Something that supports S-Pen? Being able to quickly crop and import things into LectureNotes is very useful. Noticed a new app called "Screen'it" in the store that might eventually be a good stock replacement, but I'd like to know if anybody's got a better solution.
Thanks so much for this! Just installed CM 13.0 build. Tried stock gapps 6.0 it failed. BUT....
Here is one *provisional* solution (you'll do better I'm sure) for the gapps setup wizard problem.
*Install the March 22 pico version.*
Of course, factory wipe.
Then follow the old school method and do both of these in ONE twrp session:
Flash CM 13.0 Marshmallow
Flash gapps 3/22 Pico
Wipe dalvik
Reboot
And you should be good to go!
This came up with another (older) tablet of mine, the Asus TF700t, which also returned the error when I first loaded a custom MM 6.01 version. That developer (Timduru) suggested using the March 22 Pico version of the gapps and it worked there.... and as I speak is now working on my Samsung Note Pro 12.2. I've not done anythng much with it yet, but will get back to you with anything I find.
Hope this is useful.
Blessings.
Okay... No Bluetooth. [Oops, correcton, Blue tooth *does* work.] No external sdcard. But very fast. Thanks and looking forward to usable version.

Thank you.
Yes, you are right, something wrong with the latest gapps. On p905 with latest gapps we are geting the same start wizard problem.
I finished the firmware late at night and had no time to check the different gapps.
Today will be full test and cleanup.
Remove sertupwizard from /system/priv-app to skip wizard. You can do it with twrp file manager
There is rallye no bit different betwene android 5.1.1 (cm12.1) and android 6.0.1 (cm13). The only one i really like is multi window. But still awesome work Valera.

Which one are you using?
I'm scared to update to any as tried from Lollipop to MM and got the dreaded bootloop
Did it twice, raw install second time round and same issue
Still looking to install newer OS but so hesitant
Interested to hear what's a good OS to upgrade to also
Sent from ASUS ZE551ML ^_^
Lineage OS = Stock Design
ResurrectionRemix = Stock Design also but more customization options
For the battery, it depends on the user.
Btw, I'm currently using RR
Hi, I'm currently using the latest Lineage OS for ZE550ML (Z008) plus Greenify app with root permissions to ibernate the apps that I don't care about when my zenfone goes to sleep. Thanks to Greenify I can have a lot more battery than the Marshmallow original stock rom.
I have one question: If I want to switch to ResurrectionRemix I have just to flash the ROM with TWRP, but what if i want to switch on CyanogenMod 13? Is it the same way? Have I just flash the CM13 with TWRP? Anybody knows? Thank you!

well, i don't want to be/sound like the 'captain obvious' here ; cos i'm currently facing the terrifying error message on boot: "Can't load invalid boot image"....BUT i strongly believe that the point of installing TWRP is to be able to flash custom ROMs to your phone right?
So what makes CM.13 different from the others? Just like any other ROM, i believe they follow a pattern...same way u installed LineageOS - same thing applies to all... UNLESS:
1. U are new to these whole stuff about flashing and
2. U are uncertain about the kind of ROM u are about flashing (whether or not its meant) for the Laser....
Conclusion of the matter: YES, IT IS THE SAME WAY

For sometime now (before bricking my zfone), i've been asking myself the same question...but as someone mentioned earlier, u r the better judge! But how can u be a better judge of things u hv no idea of right? awesome! u can follow these few steps to make a decision for yourself.
1. Install and use LineageOS for 2weeks (or more--to about a month), then wipe it off and clean install Resurrection Remix for the same period of time. Once u fall in love with one, that's the best for u....OR
2. Install both in dual-boot, use them interchangeably for about 2 weeks (or more). If u feel comfortable with one, u have your choice! then wipe clean the phone to make way for a clean installation of your favorite rom.....OR
3. (I won't advice u to do this, but it may help)....Watch videos about on YouTube, read reviews online et al....and make your decision based on that which u think is best for u....but once again, to pronounce judgement based on someones' experience can be hazardous!!!!!
THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT!!!
BTW, if you care to know what i'm using....Was about commencing my test with LineageOS b4 the zfone went crazy....going with the first option....

So you want to put a custom rom on your Galaxy S3 L710T... This thread is for you!

Hello, My name is Thomas. If you want read my story Below:
First im going to tell you about what has happened. I bought a galaxy s3 used from a pawn store for 50$.
I was like im going to root it. I rooted it with odin no problems I got the auto rooter from here and I rooted it.
So I looked for a custom rom I though L710T and L710 was the same thing... Boy was I wrong... I backed up my data like and I put lineage OS on my phone... Worked but No Data... I live on my Data I need it. Did some more research and discovered that the Phones where different... So I put a MIUI on my phone it was d2lte and no sim was found ok... then so I then proceeded with candy cat. Data worked and that was a nice change... So I used it for a week things where crashing rotation was broken but it was usable. So at this Current moment that i'm writing this im downloading OctOS and im going to report if it works and update my story. So I downloaded the refreshd2spr package the r3 version and it said I had d2spr which I dont and it terminated the install. So I downloaded the d2spr R2 and I put it on my system. Guess what? No Sim so now im downloading D2refreshspr R2. DID THE EXACT SAME ****ING THING IM LIVID NOW. DOWNLOADING R1 I know 100% its L710T. Im starting to hate this ****ing phone.... So I got it all to work! I had to patch the aroma installer to make it all work I patched the latest version R3
Old Stuff:
1.Ok so first flash twrp recovery with odin.
2.Wipe System, Data Davlik Cache, and Cache.
3.Flash the image posted below and read the description of it.
Here are the custom roms I have used:
Oct OS
Try to install this on your phone if it works Thumbs UP if not use the modified link.
Unmodified OctOS
Modified OctOs
The modified one is for people who are having trouble getting the firmware to install if the first link works don't worry about the modified
Version.
CandyKat
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50056287
Works but is glitchy sometimes. Also its an older version of android OctOs is 6.0.1 Marshmellow.
Those are confirmed working by Me if you have confirmed working custom roms let me know.
The new updated method
1.Get your Favorite d2spr rom.
2.go into recovery (I use TWRP)
3.Back up data if you want to keep stock and then wipe System, Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache.
4. Install your favorite Rom.
5.Flash the Modem Fix in this thread.
6.I usually boot to make sure everything works before I flash gapps
7.Flash Gapps (Google Apps) I use Open Gapps Stock
8.You have a Custom Rom L710T Phone.
If you need help reply to this thread for a faster response DM me.
Also a big thanks to MatBat99 he helped with the new tutorial!

