Is there any way to exchange my old 2016 model whit newer K10? - LG K10 (2018) Questions & Answers

My phone is very broken now. I purchased it for 185 euro
I how not much money left, i need working phone.

Think about your question. You are asking the internet worldwide about a personal problem - where you live is unknown other than you paid in Euros....
XDA is mostly about software in phones or replacing a component, not about how to replace.
Buy a cheap, used phone in your local area. Don't ask how to do that.

insurance on a o2 xda IIs in the USA???

hi i own a o2 xda IIs and im currently using it with cingular i started this acct with cingulars model the siemens sx66 but i love the black ones look and the camera, and wow o2 connect is the best anywas, i was wondering what if my unit was loast or stolen or broken, is there any type of insurance, mainly for repairs. or will the manufacture cover this unit even though im not where the unit was sold primarly.
thanks in advance

I was wondering the same thing, I am with T-Mobile the only thing that I know you could do is use your SX every once in a while so the IMEI stays in their system, they only do a scan every once few weeks or so. If your device gets lost still call it in. They will more than likely verify that you are using the Siemens phone at the time (Answer YES) pay the deductible unlock it and trade/sell it to replace your XDA.
Ok, I have something even better for you..
Listen to this:
"Mobile ProTech (www.mobileprotech.com) insured mobile devices (including cell phones) valued at less than $250 for $2 per year, devices worth ip to $400 for $60 per year, and devices priced up to $550 for $100 per year. The company even insures used phones purchased on ebay. The phone simply has to be activated and in working condition before you set up a policy."

Good News re XTC Clip

Not sure if anyone is aware, or whether they have been put off getting the XTC Clip because of the price, but they have a massive 80% off the original price of the clip.
Price is now just shy (in the UK) of £40 rather than £199
Maybe this could be the final push to opening up custom roms for our device (after first S-Offing.....)
What do you guys think?
What are those guys warranty and liability terms?
Do they have an insurance? They should have one to pay their valued customers if X-Clip breaks something. Product liability Insurances are not that expensive, nowadays.
I've paid too much for this product to brick it, since rooting voids warranty from HTC.
And well, no root but more chances if the phone gets lost or stolen to get it back, because high costs and H/W crack solution only to remove the "security locks" for the thief.
well I think there will always be the risk of 'bricking' the device, but so many people have successfully S-Offed using the XTC Clip, and seeing as this is the only way at the moment to root our Wildfire S...... well I'll take the risk.
As for removing the Security Locks for the thief if the phone is lost or stolen? well, not really. You can still set locks within Android itself, plus if you phone was ever lost or stolen, well you just ring up your Network Provider, eg, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, etc, and they can block the phone by the individual IMEI number

They will charge highly for this service and the IMEI # may be altered by such tools, too, or is this device auth data crypto-secured in ROM?
Sorry for stupid Q but I've only private used very cheap cellphones so far since I've never paid the high costs for mobile contracts to get a sponsored phone.
the only way to change the IMEI of a phone is by changing the entire motherboard of the phone (as far as I am aware) which makes it not worth doing.
http://imei-number.com/change-imei-number/
"How can manufacturers prevent IMEI changing?
Actualy there is no 100% security just as all other problematic things on the world. Manufacturers can do their best but still you can change chip and reprogram it if you have the same knowledge as manufacturers employees."
That disclaimer says it all.
Every PS modder garage could do that.
Your concern regarding security has not much to do with s-off/rooting the phone. If you lose your phone, your data is available to whomever has the phone regardless of wether or not the phone is rooted/s-off.
So back on-topic: since my PAYG clip is now unlimited, if there's anyone in my region (southern of the Netherlands) that needs a phone unlocked, feel free to contact me.
I have ordered one form here http://cgi.ebay.it/XTC-Clip-HTC-And...?pt=UK_Phones_Software_RL&hash=item20b76edaff
53 EUR TOTAL.
Including shipping of €11.
Is the PAYG clip completely unavailable now? I ordered mine for 22 pound (roughly 27 euro).
I paid the same! Because of the big price drop they decided to stop selling the PayG as it became "useless" because it's also unlimited.
People who already bought the "PayG's" got the 1.4.5 update as extra. I think I was one of the last people who bought one ;-)
Now they're only selling the normal XTC clips a bit more expensive than the PayG version was. I wonder what the resellers are doing with the overstock on PayG's now? :-D
Probably upgrading them themselves and then sell them as regular XTC clips? Anyway, 22 pounds was a reasonable price, but 50 euro is rather expensive for use on a 250 euro phone. I don't think it'll be useful for newer phones that are no longer Qualcomm based.
It seems to be still available here at the same price: http://forums.phone-tools.cn/showth...ces-supported-phones-terms-and-conditions-***

