Allegedly, New AI Camera and Vision AI being release for all LG V30 - LG V30 Guides, News, & Discussion

Reports starting to come out that state that, allegedly, the new LG V30 being released in a little over a week will have minor, if any hardware enhancements, and that the major focus will be in introducing software to support Camera AI and Vision AI. This is part of LG's new foray into the AI side of the business. Allegedly, because the changes will be largely software based, LG is considering introducing the new features as part of a software update for all previously released LG V30s. This would also mean changes into the software that operates the cameras, as they will get AI support to suggest settings and process pictures, (a much needed area that needs to be addressed). It is just going to depend on how they correct the present issues with LG's version of HDR, IMO.
Worth keeping an eye out on.

I was just wondering about this. Sadly, if LG's past support for previously released devices is any indication, I don't think we'll be seeing any AI updates. The G5 is a shining example.

It won't be released soon from what I have seen. It will be shown off at MWC2018 and is called, the V30s. 256GB of internal storage and the AI processor are the only things actually confirmed. Other than that, it looks like it will still use the SD835 and will more than likely only be available in South Korea when it launches.

None of the articles I've read mention anything about helping to take better pictures. That may be true, but they seem to all talk about this "lens" will suggest for stuff for you to buy. I don't need any help doing that.

The new camera platform is said to allow users to shop for household items by using the camera, and as*Android Authority*notes, it will be able to translate foreign languages natively and will go big on augmented reality, perhaps bolstered by the phone’s dual-rear lenses.

Ah, found it:

The new Vision AI technology automatically analyses the scene to recommend one of eight shooting modes.
LG says the angles, colours, reflections, backlighting and saturation levels are measured against a database of 100 million images when automatically selecting portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, or sunset modes.
As rumoured in recent weeks, the new system will also have the ability to scan QR codes and recognise items for a new visual shopping feature that provides users with the lowest price.

HTC Bresson: 16MP Windows Phone

Source
HTC Bresson, just revealed by This is my next as being on T-Mobile's roadmap, is the 16-megapixel Windows Phone 7 handset we recently saw a commercial for. According to the blog, Bresson is coming "beyond" the September 2011 timeframe, making it sound like a holiday release is in the cards -- and thus a likely Windows Phone 7.5 Mango build. Note that the hardware being displayed here is almost definitely just a placeholder for the real Bresson, as it seems to be little more than a modified Desire S.
Besides Bresson, we're also expecting HTC to bring the Ignite slate and Prime QWERTY slider to the WP7 family this year, although carriers for those devices (if they are coming to the US at all) remain a mystery. Bresson will likely only be rivaled in the megapixel count by the Altek Leo and Nokia N9/N950, whose premiere teaser advertisement we spotted earlier today. However, as many observers have noted, pixel count alone is not the most significant factor in determining picture quality.
Just a pity the device is HTC made.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Their cameras are...ok, not great. 16mp or 250mp, what's the difference if your quality is just...ok...????
Maybe we'll be impressed but, I'm not counting on anything myself.
Chances are this is the new Sony Exmor R module in the phone. Remember, manufacturers do not make all of a product in these kind of devices (LG/Samsung screens, Qualcomm chip, etc).
I am guessing HTC is not in the optics business. But I could be wrong.
Of course, putting a nice camera module in your phone is only half the battle; you still have to do some programming to get it to work well.
This is... weird.
Looking at the bigger picture here, you would have thought looking at their previous models that HTC would choose Android for a phone that's quite clearly going to be a high end flagship, they wouldn't put a 16mp camera in something that isn't going to be a big model for them.
I wonder if this indicates a shift in their preferred OS, or maybe I'm just reading too much into this
The Snapdragon 8x50 and 8x55 support up to 12 megapixels. The 8x60, which Windows Phone 7 does not currently support, supports 16 megapixels.
Edit: Though I did just notice that the official Qualcomm page says the 8x60 supports Windows Phone: http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/specs
Sounds like it will be pretty nice.
my next WP7 device will be NOKIA......
It is a great sales pitch.
The only HTC device I ever used was the HD7 and the camera was dreadful.
I guess it's just me but HTC seem to make phone that all look roughly the same.
At this time I think I'm going to be looking at the Nokia's WP7 models available In the first quarter of 2012 and pick up one of those.
I don't buy the phone for only the camera. Agree that HTC usually have a worse Camera than other smartphone, but they have a better build quality. Almost all HTC device look damn sexy. For example: HTC Leo and it's younger brother.
if youre into phone camera, nokia is the way to go. a lot of people are very impressed with phone camera nokia has in each of its phone releases. im sure nokia will bring that to their wp7 release. another thing, nokia also has phone releases that are very appealing to teens and they are way cheaper.lol!
well, with stock software my 12mp mozart is ok in daylight situation.
the updated software for the camera (which still hasnt been officially released)
is just awesome, it does near perfect pictures
ive uploaded two of them, currently im not running the updated camera and pictures tend to be bad quallity.
htc really need to step it up, get all parts of their phone working flawless together... like the xenon flash...