There is a modem-firmware symlink zip that allows any d2spr (l710) rom to be flashed on a d2refresh (l710t).
Also, it's telling you that you have the l710 because octos also made a modified twrp made for flashing d2refresh builds on a 710t. Flip through their thread and you'll find it.

OMG man you don't know how long I've been at this can you link me too the thread? Or the file.. I want to update this thread so people can do that So I don't look stupid either lol
Here is the modem firmware zip. Not sure where the Twrp for triband is right now. But this zip will let you flash regular d2spr (l710) roms on your 710t. The special twrp won't be needed for this, that one is only for their (octos) 710t builds.

Just noticed you have already been there. All the info is in that thread
@aaronamv how's your progress? Need anything?
And trust me, you don't look stupid for anything. Alot of triband S3 owners have struggled with flashing that thing.

Users have been installing twrp for d2spr on d2refreshspr phones and then regular d2spr ROMs (at least octos, I don't keep up on the others) and have been having success. Nothing special required.
As always, make backups first.

I can report this doesn't work for Oct-M. Might work on OCT-N and I can also report it doesn't work for lineage os either.

Yes, I can only speak for N. Back in M I was with PAC (RIP) and we didn't support refresh at all.
IIRC, I think Octos did actually make a d2refreshspr build for M, but there were problems. I think they were mostly caused by all the APN settings for each sprint reseller.
Thx guys for this thread. have SPH L710 phone baseband L710VPUCOJ1. I would like to flash the ROM with good battery life but MM not LL or nougat. Any suggestions? I really dont want to flash wrong ROM.

This is for the triband. Only if your model has a "t" at the end.

Lineage OS 15.1

Hey,
does anybody know something about this ROM or did test it already?
http://lineage-os.ru/?d=elephone-p8000
Cheers
Tried it myself, it doesnt work to install it via TWRP
p8000
how to install
I have 14.1 running. Would like to try 15.1 but the download is really slow....
I am unable to use 15.1 :/ There is also a lineage os 16 version (same link) but I am also unable to install it via twrp. The P8000 is good, so sad that the development has stopped.
I unzipped 16.0 15.1 and 15.0 - their update-script mentions another device instead of the p8000. 14.1 mentions our device. Looks like the author did something wrong here (or I).
Sorry, for me it left my phone unusable.
Now since i have managed to get it up again, I want to leave this warning, don't try it, it might break things.
I have a question, can somebody give me a the /data/misc/wifi/ wpasupplicant.conf file please? My Wifi is unusable since i copied my supplicant.conf over to that place
stupid me. Red W"ine and messing in settings don't match ...
cheers

@utz
You could try the stock rom https://www.needrom.com/download/p8000-stock-rom-twrp-custom-recovery-easyupdated-all-in-one/
Is the wpasupplicant.conf rom based? Currently I have lineage-14.2-20171026-official-p8000.zip running from https://cloud.mail.ru/public/EXYz/rfqtmrzAn
I could give the file to you (or you unzip it yourself).
Regards
@Hamburml, thank you mate.
I have got one already, will flash the CR-Droid when my head is free, don't want to mess things up again.
have a great time

OnePlus One Official Lineage OS 15.1

Install instructions
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/bacon/install
Upgrade from official Lineage OS 14.1 possible but as usual clean install is better. Good time to wipe that phone clean.
Please update TWRP to the latest. If you have this device and don't know how to install please follow above procedure.
If you have device encryption enabled, consider removing as its a bit touch and go. As usual always have a full backup and separate copy of your data/pictures.
And the caveat you are responsible for what you do with your device applies and no one else is responsible for your action. People may be able to help if you ask kindly.
Official channel released finally on the 18th of July 2018.
Super effort by Devs specially jrior001, so please donate if you can.
PS I am just making this thread as there is none and it was released atleast 6 days ago and in no way taking any credit for the ROM or the work done by DEVS.

I am sure you are joking but for those who dont know its 3.2.1-0

Please select appropriate file and upgrade as image. If you dont know which file to use it means you need to read up more.
Is that cyanogenmods website some kind of fan site? It doesn't look official.
Kernel
Is anybody working on the included Kernel?
The background of my question is that I am experiencing spontaneous reboots when physically leaving a Wi-Fi connection, particularly my home Wi-Fi.
This defect was present in LineageOS 14.1 as well. There I could solve the problem completely by installing the latest Franco Kernel. However, in LineageOS 15.1 the Franco Kernel leads to very frequent soft reboots, like 5 in one hour, so I am now back on the stock kernel.
The only workaround I know is to disable Wi-Fi before leaving a Wi-Fi area, then re-enabling it.
Before other users jump in and state that they don't have this defect, not everybody has it. It is not clear under which conditions the defect shows up. It may depend on certain apps being present. But obviously it is not the apps' fault, as the fact proves that the Franco Kernel resolved it in LineageOS 14.1. Not to mention that no app has the right to reboot the system.
