A silicone case for the Pixel 2 XL that looks and feels like Apple's silicone cases? - Google Pixel 2 XL Accessories

I'm looking for something that looks like the official iphone x silicon case , I love the silicone cases for the iphone that apple sells, they offer decent protection + grip + and it doesnt make the phone super bulky! They're also just one color, very minimalistic.

There's a few on the case thread. Spigen thin armor and mpro snap case are 2 I can think of off the top of my head

The thin armor doesnt look particularly minimalistic, it has 2 parts that go together and also that top part it's just hard and probably slippery hard plastic
The snap case does not cover the top of the phone :crying:

These cases are polycarbonate, not silicone. I wouldn't compare them to the iPhone cases

Ops I didn't mean think armor I meant the Spigen Thin Fit. Also the Maxboost msnap case covers the top.

I have that mSnap. Awesome minimalistic case, great grip, very thin. I go between that and the Google carbon cloth case. Only issue with the mSnap - its a tight fit and a little hard to take off.
Both work perfect with the Invisishield TGSP.

That doesnt look anything like thr Iphone ? Not even silicone.

Not sure why you insist on it being silicone. It collects dust in pocket, hard as hell to slip in and out of pocket due to the rubber texture, and loses its shape over time from stretching.

Because silicone does not fly out of my hand like glossy /smooth plastic does , rubber is not slippery

I don't know this brand but for the price might be worth a shot

I almost posted the same thing a few days ago. Kinda funny how many hours I spent trying to find a silicone case for the OP. Not because I want one, but mostly because I am fascinated there isn't one.
Looks like lots of other people doing the same thing. Kinda a neat community we've got here.

I don't think that anything like the Apple case exists. I, too, am a lover of the Apple case and can't find anything like it for non-Apple products. Spent weeks looking for one for my V30 and now that I am looking at a Pixel 2 XL I started the same search. Nothing has come up. Most "silicone" cases are just TPU, not true silicone rubber. Love the feel. For those that haven't tried it, an amazing case. Sadly, not sure what I would use if I take the plunge.

Alluminium seems not to protect enough IMHO...
p.s. I have already the original crystal case from 1+1 store but it's too slippery ( I'm thinking to use on it the sandpaper to make it less sleppery, what's your opinion? )
Thank you all
I recently got the Diztronic Ultra TPU case (cannot post links yet, but googling it will take you to their site right away), would you consider that a bumper case? Seems like it offers decent protection and the looks and build quality is pretty solid as well.
Seems good but I cant understand if it has the back or not.. I prefer not to have it because I like the matte back of my OPO
Those kind of bumpers don't exist for the OPO unfortunately. Evolutive Labs failed to kickstart one, and then there's the aluminum one...
I've looked all over.
Diztronic cases have a backing.

That's very strange! Does the diztronic is thick or fits well in the pocket?
Indeed mate I'm looking for a bumper like this, can't believe there's only the cheap aluminum one.

Don't forget to hit thanks!
why doesn't someone get a normal tpu case and use a hot copper wire to cut out the back? it'll basically be a bumper and it'll look pretty decent
People, don't go and buy cases and think that cutting out the back would make a bumper case, it does not. The case looses all rigidity and the middle section is all floppy. I did this on a galaxy nexus and lg g3 case, neither time did it work. A bumper case is engineered differently to be rigid all around. Don't waste money thinking cutting a case would work.
Just my 2 cents.

The two parts are made from two different parts so they can be taken apart if enough force is applied. We would not advise this as the polycarbonate back is there to protect the back of your handset.
The G3 case I used was basically the same, hard back and tpu bumper, was the same, floppy once removed. It really makes no sense destroying a perfectly good case.
bump...
any bumper yet?
Hey! I use TPU diztronic case ( the one with bumpers on corners )
It protected my device when it feel on corners .
Makes your phone a bit heavy and shabby too.
Back doesn't feel like the sandstone , but we have to compromise for protection.
it is unbelievable that the oneplus one has no accessories at all!
the diztronic case is very expansive.. as there are no alternatives.
Diztronic here too.
I've had this Diztronic on my OPO for 2 years now, has protected several corner falls on concrete..