Nope. Not just you.
What HTC DOES do is reuse their shell and specs, as seen in all the Leo-ish devices. However, that design is a simple, yet beautiful design. I loved my HD2's design & I think the HD7 improved on it in every aspect. But you also have the EVO and such which use the same design.

Anyway daylight pics are easy for almost any camera today.
Show some night ones or in difficult light than we can talk.
aww its only 8 x(
however, in lowlight it gets grain and noisy,
the xenon provides good light for close ups, but thats it
well all im sayin is htc need to push some updates for cameras
but the hardware should be capable of making good pictures...

Also, touchscreens are poor too compared to Samsung/Apple and probably others. I have the HD7 and it doesn't track smoothly in the horizontal axis (with the phone in portrait more). Presume the HD2 and Desire HD are the same.

Imagesense chip will never be used on AOSP roms?

Im curious, the imagesense found on the One X supossedly makes the shutter speed faster, improves the quality on the pictures and videos taken with the phone but they use propietary drivers, so they're not used on AOSP roms like CM10 or AOKP, is the chip never going to be usable on these roms?
Yeah. I like to know that too

Difficult to say, since the images and videos are massively over compressed.
Pretty sure that's the Sense camera app and not the chip, though.
If you mean the sense camera then no..it is possible..but too difficult to get it working on aosp based roms..

No, no im not refering to sense camera, supossedly the one series phone have a dedicated chip for processing images and videos recording check this:
"HTC was proud to announce that not only are the phones awesome, built extremely well, trimmed down and run fast with HTC Sense, but they’ve also developed a new technology called ImageSense. HTC has actually added a separate processing core for the camera alone. So a dual-core phone will actually have three cores.
The ImageSense chip will not only offload the duties from the regular processor to keep the phone and operating system fast and stable. It will leave the camera completely uninterrupted to take quality, impressive photos. This also allows super-fast shooting possible with a 0.7-second shot time and a 0.2-second autofocus."

That sounds a bit misguided. The SoC has some space devoted to image processing, it's not another general processing core!

Its not another general processing core but its a dedicated discrete chip for the camera so not part of the SOC, could be image processing parts there as well ofc.
Granted this is about the MSM8960 One X but from what I've read the camera stuff is the same for all One S/X models and in part also for One V.
Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5779/htc-one-x-for-att-review/5
"HTC’s ImageChip is responsible for most of the things that would traditionally be done on the SoC ISP. 3A (Autofocus, Auto white balance, and Autoexposure), lens correction (geometric and chromatic correction), noise reduction, best shot selection, continuous auto focus, controlling gains on the CMOS sensor, LED flash level decision, region of interest identification (augmented with face detection) and so on. This is all stuff you can verify yourself by taking apart some of the ISP related files - curiously enough internally ImageChip is actually referred to as “rawchip.” This is also the hardware responsible for enabling HTC’s extremely fast image continuous capture and frame grabbing during video capture (HTC Video Pic). It’s somewhat analogous to what Google and TI did with the OMAP4460 on the Galaxy Nexus, except discrete and with a much more ambitious focus."

Discrete? That surprises me, and I stand corrected.
Guess HTC aren't ambitious enough to expect sales of these phones to be high enough to work it in as a part of the SoC. That's at least a quid to the cost of the phone right there!