From Bulgaria, trust ok?
100% reputation, seems trusted. And you are fully protected by Ebay and paypal.
But not on the official reseller list?:

Well, if it all goes wrong you are still protected so you can get your money back I expect them to be true to their word and not scam you.
I've bought one from the Bulgarian. Lets see.
Well, there are cheaper sellers that are based in the UK when I looked earlier.
Well, the Bulgarian is fast:

Arrived and activated, SW ver. 2.0.0. Seller is excellent.
Hmm. there's an issue:
The device does not switch on if usb power is applied and fastboot in settings off... need to remove battery to reset.
It works again with fastboot back on in power settings.
UPDATE: Issue is gone, charging if switched off and fastboot off works again.

[Q] Xperia Play reliability and online retailer question.

Hey guys, so i've been discussing etting new phones with my parents, and we've settled upon the LG enlighten for my mother since she's new to smartphones, doesn't need anything powerful and it's only $1 from wal-mart next week. I've decided upon the Xperia play, now this phone varies in price. From Verizon, it's $100, from Amazon, it's $.01, and from Tiger Direct, it's FREE.
So I want to get it online, but my father brought up one issue: the policy to return these items if it breaks is a 30 day time span (versus 1 year if bought through Verizon directly) , so i was wondering, is there something i'm missing with these online policies? Can I get them fixed/replaced by just going to verizon if i buy them online from these 3rd party retailers? And I can't seem to find Tiger Direct's policy, can someone help with that?
PS. How reliable is the Xperia Play? I won't be rooting for a good while, need to do some extensive research so i dont mess up somehow, but i will be downloading non-market apps, after i get a good virus protection software for the Xperia Play.
can anybody help me?

Its always reliable to get it from Verizon. I'll need more info to handle your question since I'm not from US and the xperia play available here is an unlocked one.

Here in the UK we have Sales of Good Act some of which specifically applies to electronic goods.
Dont quote me, but it goes something like this -
First 14 days you are entitled to a refund from the manufacturer for ANY reason. (as long as it is undamaged ofc).
After 14 days and up to 3 years you can request a manufacturer refund or repair on faulty items, which is determined by manufacturers discrepancy.
After 3 years and up to 5 years you can request a manufacturer repair or replacement, which is determined by manufacturer discrepancy.
I used the law to replace a 4 year old LG monitor that had developed some dead pixels.. The LG guy came to my house, picked up the old monitor, gave me a replacement monitor (that was better than the one he took back btw) free of charge because i told them they had to by law.
Im sure laws in the USA will cover you for stuff like this, you just need to do some research.
Once you have knowledge of this, you will discover, just as i did that retailer warranties and extra guarantees are worthless and simply not worth paying the extra amount for nor worth worrying about.
Skip the retailer (unless you want to cancel your contract ofc) and head straight to the manufacturer if anything goes wrong.

LG warranty service - planned obsolescence

Hi ,
I have a trouble with E980 and a TV 50'' plasma. Both have broken in a year under very normal light usage, I'm really more a car guy than a techno.
The TV ok, I had a costco extended warranty.
The phone, I bought it cheap on a trip in US, and since AT&T work with Rogers Canada, I use the E980 in canada as well.
# Problem : The backlight burned on the E980. With no special circumstances.
I can't get it fixed because my main address is in Canada,
SERIOUSLY , in 2014, WTF?? LG is a worldwide company. Can someone explain me how I can get fix my honda CBR 900 bought in USA under warranty and not a stupid simple phone???
HATE that type of pollution, LG trying to plan their obsolescence and they won't do a thing to help. Lets go stupid customer, buy, throw , buy , throw.
Yes I can buy a 90$ screen of ebay, but I hate the principle that that kind of company get away with this, like most of nowadays electronics.
And, LG owners, I found out with a LG seller, that's a known problem, use your device lightly!
I'll get a 2011 old HTC desire series , metal housing, no know issue.
I tend to agree.. over past months the instances of hardware issues with this phone are dramatically increasing across users.. Almost like LG planned the obsolescence of these phones ( although it sounds preposterous to say the least)..things like backlight burnt, capacitive keys, notification light stopped working etc..my own g pro's capacitive keys suddenly stopped working a week back..this after I have taken extreme care of my phone over the past year

Do you have anyone in US? Use their address to ship the phone and fix it. Then get them to ship it back to Canada. You have to also play this game and bet them at it. Heck, if you trust me I will do it for you
Its been a year since I have had my phone. It has not had problem yet. It does not seem that these phones have a problem as coomonly s you suggest. Just my experience.... Are ther reports of problems?
Bought this phone last october. Since then no major issues. And still using stock unrooted rom.
Oh yes, and had my travel charger replaced twice. 2nd time today, infact. Got it replaced for free!

autopumpkin.com service?

