Charging Cradle/Dock for Shield TV controllers - Shield Android TV Accessories

Was wondering if anyone knew of a cradle/dock station for the shield tv controllers? Would prefer one that charges them but would settle with just a dock. Hate seeing them just thrown on my tv stand. ?

Recommendations for a portable HDMI screen

With the HDMI hack, we can use our Atrix 4g with any HDMI screen.
Has anyone tried taking that configuration on the road?
What would make a good companion portable HDMI screen for this?
Cheers guys
You can use any screen that takes HDMI. You don't need any special "portable" HDMI screen.
I've used my 27" 1080p monitors or my 60" led tv.
I would presume he's after a cheap screen with a battery so he can use it whilst travelling... Would love to see my Infuse on a 60" though!
Hmm, the lapdock itself is a nice portable HDMI screen. With a micro-HDMI to HDMI adapter, you can plug any HDMI device to it.

Do you mean the Atrix lapdock? If so, it's still quite pricey I think.
Have just spotted this lot:
I got my lapdock from the at&t retail store yesterday for $80. I'm not sure if your US based since that link if for the euro. It's a great little device but the roms i use dont do landscape mirroring so its fairly useless that and never could get much going for debian on webtop.

Cradle for non-hdtv tv connection?

So I don't have an hdtv (*gasp*) and I'd like to connect my SIII via cradle to the TV for streaming netflix. Whats the best option for me? I can s-vid or standard composite into the tv but no hdmi/hdtv.
I did a bit of googling and it doesn't look like converting from an hdtv cable to either s-vid or composite is all that convenient.
Are there any options for me?
I'd like to be charging while connected to the tv as well so if there's a cradle that'll work for that, that'd be sweet.
Thanks for the info!
Converting Digital to Analog is possible but expensive for units that do it right.
You're better off looking into a new TV purchase for the cost and headache of the converters. You can get a outstanding 37" Tv for under $400 these days, that cheaper than the cost of your phone off contract. Heck I got my parents a 55" for $700 just this winter.
do i have to convert? meaning do i have to run a micro-usb to hdmi and then convert from there? is it not possible to pull non-digital audio and vid from the phone via the same micro-usb port but in analog format from the get-go?
I have used my DInc to transmit video to my in-car entertainment system so my kid could watch shows on NetFlix during our hour drives in the morning and evening. I just got the SIII and would like to do the same. It seems like no one makes a small 12V screen that has HDMI, they all have composite video so upgrading the screen in my SUV won't work.
I figured I have 4 options;
1. Buy the MHL to HDMI adapter and a HDMI to Composite video adapter and cross my fingers and hope it works
2. Get something like the AllShare Cast Dongle but convert it to Composite or hope they make a version that has composite out
3. Buy another device like a cheap tablet and hand that to him sharing my data over wifi or hook up a roku to the existing screens
4. Setup my old phone as a WiFi only device to continue streaming the same as I have been but sharing my data
Since I heard the MHL to HDMI adapters are touchy about what they hook up to and the AllShare dongle is not yet on the market, I have purchased a $100 tablet of DX.com. Figured adapters were going to cost me at least $80, why not spend $20 more and have a tablet he can also play games and read books on. Plus his LeapPad I bought last year was $100 and it sucks. I have not hooked that up yet but I did tether my Galaxy Tab 10.1 today and it worked pretty well.
I don't think my solution will work for you but if your end game is streaming netflix or hulu, you might consider getting a Roku for $50-$100(depending on model), root your phone and tether the data. If you are doing something a Roku doesn't, then you will need to buy a HDMI to Composite adapter because everything right now seems to only have HDMI out, even the AllShare Dongle

Use GN2 as portable gaming system? (setup question)

