I have just a basic usb to 3.5 headphone adapter, and I use iPod headphones.

Yea, I bought those and they are being shipped to me right now.
But I think that the stereo bluetooth adapter seems pretty convenient, no?
If HTC shipped a bluetooth adapter like this, I wouldn't complain about the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack
Or you could just get stereo BT headphones and forget the wires and adapters!

No stereo bluetooth headphones can compare to my Shure earbuds.
Plus I think that most stereo bluetooth headphones are clunky.
Do you have a nice pair though? any recomendations?
I got one from ebay as well. I paid less than that, but it's still the same. They all are manufactured in China. I use mine everyday. Good sound quality, works right out of the box. I haven't really had any problems.
I only have two complaints. 1. You cant use them while charging, as the charger shown in the third picture is plugged into the headphone port. Strange, yes but it works. That is not really that much a problem, because it has great battery life! 2. No matter what I do, I cannot connect it to my computer to stream music from my computer to the A2d2p adapter. (or whatever it's called, lol) If you come up with a solution after you get yours, please post, or email me.
For me, price was an issue. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money to listen to music from my phone, but I wanted good sound quality. Regular Bluetooth Stereo Headphones are expensive. For me, this was the way to go. I bought this and a pair of Sony wrap around headphones, and I am rockin'. I think you will be pleased.

PS - I have attached the manual I got from a Chinese Suppliers site, as one doesn't come with it. At least not with mine. (Maybe thats why I got mine cheaper, lol)

Cool dude. The Voyager ones look nice, but I think I'm gonna go the cheap route and just get the converter.

It's a Sony Ericsson DS-200 which I bought last year specifically so I could plug some decent headphones in!
I think it was fairly expensive - about £50 when I bought it, but it has worked great with anything that I've wanted to pair with it, including my Excalibur.
But it's far better than using a wired headset with a 3.5 jack in my opinion, because if you use "proper" earphones that come with a long-ish cord then combine that with the long-ish cord from the wired headset then it makes for some nightmareish tangles! Using A2DP seems like freedom in comparison!

Lol about the longish cord, gave up on wired headsets as the ammont of times i'd rip the cord when cycling, i'm using STAK semi enclosed cans made for 3 network they were cheap bout £30 and give loud playback with comfortability and like post above a2dp makes listening to music far more enjoyable skippin tracks in an instant answering calls in an instant...
BT is the deffenat way to go

I'm using Sennheiser CX300, not audiophile grade by any means but certainly better than bundled headphones or stuff like that, they're great.
I love impressing people on the bus by hiding the A2DP receiver in a pocket and then watching a movie or something on my phone, I've had a few people who were watching over my shoulder anyway ask me how I was listening to the sound! Hehe

I'm wondering what headset (Bluetooth/Wired) you use for your Note? I'm using Marshall Minor, but I still find the volume not loud enough.
Would any of you recommend something else? I live in Hong Kong which is fairly noisy, so something that has good volume would be great.

I haven't got a Note yet, but I use the Sony MW600 bluetooth headset with my HD2. And I'd be lost without it - best thing I've bought!
No problems syncing to the device, it has remote control (pause, next/previous), hands free talk as it has built in mic, and comes with in ear buds, which are very good indeed. They block out quite a bit of external noise too, but you can plug in any headset you want to it if you want to go to higher spec headphones. Battery lasts about 10 hours continuous use, and it will re-charge of your Note's charger.
I'm not an audiophile, but I do like music. And it does me fine.

Edit - Just had a look at the Marshalls, and these would offer a tighter fit in the ear then the Marshalls, so would block out more external noise. I wear mine in work, even if i'm not listening to music. I work in the print industry with loud machinery, and they are better than the ear plugs we get given, which reduce external noise by 27 dB. If I'm listening to music in work while my machines are running, and you want to chat - then you ain't gonna get through unless you're in my face!

That's a pretty sweet headset. How much does it stick out after you put it on? Does it get loose easily? I used to own a pair of the Sony is800 headset and it would fall out easily. I was wondering if this is the same.

My previous headset was the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800
Compared to the Sonys:
- They seem to fit better in my ear (they come with 3 different bud sizes)
- The earbuds are slightly larger and so I guess they do stick out a little more, though I haven't noticed any issue with it
- An extra 2 hours of call/music time
- Have FF/RW controls as well as volume adjust (The Sony's only have Play/Pause/Answer)
- I haven't had any issues with people hearing me or me hearing other people when using them, but I've yet to test them somewhere really noisy
- They come in Red (if that's your thing)

I was thinking about this but didnt bother getting one once i saw the Note, not as big as the press would have u believe!
I was considering the NOKIA J - i has a small clipable dock so i wouldnt have to have it in the ear all the time...