Hello,
I have two hardware problems with my HU from Pumpkin. Should I send it back to autopumpkin in China or could it be, that I will never see it again?
Has anyone experience with the Pumpkin service?
Thank you!
My touchscreen died (1 month old unit). Jammy on their forums said they would need to ship me a new screen... then nothing. I've emailed twice without response. I'm not thrilled with them.
Also mine has problems with the screen. It is flackering sometimes and often the screeen switches off.
So it is better to life with it, then to send it back to China.
I came onto here to write about my experience with pumpkin just yesterday. my HU is a few months old pumpkin brand bought off amazon. I started getting random phantom touches on the screen and it would swipe/touch icons and stuff i never touched it! So i decided to email pumpkin and ask for suggestion to fix. They replied within 24 hours and offered a free screen replacement along with video instructions on putting it in. The new one is on its way to me now at no cost. Their english is very "broken" but they DO have good customer service and want a satisfied customer, they also gave me links to the latest factory firmware for my unit too. Very nice
Thought i'd share my experience with them

Ive found the same, Poor english but quick responses and very willing to help when they can.
I would buy from them again.
My response was not as good. Flickering/dark issues. They tried to say it was software, so I did all they said. When that didn't work, they wanted me to pay shipping for a screen (over $100) and would offer no guarantee that it would work.
Nice to see that other people had good service, though. I wonder if they are friendlier to Amazon customers because they fear Amazon coming back on them. I bought directly from autopumpkin and feel that their hardware support was lacking.

I did get mine from Amazon and contacted them through amazon messaging, maybe that's the difference i don't know, but they at one point sent me a new screen under warranty even no shipping charges. (more than I thought was going to happen at least)
Be nice to support and realistic to yourself.
Many companies that sell global have different warranty and support/service. I.e. when you buy in Europe the same unit costs additional % to pay for repairs/warranty/replacement.
The same goes for every company I know. I can buy from Hong Kong, Russia, etc. and don't have to pay for those extra % on warranty, but of course that also means that I get no warranty if I don't pay for it.
When you buy from the Pumpkin website, you pay the price for the local market wherever they are. If that's in China and warranty there doesn't cover replacement or global replacement but only repair in the country you bought it, than you as international customer have no warrenty.
I.e. when you buy a device with warranty in Europe, you have bad luck trying to claim that warranty later in the USA or Japan or Russia. It all depends on where you buy it, local warranty, extended global or not, etc? The moment you buy from a store in your own country it's clear, you know what you pay for, or not. But whenever you go online and shop global, either you learn about the over 1.000.000 global regulations and laws or you simply live with a yes/no and don't know on forehand what you get for an answer.
Some larger companies have better support, i.e. Dell. I had a broken Screen bought in Europe that broke down when I was a few years in Russia. Dell send me the newest version cost-free across the globe to replace my broken screen. But that might not be covered by standard warranty, just a nice guy at the helpdesk. I've had with Canon the same once. But first support I got told me I was in bad luck. I called again, and than again, and third time I got a lady at the phone that was very helpful and said of course she'll prepare everything and I got a replacement within 1 week.
Same happened to me to German Telekom once when I had a broken phone. I called, called again, every time nothing. At one point, I got a Manager on the phone, a real manager from the top! Later I read in the newspaper they do that sometimes, the managers at the top working half a day the job of those below them to know about their work they are doing. And this manager said immediately of course we replace the device, next day I got a new iPhone upgraded version in my hands.
So it really matters which country, which law, which support representative, how nice do you ask, etc..
generally it's good to make the support representative feel like you are a poor person, in need of help and only him/her personally can save you. Some people I noticed called with a tone/way of speaking like:" I'm a customer, I'm the king, you are my slave, you must replace, you must for me, I paid and so you must crawl through the mud for me" of course people who talk like that get NOTHING!
So it's also how you represent yourself. Be nice, be gentle, let them know you are in need, they CAN but not MUST help you, start your conversation with:"i've had such great experience in the past..."
And if you don't have luck with 1 support representative, try again! That's no guarantee of course. Sometimes you are simply out of luck. I mean, when your printer dies after 12 years of loyal service, or your carkit dies after 6 years of service, you really think the product you bought isn't already written off economically? Of course it is. So be realistic with your claims.