Guess it enables HTC to have a consistently nice camera experience for users across their phones while picking whatever SOC is best/cheapest/comes with the right air interface for a region or carrier. Lol I feel like a PR parrot after typing that... Anyways IF a dev ever gets it working on AOSP for any device it might be easier to port it to other devices. I hear its not impossible, just a massive undertaking and will bring a lot of Sense framework which is not useful for much besides the camera, or maybe documentation will be released sometime. Now I'm just a hardware nerd with zero programming experience so take that with a grain of salt, I'd love to be proven wrong though
I can imagine the camera apk needing sense, but not the chip driver. Reverse engineering that driver and pulling in its dependencies could be a pain, as well of course as creating a new camera app.

Doogee x30 (32-bit) :: An Un-Boxing and Review

Introductions ::
Hello there, and welcome to my review of the DOOGEE x30 (32-bit – not L) smartphone! As a casual technology enthusiast, this sort of product truly fuels my interest in the mobile device industry. Manufacturers, like DOOGEE, constantly raise the bar of expectancy-vs-price, by either introducing highly sought-after features to cheaper devices or creating entirely new features that are then introduced through the budget market first. This practice of constantly improving the developing the low-end market makes for an interesting show when one goes to observe the ripples that this creates in the mobile device market as a while. These manufacturers, when they get the formula just right, create devices that can competently perform at a low price point, while displaying very little compromise in overall design, features, and quality. As such, I find the budget market to be an important part of the general mobile device market(place).
Now, for a bit of personal background. This is my third smartphone from DOOGEE, which means that I have a slight, inherent bias. However, I will do my best to curb such, for the sake of an honest and fair assessment of the device in question. I will start with the un-boxing experience, and move forward from there in a semi-natural progression, if you will. The included clips will (unfortunately) be presented in 720p30fps - not true HD. But, it should get the un-boxing experience across in a satisfactory manner - I hope.
Specs ::

Un-Boxing ::

* Please note that the first part (the un-boxing) is still being processed, and the second part (the actual review) will be uploaded later this week (and hopefully, in a higher resolution). I hope you all are enjoying your winter holiday this year
Review ::
There is none - it's ded
Pros ::
The CPU is an MTK 6580, which is clocked at 1.3GHz - a decent CPU for this SoC, although 32-bit.*
This phone comes with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, which is better than what many other budget smartphones come with (less than 1GB in many cases). In fact, this SoC could be packed with up to 4GB of RAM if they wanted…
The 4-sensor Camera system truly sets this device apart from the competition in terms of photographic capabilities at this price-point (60-100 USD). They record at 5mp and 8mp respectively, meaning that the maximum resolution you can get for an image (from the rear cameras) is 3264 x 2448. Pretty nice for a sub-100 USD smartphone...
The metal frame also helps in terms of durability, and even adds to the overall visual appeal of the phone’s design.
The curved body makes it easy to hold, and ergonomically pleasing to the average user. No pain in the palms to speak of
The phone comes with Android 7, which is a great move - Android 8 is here, and DOOGEE can push an update whenever they’re ready. In addition to that (assuming that DOOGEE does update this phone), it gives users the option to decide on whether or not to move on to 8 - software options. But, while you’re waiting, you can play around with Quick Settings Customization - which is another plus.
This phone comes with 16GB of internal storage as an entry model, in opposed to 8GB (as seen in past models like the x5 and x6). This move is definitely one in the right direction…
The software that comes installed on this device initially appears quite close to stock (Google Apps and all - beyond AOSP) Android, which is great for those of you who want more control over the experience, or a simpler experience when using Android. It’s pretty difficult to spot most of the differences and deviations...
Cons ::
This model’s CPU is 32-bit, which limits the RAM and apps that can be used on this device. As such, it won’t be able to use any software that requires a 64-bit* architecture or more than 4GB of RAM. Remember the x5 Pro and x6 Pro models?
The RAM speed on this device is only 533MHz, which leaves it feeling like low-price DDR2/LPDDR2 (at around 500-600MHz), in opposed to the LPDDR3 it’s actually packing, which (in theory) can reach speeds of around 800MHz.
The Mali GPU included on this SoC is only 2 cores*, which is a bit underwhelming for obvious reasons. A higher clock speed could have helped this a bit.
It comes with some unnecessary apps, which can’t be completely removed without rooting. This needlessly reduces the amount of free storage space on the device. What’s up with the cat hanging from the top of the screen?! The approach used on the x5 and x6 Pro models should be used on this device instead.
It’s theme, while small in terms of performance impact, is an unnecessary and non-innovative deviation from a simpler Google/AOSP UI experience. Once again, the approach used on the x5 and x6 Pro models should be used on this device instead.
The screen, while being HD-Ready, is of the 720p/1080i variety - not the Full HD (1080p) that many have come to expect from their smartphones nowadays. But, this isn’t too much to bare.
The camera(s) only record at 5mp and 8mp respectively, meaning that the maximum resolution you can ever get for an image (from the rear cameras) is 3264 x 2448. While still images are quite nice, video recordings are locked in at 30fps, and may actually be at a lower resolution still.
This device can only receive so much expansion via the SD card slot - 32GB to be exact.
The SoC on this model doesn’t offer 4G(LTE)* capabilities, Bluetooth 5, NFC, or Wireless Charging.
It’s USB 2.0, instead of 3.0. An upgrade to 3.0 would have been nice...
Not so sure about how honest DOOGEE is about the camera.
Some apps I would remove (if I could) include:
Torch*
Themes **
System Manager**
File Manager**
DOOGEE ?
Chrome *g
* Integrate this feature into the Quick Settings - no need for another app
** Can be handled better with 3rd party apps
*g Have better counterparts that are developed by Google, and should be decided on by the user
? What does this app do?! I don’t remember it being around on the older models...
Conclusion ::
Overall, I think that this device is quite nicely-made for this price (60-70 USD), but could be improved upon a bit. While being a worthy successor to the single-digit x-models, I also think that there should be a higher-end model available, for those of us who are willing to pay to have many of these issues alleviated (around say, 100 USD - like last time). In addition to this, from having had the x5 Pro and x6 Pro models, I can’t help but feel just a bit let down this time around. Yet, there isn’t an x30 Pro. Perhaps the x30L* would answer the call? Although, I haven’t been able to find the darned thing, for sale, anywhere!
Overall Rating: 7.0/10
Bottom Line;
Good show, DOOGEE. You do have some places where you can improve. But, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next...
I actually purchased this phone for the mother-in-law. It literally just arrived today. Off the top, it's a very nice phone, especially for the sub-$70 I paid for it. I'm going to be working with this in-depth over the next few days in order to customize it (and see what tricks I can find). I'll report back when I'm done.
UPDATE: Just got this TWRP'd and rooted. Now I can see what this thing can do. :good:

Good to hear! I enjoy reviews of these smaller brands. Not everyone can afford a Note 8 cash-out.
I got a few more technical notes. Apologies if I ramble a bit, but I wanted to get this listed so that I don't forget. (Please let me know if you want me to post my root method as I don't want to hijack your thread. I didn't see any other threads pertinent to this phone posted yet.) These notes have to do with modding the phone and how it behaved for me afterwards.
As mentioned earlier, I rooted this phone after playing with the stock version a bit. A note about rooting - there are several posts online that mention rooting via SP Flash Tool. I never got this to work for me. Instead, using ADB and the TWRP version for this phone did the job (there is a trick in doing so as the install wasn't quite so straightforward). Once TWRP was installed, flashing SuperSU went as usual. Root Checker confirmed that root did take.
Custom recovery was possible because Doogee X30's flavor of Nougat 7.0 (which btw this phone has one of the few maker-created launchers that I pretty much like) contains a switch in Settings that allows you to make the bootloader unlockable. A quick run through ADB to actually do the unlocking worked perfectly. However, I now have a "Status Orange" message upon boot-up that claims the phone is now unsafe due to the bootloader unlock. But this doesn't seem to adversely impact operation (at least nothing obvious has presented itself) - very similar to the message I got when I did the same thing to the Galaxy Note 4.
I was able to use Kernel Auditor to do thinks like speed up the CPU and enable init.d (one of the requirements to get Viper4Android to work). CPU tweaks substantially enhanced this phone's performance.
Once rooted, customization became relatively easy. I targeted my usual apps to enhance the phone. SELinux Switcher, Adaway, BusyBox, Kernel Auditor (to tweak CPU performance and enable init.d), and Viper4Android (the package that includes Sony + Dolby Atmos). Rooted apps are all performing as expected.
The factory launcher is surprisingly lite and simple, and I did enjoy it. I would have kept it for the MIL, but I didn't see any obvious way to change the icon set so I went with Evie Launcher (if you see a way, though, please let me know). So far, Evie is working quite nicely.
Wifi speeds are pretty good for a phone in this class; I have no complaints. For cell data, based on the radios supported, this phone can only work at 3G/HSPA+ as there is no LTE radio. However I'll better be able to speak on that once I put in her SIM card and really give this a twirl on AT&T towers.
With the right modifications, I'd say this phone performs similar to those with a much higher pay point. Of course it's nothing near flagship level. However, for the amount of RAM and on-board storage, SD card support, headphone jack and REMOVABLE battery - I'd say this phone is a pretty sweet deal especially for people who just cannot or do not want to spend $$$ for a bunch of features they don't need. Plus if you break this sucker, you're not gonna cry over it. Just save up a few In-and-Out combos in a piggy bank and you can buy another one.
Oh yeah - one final note. Regarding cases, unless you want to pay Amazon's ridiculously jacked-up prices, it's best to order one through eBay from overseas. I got the pleather wallet model and it looks pretty decent. Just saw there is now a genuine full-leather one also on eBay.
---------- Post added at 05:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:19 PM ----------
Oh darn it! I just saw that you wanted to remove some system apps. Once rooted, there are apps in Playstore that should let you do just that.
In fact, thanks for that list. I'll check these out and see which ones I can dump. Is Themes tied to the launcher? If so, I may not touch it to avoid problems later. Speaking of Theme - that effing hanging cat can be turned off in the stock launcher settings. There is actually a switch for it. Sooooo annoying!
And your rating is very close to what others are giving (low to mid 7s), so it looks like your instincts are quite on the money.
Just added the first video. Once again, I'm kinda wishing that my dedicated camera was still operational (Nikon COOLPIX), but it stopped working a few months back. I had no option but the Nexus 7 camera (again). I've been using it as my camera for most of my videos where it isn't screen cap.
care to expand on TWRP rooting?!
(there is a trick in doing so as the install wasn't quite so straightforward)
For those wondering how to root this phone, its actually pretty simple. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING.
Assuming you know some basic adb commands..
You wanna start off with making sure your bootloader is unlocked, which can be done fairly easily with ADB tools.
Don't be alarmed when your phone resets a couple times, its erasing data and reformating.
Once your bootloader is unlocked and your phone restarts, remember to reenable USB debugging. and then go to fastboot mode again to flash our recovery.
(I used the recovery link listed in the SUflash method that comes up when googling 'x30 doogee root')
Once our recovery is installed, we'll wanna put the latest version of SuperSU (Make sure its the zip, not the apk) onto your phone/SD card. Boot into recovery, and install SuperSU through TWRP.
Congratz, you've succesfully rooted your X30
Tested and verified on mine. Sorry I could not include links, do not have enough posts. Just wanted to be of assistance!
This device (unfortunately) actually sort needs root to even feel at-home with. Which is sad, because the x5 Pro and x6 Pro weren't like that. I rooted them advanced purposes - not to get them to a decent state...
Help me please!
I stuck my phone in TWRP can you send me a copy of your recovery?