There is one by Sony that I love the way it fits. They don't make it any more and every now and then I find one on eBay ..
I have the Sennheiser bluetooth headset. If you look hard you can find one new on eBay most of the time for about $60 .. I like that one a lot because I have small ear holes and those go on the outside of your ear ..
I also have 2 Bang & Olafsen bluetooth headsets .. One left ear which I am keeping and the other right ear which I am gonna sell when I find it .. I also have the wired Bang & Olafsen head set. I read that it has a teeny tiny microphone somewhere .. I don't know if that is my model .. use it for listening to music ..
I actually have a box of discarded bluetooth headsets. I should put them all together in one lot and sell them. Maybe I will do that today. Don't know if I can find all the chargers though .. They are all discarded because I find them uncomfortable to wear.
For music or movies I use the Sennheiser M400s which have a nice balanced sound and good battery life. For calls, it's hard to go past the Plantronics Discovery 975 - small and sleek, super comfortable to wear, and really good battery life (especially with the included charging case).......
I can't wear anything that doesn't go around the ear. And if it goes in the ear, ugh. After a half hour I have to take it out because it gets painful. Maybe if I had bigger ears .. or Man Ears .. it wouldn't be so bad. They are doing hearing aid implants now, maybe they could do a little bluetooth implant ??

the quality while talking is not the best but its enough for me.
Despite the positive comments about the quality of just listening to music, i can hear some "scratches" when a song gets "heavier". This is my first BT Headset so maybe its normal for BT headsets, or i just overlooked a setting i have to change in the Software.. Hint, anyone?

Do you have a budget in mind? I think we can offer better suggestions if you give us a budget range.
I use Sennheiser IE8 connected to a Sony/Ericsson Bluetooth receiver on the go, and a small digital analog converter/amplifier by NuFore together with the headphones when working.

Hi, thanks for replying. I do not have a budget in mind, my usual principle is to pay what's worth its salt.
So far, everyone's recommended bluetooth wireless headsets, I'm not a big fan of charging stuff, having need to recharge my phone nightly already. But if there are no better wired devices out there, I might as well get Bluetooth because call quality is more important to me than music quality which my Marshall Minor does just fine.
I'm looking for a $100 max wired in-hear headset with mike and very complete remote too. It seems Android is not very friendly with those at all, so I'm thinking I'll have to go Bluetooth. What I found:

- a-JAYS One+, coming in Dec.: http://www.jays.se/products/earphones/a-jays-one-plus.html (uses software too)

does the Gnote able to accept the standard wired headphones w/mic from other brands for example: UE? i am on galaxy S and i have been searching for headphone w/mic to replace the original ones from samsung but as usual when i connect other brands of headphone w/mic to my S; all i can hear is the music.. whenever i am making calls the headphone fails me...

I know the One x outputs Apt-x streo bluetooth. Theres a couple of over the head type headphones that support this. what i'm after is an Apt-X receiver which I can plug my own 3.5mm headphones into. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
I know you can get standard bluetothe receivewrs for this (i've got the SE DS200) but it does not support Apt-X.

Just searched myself - found the Chord Gem at $799 (it's a high quality DAC as well), and the more reasonably priced QED LIVE uPLAY WIRELESS BLUETOOTH AUDIO RECEIVER for like 60-70pounds (apologies for the shouting, I just cut n paste that from the website).
EDIT: Just found out that the Samsung HS3000 has Apt-X, looks better than the QED since it has facilities for calls and also media controls...
EDIT2: Just purchased the HS3000, will let you all know how it is.

If the One X has a good BT stack, you will not be able to hear any aptx benefits, the DS200 is a good device and with a good BT stack on the phone, it will be CD-like quality.

Apt-x allows uncompressed data transmission of lossless audio files from what I can gather. From reviews I've read of apt-x sennheiser headphones, it's indistinguishable from wired headphones. I've had several a2dp headphones including ds200 and the quality just isn't there for me. U can definately tell the difference.

Which is not at all correct, the audio is compressed. The streaming rate is +300kb/s.