Here is what I know:
I can use a Samsung USB-to-HDMI adapter to display the screen on a TV while charging the phone. You can hook up a PS3 controller to the GN2 with a USB-OTG cable. I also know that you can connect certain devices to the GN2 via USB-OTG cable and a USB hub to charge the GN2 while using the peripheral.
What I would like to do:
I would like to be able to run an emulated two-player game on my GN2 while displaying on an HDMI connected TV, and having two controllers work at the same time for simultaneous two player action (ex. Street Fighter 2 Turbo for SNES). I already have a couple PS3 controllers as well as two generic USB PC gaming controllers that I would like to use.
Basically, is the USB port on the GN2 capable of being used to simultaneously charge the phone, and run the HDMI adapter and two USB controllers? If not, what about just running the HDMI adapter and charging the phone, then run two controllers via Bluetooth? Also, I see there is a smart dock (EDD-S20JWE) that looks to have all of the functionality I'm interested in, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks all.
I have never thought of that! I am also interested though!

I actually just tried this very setup the other day: HDMI out + PS3 controller. In theory it should be awesome... But I found that the HDMI out is super laggy (both in terms of framerate, and a pretty significant delay between what shows on the phone screen vs. the TV screen). I tried it on both a TV, and a PC monitor, and it was the same. I posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098948
It made every game I tried unplayable. I didn't even try a fighting game, but I'd imagine it would be even worse.
It makes the setup pretty unusable in my opinion, which has me pretty bummed out because I was really excited about it.
I'll just stick to GameKlip + PS3 controller for now.

Xbox 360 wireless controller and hooking up to the TV

I am new to the tablet theme and have a new Samsung tab s. It plays android games really well. is it possible for me to use it as a console and hook it up to my TV and use a xbox 360 wireless controller on it to play android games? I don't see why it would be any different in the nvidia shield
It is and it is not different from the Nvidia Shield tablet.
One of the biggest differences is that the Shield has a HDMI . There are also tegra only games that will not work on any other processor without root and some work. The last difference is that nvidia made a console mode for the shield to make navigation and use easier using only a bluetooth controller.
With that said of you have a controller only game/emulator you like and either a micro usb dock with video out or a micro usb to video cable, then yes you can use your galaxy tab s as a console.
Basically the answer is yes it is possible but no it is not the same as a device/os designed to do it.
Hmm...after doing some investigation.... how would I plug in both a usb xbox 360 wireless adapter and a hdmi adpator to plug into the TV? Or is it only one or the other(tv versus controller)?
Personally I would recommend getting a bluetooth controller. There may be a way to use a usb based controller and video out at the same time but I do not know it if it exists.
You will also need one of these. A mhl - hdmi connector.

Fire TV stick won't stay on its HDMI port

Sorry for the badly worded title, but I can't figure out how to describe the problem. Here is what's happening:
I have my Fire tv stick on hdmi 1, and my raspberry pi 2 running openelec/kodi on hdmi 2.
When I try to switch to hdmi 1, the screen goes blank for about 3 seconds then switches back to hdmi 2 on its own. If I turn off my rpi2 (by unplugging its power) and then try to switch to hdmi 1, it will stay on hdmi 1 and I can watch my fire tv stick normally. As soon as I turn the rpi2 back on, the tv switches to hdmi 2 (or whichever hdmi port I have the rpi2 plugged into).
I am pretty sure the problem is with the fire tv stick and not with the rpi2, because I have other devices on other hdmi ports and they don't have any problems. I have already tried switching all my devices to different hdmi ports and it doesn't make a difference, the fire stick will always switch back to the rpi2's hdmi port as long as the rpi2 is on.
Anyone have any ideas? I have already looked through all the settings on kodi to see if it does something funny that would interfere with the fire stick but didn't notice anything.
Yeah, your title is pretty misleading. I thought your FireTV stick was falling out of the HDMI port.
Maybe change the topic title to "Fire TV Stick is disabled when another TV HDMI port is used".
Anyways, I would be willing to bet your paycheck that your problem is a poor power grounding issue on your Raspberry Pi. You may need to put a Cheater Plug on the Raspberry Pi power supply, or on your TV. Or, if there isn't a ground pin on your Raspberry Pi supply, you may need to flip the power supply plug 180 degrees in the outlet. Or, if you have a UPS back-up supply powering anything, you will need to have all the equipment connected to the UPS, or none of the equipment.
Something like that.