It seems we have more brightness OOTB on this Oled but maybe this is a software calibration.
No Banding problem at all until now.
Platinum Gray is the best color i had on all my LG Devices. Loving it
I just with they moved the headphone jack to the bottom if they're making a revised version.
Other than that, does it feel any different to a V30? Is there any reason to upgrage? Also, do you not live in the US? Isn't it carrier locked?

A lot of phones moved the HPJ to the bottom in the last years and I think it really makes sense imo. Especially on a phone like the V30 which is the ultimate audiophile phone.
I use mine all the time for listening to music and I wanna put the phone upside down in my pocket so when I take it out, my finger is already on the fingerprint reader and I can instantly use the phone. But if the HPJ is at the top, I can't to that because I don't want to stress the jack on the phones (it's one of the most common failure points on a headphone), so I have to put the phone bottom side down in my pocket. And then when I take it out I need to flip it in my hand or just take it out uncomfortably so it's already in the right orientation. But then I need to adjust my grip so I can get to the fingerprint reader.
It may seem like a really small thing, but sometimes on a long walk I can take the phone out tens of times and every time it's really uncomfortable. Also the other thing is more minor but if you plug some headphones with a thick and heavy cable, the weight distribution becomes top-heavy which also makes using the phone pretty annoying. Generally I don't see any advantage having the thing on top, but may be it's just me.