Having trouble finding a protective case, any top picks?

Hey guys,
I am late to the Nexus 5 owner parade, but none the less really enjoying this phone. I have not been able to find a good case for it though, most are very slim and cover the back and sides but not top and bottom. Amazon has mixed reviews on alot of the more popular cases, but I'm guessing most of the cases might be hidden somewhere deep in the pages since the phone is a few years old. Any suggestions on a good protective case, something like an otterbox commuter series style versus a defender, I don't need all out protection, just good dual layer setup. I like the ballistic case, but I have ordered 2 and both were labeled Nexus 5, but for the Nexus 6
Appreciate any advice and feel free to post up pics of your setup you recommend if you are using it.
Slim armor by Spigen. even the false one from china are very good quality.
I've had this on mine for 2 years now and inside my phone is absolutely mint condition still

@Ben36 is possible to use tempered glass with that case?
Yea it'd work, but the tempered glass would be under the cases own protective screen. Unless you mean rip the cases screen out all together, which again would work. But i honestly wouldn't say you'd need to. It's protected mine perfectly for 2 years and I'm on building sites etc

ringke fusion or spigen ultra hybrid. imo they've got quite good drop protection. almost 2 years using em.
I actually currently have the spigen ultra on my Z5. It's a really nice good fitting case. No where near the protection of the armourbox but still pretty good. I'd say if the armourbox was a 10 the spigen is about a 6-7 on protection. So if you don't want really rugged and just good decent protection then the spigen is really good

Nice looking, but I would not call it "protective" if you dropped it.
Use Bugdroid Case from Cruzerlite. Best Case. U can watch videos on you tube ppl dropping nexus 5 in it and its a good protection in less then 10$
I have the Tech21 Impactology case, and it's pretty good.

I have had both soft and harder cases from miniinthebox. Cheap and do the job well.
Best Case Brands!
If you need at least a list to choose, here are my picks:
1. Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circut
2. Caseology TPU Case
3. Diztronic Matte Black
4. Spigen Neo Hybrid (Best color is red
So far I have a history with Cruzerlite and Spigen, but I have recently bought a Caseology case from YouTube reviews that were really good.
Ringke Fusion. It's great and holds up well even after 1.5 years of use.
Spigen Slim Armor, durable and good looking. Totally worth the price.
Spigen
Spigen cases are pretty awesome, I have the Slim Armor one on my nexus, work perfectly and hasnt deteriorated after >1 year of use. They also have a lifetime warranty on the case I think so if it does mess up they will send you a new one for free

Any battery cases under $10 for nexus 5?
I've been pleased as Punch with this Ballistic case.
http://www.amazon.ca/Ballistic-Tough-Jacket-Case-Nexus/dp/B00IKYI4BK/
It's bulky and it isn't exactly cheap, but if you drop phones as often as I do it's worth it. Plus it feels pretty nifty in the hand.

Finally an Ultra Thin Case I love - Elago

So, I was looking for a new skin on my phone when I realized that I didn't want to do a wrap. If you're like me, you'll spend $10 and then remove the skin in like a week. After that you'll have to buy another one if you want to go through the process again. I'm not 100% into cases because of bulk and this is a damn sexy phone.
I scoured a few different places looking for a white thin case when I came across this: ELAGO THIN CASE
Here are my pros:
Fit is perfect
Cut outs are exact
This actually feels like it could be part of the phone
Has a Matte White look
Not TPU, its a hard plastic
Lots of compliments just in one day
Cons (Keep in mind, these are things people may not like but doesn't bother me)
Phone is still a little slippery
Buttons are now a bit more flush with the case
Zero lip over the glass to put upside down
The cut outs are exact so accessories are about 1mm from being perfect
I'm going back for the other two colors. This is an awesome case. Does anyone else have any ultra thin cases they can recommend.