Many phones have poorly implemented standard a2dp, they stream at about 220kb/s, this is something which is will be improved, a +300kb/s standard a2dp stream is also just as good as wired. I know people who have done the comparison.
I was under the impression that AptX uses a different codec too, not SBC.
@pzboyz, is there a way of measuring the A2DP bitrate for a device?
It's ironic I only heard of AptX recently, when I bought a Foxl and opted not to get the Platinum version, thinking that there weren't any implementations of this spec yet. And a month later, it's in my new phone.

Yeah I've seen it mentioned on their site too. Got my phone now. Tempted to just order one. They're on ebay for around £26. They do a white version which will match my phone aswell! If these live up to the claims, they'll make a perfect partner to my Shure SE530's which have a short cable which usually runs into an extension piece.
Where did you order yours from?

I'm talking about every smartdevice I've ever owned listening to bluetooth Vs wired (N95, N95 8GB, N82, i8910, HD2, Touch Pro, N97, HTC Desire, HTC Sensation, Galaxy S, Galaxy SII, Galaxy Note, ASUS Transformer and Transformer Prime, Google I/O Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7.7) with a large number of headsets DRC-BT15, Moto S805, can't remember the model names but several of Nokia's best BT cans, a few other Sony headsets whose model numbers escape me. Bluetooth audio quality is not equal to wired on any of those devices.
I only mentioned the wired headsets so it's apparent the wired headsets are not the rate limiting step.
I've not tried it with my One X since I don't get it until next week, will be interesting to see is Apt-X lives up to it's billing.

It's arrived. Initial impressions are good.
Definitely sounds better than previous a2dp headsets I've used. After initial pairing I've noticed one or two occasional dropouts during the first minute or so of playback but it seems pretty stable after that. Swapping between plugged in and bluetooth with the included iem's doesn't highlight any immediate differences (only tried mp3's and aac files with Poweramp) which is good. Previous a2dp's i've used have been more constrained with throughput than the the actual headphones used with them.
Will listen to it a bit more over the weekend with better headphones (Shure SE 530's), higher quality source files and post some thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback, I have the receiver but won't have my One X till next Wednesday (lucky enough to be getting one for review that I get to keep).
It's meant to be lossless up to ~370kbps according to CSR (the people who developed Apt-X), so I presume for FLAC files you'll start to hear some differences, but for everything up to 320kbps mp3 there shouldn't be any discernible difference if CSR's claims are accurate.
apt-x is a codec used under the a2dp profile.

In order to clarify a bit. I believe the apt-x is a compression format, which is an extended codec to the a2dp profile of bt.
So you may be comparing apt-x to a range of codecs used under a2dp, where you also find apt-x.

Right guys I Love me music and the HOX straight out of the headphone out it's ok. My SGS Voodoo'd kicks its arse out of that water! I'm going to order the HS3000 and test the aptX technology with my TDK BA200 IEMS. To see how it differs.

The purpose of this post is to share with you guys my recent purchase The HTC Bluettoh 3.0 Stereo Headphones. These are the official ones from HTC made for our phones. Those with Sense 4.0 and above and phones with Bluetooth 3.0 and above. What makes these different from other bluetooth heaphones is the fact that they use Bluetooth 3.0 which is a huge advancement meant from Bluetooth v2.1 Enhanced Data Rate. This newer version allows more data to be transferred at a time (wider bandwidth) and HTC has taken advantage of this by providing uncompressed audio with these bluetooth heaphones. The sound quality is so much better. v3.0 is more battery efficient as well than the previous generation. The bluetooth headphone clip allows you to use your own headphones as well!

HTC One series and galaxy s3 are the ones that pops into my mind. Others (the ones that don't have apt-x) will sound like Bluetooth 2.1 edr no mather which version of Bluetooth they use.

Are you suggesting that these sound crisp and clean? I only ask because I stream music via bluetooth quite a bit whether it be to my Yamaha receiver or my head unit in my truck and because of the low bitpool setting in Sense I get a lot of crackling on the high end. AOSP this is not an issue. Only in Sense.
So my question is...How if HTC hasn't fixed the bluetooth bitpool issue in the software can any bluetooth device stream the high quality?

Thanks you very much news, I think his headphones low dive deep, clean and full, flexible and intensity, slow feeling. Good high frequency extension, delicate and supple and housing design is also very good

You can actually use any headsets for jogging and especially walking. Just depends how much wire and bulk you are willing to put up with. Personally, I have the LG Tone+ headset. They sound great and dont make you feel like you are tied to something. They are actually a very practical setup. Any way. Those are my thoughts.

ie could I use a standard headset without a mic and still talk?