I just with they moved the headphone jack to the bottom if they're making a revised version.
Other than that, does it feel any different to a V30? Is there any reason to upgrage? Also, do you not live in the US? Isn't it carrier locked?

i live in ROME (Italy) and device has all every worldwide band that need in every country .
I've exported V35 from Kentucky where my friend lives and he had provided for me
You can pay in full on AT&T physical Store and they will provide you a permanent unlock code to unlocck network and all supported bands.
Generally i don't feel big changes in hand, it's the same product that V30 is. The "Core" changes are inside this Beast

me too. It's so comfrotable if you have a leather case where you put inside device and you are listening music or FM Radio .
Ohhh, big news : i' ve installed FM Radio apk provided here from OP :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/themes/lg-fm-radio-app-download-verizon-v30-t3689294
and it works !!!!!! FM chip is enabled by default !
FM Radio apk provided from TMO V30 on the same thread instead ....it didn't works.
This could be the best LG phone ever made. And incomprehensibly they won't launch worldwide
BTW: any chance to have a system dump?

Usually LG is famous to take wrong decisions worldwide
it's too bad LG value sinks like a rock. This is a fantastic phone, but after buying the V30 upon release for $800, I think from now on I'll just scoop them up lightly used on ebay 6 months later for half price.
I also see the updated the selfie cam. Which is great. But apparently the camera app has less features (since it's exactly the same as the G7), and the wide angle cam is 107 degrees on the V35 and 120 degrees on the V30. Another downgrade imo.

Can you dump the vendor partition by any chance?
We might be able to make use of it for the V30 and get a better Treble experience than the current vendor partition that we have from the Trebelized LineageOS rom for the V30.

Problem would be: different drivers for camera and so on, also for the chipset (except they split it up again, like the firmware in the v30, which for example adreno is split up in adreno 520, 530 (whereas the higher ones contain just patches for the lower ones, so you can take the lower named ones for a sd821 device)
idk about vibrator or so though, which would be nice though (damn special vibrator hardware in the v30 making everything complicated lol)
i just don't understood if USB Type-C here is 2.0 or 3.1

Also SD845 isn't "stock" big.LITTLE anymore - it's further evolved DynamIQ, whatever that means, also cache handling and structure is different (common cache between cores/cluster)
quite a different beast, actually:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12114/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-845-soc
https://www.neowin.net/news/qualcomms-snapdragon-845-benchmarks-show-massive-gains
In theory it has outstanding performance gains 20-45% (?) but in benchmarks it's more close to 15-20%, still pretty awesome for a generation upgrade
So with a custom toolchain, custom optimization flags, custom ROM, etc. you mostly will be able to get more of the full potential out of that phone
I like how it catches up to Apple's SoC in a BIG way

I doubt they would downgrade it on the V35 to 2.0 as the V30 has atleast 3.1 Gen 1 (former known as 3.0).
Just that LG only ships a 2.0 cable with the V30 (atleast my H930 only had a 2.0 cable...), used a 3.0 cable, and transfer rate skyrocketet
Edit: @wolfgart could you tell me the model number for the V35? (or get a kdz?)
I think i could use some of its implementations on the V30 (e.g. the vibrator, could fix that it becomes dull after a while, if it still uses the same motor for it that is)

Oh ok. I thought that the v35 was the same exact thing as the v30 except for the SD845

Its basically a G7 inside a V30 case, with V30 display. Has the newer cams from the G7 too. Idk about other hardware components though (like i said, our special vibrator).

Pixel 3a xl does not have camera2api_level3.

Hey guys i bought my first pixel and love it and since i love mobile photography and cinematography i was on the edge of my sit to get into this great camera.Today i downloaded a camera2api checker from play store and in my surprise the phone does not have camera2api_level3 ,i was wandering how the top shot and motion photos and also how the object focus works without level 3 ?
I hadn't heard of this before, but some quick research tells me it is nothing to be worried about. According to that article, Level-3 means "the OEM of the device has added some additional features to the camera hardware including YUV reprocessing, RAW image capture, and more." I can confirm that this camera does have RAW image output/support and the focus will track on a moving subject, so it clearly is capable of some (if not all) of the level 3 items. I think it is just semantics. Personal experience and all the reviews I've read give this camera top marks.

Okey thank you i love the camera and i hope google will keep up the trend of bringing new features to it.I just hope the absence of "level3" wont hold us back from the future features