Nope. User a screen protector.. Cases with lips exist. This is for absolute minimalists.
Just went to the mailbox to get the Elago case I ordered after seeing this thread. I'm coming from the Spigen Slim case and, even by comparison, the Elago is ridiculously thin! I love it, but it definitely needs to be paired with a screen protector in order to keep the phone somewhat safe.
It is probably not nearly as thin as that case, but I usually buy Ringke Fusion cases for every phone I get. I love the way it adds the extra tactile feel to the buttons, and has saved me from many drops even on asphalt and hard concrete. I'm not sure how it is on the S8+ yet as my S8+ is not here yet. but I've used Ringke Fusion cases on OP3T, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Xperia Z3, and I have loved it on every phone.

Not even close.
Just a heads up. The Elago scratches and scuffs pretty easily. Not that I expected much from such an inexpensive case but, I've been babying my black Elago and, within 24 hours it already has 4 or 5 long scuff marks across the back. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention. It would've been nice if they had used the same type of rubberized finish found on the Spigen and Ringke slim cases.

UPDATE - Other colors available now, Pink, White, Blue and Black Finally available but only in black for some reason. Holster looks good, and it has the usual built in crappy screen protector.
I'm going to pick one up, at least for the holster, I was disappointed in their UB case for the Nexus 6P, as it had really mushy buttons, but the holster was great with other cases.
Just got mine in the mail. Overall I'm not very impressed. As you mentioned it has that stupid built-in screen protector. I know that I could probably remove it if I wanted to although It's just a pain.
And is I believe I may have mentioned in another post, it just seems to add a ton of bulk to the phone. And what is an already large phone with the 18 by 9 aspect ratio it just takes up way too much space on my hip with the extra bulk. I am starting to get desperate! I think I'm going to consider some of the top loading holsters, such as the Verizon.
One thing I will say about this phone case though is that the volume and power buttons on the side are really perfectly placed and very responsive within the case.
It's available in blue now too. I'm still waiting for mine to show up but I may just send it back. I am using The caseology Parallax in a Nexus 6p unicorn beetle holster and it's pretty much perfect for me.

Yup, been rolling like this for over a week. Same way I rolled with my 6P, as I liked the other Supcase Hybrid case and their holster. Just had to put a bit of adhesive foam in the corners.
I'll get you some pictures and post them.
I had the UB holster from their case, bought a second one when it was on sale, and when one of them broke, they sent me 2 more. So I've got a few spares. You could contact them and ask them to buy them alone as a replacement.
I'll do a writeup on it tonight, it also worked well with my Caseology Vault case.
You should try some of your current cases in the unicorn beetle holster you just got. You might find it just needs a bit of the foam I'm talking about in the corners to make it tight. Then you have a hybrid of the case and holster you want.
Hi, i have a unicorn beetle and a parallax case so took a video. yeah you'd need foam if you want to use them together.

I'm assuming that is with the Unicorn beetle holster for the pixel to excel that's about what mine looks like I'm running it in the Nexus 6 P holster with a tiny bit of foam in each corner and it's working great
I love the UB cases tbh. i have one for my Nexus 6 and i just ordered one for my new Pixel 2 XL coming in the mail tomorrow
got the case myself must admit quality is extremely poor
wouldn't recommend it at all

Like what? I got one too, and it seems pretty good, better than the old 6P one for sure. Buttons are great, finish was great, fit was perfect.
I like the beetle on my phone, seems like a sturdy case to me.

For me it's about right. I'm not using it right now as I'm really enjoying my Parallax Case and Holster combo I came up with but when I was testing it out it had a similar rubbery feeling around the edge as the 6p but the buttons have been redone to be clicky unlike the 6p.
So Hybrid for the 2XL. Lame.
Was really looking forward to these cases from Sup as I had the Hybrid on my Nexus 6 and that lasted 3 long years.