The mic is not built in onto the bluetooth device, your earphones will have to have a mic

it's uncompressed but who cares? it seems those use apt-x lossless codec.

I picked up one of these on the back of this review, and I have to say, I'm really impressed. I got i it mainly for running with, but I've found myself just using it for everything. In the car, at work, - the battery life is really good, and the drain on the phone really in negligible.
My one complaint... I nearly lost my phone in the gym, cause I left it at the rower I was using, but the range is so good ( around 20m without any loss of audio ) I ended up having to backtrack my whole circuit to find it
I cannot believe they did not include a mic in the clip. It really limits your use of alternative headphones/earphones.

It does have a mic in the clip, can't post a link so check the HTC website for details.
I have this as well. I have to say that for a BT tranceiver, it impresses me so much. My only complain is that I can't really monitor the battery capacity in this thing. But at least it will notify me with that robotic female voice that my "battery is low". However, battery life is good.
I use it when I'm travelling because I don't really like brandishing my One in public transport (it's very unsafe to show off your phone here in Indonesia) as it allows me to control my music wirelessly.
I pair this to some other devices as well, like my laptop so that I can use my hifi system to amplify my laptop using aux cable. I don't use the aux cable directly because it's too far to where I usually sit and enjoy my movies.
All in all, I am satisfied with this product.

Because of that sentence, I have bought this device. But NO, it doesn't have the mic in the clip.
Now I am sad and angry I didn't go for a Sony or Samsung.
I have a MW600 at home, which worked perfectly, but last month the clip lost the suspension thingy so I cannot clip it to my shirt anymore... And that's why I decided to buy this one.
But bummer, you cannot use any headphones. You must pick the ones that have the microphone on. And hence, the device is not useful for other stuff, like in-car use and such...
Otherwise, sound is good, can connect to my mac and phone at the same time and can charge it while using it. Really a shame HTC did not put a mic on the clip...
I had these other bluetooth headphones in mind:
1) Sony SBH20
2) Samsung HS3000
and of course
3) Sony MW600
Good info sudkcoce. I am also thinking of buying this but do not like the earbuds. I need something that will stay on my head. Earbuds to me have always been a fad/gimmick. Can you post if any other aftermarket headphones with mics and preferably ear clips or dome speakers that are compatible with this bluetooth device? Maybe if you have others from friends try them and let us know. For now will be considering the other devices you listed for my HTC One.
I am pretty sure any headphone with a built in mike will work.

I have waterproof earphones by Monster designed for iOS and they work perfectly with the bluetooth clip. Any Headphones/ earphones will work with this as long as they have a 3.5mm jack. Of those headphones have a play pause button on the centre it will work as well. The other buttons may not
I've had these things since February(a nice gift from HTC) and I love it. I don't use it as headphones though when I'm home. I have an aux cable going into my surround sound and I have hooked the Bluetooth dongle onto that Aux cable. Streaming the music crisply, clearly, and perfectly through my system.

I already have the bullet wireless v1. But i don't no if I should update to the v2 or should i get the skullcandy indy. Qnd suggestions would be appreciated.
For $99, how good can they really be?! SkullCandy is the better choice, if you feel the need to buy new headphones. Just remember though, the device does not come with a USB-C to headphone adapter in the box, in case you are interested in using wired headphones. Personally, I still prefer to use my Sennheiser HD598C's.
I can't stand earphones that completely plug your ears. So... I use airpods with my android phone. Shhh. Don't tell anyone.

At what price
Can someone confirm that I can get any headphones that are USB-C?
I see headsets on Amazon listed that show specific "compatibility" requirements, so I'm wondering if this would be something I need to worry about.
Or is just any headset with USB-C ok?
Instead of wearing down the USB C port with constant connects and disconnects of a dongle, get a good bluetooth DAC and you are set. I myself use a combination of Fiio FH1 in-ear monitors and Fiio BTR3, planning to upgrade to BTR5 when it launches

If you've already got the V1 Bullets Wireless, don't bother upgrading. I lost my V1s so I bought the V2s, they sound awesome, but it doesn't matter because they keep falling out of my ears. I miss the fins on the V1s because then I didn't have to keep adjusting them and putting them back in my ears.