What cases do you use?

I love this device and I'm waiting to get the Tech21 case for cheap on ebay for this phone as I loved it on my V30+.
Figured I'll go colorful until then.
I settled on this and it'll be here next week.View attachment 4777486
Got it in today.

This is an excellent 2 piece case with hard shell protection on all corners and a nice soft touch feel for 9 bux. It's very, very close to the Incipio cases I had on my S5. My Incipios have slightly softer tpu, whick looks just a bit thicker at shock points. On the other hand, this case is a little thinner, while remaining tough. It even has more hard protection on the top of the phone, and the plastic case feels stronger for that extra edge.
It's so cheap, I bought both color combos to mix and match, plus I'll have the replacement for whenever the plastic eventually breaks from a fall (even my Incipio cases broke to save the phone).
LG G8 ThinQ Case, Androgate... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RRMQNKZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If you use this, remember to install and remove in 2 steps. Like most good 2 piece cases, the plastic shell holds the phone tightly, be careful how it flexes around the key cutouts during removal. It seems smoothest to remove the power button edge first.
Although the Incipio feels slightly softer, I'm confident the protection of this is roughly equal in everyday use.
CoverOn case rocks
Great case. TP around the edges and poly-carbonate back that is clear. Works great with wireless charging. very good fit.

It doesn't have that rainbow look due to the back being glass?

I have the following cases, but am currently just using a skin from slickwraps.
Ghostek Covert
CruzerLite Leather Texture
Ringke Fusion X
Ringke Fusion
Encased Slim Armor
I have also spent a good amount of time at the carrier shops trying out the overpriced (but pretty great) cases:
Speck Presidio Grip
Tech21 Evo Check
Casemate Tough Clear
If anyone has questions or wants photos, let me know.

I really want to see how that CruzerLite looks in real life. It was the one I was torn on before I picked that blue one I've got. I definitely want the Tech21 but it's gonna have to wait until I can find one on eBay for less someday.

I'll take some photos once I'm home. It's a very nice case and I use it when I get tired of looking at a greasy, fingerprinted device. I've have a love/hate with Tech21 cases - they're great protection but they add so much width. I'd say they're worth it if you really want that 10ft drop protection without going to something beefier. I'm a desk jockey so I'm really enjoying the phone+skin and I only slap on a case if I know I'm going to be somewhat active. It's a shame there aren't more options for LG phones. No love if your name doesn't start with Apple or Samsung.
Septembersrain - It does have a few small areas on the clear back smaller than a dime that look a bit extra shiny since they are in contact with the glass. Not rainbow though.
This case is awesome, very sturdy, has a lip to protect edges of screen, slim, supports wireless charging, kick stand on back for propping up phone in landscape mode, 3 colors, perfect cutouts.

Same as you will similar, simple and effective and still showing its colour.
I'm rockin the Ringke Fusion, aqua blue on black. Case does its job. Looks nice. Not very comfortable to hold though.
I'm using the spigen tough armor. Loving it so far! doesn't add too much bulk, but it's a solid case. the kickstand is a fantastic feature
I use TPU cases from X-Level.
Spigen Slim Armor, can't really go wrong with that one
And for $20 it's a decent price imo.
Spigen Liquid Crystal
Spigen Liquid Crystal with a Speck Grab Tab.
literally using the one it came with, thick and sturdy enough and hasn't yellowed yet either (crossing my fingers)

I use these also, they're great cases and work perfectly with wireless charging.
any love for the G8S? i guess not
Im using the Ghosttek case and so far its been what I was wanting. No more sliding off flat tables, or out of my pocket in the car and falling down under the seat anymore. All the buttons work well and has a minimal effect on the overall size of the phone very good case if you arent looking for otterbox style
